Great location for our visit and close to any Interstate for your next destination. All sites were back-in but not an issue for us. The only bad thing about this park is the walk from the parking lot to the registration office. Wi-Fi and cable worked great and the hook-ups configured for easy use regardless of your RV sewer location. For the price, location and hook-ups we will definitely stay here again. This park has a great location, right in San Diego, everything within 5 miles. Park was quiet. Has lots of stuff for family activities. But because of the month, the water park was closed. Grass could have looked better, and covered picnic areas for barbque are older. We stay here whenever we want to be close to everything. The road down into the park is easy to miss and it's a quick right turn as soon as you get on Admiral Baker Rd. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park is reserved for individuals with present or past military service or Dept. of Defense Employees. Campground is part of a larger recreation park. The spaces are very spacious, but require you to back-in. There are extensive playground facilities, picnic and other recreation facilities. Staff is very helpful, but location of office is confusing. Will visit again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really liked this place. We got an awesome spot right next to the roomy dog park which our dog loved. All staff members were very friendly as were the campers. It has all the amenities we’d ever need and a great location. We’ll come back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a large campground that is crowded on weekends. However, staff are friendly and facilities are good. Great place for families where kids can feel free. We stayed in a 32' rig, got one of the last free sites on short notice, in August. Even if it is full, it is worth trying! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 6 nights and had a great time. Over the weekend the park filled up and almost every single spot was taken so our personal preference was our stay here during the week. But it is a beautiful campground and very family friendly. It has its own little Market Place and restaurant. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely come back! We returned to Campland since we really enjoyed it over Christmas vacation. The place was pretty quiet and empty during the week, but filled up quite a bit for the weekend. It was still pretty quiet with very few people playing outdoor music. The Supersite had their music turned up late one night but turned it off at 10pm on the dot. We love the dog park and my three-year old had a great time and even made a friend. We’ll definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We have enjoyed this campground for 2 years and will definitely come back. The facilities were cleaned daily and the maintenance workers were always out working. The sites, a mixture of asphalt and gravel, are level and have a fire pit and a table. Wi-fi is provided, and there is a new exercise/equipment room. We especially liked the registration personnel who were extremely accommodating. For example: we wanted to leave early in the morning and had a back-in site. We asked if we could move to a pull-through for the night and were given one at no extra charge. Our price reflects the monthly rate for seniors during the winter. This campground is extremely conveniently located for touring San Diego and neighboring areas. Shopping is also close by. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is our fourth time at Christmas, visiting Campland. Loved it the other three years; this year, I had to give it a 5 out of 10. As I checked in, a flyer was posted on the registration door saying the fireworks were canceled, which is the least of my worries, but when you pay in advance of 100 per night, you would hope they would send an email. The registration clerk (female) has checked me in the last three out of four years, and needs work on her professionalism, politeness, and just being nice. Used the Jacuzzi that night, and the temperature needed to be elevated, in addition to the hot water in the locker room. Complained, but it was the same, and then reduced to 90F on the 1st and the 2nd. I guess they figured the high rollers left, but we were still paying 100 per night for our bay front site. No tent for New Year's Eve Party, no explanation. Something was mentioned about a city ordinance(?) Also, our neighbors in H18 were a bit loud with their wonderful speaker system of their toy hauler, and had a good time with games, laughter, and of course music until 11pm. I think the park should reevaluate their Quiet Time of 10pm. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We really liked this place. We got an awesome spot (F29) right next to the roomy dog park which our dog loved. All staff members were very friendly as were the campers. We stayed here for a week. This is a great location with plenty to do, both in the park and around San Diego. There is a pool, a good store, a cafe, and activities for the kids all day long. A beach on the bay, boat rentals, etc. The park is big, and was definitely very crowded, with few empty sites. The crowding wasn't a problem, and the atmosphere was great until the weekend, when it became a giant party. I think people invite a lot of guests from the area so the park seemed way overfull and it was a little rowdy. The pool was too crowded, as was the beach. Overall a great spot though I would plan to stay during the week for the best time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I can't say this is the best place I've stayed, but in all fairness to the park they do a good job keeping the place clean and providing a lot of activities. The beach and pool is nice and our site was fine, if a little tight. The downside of this place is that it is very crowded and kind of a rough crowd. We kept a close eye on our grandson, but most of the people there paid no attention to what their kids were doing creating a dangerous situation. The park seems to take it as whatever will be will be and really don't enforce any rules. We will not go back in the summer but may try it again in fall or spring. The location is great and the fireworks at night from sea world are fun, just a shaky crowd. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I really liked this campground - but then I am partial to water and especially the ocean. This campground is right on Mission Bay and the views are marvelous. There are some cons: the sites were close together and, because of the hook-ups, our front window looked out onto the rear window of the camper in front of us. We could almost shake hands with the person on our right when our slides were out. There are different grades of sites and ours, the cheapest, had gravel for half of it. Now the pros: the staff was very friendly, the restrooms, the beach, the common areas were always clean. We saw them clean up and rake each campsite prior to a new camper's arrival. The jetty area was delightful. The pools and spa were always clean and neat. There is a store with camping, RV, food and souvenirs. There is a small restaurant and they even have hard ice cream. Would we return? We've already made our reservation for next year. We liked it that much. We camped here in a Motorhome.

After just returning from a three week RV trip we took our granddaughter here for a weekend get away. We paid $250.00 a night and it was the worse campground we had stayed at all summer. Over 15 people were allowed to stay on the site next to us and they turned their music up loud until 2am. Security did nothing. The place is over crowded and the sites are too small. Don't go if you are looking for a relaxing time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Campland on the Bay is definitely a family friendly park. The staff here is really helpful and courteous and it's right on the bay. Be prepared for a lot of kids though and our campsite was so tight that I couldn't extend my awning all the way out. Despite being in such close quarters (we could hear our neighbors problem with Mexican food) we enjoyed our stay there and the very friendly atmosphere. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This place is still great! I've been coming here for over 20 years. I took a 10 year break, and since I've been back I don't know why I did. Oh wait, now I remember, the price. This would have gotten a 10 had it not been so expensive. They have great sites, most of which you can see the nightly Sea World fireworks from across the bay. They have a boat load of functions for the kids and adults. That might be why they are so expensive. You have a chance to not only be with your friends and family but meet new campers. Even though they "can" break the bank I will continue to recommend this place for great family fun. Or for couples looking for alone time, it's a great place to spend it. For those "campers" who need a hotel room, this place will suit you fine. It's great for boaters, and water sports. They also have a beach section for some sand play. The facility is ALWAYS clean, and the staff always has great ideas for more fun. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is one of the best campgrounds we have stayed in this year. The site we had (Select) was large enough for us, had a tree, and a view of the beach. The 2 pools, 2 hot tubs and grounds are clean and well maintained. Our first night we found out they were giving free shuttle rides to look at Christmas lights, so we went. Turns out they have shuttles that go several places. There are a lot of activities, including dances with live bands. Most activities are for kids (we have none with us) but some are adult oriented. Once school let out, it did get overrun with kids who aren't always polite and careful not to run into pedestrians. The amenities are all great- but I did feel like the boat/bike/jet ski rental prices were high. Overall, we would love to come back! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

