Tips from campers about Granite, CO
- mightywag See Twin Lakes which is very nearby and beautiful. Jump over to Leadville, the highest City in the US over 10,000'. There is a mine outside Leadville you can drive up into which is over the tree line. Those folks who live there must have more red-blood cells per capita than any other group of people in the US. On a serious note. The altitude is quite high at WinMar (over 9500') The first night (which was my first night in Colorado - left 1000' alt Lexington KY the day before) I was nearly incapacitated. Very weak, slurred speech, dropping things, light headed, slightly nauseous and a bit confused was my initial reaction. However, by the next morning I was much better. By the time we left, after 2 nights I was about 80%.2 years ago Win Mar Cabins
