What can you say about this campground besides it is a true gem? Although very expensive, the campground is impeccably well kept. Come here often. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It's Disney so you really can not go wrong. However, larger RVs can have trouble navigating and backing in depending on the site. We have a 40' 5er and did a scrape up the back of our rig on the electric post that sits mid site when we pulled out. Cars/trucks on the ends of sites makes for a little hairy navigation in and out of sites and interior roads. But it is definitely doable with a little patience and watching carefully. The campground itself is first rate. Clean and set up fairly well with plenty of side to side room. Limited areas to walk the dogs but enough to get the job done. Staff very attentive and willing to do what they can to make your stay comfortable. We will certainly go back some day!! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The Fort Wilderness/Disney World experience is definitely a 10 out of 10. Or maybe 11 out of 10. I simply cannot imagine any place on earth where every activity you experience reflects a passion for excellence, where every employee you encounter has no other goal than to make sure you're happy, and where the range of enjoyable options is essentially inexhaustible. As an example, we originally thought we'd play golf one day while we were down there. When we asked the concierge how to arrange for golf (imagine a campground with a concierge), we were told that (1) they would send a baggage cart to transport us and our golf clubs to the Settlement Depot, (2) from where Disney would provide complimentary taxi service to whatever golf course we desired. After deciding not to play golf, we rode our bikes around and checked out the swimming pool, the water play area, the canoe and kayak rentals, the stables, the fishing ponds, the Hoop-Dee-Doo Review venue, the movie and campfire area (where Disney has a Chip 'n' Dale sing-a-long every night), the marina and boat rental area, and the bicycle and jogging paths, plus probably other areas I just don't remember. It's hard not to give a campground like that a 10: there are so many things to do (apart from the theme parks), that listing them strains memory and turns into a run-on sentence. That night, after dinner at the Trail's End Restaurant, we took a motor launch over to the Contemporary Resort, then the monorail to the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa where we listened to a jazz orchestra for a while, then the monorail over the the Magic Kingdom were we watched the fireworks, and then a different motor launch back to the campground. Another reason why a 10 just seems not to do the experience justice. Admittedly, the place can be expensive. It costs money to offer that kind of excellence, which means one should be prepared to pay for it. All things considered, though, even at the relatively high cost, Fort Wilderness is about as good as it gets. We camped here in a Motorhome.

After experiencing some issues last year (difficult site and barking dogs) I spoke with a park manager who told me that to avoid the issues we should next time request an "easy" access rated site in a non-pet loop. I booked a premium site this year and upon check-in was assigned a site in a no-pet loop rated "difficult" to get into. Another site was assigned (across the street in the same loop) and I promptly discovered the RV on one side of us had a big dog, the RV on the other side had two small dogs, an RV two spaces away had a dog, and the RV across the street had a very big dog that barked often while the owner was away all day. The front desk's response was that the other RV's never told them they had pets and offered to let me move (no sense since I could wind up in another no-pet loop in the same situation). Fort Wilderness is immaculate with nice family friendly amenities and activities but as a prior reviewer stated I get the feeling their cast member quality is fraying around the edges. Price reflects the rate for a stay at Fort Wilderness only, no park tickets. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful campground carved into pine forest. Wonderful landscaping and amenities. There are tons of things to do here, not all free: canoeing, boating, swimming, biking, archery, shuffleboard, tennis. Roads are paved, sites are concrete/decomposed granite (depending on RV or tent). Bathrooms and laundry room are clean and attractive. This is a very large campground and it is the perfect place to walk! There are lots of trails. We particularly enjoyed taking a boat across the lake to see the other resorts; this was free. The only negative really was that there is no Wi-Fi at the sites (only at major buildings), and it would have been good to get a TV guide at check-in. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were on site #1212. This review will be of the whole resort including campground. We have camped here many times so we know the drill. We were here specifically for marathon weekend. Upon check in we already knew our site because of a snafu with in laws checking in 1 day earlier. Check in cast member still would not tell us site number though, insisting we had to go to overflow and sit and wait for a text. Glad we did not because they NEVER texted us. Also many roads would be closed during the weekend but we were never informed about them at check in. In laws were able to get a brochure about the closures but they had to insist on getting one it was never offered to them.Every camper checking in this weekend should have received one in their packet no questions. It also should have been posted on restrooms and bus stops. It probably impacted many people trying to get to parks early until 1 pm. Also was not told where to catch bus to take runners and others to race area. Also no TV info in packet. Disney has all these channels to tell you how great they are but don't inform of what channels are what anywhere. We were able to enjoy our stay because we had low expectations since we are locals. But if we were here to go to parks it would not have been fun. The campground was great, but we ordered a giddy up and go at Trails End and it was cold and the biscuits were so hard that we left them out for the animals who didn't touch them either! It kind of ruined our first night tradition. Disney does lots of things right but you can tell they are starting to crumble at the edges. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our first visit to Fort Wilderness Campground. It is a huge campground with 799 large, wooded sites and almost every amenity imaginable. From our loop, it was a short walk to see the evening fireworks and parade of boats. For the loops farther away, most guests used golf carts. Because most RVers have a dog, an excellent kennel is conveniently located about five minutes away. Transportation to and from Disney World by motor coach or boat is excellent right from the campground. We found the campground fees quite high especially when you consider that Wi-Fi is an extra charge. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

After traveling two days from the New England area, paying extra for a preferred site, and looking forward to a Disney vacation, I was miserable for the first two hours at Fort Wilderness because of the site assigned to us. It was in the 300 loop and was plain horrible. No matter where you sat at this location, you would be facing the road viewing trash bins, looking at hookups from other camping vehicles or cars parked horizontally in front of other big rigs. There was no privacy at all; it felt like we were in a fishbowl with hardly any foliage separating sites. What a disappointment! We went back to check-in and explained how disappointed we were, and, honestly, the gentleman could not have been any nicer. He gave us a list of available sites for seven nights and told us to go pick one out. We did just that and found a suitable site in the 200 loop backing up to a stream, lots of Florida foliage, lots of space, and offering lots of privacy. The 200 loop was quiet, and I don't recall seeing any dogs. This was what we had in mind for a Disney camping experience. Everything was beautiful, clean, well maintained and it was walkable to the marina to catch the boat to the Magic Kingdom. We had our bikes and did a bit of biking around the campground, especially to the pool area. You do need some kind of transportation if you want to see and do things in the campground. We saw many golf carts but they were not out of control or taking over the roads. Of course, in September, things may be a little less crowded! We would definitely return to Ft. Wilderness. They have thought of everything for a good time. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Overall one of the best parks we stayed at. And it should be for the price! However, be aware of site selection. Someone needs to do a survey of the sites to be sure that sites assigned to specific length vehicles are actually able to accommodate the vehicle PLUS tow vehicle. We could not get into our original site because it was on a curve in the road and we had no room to maneuver to back in camper. We have a 31 foot camper plus 20 foot tow vehicle. Luckily, there we other sites available but had this been the busy season we would have driven 1200 miles to be really disappointed. And we were even in a premium loop. Some of the loops were really tight to even drive through with a large camper. The other thing we didn't appreciate was there was no way to drive anywhere on property because you couldn't park. And there were no drop off areas, in either the Meadows Trading post or over by the boat dock. This forces you to either rent a bike, golf cart or ride the bus. We didn't appreciate that. We brought bikes but my Mom had to rent one and they didn't allow her to keep it overnight because you needed to have a light on your bike to ride after dark, and their rental bikes didn't have them. How hard would it be to put lights on the bikes? So we had to have it returned by 4:30, which left us without transportation in the evening to attend the campfires and shows. Really annoying, to be honest. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely return. There is so much to do on the actual property that Florida residents would come here and not even go the any of theme parks. We would have like a few more days to just spend at the campground. The price we paid at $70 dollars a night was acceptable but I would not pay over $100 for a campsite here. That is just too much money for camping! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful setting, lots to do (pools, playgrounds, boat rentals, horseback riding, carriage rides, dog park, outdoor movies, restaurant), short boat ride to Magic Kingdom, and first rate Disney customer service. We're new to RV'ing, but it's hard to argue with Disney. The cast members are friendly and the park is immaculate. There is lots to keep you busy and away from the parks. We brought our bikes and rode everywhere. My only complaint was that the vegetation wasn't overly dense between the campsites, but I didn't feel overcrowded or that we lacked privacy. I guess I just expected something different. We had a premium site, so maybe we were spoiled. Overall, we loved it and feel its worth the extra cost (you get free parking at the parks, and that's $14/day). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is by far the nicest, cleanest park that we have ever visited. Exceptional staff, wide paved bicycle paths throughout, two pools, sandy beach, sites are level and wide. We camped here for six nights and didn't want to leave. We never went into the parks, and there was still plenty to do at campground. LOVE this park!! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Out of all the places we have been so far, this has been the best. The bathhouse is outstanding, clean, a lot of room in the shower stalls to move around in. The sites have a lot of room between them as well. They have very little in the store for camping supplies most of it is like every other store in Disney. Absolutely great. Quite possibly the best campground anywhere. The cast member at check-in was extremely friendly and helpful. He helped us get a shady site and gave us accurate directions to the site. Anything you could ask for as far as things to do, adult or children. We rented a golf cart from an outside source and were very glad we did. This place is huge! Everything was immaculate including the bathhouses. Two swimming pools, but we only used the main one. It too was huge and had a slide and a kiddie pool area. They also had almost non-stop activities for the kids poolside. They show movies at night, also have the "Hoop-de-doo" musical revue. (we didn't go to it). We did enjoy the horseback riding. They offer free bus and boat transportation to the Disney parks and other areas. There's also a wonderful hiking/biking trail from Ft Wilderness to the Wilderness Lodge. We would definitely stay here again, even if we don't visit the theme parks. It is a little pricey, but well worth it. The only complaint I can even think of is there were a good many lizards all around. Kind of bugged my wife and kids, but they never bothered anyone. After a couple days I think the girls even got used to them. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