My nightly rate is for a monthly stay. I had a bay view site which I highly recommend. They are larger and offer great views of the bay. Drive around the park when you first arrive be sure to check out the E and F bay view site sections. The staff at the desk is hit and miss, I had both one girl that getting help was like pulling teeth and another guy that could not be nicer. Beware, for monthly people there is a mandatory orientation which starts at 10am on the dot, if you miss this you will be paying the full weekly or nightly rates. As I said the bay view sites offered plenty of space and this is by far the nicest campground location I found in San Diego. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great park if you have kids, they are catered for with lots of stuff for them to do. The beach was very nice although no life guard and considering this is such a family catered for park I would have thought they would have one. No life guard in the pool either alto I do not think that was so important as there was usually plenty of people there and children were not allowed to swim alone. You have no choice but to like your neighbor, very crowded. My big beef is the speed that people drive around the park even tho it is posted 5 MPH, i wish the management would police the speeders. Will go back again when I have children, would not go with adults only. Well run apart from the above comment We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We will not return to Campland after staying here 3 years in a row! The place has gone WAY downhill. The place is so overfilled, that you can not even begin to get ANY privacy until you close your eyes to sleep. And that is after having to call the Park Rangers every night to chase off the dozens and dozens of kids grinding their skateboards until midnight, yelling words that would make your skin curl and making life miserable. People everywhere! Running through your site 24/7, smoldering wood fires ruining the interior of coaches, rude staff, would not even think of sending a fax for us, as we looked at the fax machine 5 feet away, they told us "Go to Kinkos". So many people, bike and scooter crashes are very common. Grass cutting and blowers a 7:30am, like it or not, blowing grass all over your coach and personal belongings, once again, they can care less. Hundreds of people come in everyday from outside to completely "stuff" the so called "private beach". Wireless is not a choice during peak hours (4pm-11pm)7 days a week, no IP addresses available when your competing with 3000 other people for the same addresses. Laundry room is full to capacity all day, I could go on and on, what a shame, this place used to be fun for the family, now, I want my 7 year old as far as possible from the unbelievable things that go on here, as my neighbor the spot next to me described it, it is like a drunk college town. I was here 15 miserable nights, this stuff went on and on and on, even after numerous folks complained! With no other parks having any space we were stuck. Have fun at Campland, you will never forget it! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is definitely a family park, with parents and grandparents traveling with children of all ages, and their friends. It was common to walk by a group of 4 RV units with 4 or 5 tents forming a community campsite. The RV next to me had 10 bicycles to accommodate the group. Daytime sponsored activities included and castle building, field games, and evening karrioki. If you are looking for a quiet spot by the ocean, this is not a place for you. The park was a clean as a beach side park could be, with security and plenty of staff. I listed the rate at $99 but with all fees it was $103 a night. We went with our 7 year old granddaughter and had a great time. I would not go here with just my wife. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very large park with much to offer. Beach, pool, parks, laundry, store, shuttle bus, marina & boat rentals, skateboard park, market, cafe and more. This is a great location for children. We camped in G36. The space is so tight that we were unable to fully extend our awning. Our rig was literally on top of two (2) fire rings and we were unable to enjoy an evening fire. We need 50 amps and this was confirmed on our reservation (internet reservations must be paid at the time reservations are made) When we arrived, the site only had 30 amp. Quite hours do not begin until 11:00 p.m.. Privacy is an issue. At all hours of day and night, children running through space. Rentals, such as jet skis are very expensive. The location is tremendous. 15 minutes to Sea World. You can see the Sea World fireworks at night. Right on the bay. There is no better weather than on the Southern California ocean front (bay front) than the summer. I would give a higher review except for the lack of privacy, reservation snafu and tight space. Our nightly rate was based on an off-season, monthly stay. We wintered here and score it highly for amenities and a location that can't be beat. Enjoyed the heated pools and hot tubs throughout the winter. It's also a great spot for urban family camping. They've just installed a small skateboard park that younger teens will enjoy. Yes, it's tight, and yes it can get noisy especially as warm weather sets in, but where else can you get a bayfront stay in hyper-expensive San Diego for a shade over 30 dollars a night? This place is in the middle of the Mission Bay district of San Diego, but it felt like a park way out of town. Though it is huge (500 and some sites) it has a smaller camp ground feel. It filled up over the weekend, but never felt overly cramped. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean and plentiful in number. The whole place was nicely kept. They had lots of "extras" like a private beach, pool, spa, cable tv, good sized store, internet. It is kid friendly. We would stay again. I would recommend reservations on weekends and in the summer as it seems to be a popular place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a humongous RV & camping park. It was super tight & rigs were on top of one another. The location is fantastic - in the heart of Mission Bay. The amenities were great with Market, ice cream, BBQ, beach & more. We left a day early because it was very crowded and the sites were too close to each other. The place was clean. Pictures on website look way better than in person. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We've been to Campland on the Bay three times in about five years. Each time is in March and we try to get in section G or B (with full hookups and cable) because the Amphitheater Park is a nice big green area to look at and enjoy even though you are sardined in with your neighbors. There are both pull ins and back ins, so you can choose your view. This is San Diego. Some great things to do and see, but property is at a premium. Our rate reflects Passport America which is half price (only during the winter season). The location is great, right on Mission Bay: bay front, not oceanfront, but there's no option for bay front. It's only 5 minutes from Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and Sea World, only 15 minutes from downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, Zoo and San Diego Harbor where the cruise ships come in, the aircraft carrier USS Midway is open for tours and the most awesome Maritime Museum offers sailing trips and excellent tours of ships (this was my favorite thing this time). Campland has two pools and two hot tubs. One pool is heated, the other not. My 9 year old son was swimming in the non-heated pool for an hour or two, but this was after we had just come back from playing in the ocean on Mission Beach. One thing I really appreciate about Campland is the free wireless. They also have lots to do all year round, several activities every day (check schedule on their website), ping pong, horseshoes, beach volleyball, bike, boat and golf cart rentals, game room, small restaurant/ice cream/snack bar on premises. It's a very nice place, although I can't see paying full price. We come during the winter for a few days each year during half price options. It's busy on weekends, but weekdays are pretty laid back. Was still not vacant, but not packed. Overall, a nice place for families. Sites are a little close and there are no pull through ones. The bay has sometimes been contaminated and the bay beach closed, but this year it was not. Just something you might want to call ahead about if that is important to you. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I can see how the reviews of this park can vary so much. I stayed in the D section, water, electric, TV hookups, no sewer. This section was almost empty so it was very private and quiet with a view of the bay and many shade trees. The same with sections A, B, and C, no sewer. The sections with full hook ups were very crowed with narrow spaces: not my style, and music coming from some rigs. In the summer, I understand that the place is very full with many families and many kids, so forget trying to swim in the pool. I would stay again in the winter season. I would not like any section during the summer and would not come here. I don't like crowded, noisy RV parks with small sites. Price reflects PA discount. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I can see why this park has mixed reviews. We are in the A section, which has water and electric only with shorter sites, but it is less crowded, more secluded, and very close to the pools. (The pools are warm enough to swim in 50 degree weather.) This park is in an ideal location in downtown San Diego, but well off the interstate, and with a passport America rate, the price is unbelievable. They also allow use of the rate up to 10 days if space is available. We stayed 9 days (the rate was $26 for weekend nights). The pools and spas are beautiful and spotlessly clean; the bay beach is nice. Our section of the park has large trees and is nicely landscaped. It has a very nice playground, and the bathrooms are nicely heated and clean. The downside is that the spots are very close, and while we have had a wonderful time, I imagine it would be unpleasant and noisy if the park was crowded. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Campland in the winter is a wonderful place. We are staying in the playground side of the park and it is worth the extra money. Our site is backed up to a green belt with the bay in the background. Grounds are very clean, staff is pleasant and security is great. Our rate is based on a monthly charge. It is a child friendly place which I appreciate. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Most of the park is just a paved parking lot. The site we reserved was beach front, but were assigned an interior site instead. VERY SMALL SITES and VERY CLOSE !! This place is way over priced, the electric and sewer hookups were backwards: unable to gain access to the sewer. Because of the small size we were unable to park our tow car at our site. This was our second and last visit. Disappointing experience. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here Monday through Thursday off-season. It was much less crowded than others have reported and very few kids until the last day. If you do go to this park, request to be on the west end of the park where there are more trees and a bit more room. Closer to the beach is where the spaces are like a parking lot. The rest rooms and showers were sparkling clean every time we used them. As for full-timer's rigs being substandard, I didn't see that at all. Our own rig is an '89 Bounder, so unless you look like you're heading to the Rainbow Gathering, we probably wouldn't notice age and condition of your rig. The staff were so-so friendly. Once I called up to the office with a question about the WiFi and left a message. I never received a call back and didn't push it since I'd already figured out the problem. Cleaning staff and store staff were very friendly. We stayed here on Passport America and the rate we quote here is the half-price rate for a Standard site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground was an experience. We stayed in the J area along the grassy side by the entertainment tent. If you are going to stay at Campland, this is the place to stay. The sites are pretty small, but if you camped along the grassy area, you had a large area behind your site that you could use. We sat out and watched the people every night. They had live bands on the weekends and activities for the kids. Generally, we enjoy more room and a rustic environment, but this place was fun also. I know that some people have reported theft, however, we did not have any problems and were lucky to camp next to some great people. I would not recommend staying in the tent areas or anywhere else, just for size and room, and the entertainment factor. They had a private bay/beach area also that was nice. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

While our site, F09, was excellent for it's location, water front, size, spacious, and cleanliness, the rest of the park was so densely populated that RVs were shoehorned in at an alarming rate. I have never seen more people in one spot in my life. Realizing that summer season is filled with kids on bikes, the campground management has figured out how to slot some type of trailer, tent, 5th wheel, Class A, or Class C into every square foot. Unless you have a waterfront location, do not go there for peace and quiet. The beach, market, or rental facilities can't make up for the congestion. On a plus note, there were security people everywhere for crowd control and check in was efficient. We camped here in a Motorhome.

First time camping here and find it very expensive and extremely busy and congested with people and vehicles. It's open to the public to use for recreation and all manner of camping is allowed. It reminds me of a busy city. Our site at $70 is nothing but an asphalt space jammed up closely to our neighbors on either side. Even worse, we are nose-to-nose with another rig since our site is backed up to another. Talk about cramming everybody in for the most money. We had to leave Chula Vista RV Park since they were booked and it was so much nicer and quieter for less money. On the plus side, our Satellite TV works and the Wi-Fi is free and speedy. We camped here for 4 days. We have no plans to ever stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

