Great getaway! This park is well-run and although we did not have any hookups, we thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful surroundings of a mountain camping experience. The sites are well-spaced and the restroom / shower facilities were very nice. Note that the campground is another five-mile drive in on a gravel road after the visitor center at the entrance to the park (a total of 15 miles from the nearest town of Eagle). We would definitely stay here again. Be sure to make your reservations early. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I was surprised not to see this one listed yet - it is a gem of the Colorado State Park system. We have stayed here two years in a row and greatly enjoyed it. The lake draws the fishermen and there is a great trail to hike around it. You can ride your ATV right out of the campground and there are miles of legal roads to ride up in the mountains. The stars at night here are breathtaking on a clear night - no light pollution. The rangers patrol after dark and keep the place in control. They also have yurts and cabins. I almost hate to let the cat out of the bag on this place.. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