What can one say about Disney camping. We had a premium site that was concrete and level. There was plenty of room to back the camper into the spot. The baths and showers were immaculate, so much so that we didn't even need to use the camper's facilities. There are so many things to do here from visiting the parks to taking in the amenities of camping. Staff was wonderful and most accommodating. Yes, it was expensive from a camping perspective, and yet we enjoyed ourselves totally. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This campground was awesome! I think we will measure all others against this one. We got a premium site as we have a Big Rig (40 ft 5th wheel) and it was very nice: concrete, level and easy to get into. There are two stores onsite for your needs and the bus service was fantastic. Riding the boat to the Magic Kingdom was great too. The dinner/dance halls are great too so be sure and go to them. The restaurants are also great. The pool looked nice although we never got time to go. You could spend all your time here and never go to the parks! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Disney, what more to say. Stayed in the 800 loop which was undergoing some electric upgrading. The company would come in the early morning, and hand dig a trench for a site, do their electrical work and refill the trench and leave. We closely inspected their work and you could not tell they were even there. The pine needles were even replaced, quite remarkable actually. The first time or two I thought I was looking at a different site, until I paid specific attention one day. It was a nice touch that there was no backhoe and other noise makers disturbing your vacation. Another nice Disney attention to detail that many might overlook. I am sure it would be quicker and cheaper to have the equipment used, but the Disney experience would not have been there for our vacation. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We spent 5 nights here while visiting Walt Disney World. The sites in the 400 loop are extremely tight to get into but are very nicely landscaped. The transportation system here makes getting to the parks a breeze but you just have to give yourself a little extra time if you are taking the boats and buses. The activities for the kids by the pool and campfire are excellent. We watched the fireworks from the beach each night as well as the water pageant. We also went to the Hoop Dee Do Review at the Pioneer Hall and really enjoyed the food and the show. We will definitely stay here again even though it is a little pricey. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We had sites 1729 and 1731. Our sites had concrete and coquina rock, w/e/s and disney cable with a few added channels, picnic table and stand up grill. No fires at sites. Campground provides a nightly campfire program for all campers with a movie and sing a long. Shady loop, clean bath house, trash picked up constantly. Cable in 1729 was too far to use, needed an extension. Can rent golf carts, we brought our bikes to use. Large swimming pool with slide,kids waterplay area, very small hot tub for 1298 sites. Lots of activities and boat to get to MK. Bus transportation to everywhere else.Bring decorations to place on sites, lots of people go looping to see them. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Fort Wilderness is the park by which we measure all other campgrounds. There is so much good to say about this place. Just know that although the price is high, but you do indeed get what you pay for. It's a wonderful place to stay, and we always want to stay longer. The only thing keeping me from giving them a 10 is that they still do not offer wi-fi at your campsite. You can at least take your laptop and get a wi-fi signal at 3 different locations in the park, for free, which is an improvement from the past. Another nit-picky thing, the sinks in the restrooms are the motion-activated type, with cold water only, so for the guys it makes shaving a tricky challenge. These are minor things and overall we love camping here and will surely be back again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It has been several years since we stayed at Ft. Wilderness. The rate was extremely high, but we thought we'd give it a try. We didn't want to pay the extra $20 for a premium site that possible may have been more maneuverable. If you don't get there fairly early in the day before the neighbors across the street show up, it might be almost impossible to back into the slot. The campground is obviously geared to renting golf carts as evidenced by the notes left on vehicles about being parked too close to the road. Also, there seemed to be fewer buses within the campground; again, encouraging renting the golf carts. We drove our vehicle to the theme parks and walked to get around the campground because we got tired of waiting for the buses. Even though the walks were long, we enjoyed taking short cuts through the woods. The property is beautiful. The pool was extremely chlorinated, but with the large numbers of people, it must have been required for health reasons. The bathrooms were not clean, which is not typical of what we have experienced in the past. We took our showers in the afternoon after pool time, and I would have expected them to be clean. There is no wifi. Do check in online prior to arrival. We did like getting the bill by email. It will probably be a few years before we go back because the cost exceeded the value for us. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This rate reflects their spring break rates, probably the highest of the year. This place is so convenient and all transportation to Disney properties and Downtown Disney are provided for free. All sites are level, most wooded. If you must use your Sat TV pick your site carefully. We stayed in site 837 and loved it. It's Disney, so expect plenty to keep you busy and enjoy! There's great dog walking areas behind most sites in this loop. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Disney does it right! We are huge Disney fans and have stayed all over the property since it opened in 1971. From the Boardwalk to Ft Wilderness, they all impress. We've stayed at Ft Wilderness the last three years in March. We've reconnected with old friends here and had family fly in. Needless to say the adult children and our grandchildren LOVE IT. It's all about making memories as my parents did in 1959 when we traveled across country from CT to CA to visit Disneyland, among so many other tourist sites. This park is extremely large, yet navigatable. It is expensive when staying a week but the ambiance and amenities while away the thought of that. You're in the most visited place in the world. We especially enjoyed fishing from our pontoon boat rental, complete with captain and all of the gear. We had quite a fishing tourney going on between myself, our daughter and grandsons. (Got photos of me with the biggest, 7.5 lb bass fish of the afternoon. My oldest grandson caught the most with 4. My younger grandson caught a couple and one slid off the hook.) The guide was great. I highly recommend this outing. (We could go on and on.) It was a perfect week among the shade provided by the campground trees. Very clean as you would expect and close to so many activities like the Hoopty Doo Review. The supply store had all the supplies and food you would likely need. If you are hedging on the expense: Don't! It is going to provide years and years of memories for young and not-so-young! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Disney magic and everything about the campground (roads, pools, bath houses) are in like new condition. Lots of Disney style activities at the park (nightly movies, campfire sing-along, etc) and the swimming pools are awesome. If you are staying here you know its not gonna be cheap but its a great Disney experience and by staying onsite at Disney you get to enjoy the extra magic hours at the various parks. Only two issues diminished the Disney magic during our stay; (1) all campground sites are back-in sites. If you are traveling in a larger RV do not book the standard site. I could have never gotten into our site without the help of a very experienced neighbor who took 20 minutes to help guide me into our site. Once in the site it was adequate in size and very nicely landscaped, but when we visit again we will pay the extra for the premium site. Also, (2) we were placed in a pet loop and I have no idea why. We do not have pets, and generally have no problems with other pets, but our neighbors during this stay had 2 dogs and set up a portable fence right up to the side of our RV site. Their dogs barked at the sun, barked at the moon, barked at people walking by, barked at cars driving by, barked at golf carts passing by, barked at the wild turkeys in the campground, they barked, and barked, and barked. Miserable coming back late from extra magic hours at the parks and being woken at the crack of dawn by the barking. We would definitely stay here again, but in a premium site in a non-pet loop. NOTE: I guesstimated the nightly price of our stay using the rate sheet at the campground concierge desk. Our stay was inclusive of the campground, park passes, and meal plan, so I don't know exactly what our specific breakdown was. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first time at Fort Wilderness. The sites were clean and all the amenities were excellent. Having transportation to/from the parks was a very nice feature. Three things that keep me from rating it a 10. PRICE - it was nice - but $104 per night nice - not really. Spring break and they jacked the rates to maximum. Dog loop - we asked for the preferred loop so we could take our dogs. Reservation confirmation said they would TRY to accommodate us. They won't guarantee it with the reservation. Bottom line is we didn't know for sure we had a place for our dogs until we arrived. Parking - They kept harassing everybody to keep all wheels of the truck on pavement. The sites are small and it was impossible. Their solution is to move your vehicle to overflow parking (miles away). We all felt it was to get us to rent their very expensive golf carts. It was very hard to maneuver in and out with a trailer because everyone had the noses sticking in the road to stay on the pavement. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We hadn't planned on staying here, but after we got to central Florida, several other campers said we should try to stay here. We had such a good time. We did not go into the "Theme parks," but we still enjoyed Disney. They are all back in sites. Ours was in loop 1600, I think 1603. It was very spacious and level. These four loops 1600,1700,1800 and 1900 looked like the best. Others didn't seem to have as much space. Nice big pool across the street. We rode a boat shuttle and then rode the monorail to several other areas of the park. There was a lot to see and do here without going into the Disney parts. We came during a value time, which was about $30/day cheaper. Check the web sites for those dates. We had 3 dogs, which was no problem. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Although we have been here before we where disappointed in Ft. Wilderness this time as a "total" experience. The sites are nice and roomy, hook ups convenient and most access in the big rig loops are fairly easy to get into and out of, but not all of them. You will need a bike or have to rent a golf cart to get around because this is a huge campground and there are no places to park your car other than at your site. There is no internet unless you rent a modem and hook it up yourself at the site. The prices are simply outrageous for food or beverages; .a hot dog, bag of chips and a pop are over $8.00: a sandwich by the pool with a pop for 2 people $20 + but the worst thing is the constant marketing everywhere you go. There are always lines in the theme parks so I guess I'm just getting too old for the mouse house... We camped here in a Motorhome.