After reading several reviews, mostly here and on RV.net, we were a bit worried to say the least. However, I have to admit, it was a nice stay. I do not think this would be the place to take the wife on a romantic getaway, but for taking the kids, it was nice. Our four little ones (ages 13 down to 4) had a blast! We rented a pedal boat for a couple hours and they enjoyed roaming the bay. Sea Doo's, ski boats, sail boats, catamarans, and other water toys all available for $$$. Sea World fireworks over the bay at night. Bathrooms and showers clean and, oddly enough, the entire park was really quiet after 10pm. A tab bit crowded; had neighbors to both sides and to the rear even though there were other spots that were empty. It would have been nice if the park staggered the occupants a bit more. Also pricey, but where else can you take the family to the beach and spend the night for that? Staff and other campers friendly. Fire pits and bench at every site. The cable TV was outstanding and kids had all the channels they watch at home. Didn't need to set up the DISH and that was an advantage. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed our trip very much. This place was nice and clean and has its own boat rentals, beach and kid programs. It is great for families. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We reserved this spot with much trepidation following recent reviews (using Passport America,) but extended our stay to a total of 6 days. If you want to "go camping," then go to the woods. If you want to visit San Diego, being minutes from everywhere, then stay here. We felt very safe in spite of being in downtown San Diego! The staff was friendly, and overall the grounds well maintained. Yes, there were lots of kids around, but we love hearing the sounds of laughing children. The site are small, and there were lots of dogs barking, but all was quiet from 10:00 PM til 7:00 AM. We would definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Location, location, location. Great for sites in the San Diego area. We stayed here over Easter vacation. This campground is crowded and noisy. Noise from the all the children playing, is good noise. The campground has a lot of activities for school age children. The bad noise comes from the adults and their toys: golf carts, trucks, music, etc. We stayed in the dry camp site, I-39, that looks out onto the marina. We had a good view of the bay. Other areas of the park are mostly too crowded (for us) with little room between campsites. Some sites we saw had as little as 5 feet of space. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Incredible location! The park was very nice. Pools and jacuzzi were excellent - in fact, this was the only campground where I've ever used the pool as we have one at home. Site were fairly level but tight to get in/out of. Price was not bad as we used Passport America for half off and we went during the off season. The prices can be astronomical during the summer months. On weekdays in the off season, they also have free rentals on kayaks, bicycles, etc. Not everyday but most of them. Lots of fun and plenty of places to visit in San Diego. I do wish the sites were a little larger for the Diesel Pushers and the summer prices were cheaper. The staff was the best I've ever seen. Very helpful and friendly. Wi-Fi was stable and ran at a good speed. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I stayed in a basic spot on winter weekdays that rent for $49, but they accepted my Passport America (PA) card for half price, which surprised me because of all the restrictions on PA use. Although I was down row L in a crowded parking-lot type site, we had a glimpse of the bay down the row since the adjacent site was vacant. The front-row bayfront sites have awesome views of Mission Bay and San Diego, but they are expensive. I stayed in them once when I was in town on business (not having to pay, and staying in those particular sites I would give the place a '9'). Even though the basic sites are crowded and sometimes claustrophobic, you can easily get out and within a short walk or bike are the Mission Bay beach and pleasant resort grounds and facilities. Prepare for lots of kids on days when school is out, and for limited availability in summer and winter weekends and holidays at this popular park. I am an avid biker and love to ride from the park mostly on bayfront bike trails to the ocean boardwalk in Mission Beach in less than 30 minutes, or do the 14-mile easy circuit around the Bay in 2 hours. For dining out and groceries, nearby Garnet Street is the key (turn left), with every kind of restaurant you could want, plus the excellent food markets Trader Joe's and Henry's. The staff was friendly, and let me check out my satellite in a few sites prior to finalizing my check in. There are varying amounts of trees throughout the resort which may cause a problem for your satellite. So, all in all, it's a huge RV park but with a friendly resort atmosphere rather than a trailer park atmosphere. It is very expensive for a campground, but you are paying for the prime location right on Mission Bay and the facilities. And, you get what you pay for with the type of sites you book. I have enjoyed my stays here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The roads could use a little help, and this really is just a glorified parking lot. It was a good place to go out from to see San Diego, but I would not choose to stay here long term. Some of the long term units were very old and run down looking, and there was also a large amount of duck poo all around the sites. There are many ducks that will sleep under your rig. The playground was also run down. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice park for a family. The campground was very kid oriented with many planned activities. Sites were very close together, but with good neighbors it posed no problem. High prices for the site space, but many things to do in the campground, and you cant beat the location. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

It is truly a family campground, kids everyplace, but really neat. Plenty of things to do, was crowded, several family functions, but it was fun and clean. Highly recommend, if you are into family type outings. We had a nice spot with the view of Sea World and they had fireworks on Friday and Saturdays nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Because many of the sights are crammed in together, we have had some good camping experiences as well as some not so good. In other words, neighbors have had a great influence on our quality of vacation at this resort. If you have a motorhome and your next door neighbor has a trailer, you can find yourself literally camping with each other as the tables are close together and there are no effective barriers. Also, some neighbors do not seem to obey the rules regarding noise at night, which is very frustrating. On the plus side, this park has a great location on Mission Bay. In addition, it has some great entertainment, including a hypnotist and several live bands. Overall, we enjoy Campland, but we have to be in the mood for it as it is not a place to relax in the true sense of the word. I see it as more of a non-stop party atmosphere with children and adults running around having a wopper of a good time. I will say that the winter season can be quiet and relaxing at this park, which is a nice change once in a while. It all depends what kind of camping experience one is looking for. Camp on! This is by far the best campground we have ever stayed at. We have been camping in our Motorhomes for over 6 years now. We have stayed at Campland On The Bay many times. And Campland On The Bay in San Diego, California has some of the best maintained sites around. Not to give away any secrets, but the Supersite is to die for with it's own jacuzzi and privacy fence right on the bay. From Vero Beach Florida to Diamond Lake, Oregon. We have had some pretty bad experiences (during summer when it's usually packed with kids) no duh! It's summer time. Summer, kids, they kind of go together. Stop whining, if you don't like kids, don't camp at Campland On The Bay because it is a family campground. I don't have and never have had any children. One thing I do realize though, is kids and fun go together. And skateboards are fun. Although noisy, none the less, fun. By the way, the speed limit in the park is 5MPH. One of the best parts about Campland On The Bay, is it's centrally located to Sea World, the World Famous San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. One more tip. The next time you find yourself parked next to a 1976 bus/motorhome, try talking to your neighbor, you just might find out you like them and end up having a little fun. I have stayed at Campland on the Bay twice before and had a great time. This time it was unbearable; the campground was wall to wall kids, they were riding their bikes and skateboards EVERYWHERE, the pools and jacuzzi's were overrun with unsupervised children. The first night was so noisy we complained and they moved us to a "Bay View" site. While the first night was quiet the next night we had to listen to the "Best of the Bee Gee's" from 6pm - 9pm. The beach was filthy and littered with papers. The staff not does enforce the skateboarding rules and the quiet hours. We almost hit several children on bicycles and skateboards. We did enjoy the fireworks and the live band. We paid $75 per night to camp and had they charged us for the "Bay View" site we moved to it would have been $125 per night - But as earlier reviews have said "It's the only game in town"! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

As many have stated, the sites are packed in, and it is basically like a parking lot for much of the park. However, you are camping right next to a nice beach, in a location that is great to get to all the San Diego locations. If you plan on just sitting outside your RV for your trip, this is not the place for you. If you want to spend some time at the beach (this is a bay, no waves) and spend time going to the activities that they have and spend time exploring the San Diego area, this is a great spot. I have been here three times, and the kids love it. They have a security checkpoint you must pass through in order to enter. We have never felt unsafe in this park. Wish the cost were lower, but hey, it's San Diego and you can walk a few steps to the beach. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Close to family and friends, so worked out well for us. They put us in a too tight back-in space and couldn't get our slides out at first, but then moved us to a pull-through at no extra charge. Even then, the space was in a huge parking lot and were too close to others to put out our awning very far. The utility pole was too far away from where our electric connects, resulting in a bent plug. Watch out for other steel posts because they are short and easy to miss when putting out slides. Lots of kids on small vehicles can be a hazard when driving, so must drive very slowly. Excellent central location. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park has the potential of being one of the best. To achieve that it will require a new management team or a commitment from the existing team to provide a park that will treat weekenders with more respect. Two issues need immediate attention. The first is the "permanent residents." They allow people to stay for up to nine months at a time during the winter months, without regard to type of rig. Mixed in the park are very old buses, motorhomes and trailers, that are occupied by large amounts of people, that look to be homeless. Some also have multiple vehicles, which crowd the small sites, making it much like an RV storage yard. This, in my opinion could be easily remedied by placing full timers with in a single location in the park which could be done very easily. The second issue is that if you are Passport America, you are automatically a second class citizen, and even if there are other available sites, you are placed next to one of the permanent rigs. This has happened to us each time, and this time, we traveled with another rig, and they made sure that between us was a 1976 San Diego city bus with two other vehicles of the same generation. The bus was occupied by at least five people, two dogs and couple of cats. The people were okay, but in and out all day and night. Unfortunately this will probably go on deaf ears since Campland by the Bay is pretty much the only game in town. Lastly, they say to lock things up because of people illegally entering the park and stealing things like bicycles. I wonder. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Family park, Chula Vista is a better park for adults. Over-rated and crowded. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A wide variety of sites are available, situated around a toilet/shower house. There are a number of free organized activities; secure entrance & grounds; market, food & laundry room with good hours; pools & hot tubs clean & not crowded. Most sites are quite close together. The office staff could be more friendly, but they are appropriately business-like. Central location is good for bike rides or even walks around the bay area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

