This is one of the gems of the Connecticut State Park system. Extremely affordable with a view of the beautiful Lake Waramaug from many sites. Litchfield County has so many great things to see and this Lake is one of them. The campground closed its concession/camp store for 2009 which is a real bummer. You used to be able to get coffee, breakfast and lunch here but no more. The beach is nice and you can walk or bike around the lake. We camped here in a tent and for $13.00 per night this is a true bargain. The sites overlooking the water are prime and book early. The only downside to this State Park are the bathrooms - they are always dirty. The security at the Park does a nice job and they strictly enforce quiet time and no more wood on the fire at 10 p.m. Our family of 5 camped here in a tent with friends and had a blast despite the rain. I would highly recommend this park to folks looking for a get away from it all back to nature camp experience without 40 foot RV's blocking the view. We camped here in a Tent.