Lots already written about this park. We went on a whim with some friends that are really in love with this CG. First surprise was no pull throughs, period. Second surprise was how tight the spots are. There's room for a 40' motorhome, in the spot, but you have to get in there and we had a heck of a time. The roads and sites were built in the early 70's when most folks were in much smaller rigs. Needless to say, it was really tight backing into our spot in the pitch dark. When leaving, we had to sit and wait 10 minutes while somebody in front of us tried to get parked. We empathized and sat patiently. We ate dinner at the restaurant which was tasty but Mickey is really proud of everything he sells, so not cheap. You can rent a golf cart ($$$) and zoom around like the other busy tourists, but there were nice wide walking paths everywhere. Clean, super nice park but for the money you'd expect it to be. I would only go back if staying for awhile to enjoy all the parks you can get to from here by boat/shuttle bus. We only did a one night get away, and the drama getting parked wasn't worth it. It's expensive, but it's also very, very nice. We had a problem on check-in - the site hadn't been cleaned yet, so they directed us to the waiting lot, where we waited an hour or so. Then, when we got to our assigned site, we found a motorhome working on pulling out, which would mean it hadn't been cleaned yet. We went back to the front, and my wife explained the situation, and they assigned us another site, actually a nicer one. A day or two later, we went back into the office to check on something else, and the concierge actually remembered my wife's name and where we were from! Also, we were taking one of Disney's back stage tours, and they picked us up at our campsite to take us to the Magic Kingdom for our tour at 7:15 in the morning - for free (although we tipped the driver). This is the kind of detail Disney puts into everything, including the campground. The boat service to the Magic Kingdom was GREAT, and the buses transportation was good, too - we only ever drove to (a) get gas in our truck and (b) see my parents; otherwise the truck sat at the site the entire time we were there. Definitely a great place to stay if you're on a Disney trip with camping. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is the campground at Walt Disney World. It is located fairly close to Epcot, and all parks and resorts are well-labeled on the Disney Roads grid (purple signs). Sites are asphalt with many tall trees. Each circle of sites has its own bath/shower/laundry building. The campground resort has a pool, beach area, evening camp activities, a large dog run, playground, two restaurants, and a camp store. We utilized the Disney bus transportation and also used our car with its free parking pass at the theme parks. Pet care for days or overnight is 1-2 miles away. The Disney website offers advance online check-in. This speeds up the process at the drive-in gate when arriving. Staff was helpful and courteous. The park is well-maintained in relation to upkeep and security. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It had been about 10 years since we were last in this campground and it hasn't changed much. Still a very clean, kept up campground and huge. Only negative from us was the amount of pets, dogs. It seemed there were more of them then children. A few days before we arrived, our "new" neighbors said a site with tents put up (1600 Section) were allowing a large dog to run loose. They called Security and was told, "do you want us to change your site?". That is not the answer I would want to hear, it would have been, I want you to refund my money and leave. While we were there another group of people took over the same site with a different large dog and let him also run loose, chasing the wild turkeys and scaring neighbors with small dogs. You would think Disney would have a little more control on that type of situation. Maybe make a couple of sections no pets. We won't go back for a long time. While we did not go into any of the parks while visiting, we did use the convenient buses/boats and monorails to sight see. Also, some of the sites in the 1800 section are very tight on backing in. We had a tough time but made it in and another camper came in at dark and could not get in without people moving vehicles across the street. I suggest arriving in the daylight. What's not to like? Not able to review without gushing. It's more than a campground, it's a resort, raises the standard, sets the bar higher for the industry. If the price bothers you it fluctuates seasonally, so shop, but again, it's not just a campground. We spent our first Christmas here, something everyone should do at least once in their RVing life. Our camping rate was rolled into our one week package to visit multiple Disney parks so it's difficult to break out. We arrived at a nearby park the day before because check-in at Fort Wilderness isn't until 1pm even though you can play in any of the Disney parks all morning before check-in. In order to do this, you must "pre-register" at Fort Wilderness when they open to get your passes/tickets. The new hostess at Fort Wilderness had no clue that we could do this even though we were told by Disney telephone staff. We had to notify Fort Wilderness security that the motorhome next to our site had a large barking dog inside and they had left the windows open. We found little or no security patrol in Fort Wilderness resulting in offensive noise during quite hours and as late as 1AM. Fort Wilderness is over-run with kids driving ClubCars/Golf Carts that pay no attention to one-way traffic through camping loops. They also clog traffic throughout the entire park. We expected a much better experience at this park, but due to the total lack of security we won't return here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very convenient CG for visiting WDW but they are cutting corners in service and maintenance and it shows. The CG is enormous and the cheapest sites must be 3/4 of a mile from the boat launch. We had a premium site price ranged from $80/night-$125/night plus $10-$15 in taxes per night. In addition, we paid another $5/night for our dog. Wi-Fi is extra: we did not use it since we have our own. Premium sites are wide and have some trees around them for privacy. There is one heavily used bathroom for each camping loop. Sites are level, electrical was low sometimes (114-118V) but water an sewer were good. Road in the CG loops are narrow: take it slow to avoid the cars, decorations, children, etc. There are dog-walking areas with trash cans. We enjoyed being close enough to the Magic Kingdom boat launch to walk there: but you have to watch out for all of the golf carts whizzing by. You can walk to the 'beach' area (no swimming) to watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night. There were two firework shows each night. Our dog was terrified by the noise so you may want to bring a sedative if your dog is scared of loud noises. Check-in and front desk employees seemed burned-out and not friendly. Loops could really benefit from a CG host to keep partying campers inline. There are security who ride their bikes on the outer roads but I never saw them in the CG area. The pool was great, though a little cool, with a nice slide. Pool is busy until 6pm when the children's activities end. Only one hot tub for over 800 campsites: pretty ridiculous! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I had a premium site. This is Disney. What else is there to say. For those who love Disney no matter what the review is, they will love it here. Disney has a cult-like following. Disney is a marketing machine. They’ve got it down to a science. I think this park is perfect. It is absolutely the best RV resort I’ve stayed at. The sites are spacious, clean and give you a great sense of being a part of the forest. Water quality is good and with Verizon 4G. The only reason I couldn’t give it a 10, is because it is just too darn expensive, but then you are paying for the Disney experience. I won’t even bother expounding on any other details and benefits of this resort. If you are coming to Disney, stay here. Forget about any other talk about other RV parks. In spite of the cost, I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice, large resort campground and RV park with the Disney flavor. Our price reflects a premium site rate including all taxes. We've found the comfort stations are back up to the level of repair that we're use to seeing in Disney resorts. Like the previous poster, we didn't see Wi-Fi but after a closer review of our paper work, Wi-Fi is suppose to be available at certain locations and at additional costs. We spent our 16 days here in the 1400 loop. Verizon 4G coverage available, but the data connection is somewhat unstable. We experienced at least 2 days where the data connection was down for three or more hours at a time. If nothing else, visit this time of year to see the RVers' personal Christmas decorations at their sites! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Great campground with tons to do and very easy (& free) connection to the Disney parks. Pool area and staff led activities were great for our kids, as were the movies under the stars. The Staff was awesome! The camp store is about as stocked with supplies as a 7-11, but had a lot of souvenirs. I'm giving the park a 9 because they claim to have Wi-Fi but they do not. I'm honestly shocked that Disney doesn't have Wi-Fi. AT&T 3G service was OK, depending on where we were in the park. The park is huge, so bring your bikes and a golf cart if you have one (or you can rent them for $60/day). We will definitely return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Well I have mixed reviews of this campground. Great time at this very clean, big campground. We were in the 200 loop. Close to the outpost and bus stop. Only a couple of negatives. The path to the outpost also has golf cart traffic, kind of a pain to constantly have to step off the trail to let the carts go by. The other issue is the music from the outdoor movie theatre. It's very loud even with the AC on and we were a ways away! They do have cable TV, but about 6 out of the 10 channels are Disney info related. Now we don`t need cable, but when you get back from a park at night it would be nice to watch something other than what I just came back from! Otherwise it's a very clean, friendly campground with lots to do if you don't do the parks. Make sure you bring everything you need as everything is expensive, and it is a ride to get to any major store. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were in site #1219 a non pet preferred loop. Our loop had a shared bath house with 1300 loop and larger concrete pads. It was so large that we could pull forward our RV and hook up our car behind us without leaving our site. We've stayed here many times and each time it has been good. Our loop was very spread out and quiet, occasionally you could heard activities at pool if wind was blowing right. Lots of activities for families in park. You can hop a boat to MK and then more boats, buses or monorails to get anywhere on property. Park has horseback riding, archery, swimming, hot tub, food, musical show, pony rides, etc. Lots to do. We stayed here for a week in the 1400 loop. It was very nice and close to the bath house on the outer loop. We had a great time and would love to stay here again. There is so many reviews regarding the camping that I hate to leave another one except to say there is almost no written rules. The majority of rules have to do with the cart rental. You are allowed to put anything on your site, screen porches, tents, decorations. It is really a great family place to camp. Loved it, but I'm a Disney girl! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