What a dump! The only reason we came here was that it was recommended to us by camper we met in Estes Park, Colorado. He said: "Don't miss Campland on the Bay. It's beautiful." I don't know what he was looking at, but he sure wasn't looking at this place! It's a parking lot with hookups - and not a very good parking lot. Sites are tight and not maintained at all. We couldn't open our awning. There was just not enough room between us and our neighbor. The other side of our motorhome was even tighter. The big sites are just 40 feet which means you are parking your tow vehicle in the narrow streets. They have a few sites that they claim are 43-43 feet. But when I looked at them, they didn't look any bigger. We should have been suspicious from the beginning. When you make a reservation, they ask for the full amount up front and there are no refunds if you decide not to stay. We had to stay a week since we had paid for a week. We would have left the second day if we could have gotten our money back. The upside to our visit was that we were able to use Passport America to get a 50% savings. If we come back to the area, we'll not return to this dumpy campground. Trailer Life ratings were way off on this one. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stayed monthly and while the rates go up for the summer and it isn't possible to stay monthly. The sites are very tight with little room for 1 or sometimes 2 vehicles. the campground is clean, the pool / jacuzzi's are nice. Great laundry room. Despite the tight sites, the rangers are very helpful and friendly. Always willing to help getting into / out of sites and with any general questions / concerns. Recommend this park!! We have stayed here numerous times in the past few years. The kids really enjoy it. I do not recommend staying over the 4th of July. It was a struggle to decide how to rate the CG this time. I decided to rate it based upon my previous visits. We ended our trip early because of the following situations: On Sunday got about 3 hours of sleep and so did all my neighbors. They had gang fighting at the beach and police showed up to break it up, teenagers were smoking pot and having sex at the cafe after hours, teenagers were drinking and the security staff could not control the occupants. Also, my teenagers did not want to leave the MH after dark. They had been skateboarding and people came up behind them and tried to trip them while they were skating. Also, they had some kids just walk up to them and try to start a fight. Another parent also had a similar enoounter. The next day we spoke to the staff and they agreed that they themselves would not take their kids to this park on the 4th. They also added that this time of the year, is referred to as hell days. On Monday, we had to move spots and thank the Lord. We moved between two older couples who were mellow and I thought great, I can get some sleep and we can stay here for a couple days. The beach area was a little tense in the afternoon with many occupants getting drunk. Nightfall set in and the park was still sort of acceptable. However, that quickly changed. The yelling and screaming started and continued through the early morning hours. A couple sites down from me, people were getting drunk and other. Then a crowd of adults began forming and the "french" conversations began. I thought that I had seen it all until that happened. That was the nail in the coffin. I got a little more sleep that night. I managed to sleep for a few hours and we left this morning. The staff at Campland were nice and friendly as well as sympathetic. My toad almost got hit twice. The first time was by a bicyclist who was drunk and the second time was by a golf cart with drunk drivers as they tried to race down the street cutting each other off and running into one another. When I told them to watch the car, they kept speeding along flipping me off. The San Diego PD's presence was reassuring however, it was not frequent enough. Also, it seemed that there were not enough secuirty staff present to control the crowds. We would not stay here for the 4th again. However, I am planning in returning back later this summer for a weekend and I expect that the problem that I had enountered will happen once and not repeat itself. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Campland was ok, it had many amenities for a family to enjoy and the restroom/showers were clean. However, for the price I have been at better places. The site was very small, you were literally bumping into your neighbor. The place is very noisy so do not expect peace and quiet. The crows will be sure and wake you up every morning bright and early. I do not believe I will be staying here again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Yuk! We requested (and paid) for a waterfront site. We were put in an area overlooking the "Ecological Study Area". It was filled with every kind of trash you can think of. Our site was so small that when I sat down on the picnic table, I banged my head on our neighbor's slide out. Never again. I hear that there is an RV park in Chula Vista that is much, much nicer. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stay here every year during Spring Break. Our favorite sites are near the estuary and little park (not playground). The restrooms are always clean, with plenty of hot water. The 2 pools and 2 spas are always clean, as is the whole pool area. The numerous activities for the kids make it fun for a whole week. The private dock makes it a great place to stay with the boat. The beach at the campground is nice for the little kids, and its close to LaJolla Shores for the bigger kids to enjoy the beach. Water skiiing, fishing and tubing are all easy to access. The game room, cafe, store, and laundry room are all clean and well maintained. Lighted basketball and horseshoe pits are also used by the kids. Great place in big city to camp. We spent 4 days at Campland On The Bay, we puchased a bayview site. The spaces in the affordable area were similar to parking at Walmart, only closer. The park was dirty and the people were not very friendly. The positive side of this park were the activities for the kids and the private beach area. I will not be returning to this campground, nor will I recommend it to anyone. A huge, great resort style park on Mission Bay in San Diego. Staff was very distant however, mostly teens and twenty somethings who acted like they didn't care if you were there or not. Lot's to see and do very close (Sea World, Wild Animal Park, Zoo, et.al.) I would come close to giving it a 10 if the staff were better. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful view of San Diego Bay! RV and camp sites are located right along the water. Lots of family water events to enjoy, including sailing, canoeing and kayaking. Bring your bikes and enjoy the nice biking trails up and down the strand. There are a lot of nice shops and restaurants within easy biking distance. Facilities have always been clean and neat (shower, bathrooms, laundry room, etc.) every time we have visited. This RV park is located off-base and is open to active duty, retirees, DoD civilians and civilian guests without ID's when accompanied by an eligible sponsor. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is run by Navy MWR. Fire rings are only located on sites next to water. Sites in second row are out of luck. Camp hosts were not very friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.

You must be active or retired military to stay. The campground is on the Strand (Coronado). It has a little store and snack bar available. Very quiet and each site has a fire ring for those chilly beach nights. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate is based on monthly stay. Sites are fairly tight, all back-in, between two trees. Don't know why it is called a resort as there are no amenities. This RV park is all about the location, right next to the Bay and a couple of miles from the ocean. Close to many of San Diego's attractions. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Needed a quick get-away (from Phoenix) so picked this park for a 5 day stay. Had a bay side site which backed us up to a chain link fenced walk way on the edge of the bay. Enjoyed the view - our little class C has a rear kitchen with a full window. Great dog walk areas - rate as a 10. They also have a small nice fenced dog area. Security in the park is excellent. Well located, within a few miles of the popular San Diego attractions. Downside is very little non-paved areas, basically a large parking lot with a few trees and some narrow grass areas. If you have kids, we were informed (rather vocal youngster) that Campland across the bay was the place to stay! We camped here in a Motorhome.

I stayed at this campground for a month and it is just a blacktop parking lot with hook-ups and several small trees. The staff is very friendly. They do have a fenced dog run, but it is small and just dirt. The Wi-Fi does not work very well. This campground is surrounded by some not so nice mobile homes that should have been torn down years ago. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects monthly cost that is all inclusive. Excellent location. Very attentive & friendly staff. We stayed here a month in November & loved the place. Although it is lacking amenities like a pool, shuffleboard or pickleball, what it does offer is convenience to everything San Diego has to offer! Ride your bike to the boardwalk, Sea World, farmers markets, etc. There is a wonderful park right outside the gate with volleyball, bike paths, picnic areas with firepits & more. Parking is good but sites are all asphalt. No problem there as they are kept very clean. It was a 2 minute walk to the Bay! We will probably make this our winter home while we are on the west coast. Getting mail was easy. The management even delivered it to us on a couple of occasions. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an OK campground for little children with bikes, because it is asphalt only. The bay side we had, looked OK in the picture. In reality there was a high fence between the bay and the campground. We regretted we did not book the other RV park at the bay, with a real beach, real shade and grass. Check in is at 2pm strictly, even when your spot is free. Office closes at 5 pm. Arriving later, the guard will let you in, but you have to wait till next morning for the internet code. Depressive Campground. We were lucky to have very nice neighbors. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park was in a great location! We loved seeing the fireworks from Sea World across the bay, starting at 9:52pm. The only downsides...we had to leave after 2 days and we prepaid for a week due to a family issue and there is a no refund policy...so we left them with $410, of our money. There is no parking for guests inside the park...which is a long walk in. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park close to San Diego. Paved sites that are level with good utilities. The park was not full when we stayed for two weeks. Rate reflects Passport America and Good Sam. 24 hour security. 30 day limit ensured that there are no long-termers. So the park had a travel/tourist feel with mixture of class A/C and 5th wheelers. Park has a RV ten year rule. Nice bike trails and good walk around bay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great location and great Passport America rate. This park was clean and efficient. Like others have mentioned, the park is mainly a paved parking lot with trees in between each site and a few strips of grass between the rows, but still it was very pleasant and clean. The sites would be rather snug if all sites were occupied, but during our mid-week stay, there were plenty of open sites between motorhomes. Will absolutely stay here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our rate reflects monthly winter rate. I would sum this up as a so-so RV park in an AWESOME location. Yes, it's pretty much a parking lot and yes there's not a lot of amenities, but the location is perfect. You've got space to walk around De Anza Cove, access to the beach, direct walking access to Mission Bay Park and Mission Bay Golf Course and you're close to all of San Diego. If you've got a doggie there are some Bay restrictions (you can walk in Mission Bay and the beach after 4PM (in winter) or before 9AM), but you're only 5 mins drive from all-day off-leash pooch heaven Fiesta Island plus maybe 10 mins from off-leash Ocean Beach. There's no other RV park in San Diego that I know where you can get that close to a dog-friendly beach. Sites are asphalt but big enough for any size rig. I'm not clear I'd be happy paying the full $$ rate and I definitely wouldn't bother paying the premium for a bay or beach view, but if you come mid-week, stay in the regular sites and use Passport America or take the monthly rate this place is a great all-round deal. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate shown Passport America discount. Site paved back-in and level. No privacy between sites since entire campground is a paved parking lot with trees spaced between sites. Cable TV has around 20 channels. The Wi-Fi is strong, but slow due to limited bandwidth. Clean laundry with four washers and four dryers. There is another laundry in the park which appears to be the same size. Access to the walking and bike path that goes around Mission Bay, but you need a gate card (supplied by office)to get back in through the bay view gate. Fairly close to the Interstate, but noise wasn't a problem. Bus service available near the golf course on Grand Avenue. I would not hesitate to come here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

