This is a forest Service Campground in Eldorado Natl. Forest. It’s located approx. 52 miles from Jackson on Hwy 88 and is at 7,200 ft. There are 2 Silver Lake Campgrounds. The one I’m reporting on is after Silver Lake Campground WEST. Nice Campground but is NOT large rig friendly. The first loop to your right when you come into the campground has low limbs and a tight turn half way through the campground. The next loop on your left is easier to maneuver through. We’re 38’ and barely made it into site #26. If you’re bigger then 30 feet I wouldn’t even attempt to go into the last loop at the rear of the campground. Very small spurs, suited more towards campers, tents and small travel trailers. Not all of the sites are level so bring blocks! There is water located around all the loops and there are vault toilets. Camp Host on duty and sells wood. There is no cell phone or aircard service here. Nearest Dump Station is at Plasse’s Resort to the West and there is a fee. Silver Lake fishing is reported to be pretty good right now, and there are boat rentals and restaurants at the lake. This campground is on the reservation system but it does have some first come camp sites. Golden Age is accepted here for half price, otherwise the rate per night is $22.00. We only stayed 1 night since we didn’t have reservations. Don’t think we’d stay here again since the spur lengths are so varied. We camped here in a Motorhome.