For me, this set the standard for a "10" and is what other campgrounds should aspire to. PRO's: Drive Up Check-In (never leave vehicle), Entertainment on Site (Character Dining, Movies on lawn, 24hr heated pool and water slide), bathrooms are nicer and cleaner than mine at home, showers are huge, transportation to Magic Kingdom by Ferry, meticulously kept sites (redressed after each camper leaves), Level sites, good shade areas, very friendly staff, well stocked camp stores. CON's: Park is so spread out, that where you are located be the difference between a long walk or renting a golf cart at $50.00 a day (try to influence what loop you get), Bus's within park could run on slightly quicker schedule but it's adequate, if on a meal plan - there is no decent quick-service on site you will need to bus over to the lodge. TIPs: The only difference between a preferred site and a premium site is that premium sites are slightly larger with newer equipment (tables, grills, etc). However the preferred sites are closer to food, ferry, and entertainment. Personally, I would aim for loops 100-400. Note that there is a cut through to the ferry on site 100. Avoid crowds at the kingdom, you can watch the evening fireworks from the beach at the campground. GPS will take you to lodge, not the campground - trust signs once in Disney, not the GPS. Give yourself at least one day at the campground to enjoy what is there, we were in the magic kingdom so much we didn't get to try things like the pool. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Outstanding park. Busy holiday weekend, but Disney did a good job with check in process was a breeze as we did online check-in and that cut down on us standing in a line at the entrance. We stayed in the 1700 loop and sites were plenty big. We also had tent campers with us and plenty of room for them as well. Things to do here were horse back riding $46 for a 45 minute trail ride. If your kids are under 80lbs then you can take them on the pony ride for $5. Short ride but my kids loved it. Wagon rides at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. $8 adults, $5 for kids, under 3 is free. Park had all kinds of activities around the pool and trading post. Archery lessons, fishing excursions, or use your own pole and fish in the water, bike rentals for canoe, kayak. Also had tennis rackets for free to use just had to leave your site card. Segway tours $ not sure how much. Campfire with Chip and Dale, after roasting marshmellows they have a sing a long and then a movie. Alot of activities were for a small fee, button making $2, tie tide shirts, kite making, all for under $5 per event. Golf cart rentals were $59 plus tax, but we rode our bikes around the whole park and got closer to things with bikes then you could with a golf cart. Lot of people use golf carts but there was no reason to if you can ride a bike, but everyone is friendly to bikes and golf cart people. Light show by the marina and fireworks were awesome. Best part of this campground is that you do not feel like you are at Disney what so ever like you would if you stayed at a resort. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Difficult to find your way to the campground at night/signs need updating. Challenging to back in your site at night with a big rig. Beautiful park, clean, pretty, trees, nice parking pad. Picnic table very heavy to move. Lots to do but very expensive to do it (golf cart $65/day). Restrooms spotless and modern. Air conditioned buses take you everywhere free. Very friendly helpful staff. Internet was difficult and expensive (10$/day). Pool area with water slide wonderful and crowded. Nice park especially if you're going to the Disney parks. Great sites. Great transportation. Great amenities. The showers were first class. Staff was very helpful. This was our second visit here. No crowds this time. Only two negatives. (1) I still can't believe a place as high tech as Disney doesn't have decent free Wi-Fi. Since we have our own Mi-Fi it wasn't that big of an inconvenience. (2) Disney is not enforcing their policy of not allowing campers to tie their dogs outside. We had a neighbor of early risers with a little yapping dog they would tie out in the morning. The dog thought he was a rooster. They would put him inside during the daylight hours while they were away at the theme parks. They would return to their site late in the evening, tie their dog outside and their dog thought he was a coyote. We saw and heard other dogs doing the same buy only the one next to us was a persistent problem. We camp with two dogs that we do not tie out, and we do not allow to bark. We will be back again. Hope Disney corrects the problem. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The transportation system is nothing short of amazing. We always spend a little more and book the premium sites, and it is worth it. It's like you have your own wooded lot. This is obviously a great campground and the positives vastly outweigh the negatives. So much in fact, it would take forever to list them. As such, I'm only going to list the very few things that weren't as good. It doesn't mean I didn't think it wasn't a good park. It seems that the preferred loops and some of the access roads/points were a bit tight. I thought the internal bus system was OK, but the buses to the Disney parks didn't come often enough. The boat to Magic Kingdom was very efficient though. Everything is a little overpriced; it's Disney so that should go without saying. If you live close enough to come here often, you should consider buying a golf cart. It's big enough to necessitate one and the rentals are absurdly priced at $63 a day. This campground has it all - friendly staff, plenty of activities for the kiddos, great transportation around the enormous campground plus ferry / buses to the all the Disney attractions. It poured our first day and no water pooled at our site - they have done a good job with drainage. Reason for an "8" instead of a "10" - the sites are super tight for maneuvering longer trailers. We have a 35' and for a short time we literally thought we would not be able to get the trailer in the spot. The location was long enough, but with the narrow road combined with the recycling stations and posts, there was very little room to back up without hitting something. We stayed in loop 300. If I were to reserve here again (which we most certainly will) I will ask if some of the others loops have a bit more space. It seemed that loop 400 might have been better for our trailer. Also the food in the dinner buffet was mediocre and the service was slow (come on - all you have to do in clear the plates) and it was $$$ with a 18% gratituity added on top. Otherwise a top notch campground, we loved our time here. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

We loved our stay at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground. We had a premium site and were very close to the pool and store. It was an easy bus or boat ride to all of the parks. Our family really enjoyed the nightly Sing Along with Chip and Dale, campfire and outdoor movies. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is without a doubt a wonderful place! However with Disney, it's all about money. and I would think that when you spend $92.00 dollars a night you would at least get WI-Fi at your site like every other RV park in this century. They only have Wi-Fi at three locations In the Park! And then you have to pay $ 9.95 For 24 hours. This is a Big minus in my opinion! And I think they need to get with the program. We spent 10 nights here and really enjoyed it. The comfort station/showers/and laundry were all super clean. The staff are helpful and kind. There are tons of things to do and the pool is great. The site are huge and really clean. The hookups are great too. Lots of folks with little dogs and lots of kids on bikes and with golf carts. The bus/boat system is great and we would really recommend this to anyone with an RV who enjoys Disney. Great value and wonderful resort/campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A measuring stick for the best (and happiest) family camping in the USA. Aside from the benefits of camping on the Disney world property, which are many, the campground itself has excellent, reasonably secluded, flat, clean site. Miles of great walk/bike trails, pet friendly, and a super pool with water slide (Meadow), and three country stores. We were in the 400 loop which is walking distance to the Settlement with a great country buffet restaurant (Trails End), and boat shuttles to Magic Kingdom, wilderness Lodge and Contemporary. My only beef is that Disney not only does not have campground Wi-Fi, but also wants to charge you $10/day to use Wi-Fi at hotspots at the Settlement area, which is silly and cheap in today's world. Staying at Fort Disney is expensive, but staying on Disney property does has it advantages such as: busing system park to park was convenient, taking advantage of the 'Magic Hours' made for shorter lines, but you can also get this with all of Disney resorts for a cheaper nights stay. Very clean campground, showers and restrooms. Laundry machines dated but work. My biggest complaint is the staff at front desk are not friendly. The staff you see on the grounds are very nice and helpful. We stayed 12 days and 13 nights. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is pristine! While the roads and paths are completely paved and perfectly level, you still have the impression that you are in the middle of the forest. (Waiting for Bambi and Thumper to step out from behind a tree). There is nothing out of place. It appeared that event the pine cones had been individually placed on the campsites and not on the roads. While the rates are higher than your average campground, you have the added benefit of the extremely easy transport to and from the parks via easily accessible bus stops and/or the ferry. Also, you get the benefit of entering the parks an hour earlier than the general public, as a Disney facility guest. If it were possible to give it a rating of more than 10, we would. There is no other place like this. There should be a special category for beyond a rating of 10. It is lovely. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We have camped here 2 times, and it is by far one one of the best campgrounds! Of course: it is Disney so it is expected to be a bit more expensive than a state park or private owned. With that being said, I have found some beach side campgrounds at the same price with 1/2 of the amenities. We have stayed in loops 800 & 900. Both are great! The sites are private and shaded. The bathrooms are extremely cleaned and there are numerous washers & dryers at each station (each loop has their own station). The Disney buses take you everywhere so you never have to worry about transportation. There can be a 20 minute wait; however, if you have ever driven in Orlando you will know that you can't get anywhere from Disney without a 20-30 minute ride. Our kids loved the bus transportation. I would highly recommend a golf cart: especially with kids due to the walking and size of the park. You can watch the nightly fireworks from the Magic Kingdom from the beach at the campground which is awesome! You can stay as busy as you would like or just site back and relax. The pool area is wonderful with activities throughout the day. Nightly campfire show and movie. For extra $ you can learn archery, horseback riding, etc. We go the first few weeks of May and it is desolate during the week. Magical experience! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

$76/night for their best "Premium" sites. Large, spacious, and we saw maintenance people almost all the time: from security to sweepers to insect control. Our car never moved for 6 days. Took the buses and monorails everywhere. Their cable TV was a curious mix: networks, cable stations, at least 5 Disney channels (OK, their system), Spanish, Japanese, Chinese and English with subtitles. Guess they want to include everybody. Campground is showing it's age. Laundry was not as clean as has been in years before. Electric slowed down in afternoon when a/c units were all in use, electric monitor went into red area. There is NOT Wi-Fi available at each site. You must register with the office and take a "kit" that contains a modem back to your site that needs to be hooked into the cable connection. If you want Wi-Fi you have to go to the Meadow Trading Post. Modem and Wi-fi cost an additional $9.95 per day and you have to put down a $125.00 deposit for the modem kit. They also do not offer any discounts, read on the Good Sam website that they allow that discount, did not honor our discount upon check-in. Told us had to register that when making reservation which are not rules of Good Sam. Also no where on Ft. Wilderness reservation site to list Good Sam discount. As usual it was great. If they could get their on line check in going better that would be cool. The thing they have everyone by a mile is the transportation system. Go anywhere, almost any time and its all free. We made a cool half day out of just taking the grand kids to Disney world entrance by boat, then touring other resorts by monorail. Ok I know I'll probably get hatemail from Disney lovers but I did not enjoy my time at this campground. The sites (premium even!) were very tight and close together. We questioned whether we were in a premium site after we saw it. There was little greenery between us and our neighbor. The activities were accessible only with a tram at a long-waiting stop, bike, a very long walk, or your own car. We ended up driving to all of the parks. We've stayed at some of the resorts in years past and thought we'd save money by taking our RV. Now in addition to being a huge Disney lover, I am also a huge RV fan. However, I don't think I'd take a vacation in our RV at Disney again. The sites were clean, just super crowded and far away from everything, not easy to get around to the activities/events/parks. We paid for a "premium" site but I seriously doubt it was premium. We even left a day early: and YES I do love Disney. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our second stay at Fort Wilderness; we stayed here 4-5 years ago and wanted to go back to the parks. We were so disappointed this time. Mostly due to the noise. There was incessant dog barking for our entire 10 days. We were in a pet loop because we have a dog. It is extremely unfair to those of us who have quiet, well behaved dogs, to have to put up with that day and night. A lot of people had 2-3 (mostly small rat dogs) and they do absolutely nothing about it. They are either oblivious to it, or simply don't care about their neighbors. I fault the park for this. My sister and brother were here a month before us; they were stuck into a pet loop for 10 days and they don't even have a dog. They were beside themselves with that. The other thing is the extreme noises from campers themselves, specifically the kids. The parents let their kids terrorize the streets. We had no peace except when we went to the parks, which is a whole different rip-off story. We will not be back and will not recommend this park. We wasted $2,000 and 10 days to listen to barking dogs and out of control children. Wow. What a vacation. