Pleasant campground in an incredible setting. Coming in on Hwy 88 from the West, it's not the first "Sorensens" venue. Each driver in our party made the same mistake. It's the second "Sorensens". At first we thought we made a mistake booking this campground. Quite the opposite! The beautiful trees and sounds from the Carson River made this an unforgettable journey. Sites 13 and 14 are the largest. Our 31 foot 5th wheel fit just fine in 14. The road is in need of some smoothing out. Beware that road has no turnaround. The campground manager is friendly and helpful. The cafe and store convenient. Would return here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground is in a gorgeous and simply stunning locale right on the river that is replete with incredible rapids and a meandering creek with amazing waterfalls! The campsites are pretty private with masses of flora, fauna, and trees in between, unlike so many other campgrounds where everyone is right on top of each other; which I absolutely abhor! There are also the delightful quaking aspens offering their unique tinkling melodies. And the symphonic sounds of the waterfalls and rapids are wondrous. I would like to offer corrections here for the only other review that is posted for this campground. 1. We were a party of 6 with both a tent and a very large RV of 36’ and we had NO trouble at all with maneuvering. There is definitely plenty of room to turn a large rig around without pulling into someone else’s site! 2. Most of the sites are definitely level; some are fairly small and others are amply roomy. 3. ALL of the lower sites have NO noise issues because the sound of the rapids and the waterfalls drown them out with their magnificence! We stayed in sites 14 and 15, which in my opinion are the best two here; 14 is the biggest and has great bathroom access and 15 is a magical little womb that is very private and has its own waterfall! The host was friendly, helpful, and a delight. The café/store was charming and has homemade pies to boot! The only thing I would change is a little more shade in some of the sites. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The campground is in a beautiful setting surrounded by trees and the Carson River. Access to sites 11-25 is on a steep, narrow and roughly paved road with sharp curves. Campground map does not give an accurate layout of sites or the road to them. We stayed in site 13 which required us to drive to the end of the road and back into another site to turn around when leaving. We have a 27' travel trailer and would not have been able to turn around if the campground was full. The campground is better suited to small trailers or motorhomes. Sites have DG pads and nice fire rings and tables, but most are not level. Can be noisy due to traffic on Hwy 88. Breakfast at the cafe was good. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