On our first stay we selected a "water Front lot" overlooking Mission Bay. Sounds great until you get there and find that they only allow back-in and your coach faces the road, with the back of the coach to the water (some good that does for a premium site)! They enforce the 2 pages of rules to the Nth. . On this current occasion, when we couldn't get level( air bag coach ), they told us that they have not had leveling issues. I moved around a bit on the lot , and still couldn't level. I went to the office and asked them to come and see, and tell me they didn't have a leveling issue. Only then did they move me to another site. After I moved, a fellow camper came over and said he was at the next site, and couldn't get level, so they moved him and gave him the same line. Then on our last evening, we had some friends over to visit and we went to another site about 12 lots away, taking our car with lawn chairs, wine, chips etc, in the car and parked on an empty lot next to the coach. The young security guy came and said that we were not allowed to park there. There were at least 5 empty spots top the next coach. I said we were a registered guest and to look at our sticker. We would reload the car when done and go back to our space. That wasn't good enough!! He wanted us to move it back, then and there, as parking on another site is not allowed (even though the place was 75 to 80% empty). After some discussion, my wife moved the car back. A supervisor came around, didn't say anything but parked about 5 spots away watching us. How threatening is that! I dared challenge their authority! The night before 4 bikes were stolen, in this very well patrolled park. Funny how some things are important and others not! In any case, there are several more minor items, but I feel that this should be the absolute last place to stay in the San Diego area. It is premium priced and fundamentally a paved parking lot. I will file a formal protest with, the name I was given. I doubt it will do any good! Mission Bay RV Resort, is a county owned facility and as s result a typical government run organization. We have stayed twice and both have been less than favorable. There is only a concrete block building with showers and laundry facilities. The park is fun fundamentally a paved parking lot with 1 tree on 3/4 of the sites. One small grass area for pets. They have more security than required during the day and little at night as 4 bikes were stolen one night. The sites are all back in, even on the water front sites, and many are hard to get into with a larger coach. There is also a leveling issue on a portion of the sites, as we could not get level with our air bag coach and after some discussion moved to another site. There are 2 pages of rules which they enforce. Other than being close to San Diego downtown and Sea World, this park has no redeeming quality. We camped here in a Motorhome.

These folks now call themselves Mission Bay RV "Resort," but that's hype. There are NO amenities other than two concrete block toilet/showers, a laundry, a dog run, and a 9-5 roach coach with snack foods only. The park is an asphalt expanse of cheek-by-jowl slots with parking only directly in front of your own rig, making the lanes narrow (backing in was a challenge). On weekends, you couldn't walk from point A to point B without colliding with a tween-aged skateboarder or cyclist. The hookups were first rate, though everybody's water, power, and TV were located directly behind their neighbor's rig. The beach was unusable (70° and damp in mid-August, go figure). Management aren't very effective at enforcing quiet hours. The Wi-Fi was pervasive but balky, and routinely disconnected VPNs. If you arrive after 5:00, the guards tell you you have to get the Wi-Fi password from another camper, because the management won't tell the guards the password! That's rinky-dink. When you pull in, they make you sign a sheet of park rules, among which is a prohibition on the possession of any firearms. At that point, what do they expect you to do with any you have? Since the park is run by the county, this is a direct violation of both Heller v. DC and McDonald v. Chicago (an RV is an abode), so I signed with a clear conscience. All in all, this is a park that may be worth paying $25/night to stay in. At $60/night (even with the Good San discount), I feel cheated. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park is in a great location right on the bay. It has a nice dog walk on grass that fronts the bay. When we first arrived the place was just about full and seemed very cramped, like being in a large asphalt parking lot. But after the weekend it cleared out to about 1/2 full and then was very nice for the rest of the week. This is a back in only park, so those wanting pull through will have to go elsewhere. Very quiet at night and a great spot to enjoy the water and get around San Diego quickly. Would stay there again, maybe later in the summer when it wouldn't be too crowded. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of my favorite places to camp. Great family atmosphere… there is a great walking path on one side of the park and a beach in the bay with warm water on the other side. This is our ideal base camp for visiting Sea World. The snack shack has treats for the kids and ice to fill our ice chest before leaving in the mornings to the park. You can view the fire works from here. It’s my second time staying here and its awesome I hope to come again soon. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Our $25 rate reflects 50% Camp Club USA rate and on other days we received 10% off Good Sam rate. Helpful, courteous and knowledgeable staff. The campground is all asphalt with small to medium height trees and small tracts of grass. Access to bay walkway. 24 hour security. Lots of covered trash cans are emptied frequently. Not enough laundry machines and no place to fold or hang laundry. They have a 30-day limit on stays and that keeps long-term folks from getting too much stuff on the site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The park is conveniently located on the north side of Mission Bay, off of I-5, but far enough away to not have excessive traffic noise. Freight trains can be heard vibrating in the distance, but it’s nothing like another local RV park. It’s a huge parking lot broken up by planted trees at each site. The trees didn’t impact our fixed satellite but could in other sites. There are no amenities such as pool or spa, just two shower/restroom buildings and a snack shack. Friendly security guards at the front gate will open it for you, otherwise it requires a key card if they are not in the booth, perhaps later at night. It doesn’t seem like a dangerous area, although there are a lot of homeless people wandering around Mission Bay. Across the access road (outside of the security gate) is a swimming beach and boat ramp, but around the bend is a new sewage pump station (not sure of treatment level). Many reviewers have mentioned the strict rules, which we don’t mind, it keeps a park nice. However, our fresh water connection chose the wrong park to spring a small drip leak. Security came over (after a puddle had accumulated on the second day) and turned off our water. They followed up with a phone call and told us: “Water is not allowed to hit the ground here.” We improved it and put a bucket under the area. We kept our black water closed off while we were here. If you spill any there is a $50 charge to clean it up since the sewer outlets are raised, so it would be difficult to adequately clean it up yourself. We found the striped-off sites to be adequately sized. The water and electric is behind the adjacent site, but sewer is more in the center of the site. They told us they try to stagger rigs if not crowded, which is a good practice. When we were here though, tree trimming on half the grounds forced us all in one section, which was OK. You can pay $75 to $90 to have a great view of Mission Bay and sunsets (if you have a rear view that is, sites are strictly back-in so motorhomes are out of luck). Or $65-$75 to view the Bay on the other side facing east (same problem with motorhomes). We used Passport America, (Valid Mon-Thurs in winter, no reservations) and paid around $27 with tax. PA sites are only available in the vast interior, although upon checking in, you can hike in (not drive!) and look around for a site that may have a peek view of something. We were here for the easy scenic cycling, though. We love cycling around Mission Bay, and the campground is right next to the East Mission Bay segments of the trail. The west side trails are much better, but you can ride to there too, or all around the bay in 16 miles. If the Rose Creek bike bridge is ever completed to the west of Mission Bay RV, the location of this campground will rival the other Bay park, which for now is a 15-minute ride closer to the fabulous western sections of the bay bike trails. There is even a wide bike trail that winds around the peninsula where this campground is located, good for families. We stayed for three days and rode every day, returning to our rig that had all the necessary hookups working great, even the free WiFi. We will definitely be back if they maintain the Passport America deal. By our standards (we like scenery and large sites) the camp gets a 6, but because of the great location and the Passport America opportunity, it goes up to an 8. If you can afford the view sites, you may just give it a 10. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an well-maintained asphalt parking lot with very tight sites, lots of security guards and a chain link fence. Only a few of the sites are big enough to handle a full-sized RV and a tow car/truck. The rest of us are parked in front on the road. But it's a great location, close to many tourist sites in the area. It also has an asphalt walking/biking trail along Mission Bay. But it also has lots of rules and when you check in, you sign a form that lets them charge a fine to your credit card if you break any of the rules. For example, if you accidentally spill anything while dumping, you'll be fined $50 to $200. You're not allowed to walk your dog along the waterfront after 9 a.m. and before 4 p.m., etc., etc. The waterfront site are all back-ins, which means motorhomes can't enjoy the view. Even with most of the sites empty, you're not allowed to face the ocean. We stayed here for three days and when we decided to extend our stay through the weekend, we were told our rate would almost double, despite the fact that the park was mostly empty. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great location accessible to Mission Bay Park areas and bike paths/trails. We chose a site in the middle of the park with no water views, but at $50 per night it seemed a fair price. 15 minutes to Coronado, 10 minutes to Old Town and downtown. Site had plenty of room. Back-ins only. Restrooms and showers were old and a bit cramped but adequate. We were not told this was a Passport America park when we checked-in so be sure to let them know. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice park and quiet park. Park Personnel were very friendly and helpful. Lots of security. Need a key card to get in at night. Short walking distance to Mission Bay Park. Some sites right on the Water with a great view (though a chain link fence) of Mission Bay and Sea World (fireworks). Internet was a bit hit and miss where we were at. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here in a motor coach and also rented a trailer for relatives. The site was next to the beach. There was a reasonable amount of space between units and the security was good: guards or key card access. Quiet setting. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Check in was easy and fast, has a great staff. Nice level site: everything work great. I was impressed with their security and patrols. Workers were very people oriented and could not do enough for you. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground is within minutes of most of San Diego's finest attractions. Although the campground is all asphalt and has only a few trees, it has the world's finest weather. Additionally, it has a friendly and knowledgable staff, an active security team and is clean and well maintained. There is NO beach access, only a limited access to the bay. We stayed using PassPort America and paid only $25.00. We camped here in a Motorhome.