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our first visit to this park and we were shocked at what we (didn't) get for the extraordinary price we paid for our stay. Basic hookups in a too tight space. Cable? Extra $$$s! Wi-Fi? Extra $$$s! Kids were totally out of control and no enforcement of basic camping etiquette. A Wal-Mart boondocking is more peaceful. It was convenient to the park, but little else positive to say about it. How can you beat the happiest place on earth? Fort Wilderness is awesome. Our kids have loved it since they were small. Now in their late teens they still love coming here WITH us! Very pretty campground and plenty to do for families. We paid for a premium site but did not feel we received a premium site. Although it was long it was narrow, picnic table was in the back of the RV. Right next to the bathroom so we had a lot of traffic. However we were located very near the sidewalk to pick up shuttle buses or walk down to the Trails End restaurant. We didn't have any difficulty getting into and out of our campsite but did hear some bangs from larger MH's leaving. A unit must be rented out to receive cable and Internet, although you get the money back when you turn in the box the system is a pain to deal with setting up and we had wires running everywhere. This campground is nice to see the parks but Disney will nickel and dime you. We won't be back unless grandchild comes along. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The few disappointment I had was the size of the lots, tightness of the access roads and the closeness to the neighbors lot which made it a little challenging to back up a 35'+ travel trailer. The good: The site was beautifully landscaped, level, clean, and huge! Restroom and showers were always clean and convenient and the keyed access at night was appreciated too. Security was excellent. Convenience stores, heated pool, jacuzzi and campground transportation and entertainment programs were all first rate. The bad: The drive-thru check in is supposed to be a positive but it'd be less stressful to park and walk in. Narrow one-way streets meant you have to wait if someone is trying to back into their site and backing in can take awhile because, as I already said, the roads were narrow. Once on the site we were golden, though. And the ugly: Lack of Wi-Fi is inexcusable especially since Disney uses the internet for many park programs like their photo pass system. And finally - we were really glad we bought bicycles to get around because the campsite is huge and they have nice bike paths. But if you bring bikes don't forget lights for riding home at night! Before visiting this campground, I did not expect I would give it a 10, because we love Class A only resorts. But Fort Wilderness impressed us all the way. Disney is master of organization and cleanliness and landscaping. We had a premium site which had a concrete pad, 50 amps, and full hookups. Everything good said about this resort below is true. Now the negatives: Disney has one of the worst online reservation systems. Their system does not give dates that are available, you have to keep guessing available dates until one is available. They should have a live online calendar like Cedar Point or the National Parks online reservation systems. The toll booths into the Magic Kingdom (first entry into Fort Wilderness) are too narrow, the divider curb scrapes up against the tires, barely enough room for mirrors. Divider curbs are unnecessary and should be removed. No Wi-Fi at the campsites. Have to rent line modem for $10 per night and place $100+ deposit for modem. Charging $5 pet fee per night is silly when people can have 10 people per site for free. That said Disney still deserves a 10! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Can't beat the Florida resident price for the premium site. This is our second time here, and the only negative is check in is so slow. We sat in line for 45 minutes before they opened more lanes. Everything else was perfect. If you have never done this park, do yourself a favor and go. We camped here over the Christmas/New Years holidays. The true camping site fee over the holiday period was $121 per night for a premium site. All of the previous posters comments were accurate. I will reiterate the narrow roads in the campground loops. Loops are one way and if someone is pulling into a site and not doing a good job of it you may be stuck for a while. Also beware of the golf carts racing around the loops. There are rules that state that all cart drivers must be old enough to drive a car, but we saw many 13-14 year old racing around so beware. After the holiday season the rates dropped by about half. I loved this park, but like most things nothing is perfect. I will stay here again, but probably in the off season. We go to Fort Wilderness three or four times a year for a long weekend, it is pricey so we usually get a “Full Hookup” site. We went for Christmas this year and had a “Premium” site in the 800 loop. The concrete pads are a lot larger, so maneuvering in and out of the site is a lot easier. This was our first visit after purchasing a motor home, and as others have said it was very tight in the check in line, my mirrors probably came within four inches of the mirrors on the motor home next to me. The campground is always kept clean, sites are blown off and hosed off between every visitor and they periodically scrub the sites down with a buffing machine and power washer. Loops are designated for pets/non-pets, pet loops have two or three litter bag stations. There is a $5.00/night extra charge for pets, this covers any number of pets for the price. We always enjoy all of the decorations put out at Halloween and Christmas by the campers, a great time to visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Also, if you are not in the mood to cook, Fort Wilderness has one of the only restaurants - (buffet) that you do not have to make a reservation and also has a cocktail lounge. A truly great experience here but only one caution: Make sure you have someone watch your every move entering and leaving your site. Our site was very, very tight and when leaving, my wife had to take out our truck for hooking up. I tried to thread the eye of the needle leaving our site and ended up hooking the back corner of our motorhome on the 4x4 site number post. Beware of these site number posts as they will really cause a lot of damage. In our case: $10,000 - $13,000. Not the campground's fault but still worth mentioning. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We loved this park. We did not need their WiFi nor their restrooms so this area, where people lowered the rating, were not a problem for us. We loved the trails to ride your bike or walk and the huge trees that were well trimmed. We saw deer several times. It was pricey, but then everything in Disney is expensive. Had site 722, a "premium site" which included cable and a better bathroom facility. One of the reasons to lower the rating is the bathroom. It serves 2-4 loops, had 3 showers and 2 toilet stalls. Not very good for a minimum of 80 sites. The other reason for the downgrade is the Wifely and that is for two reasons. One: it was extremely slow (6-50kps) and two: 1980's technology. Instead of a wireless connection, you have to rent a modem, wire it to the cable hookup via a splitter and then use either an ethernet or USB connection to the modem. For all the technology Disney has, this is pathetic. Beyond that, our site was outstanding. Level, wide, wooded with a lot of privacy. And luckily, just a short walk to the ferry terminal to the Magic Kingdom, whoopee doo review an all the restaurants in Ft. Wilderness. Compared to on site hotels and outside CG's this is a bargain. We would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camped in site #1645 which is a full hook-up loop. The site has water/electric/sewer and an electric outlet on the signpost for plugging in a golf cart. Our site had a concrete pad to park on and a coquina sand pad behind the RV. Site comes with a long picnic table vs. the square ones in the upgraded loops. There is also a BBQ grill but no fire ring since Ft Wilderness has a campfire program every night. Our site was located on the end of a loop so it was very convenient to the comfort station and to the bus stop at the front of the group of loops 1600-1900. Site was shady and had a nice buffer between campers. We were there for Halloween again and FW has lots of activities for that time frame for the campers to participate in. Disney transportation was slow, but guests get free parking at the Disney parks anyway. My only major complaint is the lack of Wi-Fi available at the site. our site was a large, private back-in not far from the Settlement. Site utilities were great. The Cable System is owned by Disney and services all their resorts, so it was largely based on Disney and park information channels. The pool and waterslide were great. The theme parks also didn't seem too crowded for our stay in mid August. We were also surprised that there were no bugs! We would highly recommend this campground and certainly want to return. Very nice place with clean facilities. Lots of activities just for guests. The cost is high, but when considered with the $15 parking per day at each park, and the included transportation throughout the Disney World area, it was worth it! About 30 minutes to get to any part of Disney World. The 4 extra magic hours you get each day for the parks also was a good compensation for the costs. The WiFi was annoying, as they gave you a cable modem with one Ethernet connection at $10 per day, but I was able to setup my laptop as an access point and get all the rest of our devices connected. I have long known that the only real magic at Disney was how easily your money leaves your wallet The campground is nice, but when you figure you are paying 80.00 a night for in the end is just another campground with a pool, but then have to pay BIG BUCKS for everything else, then you kind of feel like maybe 80.00 is a little too much. Wi-Fi costs money; they have golf carts for rent at around 70.00 a day (but if you check in at 5pm your rent on the golf cart expires at 11:00 am the next morning.) It's an expensive grab your wallet. Locals camp here and gather around your RV spot and gawk at you. Amazing, ridiculous bizarre Florida ritual. We ignore it, but some other campers take issue with the gawkers. Spaces were designed back in the 1970's so most are a little tricky maneuvering into for larger rigs. Mention you have a big rig when booking and perhaps want an easier maneuvering spot. Kind of a shaded National Park setting. Gone is the cool steam train you could ride to the Magic Kingdom, but the "free" boat from the campground dock that travels across Lake Buena Vista to the Disney world entrance remains. Perhaps you really should consider using it. There are some what convenient bus stops close to most campsites, but few "free" buses: they are crowded and very, very, very slow. The showers and laundries near each "cover leaf entrance" are super clean and in modern condition. Most employees are nice but we encountered a few with nasty New York surly attitudes. Forget renting a golf cart as they are expensive with goofy terms and rules. Most people bring their own. "It's cheaper to buy one then rent one here," one camper told us. He wasn't kidding. Campground is really nice and there is lots and lots to do. You may even consider being like the locals where the RV park is the destination and skip Disney World altogether. This is the first place that we've ever been that the campground was not part of the destination. We spent NO time at the camper and all the time in the Disney parks. That being said, this campground had more than enough to do on it as well. Several parks and a large swimming pool with a waterslide was enough. It also has it's own marina with boat rental. The breaker for the power was broken when we arrived. I called the office and within 5 minutes the serviceman was there and replaced it. Top notch stay. Will do again. Not the Fort Wildreness of the past. Still a great place, but the attention to detail is slipping. Site needed mowed the day we arrived for our week stay, but did not get mowed until the day before we left. Change machine in laundry was empty for 4 days. Seems some of the magic is gone. We've been camping here since 1978. It hasn't changed much. Other than the price. They have expand the paved areas of the sites and eliminated much of the pea gravel. Needless to say the grounds and all of the Disney touches are nice. You don't get much more for the extra cost of a premium site, not many cable stations. It has become more difficult to request a specific loop. With tax a night's stay in a premium space is about $100; more during some peak holidays. All of our recent stays had empty spots. In the past it was always full. We camped here in a Motorhome.

