This is just a note to let viewers know that this campground was closed permanently in 2005. We lived in the area and that is how I know. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
AVOID SHANNON’S RV PARK AT ALL COSTS: I called and made reservations with Gwen, the owner. She inquired when we would be arriving; I explained that it would be late. She replied that our site number would be 50 and she would have the information at their front office. We arrived on August 20 at 11:00 PM. We searched around the office—there was no information on our site. We looked for a campground map, but there was not one to be found anywhere. Alas, we went to search for Site #50. As we approached the site, Gwen’s husband came storming up to our rig and exclaimed, “You don’t have any business to be back here!” He then walked in a huff to the site, only to find that an adjacent camper had parked in two sites. Like a child having a temper tantrum, Gwen’s husband threw his hands down in a fit of rage and rattled off a stream of expletives. He then yells, “You just have to park here tonight,” referring to an area of grass with no hookups. I added that I had made reservations for a full hookup site—did he not get our reservation? Gwen’s husband then yells, “Do you know what time it is? We told you that we close at 10:00 PM! What time is it NOW?” I calmly replied that Gwen was aware that we would arrive late; in addition, she failed to mention that there were gates that would close at a specific time. I then added that I did not appreciate his attitude. Gwen’s husband then screamed, “Get out of here! Get out of here!” We happily left. AVOID THIS CAMPGROUND! It is appalling that there are people like this in the hospitality industry. It is sad to see that they advertise in various media forms in the hopes of attracting business; they obviously fail to realize that advertising is fruitless given their hostile and surly attitude. I am not sure why people pick a profession that they just do not enjoy—it is a sad commentary of their life. The future of Shannon’s RV Park is truly in jeopardy with their current owners. A happy note: Do stay at Kokanee RV Park and Campground. The people are absolutely wonderful! They happily greet you and furnish every bit of sightseeing information on the surrounding area that you may need. They always wave as they walk past your site. They are genuinely friendly and warm people—a polar opposite of Shannon’s RV Park. By the way, don’t be fooled by the AAA sign hanging by the entryway. They are NOT AAA rated. We camped here in a Motorhome.