All site had 20/30/50 amps (good power), water, sewer, useless cable TV with a couple channels of snow, deep and wide sites, plus level. Over the air TV will pick up lots of channels. All sites are back in with hookups in the right place. Roads and sites are good asphalt. The Wi-Fi worked very well but speed was slow. Staff was nice at check in and did everything that I ask. A little road noise from I-5 but inside you cannot hear it. The train tracks run north and south next to I-5 and you may hear a little noise from that. Verizon cell and air card work well here. Park was very clean, neat, full of small trees and plants but no shade to park under. Staff works hard to keep the grounds clean and it looking nice. The park is under guard day and night plus an eight foot high chain link fence around it. You will receive a gate card to get in if guard is missing. Coming out of park is no problem. Park was close to empty at our stay. Rates were a mix of PPA and Good Sam. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Most of the previous comments are correct. This is a family resort with tons of kids on skateboards, bikes, and scooters. So, if quiet is what you are looking for, then try another place. Bathrooms are clean, but very small stalls and showers that are extremely dated. Needs an update badly. Close to all the attractions, and convenient to the Interstate. Probably will try another spot next time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It is all asphalt but very well kept. The all-back in spots are perpendicular to the drives which made the effort a little harder but do-able if you take your time. The trees are nice and the proximity to the bay is very nice. The primary draw for the park is location to Sea World and other attractions. We would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

My wife and I stayed here for the 4th. The previous statements about all asphalt is true. Staff was very nice and professional. The park was clean and neat. The Wi-Fi was spotty and slow. Bring your satellite because the cable is limited. Overall it was still a nice spot compared to nearby campground. This was close to a lot of things to do. The view of the fireworks from Sea world and other venues was great. We would stay here again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This RV park was actually nicer than what I expected. Previous reviews made it sound like it was just a parking lot with RV's. While there is not much grass, there is a lot of trees that at least add greenery and shade, and it is well maintained. We had a nice view of the harbor, and the beach was nice for the kids to play on, although it's not directly in the park. We would probably stay here again if we were to go to San Diego to see SeaWorld. We had a fantastic view of the fireworks from SeaWorld as it was across the bay. Wish there would have been a pool that the kids could swim in. The beach close by was ok, but not the best. There was a gate that provided a nice walkway along the water which we took advantage of after dinner. We camped here in a Motorhome.

If an asphalt parking lot with a fence around it with no amenities by Mission Bay is your cup of tea then this is your place. The RV next to us was dumping their water by the picnic table. It is not one of my favorite RV parks. I would much rather go elsewhere. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The campground is enclosed by a chain link fence, and there is security patrol and entrance. It has access to a small beach area and a very nice park. The ocean view is nice but it is not accessible from your campsite. You have to walk a distance. The view is nice. The staff is very friendly and they had an Easter Egg hunt for the children. We had a nice visit and it was quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed our visit. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This large park is well cared for. All sites are back-in on asphalt; the whole park is a huge asphalt parking lot with trees marking the site edge. They are extremely strict on sewer spills and can fine you up to $400 for a spill. Be sure the person who takes you there has noted any issues on the site before he/she leaves. We had to move due to a tree that blocked our satellite. Sites have picnic tables. This is a gated park with security. Part of the park backs the water. There is little traffic noise in the park. They have limits on your stay and the type of rig you bring. They do not want your mail sent to the park. Note: This park is both Good Sam and Passport America. They worked with me on the total cost utilizing the elements of both plans, which I appreciated. The local amusement park has fireworks on weekends you can watch from the beach if you carry your gate card to open the walk gate both ways. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is all about location. It's a great place to get to everything from. The campground itself has no more charm than a department store parking lot. All asphalt, sites are fairly small. Still, it is clean, well maintained, and secure. Staff were friendly, and went out of their way to be helpful. The showers were clearly constructed for pigmys. (Assuming privacy was even a consideration.) At 6'3", I have to duck significantly to get below the shower rail bar. Once standing up straight again, I am looking down into the stalls on either side of me. Who builds these things?? Our main complaint was with the wireless internet. The wireless coverage itself (i.e. signal) was decent, but the internet connection via wireless was very hit and miss. Often there were long delays trying to log into sites like Hotmail, and Skype was a total write off. Access was changed from open to security enabled during our stay, but with no noticeable improvement in service. All in all, not a bad park for exploring San Diego, but with minimal facilities. If internet is important, consider somewhere else. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The $34.00 rate is based on pay for 6 nights get the 7th free at $40 per night for a premium space. This park could not be located in a better spot for someone who wishes to see the sights of San Diego. Not more than 15 minutes to any of the major sites. You don't even have to get on the freeway to get to Sea World which is visible from the park. The park is spotless and well maintained. Entry and exit are gate controlled with complete perimeter fencing. Security patrols the park and the adjoining two mobile home parks continuously. There are 6 price levels of sites available depending on your location preference. If you spend a lot of time in your rig, I would highly recommend the bay view sights as they are located on the west side of the park with an unobstructed view of Mission Bay. #36 is an end unit with only one neighbor and outstanding views. There is a card controlled pedestrian gate right there which will allow you access to all of the pedestrian walkways along Mission Bay. There is a also a private beach and launch ramp on the eastern perimeter of the park great for the kids to burn off some energy and to launch your toys. There are limited laundry facilities. There is no pool, spa or clubhouse if you are looking for those. The office staff and security are very friendly and very helpful in all matters. The cable TV is basic and I would rate it below average only because of the somewhat poor reception. I would most definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The only cons I can think of here are smaller spots & all concrete. No landscaping. Lots of rules but that seems to be the norm here in the city. We stayed here just at a month and I don't' remember the rates we payed but it was reasonable with San Diego averages. Pros--LOVE LOVE LOVE the Mission Bay area! Beautiful park, playgrounds, walking/sidewalks, very close to a HUGE dog park (fiesta island dog park--it's amazing!). Super convenient location, right there at Sea World, my husband and son rode their bicycles to the Sea World parking lot. The RV park itself doesn't offer much, but due to the location and being close to a fabulous park makes up for that. In the summers a pool would probably be great, but since we were here in "winter" it didn't' bother us to not have one. We liked this location and would definitely stay here again. Great Wi-Fi, nice and fast.Bathrooms were decent but we use our 5th wheels facilities anyway so that's not a biggie for us. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed over the New Year's weekend with our two small children ages 4 and 8 and saw plenty of other children while here. Located outside of this gated RV park is a playground with plenty of activities. It's just minutes from Sea World and located off the I-5. Sites are well lighted: we asked to move because our original site (#103) was under a bright light. The area is level with some grass behind some units and a walking area. Parking is on asphalt. Would recommend the preferred sites as they appeared more private, if this is what your looking for. The fireworks put Sea World's to shame. Would like to visit again in the summer. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

One of the most populated campgrounds we've stayed in. It's basically a huge parking lot with some grass strips here and there. The one thing you can't beat with this area is LOCATION. It's right in the middle of it all in Mission Bay. It's full of kids but that's good for us because we have a few too. We would probably stay here again if some of our favorite campgrounds further out are full. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I stayed at 3 parks this week and this was my favorite I was very happy with it. Originally we were going to stay at campland however they would not allow a Saturday check in so we defaulted to this park and we are glad we did. Excellent security; I welcome the patrols and the gates. The park is literally right on the bay as soon as you walk out of the gate there is a warm water beach. They had a family movie night and free hot dogs one day we were there. We had excellent neighbors and the staff was extremely friendly. This was our base camp for our visit to the San Diego Zoo and Sea World. I should note that Sea World does offer RV parking for $17 if you want to extend your stay here and plan on visiting this theme park. Last comment I have regarding this park is utility location the utility pole was at the rear of the camp site our coax cable did not reach the pole so we did not get to use the free cable TV for this trip but it was not missed. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We found this to be very deceiving advertising on behalf of Mission Bay RV. The spots of grass which they refer to for dogs are patches of dirt placed here and there, and the dog park is a dog patch, very small and run down. The stalls are awkward, particularly if you have an extension or push-out on your RV. The picnic tables are near the sewage exits from your neighbor's RV. The parking they refer to is directly in front of your RV, not additional areas. Yes, the location is nice, but that's about it. The stipulations for the park seem very pretentious, no RVs pre 1995, no rust, and the list goes on. To us it seemed like a glorified parking lot, not to mention it is surrounded by a trailer park that doesn't quite meet the standards they push on their customers. Even with the nice location, we'd definitely choose another park next time we are in San Diego. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We've stayed here before and will most likely stay again. The number one thing this park has going for itself is it's location it is prime! We visited all of the other parks in the vicinity none other compared to the convenience of this locale. The park was clean and secure (security guard at gate at all times). It is very "no frills" however. They say they have WiFi (internet), but we were never able to get it to work and when we inquired they repeatedly told us they were "fixing the connection." That went on for 4 days or so. We did have limited cable, which was nice. The office staff was knowledgeable. Overall we appreciated the stay and will mostly likely come back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We recently stayed here for 2 nights. We actually were pleasantly surprised by how clean it was and how close it was to the ocean. You could not beat the location as it's central to almost all attractions in San Diego. Sites offer plenty of space and the staff was nice. No complaints and would stay again. I see nothing wrong with this park as some of the other reviewers have. People that complain about security must be planning to do something wrong. I welcome it, it make me feel safe. There is lots of pavement, which in my opinion keeps things clean. Each site has a tree and there is grass between you and your neighbors behind you. I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The trailer park that you drive past to get to the RV Park is old and rundown looking but that is the last you see or hear from it. You won’t even know it’s there once in the RV Park. The only down side is the sewer hookup is in the middle of your neighbors patio area and your neighbors is in yours however there was no smell or mess. It was a trip hazard though. Why they couldn’t put your sewer hookup in your site I don’t know. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This place is basically a large asphalt parking lot at the sea with RV hook-ups sticking out of the ground. Not much to look at, but the location is good, very close to the ocean. I had to laugh when pulling into the campground and seeing a permanently parked roach coach that serves as a place to eat (not that I would eat there). We camped here in a Motorhome.