What can you say? It IS Disney, after all. This is a beautiful park. We stayed in the 1300 Loop in site 1306. It was beautifully wooded with the canal wrapping around. The campsites are spacious, all concrete, and with trees (shrubs) in between, private. Electric carts are available to rent, but being close to bus stops and the pool, we had no need for one. We were here for almost a week and really enjoyed the park itself. There's fishing allowed in the canals, the swimming pool (1 of 2) has a play area for toddlers as well as a water slide and there are plenty of walking/biking trails. The negatives to the park are pricing of necessities at trading post (I ran out of coffee and instead of running into town, paid $6.75 for Folgers!) and compared to the other resorts, the restaurant availability (hours open and food selection) was not to our liking. Having said that, we will definitely stay here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Fort Wilderness scores our first "10". This is just a fantastic park on so many levels. Beautifully landscaped, nice level concrete sites with picnic tables. There is plenty to do inside the campground to experience Disney without even visiting one of the theme parks. One deciding factor for us to stay here is the campgrounds pet-friendly policy, which allowed us to visit the parks while our two small dogs snoozed in the motorhome. You can visit any of the parks in the morning, come back to the motorhome for an hour or two and let them out, then go back for the afternoon quite easily. A previous review complained about the fireworks upsetting her dog. To that, I would say that first, we could barely even hear the fireworks at our campsite, and second, Disney always has, and hopefully always will offer a free fireworks show at the end of each day. There where plenty of places to walk our dogs near our campsite, however it was a fairly long walk if you want to take them to the official off-leash dog park. It would have been nice if there was a parking area next to the dog park for those of us camping farther away. My only gripe is that Wi-Fi is not provided free. It is becoming a basic thing at many parks, and I would think Disney would follow suit, but alas, not. We stayed in the full hook-up area, which was the least expensive. Upgrading to another area for a bit more just gets you closer to some of the campground amenities, but with bicycles it's easy to access anything you need. If you have bikes, bring them! You will get a lot of use out of them. We will definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We've rated Fort Wilderness several times before, and it remains one of the premier campsites in our land. We stayed nine days and the rate quoted includes the applicable taxes and fees. The good features include location, cleanliness, transportation, and ambiance. The (minor) complaints include an insufficient number of toilets and shower stalls in the bathhouses (given the fact that everyone in the park is on basically the same schedule) and the lack of free Wi-Fi. An additional irritant during this stay were the iron man events on successive weekends. Disney uses the campground to host these events and it causes paying customers to deal with annoying limitations. Be aware that Disney never reacts to these types of complaints. Therefore, if you want the mouse, you've just got to live with these (admittedly minor) inconveniences. We will continue to return again every year. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We've stayed at Fort Wilderness many times and have always enjoyed ourselves. Campground was clean and well maintained as always and there's plenty to do. Only thing we didn't like on this trip was the site they assigned us. Our Motorhome is 32 feet not that big by today's standards but they put us in one of the tightest sights. It was so tight in fact that the camper that left the sight that morning knocked down the sign post and part of a tree. However just three sights down was a very easy to access sight that was empty when we arrived and they put a class B on it. Site assignment made no sense. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Great Campground, we had a premium site and it was very clean and had plenty of shade. We rented a Golf Cart to help get around the Park because it is very big. The rental fee for the Cart was $65 a day. Bus service is available but there are some long wait times. The rest rooms and shower were very clean.Cable TV was very good and we did not use Wi-Fi. We stayed in the 500 loop and it was close to the bus stops and to the boat launch. For the price of the site you don't get much but I guess that is just Disney. The sites are all paved with power, water and sewer. Very tight for a big rig as our site was on a curve. Other loops seemed to have sites that were easier to access. This is our second stay at this park. We were in loop 900 this time and really enjoyed it. It's close to the swimming pool and store. Lots of kids and families staying at the resort due to spring break but it wasn't a problem. The only real issue we had this time was the lack of bus transportation inside the campground. Several times we waited well over 30 minutes for a bus. We highly recommend this campground as a base camp for the Disney Parks, or you could just skip the parks altogether and enjoy the campground. Wow, what can I say about Fort Wilderness? We have stayed here 5 years in a row on spring break and it is always always wonderful. The sites are big and shady and although the park is huge, it is quiet and peaceful everywhere. Disney overlooks nothing in the park; the showers and restrooms are so clean you could eat in there, and so is the laundry room. The pool has been remodeled this year and is terrific, more in line with a fancy RV resort like Ft Wilderness. We have returned year after year and will return again to the best RV park we have ever been to. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We took three of our grandchildren and our youngest daughter here for obvious reasons: kids love WDW. So for this reason alone it doesn't get much better than this. Access/processing took at least 20 minutes with all of the material on the park that is presented to you and Q/A period that the staff/members provide for you. But it is Disney and one needs to be informed. All this being said it is a nicely planned park with paved level sites and well placed hook-ups. No problem for our large D/Pusher navigating the park. The amenities are unparalled and the staff is not only great but very helpful. Impressed that they are always so pleasant and never seem put off by anything asked of them. The piped in music was a very pleasant touch at night for us, as were the multi-color changing Mickey street lamps. They urge use of rental or privately owned golf carts for getting around the campground but it is not strictly enforced. The carts rent for $50 plus dollars a day! The only problem we had in the campground was with a dryer that ate quarters but didn't want to dry. Staff was notified and attended to us and the problem right away. Surprised? Never at Disney!! We look forward to returning to this magnificent destination. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Ft. Wilderness is a dream come true, so beautiful and so much to do!! Our family has spent many vacations staying in the cabins wishing and praying we had a motorhome so this trip really was a dream come true for us!! We stayed here for 7 nights and only bothered to spend two afternoons in one of the theme parks the entire time we were here with our 6 year old. If you visit, we highly recommend bringing or renting a golf cart, the camp grounds are huge and riding around is great fun! We had more than 5 inches of rain in a 12 hour period of time. Thought for sure when the constant rain stopped we would see some major flooding, but we only saw one of the many playgrounds in standing water, everything else seemed high and dry! The hookups were easy to use, the site seemed large enough and wasn't too much trouble to back in. Tons of Disney channels to choose from using their cable! Just perfect!! One of the best perks of staying at Ft. Wilderness is being able to head down to the Marina/Beach and have a perfect view of Magic Kingdom's nightly fireworks, they even pipe in the music!! We've already planned 3 more trips to Ft. Wilderness before 2010 is done, can't wait!! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our site was not clean when we arrived, dog droppings were everywhere. If you need to use the kennel you have to break the rules and walk the dog through an area that is signed "No Pets". Our first time back to FW since the 80's. Still sets the standard! Sites a little narrow, but plenty of room between them. We were in a full hook-up, pet loop. CG was very full, but quiet. Comfort stations squeaky clean, but very busy in the AM. Staff always cleaning. Laundry facilities fine. The dog park is a great addition, gave us a chance to let the furkids off leash and run for awhile before going to the kennel for the day. I love it that Disney allows the dogs in now, otherwise we wouldn't be able to stay here. We've already booked for next February, fingers crossed the weather is warmer! Countless activities for all ages, from horseback riding, nightly campfire with Disney movies on "drive in" size outdoor screen, carriage rides, hayrides, beach, great bass fishing, tennis courts, archery, waterslide. We decided to escape the cold VA weather and two hours later were on the road to Disney. Fort Wilderness is an amazing campground! There's so much to do without even going into the parks. Bath houses were very clean along with the entire campground. Only reason for giving the park a 9 was because of the internet. It's $10 per day and you have to go to certain Wi-Fi locations to get service. Seems VERY steep to me. Also had to add $5 per day because we had a pet. Nightly rate does not include those add-ons. We brought our bikes, so there was no need for the golf cart. Stayed in the 1000 loop which was very convenient to the nightly campfire and big pool, but the spaces were very close together, compared to how spacious others were. All-in-all, had an amazing time and can't wait to go back! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful campground. Very nice set up. Lots for kids and adults to do right in the campground. There is transportation to/from the parks. Disappointed in their Wi-Fi, there wasn't any. I booked and paid for a premium site Dec 26 - 31 2009 and when I got there they put us in a tent site. I called the front office and they said sorry that's all we have available. Disconnected my trailer and drove to the office and we got another site that had electric, water, and sewer. We were not offered any refund. We had to call guest services due to neighbors breaking quite hours in which at 2 am they finally went to bed. I will never take my family to this campground again. For the amount of money spent I felt like I could never relax in order to get my monies worth. We stayed up the road for $19 a night and had a more enjoyable time. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

This was our first time camping here, we were a little concerned that the price was nearly double of what we normally like to pay for camping but you definitely get what you pay for. The sites were large, clean and quite private. If you have bikes, bring them or you can rent a golf cart for $59/day to get around the resort. I liked the Disney transportation that covered the entire resort, it was easy to get from one park to another and all ran as scheduled. (didn't notice any long delays as mentioned in another post) I liked that Disney has recycling stations everywhere that include plastic bottles, glass and newspaper, I haven't seen this at any other campground. One drawback, there is only one dog park and that happened to be nearly a quarter mile away from our site but they did have bag stations and garbage cans everywhere so en-route you can clean up. For another great Disney experience we would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The in campground transportation system has suffered big time because of lay offs. This was our first time camping here as a family. I camped here as a kid and it is still as wonderful as I remember. They need to upgrade to wireless internet. That was a pain getting it connected, but once completed, it worked fine. This was bike heaven and everything flat--Perfect for small children. We were in the 150 loop close to the water and could hear the ferry horn. This might hinder some, but we liked being close to the ferry. We also could hear the nightly water parade loudly. We have small kids and they were asleep by 8:30, so this was an issue being so close to the water. This is just a heads up for families with small ones. Everything was Disney perfect…100% all the way. You will love this campground! We can’t wait to go back. There is so much to do we spent most of our time in the parks and felt like we didn’t get to enjoy the campground as much as we would have liked. We were in site #1302. Paid for a FHU but were upgraded to the new premium sites. We have stayed on 1300 before and asked for it in case this happened. We like being in the middle of the campground and felt the FHU sites were in "no man's land." When I looped around most of those sites were not decorated either. We were in a great loop, lots of decorations for Halloween. We had a great view of the golf cart parade, close to the pool with the new slide and hot tub. Lots of activities to go to and be a part of. Lots of trick or treaters came by our RV on Halloween night. Good movies; everything was family friendly and so were the campers. Only saw one underage kid driving golf cart and he was under the careful guidance of his mom (she was not letting him go crazy). This is what Halloween was meant to be. This campground is close to perfect. Great place to vacation, even if you don't go to Walt Disney World. However, the pursuit of perfection requires me to nit pick a few things. The Verizon Broadband signal was, for all intents and purposes, nonexistent. You will not be paying bills electronically from this place. (Well, you can get Mr. Disney Wi-Fi package for a large price if you really have to pay a bill). The cable channel selection was very limited, except for an amazing number of Disney channels. Also, bring your own food, restaurant and bar prices are very high. Finally, life is better if you rent a golf cart. The buses are there, but you will spend a lot of time waiting. Lastly, this place is full of reality nice people who are there to make your stay perfect. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at this park several times over the past 2 years. It is by far one of the most beautiful camping facilities in the area, but the price you pay certainly reflects that. Pony rides, water slides, boat rentals, and of course all of the Disney attractions. Our favorite part is watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach at the campground marina. The Disney parks are all easily accessible through buses, boats, etc., but there is plenty enough to do at the campground. This is a very nice campground. My 4-year-old would have rather stayed at the pool than go to the parks. There's a great water taxi that drops you off at the Magic Kingdom. This park was extremely clean and organized. Our site was very large with a little bit of shade on it. The only reason I give it an 8 would be the $9.95 charge for 24 hours of Wi-Fi, and the water being located at the front of the site, with the cable TV and power at the rear. The best park we have stayed at! We had a problem with the first site they gave us, 1900 loop. There was a foul smell coming from the standing water in the cypress retaining pond next to our site. We asked to be moved and they did without asking any further questions. The site was large and easy to back into. Some of the sites look like they would be very hard to back into. Our only complaint was the lack of "enforcement" on the quiet hour. Disney Security was visible and patrolling but did little to keep the younger kids from driving the golf carts late at night. They would drive all night long and beep their horns. Then there was the loud parties going on all night. Made for a very restless few nights. If you're looking for nice and convenient to Disney, this is your place! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Our stay at the campground was great with the exception that the kiddie pool was not working the whole time. Also, after 10:00 pm when lifeguards go off duty, guests at the pool get a little carried away. Campground was very clean and all staff was professional and polite. It is a great campground, but not really worth the $140/night. It is very hard to back into some of the sites. The Electric and cable hookup is at the very rear of site, and water is at the front. About half the campground was empty, but the amusement parks were still packed. There is a great pool with water slide and kids waterworks area. Cable internet is available for $9.95 per night, cable modems in registration office -- very high speed! I'm sure we will be back!! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a great park hands down. When I read that this is the best park in the US they were not kidding. We had a great time and hated to leave. Our rig is 62 ft and camped in the 900 loop. We arrived at 12 midnight from Texas a day early because we were all excited about getting there, they got us right in and did not have to move. It can be a little tight but take it slow and have a spotter and you should do fine. Great location for the kids you can watch fireworks from the beach or get a beer from 2 bars in the resort. We will be back next summer no doubt. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This was our second time camping here, and it is fast becoming our favorite campground. We stayed in the 300 loop for 2 weeks. Spaces are close together, but we don't spend much time at the site when we're at Disney - mostly just sleep there. We rent a golf cart because it's too far to walk and adds to our Disney experience. Bathrooms were immaculate and bus service to the parks/other resorts was excellent. There was a lot of standing water between sites due to the heavy rains before we arrived. I've never seen so many skeeters in my life, but again that really isn't Disney's fault. My only suggestion might have been some evening mosquito spraying throughout the park. We did have one issue with the pool which has been upgraded with a new slide and it is great! We noticed a large group of 10 people camping out by the pool dressed in street clothes. Something was just "off" about them. They changed in the restroom to their suits - although some swam in their clothes and used the pool all afternoon. When they were done they showered at the pool rinse off shower by the hot tub - and by shower I mean used soap and shampoo. It was ridiculous and several people went to the lifeguards. Their response was laughing and saying, "We can't do anything about it". It was just so blatantly apparent that these visitors were not guests of the Fort. Next time I would contact Security myself and not deal with the lifeguards. We will stay here again because we love Disney and this campground. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Disney lives up to its reputation. The park is very large but very quiet at the same time. It is beautifully landscaped and clean. Since the park is so large it can be difficult to get around. If possible, recommend a site near a bus stop or bring a tow car. You can not drive to the marina and shops in the campground but you can drive yourself to the theme parks and not have to rely on Disney buses. A parking pass is included in the cost of camping here so it doesn't cost you anything to drive yourself to the parks. I highly recommend the Hoop-De-Doo Review at the campground. Great food and fun entertainment makes it worthwhile. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our first time at this campground and it was amazing! The bathrooms were immaculate, the grounds were kept clean, and the staff was more than accommodating. We stayed in a "pet loop" which was across from the pet park. We had access to plenty of pet bags, garbage pails and even recycle bins! There's plenty to do without going to the parks: large picnic tables and grills at every site, activities for the kids throughout the day, campfire and movies at night, and a beautiful view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from their "beach". Make sure you bring your bicycles or motorized vehicles with you, as you can only park at the front of the campground or at your site. They do rent bicycles and golf carts, but it can get expensive. We are definitely going back, sooner rather than later! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We were in a premium site with a little more patio, but little space to park our tow. There were too many golf carts zooming about, some with young drivers. There was no dog walk area close to our loop, so pet owners were forced to bring thir dogs next to the sidewalk near our coach for their business. Low rating due to the fact that we're not Disney people (we were there to see friends), plus exhorbitant cost for what you get: cheek-to-jowl parking, way too many people per site, lots of noise, swarms of mosquitoes (and a prohibition against "burning devices" so no Citronella candles for us), very tame squirrels which tormented our dog so that we had to keep him inside, and rules, rules, rules. The sites were level and we did enjoy the very convenient and extensive recycling and the very clean restrooms. Just can't justify the $100 per night. Can't. And then they charge $ for the ice, even though they make all these claims that campsites are just like resort rooms at the hotels, where, I think, the ice is free. I'm sure if you have children and are there to see the theme parks, you'll love it. But as a camping experience, ick. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Although expensive, Disney does everything first class. The campground was beautiful. The comfort stations were the best I've ever seen: ceramic tile floors and showers, solid surface countertops. They were always clean. Employees were helpful and friendly. The resort is huge, so buses are available to get around, or you can rent a golf cart (for about the cost of renting a car for the week). We stayed on the 100 loop, which was very convenient to the boat launch to the Magic Kingdom and one of the camp stores. There was a lot noise from the nightly dinner show that you would not get if you were farther away from the venue. The sewer hookups are strange, and don't fit a standard sewer hose. They look like small stainless steel sinks. I would recommend this campground. We had a great time! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is our favorite campground. We try to do Fort Wilderness a couple times a year. Sites are paved and level, but some are difficult for some larger rigs to back in. The water connections at the front of the site are very poorly planned and I saw a long rig take one out as it was trying to maneuver out. Take an extra water hose, we needed about 30 feet total to connect. The grounds are very superbly maintained, just as you would expect from Disney. The people are polite, and the services are plenty. This is the best RV park I have ever visited. Most people stay here because of it being on the Disney property. They have transportation to and from the parks, but keep in mind that Fort Wilderness has a lot to offer, so plan an extra day or so just to enjoy the campground: it's worth it. Highly recommend this campground, but make your reservations in advance as you will find there are plenty of others that call Fort Wilderness their favorite as well. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground makes it difficult to give anyone else a 10. The marble bathhouse has a full-time attendant to make sure it stays clean, the campsites are unbelievably level, they offer free transportation to all of the resorts and parks, and the outdoor pools are some of the best we've seen. It's really a shame that Disney doesn't have a chain of campgrounds similar to KOA -- we'd be their best customer. I can usually find something that needs to be improved upon, but they've thought of everything. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Overpriced and overrated. This is our 2nd stay here - did not review first time as we thought maybe we were just unlucky the first time. Disney online reservation system is so poor I complained - customer service rep admitted system was set up to sell package upgrades and then gave me Disney bucks for my trouble. Sites, even with the upgrades still not easy to get into. All the stuff in the site and the trees and landscaping take away from usable space. Check in was slow and cumbersome. Busy, busy park - activity and crowd "buzz" all day. Lots of traffic - buses, golf carts, bicycles, cars, RVs, etc. Internal park to park transportation takes a long time - boat from Magic Kingdom to cg was better. Cable TV like most resort cable systems - half infomercials for resort. We stayed here to give grand kids a WDW visit while mom and dad were vacationing before dad leaves again for Afghanistan. Luckily, for us, kids got bored with WDW after the second day and begged to go to the beach so we were able to leave early. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We have been Disney fans for many years. We are DVC members. This is the first time we have camped at Fort Wilderness. This does not measure up to other Disney properties. We were placed in the 200 loop. It is a challenge to park in this loop if you have a large rig, particularly if all the sites are full. I think that when you are placed in a site, they have no idea how big your rig or camping unit is. The site was small and dirty. I could go on, but I won't. Hint: If you go to Fort Wilderness, you do not have to take the first site assigned. Look the site over, if you don't like it, request a different one. Campers coming in are doing this all the time. Wow. Wow. Wow. That is really all we can say. The site was perfect, the staff cleans all the sites immediately prior to arrival, they are all concrete, great hookups, great location, and absolutely first class. The hookups are in the middle, which caused me to stretch my fresh water hose a bit far. Also, it tested the limits of my power cable (30 amp). We stayed in a premium site, and were very pleased with the location, the immaculate comfort stations, and the overall experience. We did find free Wi-Fi near the trading post, and it was very quick. There was no Wi-Fi at the campsite itself, and we did not pay for the cable internet (for 10 bucks a day). Please bear in mind that we did not spend a lot of time at the campground because we were always at the parks, but we realized afterward that we should have planned some days in the campsite, as there are a multitude of activities there. We are ecstatic and are ready to plan our next Ft. Wilderness vacation. This is truly a resort. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We loved staying at the Fort Wilderness campground. The only reason to not make this a 10 rating is because we had such a hard time backing in. The site itself is large enough, the problem was the site across from us was too close to maneuver our fifth wheel AND their car was parked in front of their rig. If we could have located them to move the car just for our backing in, we would have made it fine. Once in our site, we had no problems opening awnings, picnic table and parking our vehicle within our site. The bath house and laundry facility were very clean, access to buses and boat transportation was great (loop 400). The pool was under renovation, but it was pretty cold for a swim anyway. We've stayed at the Disney resorts on previous visits and paid $200-300 per night. The campground is a bargain compared to that. As for the expense of grocery items, etc. - you are still at Disney where everything is exorbitantly priced. Groceries can be purchased off-site for more reasonable prices. The fenced dog park was terrific and we also used the on-site kennels so that we could enjoy the parks all day without worries for our pets. The staff were terrific and dogs were well-cared for. We did not use Disney's WIFI nor did we watch much TV. The petting farm is no longer at the campground, but has moved to Animal Kingdom where you would have to use your park admission to see - we were a little bummed about that. Otherwise - take plenty of cash and have a great time - you're at Disney World! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We were in a Deluxe site, not Preferred, meaning the front half of the pad is paved and the other portion gravel. Not considering the location and Pixy Dust, the roads are narrow and paved. Disney added road base and pads over a swamp and you are mainly limited to the man made areas. Parking at sites is very limited and no overflow parking. Voltage and water pressure was fine. The park is clean and has ground transportation to the main public area which has no parking for vehicles. I don't know when it was built, but believe it was years ago for smaller RV's. I wouldn't stay again if I couldn't get the Cast Member discount. I did enjoy hearing all the kids having fun. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This place is not worth the money: First, I made my reservations back six months ago. I emphatically told them I had to have a thirty-foot wide slot because of all the slides. What do they put me in? A site made for a twenty-four foot unit. Cannot change because they are full they say. Give me my money back and I will elsewhere. Sorry, no refunds, your stuck here. To pass the time away, I watched others trying to get into their sites. One person took over forty-five minutes trying to get his rig in. These, by way were supposed to Premium sites? I could not open my compartments without closing the slides on one side. Then, I cannot use the picnic table without closing the slide on the other side. Plus I cannot open my awning. Lets make the best of this place anyways. Go to turn on the WI-FI and no signal. Find out there are only three places for WI-FI. Go there and find no power at these places. You either sit in your car or outside in rocking chairs. So back we come charged up and find that on top of the Sixty plus dollars a day they charge us, it is Ten dollars more a day for WI-FI. Then comes the payoff, the pool was closed for renovations and it was a couple mile trip or an hours ride using WDW transportation to the pool that campground users were allowed to be in. Later went to the store for a few items and the prices there were for example, $5.50 for a bottle of beer, $2.50 for a can of Soda etc., Found it cheaper to go drive to a Wal-Mart than buy anything in the Campground. All in All, if you are going to go to WDW, no matter how much the kids or grand kids want you to stay there don’t, save yourself money and stay elsewhere. The Forty plus dollars you can save a day staying elsewhere can pay for a lot of parking etc. One last thing, No Smoking allowed. That is unless it is pot, that they allow and the smoke from some of the sites drifted over choked us. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camp at Fort Wilderness for about a week each year and believe it is the best campground we have used. I wanted to report on the new Premium sites. They are great and we had no trouble backing into the site like we have had in the past with the very tight Preferred sites. We stayed on the 500 loop. The site was absolutely level and we put the leveling jacks down only to stabilize the coach since there was no need to adjust the level. The site is large and completely paved so we tracked a lot less sand and pine needles into the coach than we had in past years. We will continue to make an annual trip to WDW and will continue to stay at the Fort. We camped here in a Motorhome.