Have just arrived from Phoenix, so happy to be near the ocean again and cooler temps. Not sure what the last reviewers issue was to stay 10 minutes and leave. Brenda at the office was very nice when checking in. So far its quiet, nice breeze. Large, back in spot with picnic table, some shade for the dogs. It's all good. I could only get week days because I did not plan ahead but I am just so happy to be back in Mission Beach. As far as the fence goes, hey it keeps the riff raff out and the mobile homes well they aren't so bad and probably worth a hell of a lot this close to the beach. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

KEEP ON DRIVING! I had 9 days of spring break planned here but came home the same day!! As soon as we drove in right past the ghetto trailer park that this is located next to "RV RESORT" it should of been my first sign of trouble. Then we entered the PRISON YARD. (Yes, it is fully fenced in chain link to prevent the trailer rif raf from coming in.) The whole park is cement. I paid extra for the wonderful premium site of a bay view. You are backed righted in next to the fence. You are looking thu the fence for your view. After a 10 minute rest we pulled out and headed home. I SHOULD OF READ THE REVIEWS FIRST. I got no refund and it was such a bad park I didn't care! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an ideal location from which to visit all of San Diego. Right on Mission Bay, water toys are the perfect accompaniment to RVing here. We paid extra for a "Preferred" site. It was definitely not worth it. We were backed-up to a solid chain-linked fence which was not an improvement on their other sites. The sites are narrow gravel spaces with lots of trees around the park. There was room for our awning and slide. Negotiating the streets of the park with our long rig was difficult. We pull 33.5" of trailer behind our Extended Cab Pickup and it didn't really fit all that well at registration and when exiting the park. There are numerous interesting places to walk around outside the park. There are no places for children to play within the park but since it is right on Mission Bay, just walking out of the RV park to the bayside provided great places for kids. Unfortunately, most of the parents allowed their children to bike, skateboard, and roller skate along the streets of the park which made it noisy and very difficult to drive in and out. Don't pay the extra money for bayside or beachside sites unless you are certain you have a view. Many of their preferred sites back up to a mobile home park and fences. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Quite simply, this place stinks. Stalag 13. It's just like a prison with all the guards and security fences.They even charge for visitors. The worst part is they towed my truck which was clearly in a marked Disabled parking space. I retrieved my truck from the tow yard free of charge and informed the San Diego Police and two local TV stations of the incident. While I was in the office explaining about the Disabled space, another camper came in and complained about the $50 ticket one of the security guard had just given him for rinsing off his dog with his outside shower hose. I have already told all of my friends and hope this note gets to every camper wanting to have a good camp out. Don't camp at Mission Bay RV Park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a parking lot that charges more than what you get. The bathrooms where worst than at state parks. The security is everywhere in the park sometimes more than four at a time which makes you feel like a jail compound. The staff is rude and make you feel unwanted. The only reason I give it a high 3 rating is because it is in San Diego. I will never return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I didn't care for "Security" driving by every hour or so and frequently stopping to take notes. I felt like I was on parole. The designated dog walk was dirt, little or no grass. The cable TV was very poor and the wifi was intermittent. This is a parking lot with power pedestals. However, it was close to Mission Bay and nice shopping areas. We'll find someplace else on our next trip to San Diego. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We had never camped at this park but assumed from the strict rules that it must be nice. You could not have a coach older than 1990 however when we arrived the "mobile homes" outside the park were extremely questionable. I think they have a lot of nerve to be concerned with the way our trailer looks. To me this was a glorified Wal-mart Parking lot with full hookups. Also, all the hookups were in the back of the spots. The sewer for the trailer next to you was right near your picnic table, makes for a yummy dinner! Also they turned on the sprinklers which wet the entire back of our trailer, so they could water the weeds. I think if you were planning to park your RV for a day or two to go to Sea World etc, ok place, but don't bring your kids there was nothing to do. Campland across the street looks like a lot more fun for families with kids. To me this wasn't camping but just a place for us to park the trailer. There was no grass or dirt for the kids! I will not ever return! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were here for 2 nights. It is a giant asphalt parking lot with larger trees only in the less desirable sites. There is no privacy between sites and there are bright lights all night overhead. Someone had 'turned off the water heater in the bathrooms', so there was only very cold water for showers. The bathrooms have been poorly updated (old tile removed and walls painted over) and there was no electricity in the bathrooms. The front desk seems completely uninterested in these problems. Location is good and it was quiet and a good place to bike ride. We will probably not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I paid for a waterfront space but it was a back-in. So I got a good view of the RV Park. And if you think you will walk to the beach be prepared to climb a 4 foot chain link fence. The park is all asphalt. There are lots of small trees though. I will NOT stay at this park again - too pricey for what you get. And they bill your credit card for the full amount when you make the reservation. Then will charge a hefty fee if you have to cancel. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is our 2nd time here. Is a nice, quiet campground, separated from the mobile home park. Staff was friendly & most live on-site. This CG is not as busy as Campland & that's why we choose this park. Wifi worked fine. Great view of ocean & the bay. Yes, there is chain link fencing but it didn't bother us. The only downside that I don't understand is there change in the reservation policy. When making a reservation, you are not allowed to request a specific spot. This CG has been near empty both times we've stayed. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A week before we needed to stay here, we called to confirm that they were still Passport America. They told us no. Okay. We agreed that $30 starting on October 1 was a good rate. Two days before we came, we called again and were once again told there were plenty of spaces available and the basic site was $30. Both times we were told NOT to make a reservation "because there were plenty of sites." Oddly, the website, where the $30 price was posted, went down the day before we arrived. When we got there, the man who "greeted" us said "I don't know who YOU talked to, but there aren't any $30 sites HERE!" The papers he handed us still included the old price along with a sheet of new prices, calling it a small increase (between the price increase and the additional tax which had been included, the basic site now costs nearly 50% more than was posted on the website two days ago and confirmed on the phone to us). Clearly, the whole interaction was meant to deceive. We are now at a much nicer place in Chula Vista, paying about what the people at Mission Bay tried to charge us. It's their business if they want to leave Passport America, of course, as it is their business to raise their prices. Deception, however is very bad business, and we'll never stay there. Would you want to give people like this your credit card information? We camped here in a Motorhome.

When I spoke to the sales person on the phone to book the sites they clearly embellished the truth. We booked a Ocean view site, which was barely viewable. We asked about grass and they confirmed our site did indeed have grass but literally 2 feet of it. We confirmed there was beach but it was across the street and looked disgusting. The place is nothing more than a parking lot surrounded by chain link fence, smaller trees provide little shade. Clearly not worth the money spent - the only saving grace for our trip was the close proximity to the theme parks and the RV park was very empty (no surprise). We will not stay there again We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is all asphalt. If you are looking for any grass or even shade it won't be here. We paid for an ocean view site. We had the view with a very high chain link fence as well. The security features ( the security gate) are good and close to the Zoo and Sea World. If you check in late hopefully you get someone that knows what they are doing. We didn't. Showers are clean but very small and not to private. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

The rv park has been undergoing changes to become more traveler friendly. In the past the rv park was home to many locals who had taken over. When we stayed there it was pleasant and we were comfortable. There was security at the entrance and they made sure we had proper access. They were having trouble with the sewer lines during our stay but had it resolved before we left. The wi-fi was not very good. No tables or fire pits. They are supposed to be providing those in the future. We would stay there again. We walked through the neighboring RV park (Campland at the Bay) we felt we made the right choice to stay at Mission Bay. Less cluttered, cleaner and quieter. Easy access to surrounding activities. Brings your bikes as you can take a nice bike ride around the bay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This small park is convenient and close to all attractions. It has clean facilities and the fees were good at $31 per night (Passport America rate). However, the suggestions from other reviewers, that there was "some noise" is an understatement. The park is right beside the I-5 and the noise was horrendous, except from about 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. in the morning. The other drawback is that the access road has "dips" and coming into and out of the park we hit out stairs because of the dip at the curb. We had to do repairs on them. Also watch the trees surrounding the park. We hit one of them as well. The park does not require a deposit, but charges a $25 cancellation fee on reservations. We stayed here for 4 nights and then left for a quieter park where we were happy to pay more. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice facility. Very friendly, helpful staff. Sites are a bit tight for big rigs, but we didn't have any problem with our vintage Class A. The clubhouse was well cared for, the laundry room among the best we've ever used and the facilities cleaned regularly. It can be a bit noisy, between the highway and railroad tracks, but after a day that just becomes background noise. The park is very close to Old Town, Balboa Park, the waterfront, Mission Bay; all the things we come to San Diego to see and do. We'll be back the next time we come to the area. We stay here often. The staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoy the swimming pool, ping pong and pool table. The laundry room has plenty of machines. The dog run is large and convenient. Close to freeway, but not too noisy thanks to the tree cover. It is along a train track, but the horns do not blow near this area. Cheap with Passport America discount. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We called this park on short notice and they had room for us. They even changed our location because our plans had changed and may have had to stay more than the original 3 days. The park staff was very good. All of the facilities were in very good shape. There is a noise issue because the park is between Interstate 5 and the main rail line from downtown San Diego, but you get used to it. After a day it becomes background noise. They did give us a AAA discount of 10% on the listed nightly rate. The park spaces are close and access to spots can be challenging (it was our first time doing any major backing/parking of the trailer). The cable TV worked fine in the site we had. The Wi-Fi was OK, but we were having computer problems, so I'll reserve judgement until another stay. Pool and laundry facilities are excellent. It's fairly easy access from I-5 from either North or Southbound. It's close to Mission Bay and very centrally located in San Diego. We'll definitely use this park again, if other options are not available. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Price reflects CC-USA rate. We stayed 4 nights. Full H/U included cable and Wi-Fi. Roadways through the park are very narrow. We were in a pull through and found it to be a good size. Lots of permanent residents, looks messy in some sites. Pool was nice: heated at 86 degrees. We may stay again, more so because of the close location to San Diego. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are very tight to get into, and close together. It's noisy: there's a freeway on one side and a railroad on the other. At least half the residents are seasonal. The campground facilities are clean and well-cared-for. We experienced a power surge when we pulled in which caused damage to several of our appliances. The park assured us the bill will be submitted to their insurance. This review will be updated when we hear more from the park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Noisy. Lots of Eucalyptus debris, leaves and branches everywhere. Spaces are very close together. About 50% permanent residents, who occupy all the best sites. But, sadly, it's the best park within 20 miles of San Diego. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

As a visitor from the UK I expected an American welcome. You know, "How you doing, nice to see you!" Sorry did not happen. Do you have a Trade Description Act here? In the UK your advertisements must be truthful and accurate. This site says and I quote: "Quiet and natural park like setting." No WAY: six lane Highway outside and a rail track at the back! The only natural setting is it has some trees! If you want a nights sleep, go somewhere else. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I don't understand the previous high ratings of this park. The park is mostly permanent residents and looks like a "trailer park". The road noise is a major problem , we cold not open the windows. The sites are extremely tight except for 4 large pull-throughs. The office, pool and other facilities were very nice. It is convenient to attractions in the area and that is really all it has to offer. Santee Lakes is a bit farther away but a far superior park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great location when in San Diego. Noisy, but after a couple of days one forgets that I-5 is next door. Great pool and spa. Price was very reasonable. Will stay here again as we did last winter. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We used our Passport America and that made it very affordable. It was centrally located to just about everything. Getting on and off the freeway (I-5) was very easy. The spaces were very comfortable. We were in a back-in for the first 4 days and then a double wide pull-through for the next 6 days. There was ample parking space for our car. The pool and spa were delightful. They were very friendly and helpful. We will go back here whenever we go visit our kids who live in San Diego. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a group attending a submarine veterans convention. We got a discounted group rate of 1/2 price. Pluses are the closeness to freeway, a nice pool and spa area, good Wi-Fi and TV. Minuses are the road noise and tight sites to get in and out of. Park has friendly staff. Fair number of full timers living in the park. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Ditto on the noise, park is sandwiched between the interstate and the railroad. Very limited number of TV channels. Wi-Fi worked well, but the provider ran a advertising banner under the browser within the usual browsing area. It was very annoying and I could not get rid of it. Site was not cleaned, trash around. There are better places to stay in the SD area during this time of year, like Campland, better TV and non-annoying Wi-Fi, limited hook-up section for the same price. A positive is that the park is located on Santa Fe St., which dead ends, and a paved bike path begins. I biked to La Jolla on good bike paths and well marked, wide bike lanes and returned along the coast and Grand ave. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I agree with the others who said that the major negative is its proximity to the freeway and the noise from the traffic. The staff was friendly and the park was well kept. Probably will camp elsewhere in San Diego next time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Santa Fe RV Resort is close to all of the tourist places one would want to see in San Diego, such as SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo. This campground has a lot of positives - a nice pool, a very nice clubhouse with pool table, full kitchen, nice exercise area with weights, nice laundry room, clean bathrooms, free WiFI and free cable, as well as full hook-ups at every site. In addition, AAA and Good Sam's members receive 10% off the rates, and Passport America members get 50% off the rates. The biggest negative is it's location - it's very,very close to I-5, a major highway, so it's noisy. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This would be a 10 if not for the noise of the interstate and railway along with the fairly tight spots for backing into. The location in San Diego is great. You can easily gain freeway access to get anywhere in the city. The front desk folks were very nice, the pool/rec room areas were very clean. I didn't use the showers, but others in my group did and they said they were very clean and worked well. We stayed for 9 days while attending the US OPEN and we were able to use passport for all 9 nights. Our total bill for 9 days was under $300 which is insanely cheap to stay in San Diego. I have stayed at another rv park located on mission bay a few times and it is MUCH more expensive. On my next trip to San Diego, I will stay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a small park compared to others in the area. It is located between the I-5 freeway and railroad tracks. We kept our windows closed all the time. The park allows dogs, but requires that they use a dog run that has very uneven ground. This wasn't a problem for us, but was for our aging dog, and could be problematic for some seniors. Sites are compact and rv parking is on blacktop, with gravel around the site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We tried out this park because they had a vacancy on President's Day weekend and accepted our Passport America on a holiday for a half price rate ($25) which is admirable. For what it is, they do a good job here. It is well run and friendly, with very well maintained facilities. The wifi worked great, and the cable TV has HBO, which is good because the eucalyptus trees blocked our fixed roof satellite. It is RV Park living with sites close together and unappealing gravel areas with picnic tables, which we had no desire to spend any time at. The setting was nicer than I expected though - it is at the north end of Santa Fe St., in a scenic valley next to a riparian stream ecosystem which they utilize for their dog walk area (watch for poison oak!). Adjacent is an industrial park, so activity there shuts down after work and it felt safe here. Santa Fe St. is a designated bike route, and the street ends just to the north and becomes the Rose Creek Bike Trail that connects to Gilman Rd in the La Jolla area. We were camped in the interior row, and just looked out onto other rigs, which I hate. The sites next to the stream would be much more desirable, especially for motorhomes that could back in and look out and have a pleasant view. The noise is the biggest drawback here, as it is next to I-5 which echoes through this valley with a thunderous roar. With our well-insulated coach it diminished to steady white noise, but once we stepped outside, wow! There is also a train track across the stream, which is fairly active, but is no match for the highway noise! We would return here if Campland was full or not accepting PA, but we would try and get a more desirable site. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Excellent! This Santa Fe RV Park has it all. Although they don't have sites made for 40's, they have spaces that will accommodate them. This is the first time we have stayed here and have extended our stay twice, so far. The pool is big and not crowded, the clubhouse has a pool table and ping pong table. Also in the clubhouse is a mini gym and a room with a big screen TV. Located all in same building is the 2 dozen washers and dryers. I really like the way they have this laundry room set up as it takes a money card that you 'load-up' either in the laundry room with a credit card or in the front office with cash. This money card can be used in the soda machines and it also lets you into the restrooms. The restrooms are large and very clean. The one and only reason this one didn't receive a 10 is its location to the freeway, which after a day or two disappears into the background. Santa Fe RV Park is 5 minutes from Pacific Beach, 10 minutes from Sea World and maybe 10 minutes from Seaport Village and Downtown. Also located 5 minutes from La Jolla, the jewel of Pacific Coast with its children's cove beach. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great place that is kind of in an odd location for a campground, but perfect location to see all of the city. Less than 5 minutes to Pacific Beach, 10 minutes to Sea World, 15 minutes to Petco Park. SUPER Clean! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an urban park that is convenient for seeing the San Diego sites. The campsites are level concrete pads with patio, picnic table and grills on a post. The laundry and bath/shower facilities were modern and very clean. There is an exercise room in the clubhouse as well as an outdoor pool. The staff were friendly and helpful. The CG is tucked in between I-5 and an AMTRAK line. We were here in the fall and slept with the windows closed so the noise did not interfere with sleep but the noise is constant. The WiFi was not available at our site for 3 of the 7 days we were here which is part of the reason for the 7 rating. We camped here in a Motorhome.