What a great place. We were in the back loop near the boat to Magic Kingdom, the restaurants, and Mickey's BBQ. The sites are roomy and BEAUTIFUL. Palm trees, pine trees, flowers aaahhhh. There are bike trails, and playgrounds. The Hoop DE DO dinner show was awesome even with 3 kids. There is a beach, motor boats, and horseback riding. You do not ever have to leave the campground. We had a hard time getting our kids to leave for the parks. We rented a golf cart because park is so large you need one. The showers were immaculate and the laundry room fantastic. This was our first time here and Disney did not disappoint us. The sites are level and groomed, and many are newly remodeled with fresh concrete and BBQ grills. Disney provides free transportation anywhere in it's facilities either by bus or boat. They even have a vector control program to keep control of the bugs. We stayed here for 6 nights in January, in a preferred site, for $62 per night plus tax. The pad was small, with sand in the back, but it was level. We were in the 1400 loop, backing onto an algae-covered "canal," where people paddled canoes. The sites are all shaded and the campground was very quiet. They include cable and full hookups. The larger premium sites feature longer pads. My main complaint was that the sinks in the bath houses are automatic shut-off and don't have hot water! I checked out other bath houses and none of them appeared to have hot water in the sinks. A few times I washed up in the laundry room, where the sink had hot water. The bathrooms are otherwise very nice, the showers are hot, although the changing areas are small. The wi-fi is about $10 a day and is very erratic depending on where your site is; we saw a lot of people using their laptops at the trading post areas. We liked the bus system and taking the boat to the Magic Kingdom. We also had bikes to ride to some of the outer areas of the campground, since things are very spread out. The main pool is 82 degrees and large. We loved having birds around, the cleanliness, the campfire and nightly movies. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Not sure the actual price of the lot since it was part of a vacation package; but it was at least $60. Since it was a Disney park the location was excellent for the park. The short boat ride to Magic Kingdom was very nice. All the activities and close restaurants were nice. As for a campground, it was a bit rustic. It was very difficult to get into the space (very tight fit) and the people working the gate did not know anything about RVs. When I asked if the site was a back-in or pull-through, they did not know what I was talking about. And, even though there was a pull-off for hitching and un-hitching, the person was not aware of it or what it was for. Since you stay here to see Disney, it is a good location; but I wonder why Disney does not see a market for a more "resort-like" section that does not feel as "camping in the woods." This is a great campground. We've stayed here about a dozen times. There's plenty to do. The Meadows pool is great, Disney transportation is convenient (although we drive to the parks), and the restrooms are by far the nicest I've ever seen in a campground. We stayed in a premium loop and had no problem getting our 45' motorhome in and out. The sites aren't large, but we don't spend much time at the site when we're here. The only thing I don't like is the internet access. We've tried using the cable modem at the site a few times, and it's never worked. Wireless internet works fine, but you can't get it at your site.; you need to go to the Settlement, the Outpost or the Meadows Trading Post. Either way it's $9.95 a night, which is a lot considering what you're already paying for a site here. That certainly won't keep us from coming back, though; we love the Fort. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Fort Wilderness never disappoints. Opportunities for bicycling are very good. All of the advantages of a Disney resort are available, including free and frequent transportation to all Disney parks and areas. In addition to bus transportation, one can take the boat (also free) from the FW dock directly to the Magic Kingdom; this beats going through the transportation and ticket center. Nice large pool; arcades ($); restaurant; playgrounds. There is a very large, fenced dog park where you can let Fido run freely. On the down side, you don't get to choose your RV space; you take what they give you. On the other hand, nothing beats Disney's great service and attitude toward its paying customers. Nice park under pine trees which translated to our satellite/internet dish not working. Our daily price would have been much higher except we came in with a large group and stayed a week. By staying in the CG you avoid the car driving and the boat/bus rides are great but there is always a wait for them. Sites are narrow but not too close together provided you can safely back in. Our loop (1700) is narrow and will test your backing skills. As previous stated their internet prices are too high - bring an "air card" and save the internet fee. Meals throughout the park also high (carry food/drinks into the park - especially if you have a family). Ignore this if you don't mind high prices. They charge 5.00 daily for pets and do provide scented waste bags but that's still too high - especially since we and everyone else picked up after their pets. The water was drinkable but the water pressure was pretty low. Their cable TV was mostly things to see/do at Disney and a couple of news channels. We really missed having our satellite dish. Other than that, it's a unique park and everyone should visit it at least once - with your little kids or grandkids. That's who it is really designed to please. We visit every 25 years so guess we'll be back in 2033 but probably not before as there are too many other good parks out there that need to be "checked out:. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in one of the premium sites on Loop 700 which had been recently updated to include a new concrete pad. Wired broadband internet access is very reliable but expensive at $9.95 per 24 hours. A cable modem kit can be checked out for a refundable $125 deposit if you do not bring one with you. Wireless hot spots are also available in select locations at an even pricier $4.95 per hour. If visiting any theme park other than the Magic Kingdom (accessible via ferry), I highly recommend bringing a dinghy to avoid the wait and confusion of the bus transportation system. The campground offers a substantial number of amenities and daily events. Since we spent the majority of our time in the Disney theme parks we will definitely return to take advantage of these amenities. I would rate this campground a 10 were it not for the expensive internet access and a limited set of cable TV channels (mostly Disney owned and local channels). We camped here in a Motorhome.

The site was tight to back into. The camper in front of us voluntarily moved to help us out, which was greatly appreciated. Our RV is long (39 feet), and that made the task a little daunting. Leaving, a couple of people also voluntarily moved, but we could have made it past them if necessary. We didn't get to take advantage of the amenities of the campground, as we spent most of our waking hours at Disney Theme Parks. The biggest issue we had was the frequency of the buses to transport you from sites to the Settlement or Outpost. We waited over 20 minutes on several occasions. Besides that, the sites were clean, with a picnic table and BBQ at each site. The electric connection was at the very rear of the site, but our standard cord luckily reached. We did Trick-or-Treat Halloween night, and were amazed at the detail many campers put into their decorations. We would return again, but plan on staying for longer than a week so we could take advantage of the campground's amenities. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Yep, I am just going to add my praise for Fort Wilderness. I don't know if I can think of a negative. Bathrooms and showers were spotlessly clean, and seemed to stay that way. Lots of things to do without even leaving the campground, and you are just a water ferry ride away from the Magic Kingdom. We had an "off season" rate plus a discount (AAA), which is why it was under $50. We most definitely will be returning! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We visited the park and used it as a base camp for our trip to Halloween Horror Nights, as well as our visit to Animal Kingdom. We found the park very clean, well kept, they were still making improvements on some of the loops, but had no impact on the experience. We took in a movie in the meadow, biked around the area enjoying the campgrounds offerings. If you stay here plan on a day just in the campground seeing and doing things. Bring the "smores" kit cause your gonna need it at the movie. Be sure you bring your bike as the carts are a little pricey, but you can bike to everything in the campground and enjoy it. My wife and I have camped many times at Ft Wilderness Campground over the past thirty years. This resort is one of the finest, if not the finest, we have ever visited. Last year we celebrated our forty-first year anniversity at Walt Disney. When you stay at Ft Wilderness campground you know it is Disney. You are subjected to the highest quality of service, friendly cast members and beautiful scenery. Transportation service at the campground is excellent. You may travel by boat, bus or use your own vehicle, which I don't recommend, to visit any of the Parks or Hotels. Great value for great service and a campground that we feel is second to none. For a 30 year old campground, Ft Wilderness is very nice. Disney transportation will take you anywhere you want to go within Disney World (although you may have to transfer between buses and boats and monorails). Bathrooms are very clean. This 30 year old campground does have shortcomings, some of which Disney is addressing: (i) they are adding "for fee" Wi-Fi (which is a travesty - Wi-Fi should be free); (ii) they are improving swimming areas; (iii) they could stand to clear some more trees (the campground is very wooded in some parts). Overall, this is a great campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We spent most of the days at various parks and our camp fee was in a package, but the rate was $46 for week nights and $64 for the weekends. We attended the sing along and night movies which was all great. We camped in site 903 and were right next to the outpost (camp store), and near the pool and movie screen. 6 nights of expensive full hook-up was not worth 4 days of flooded camp-site. we were truly disappointed with the what used to be a "magical disney touch" for atmosphere. there was some sort of safety issue going on for a few nights, what it was they would not tell us, but with security people and vehicles every few minutes- looking around werely, we were worried. roads are tight and we had to try a second campsite to fit. not sure what is going on with landscaping, bare and unsightly. will not be back for this price. This campground was just as nice as I expected it to be. Our site pad was slightly unlevel, but the site was well set up with a table and grill. The cable service had a good variety of channels, and the transportation system served us very well. We had no problem adding an extra night to our stay. I was disappointed by all the removal of the brush between campsites and the roadways. Shuttle service is available via Disney buses around the campground. I highly recommend bringing a golf cart. You could rent one at Fort Wilderness at a high price. If you have a trailer you can do what we did borrow one from a friend or rent it from your hometown and trailer it. Or if you do not want the trouble rent one. The showers were clean and had a small changing area before the shower area. I was disappointed with the pool area. I know now that the pool is being refurbished. Check in could be explained much better. We rented a scooter and had it dropped off to main desk with no problems. No problems with electric. Our dogs loved the dog run!!! The competes varied, like all campgrounds. Some were deep others were shallow and right on top of the road. Campground was clean. Of course we will visit again. Disney, as usual, does things right. "Comfort stations" are clean and well maintained. I wouldn't call the sites huge, but they are nicely wooded and felt fairly private despite somewhat close proximity to neighboring sites. The lane through the campgrounds is narrow, though, and I struggled a little bit with getting the camper just where I wanted it because of limited room while backing. I'm still not sure how some of those big buses got in and out of their sites without hitting a tree or site post. Our site was dead-level and paved with asphalt surrounded by crushed shells that felt like sand (but tended to track into the camper). There was plenty of water pressure and good sewer hook-ups. For $60 a night, I would hope for free Wi-Fi, but it's $10 extra for 24 hours, and you pretty much have to be at the Trading Post to use it. Free transportation to Disney properties can be a little like playing Chinese checkers by the time you hop-skip-and-jump from a campground shuttle bus to a ferry boat to the monorail, etc. But late one night at a campground shuttle stop, we saw a family who obviously didn't speak English and had somehow wound up far from where they were supposed to be. The bus driver patiently explained the three or four steps they would need to take to get home, and they seemed to understand. A few minutes later, though, a white Disney minivan pulled up and offered to take the family directly home. Obviously the bus driver was concerned they wouldn't get there and called for help. First class operation! If you're going to do Disney, this is a great way to do it: You get all the guest privileges of guests who stay at the fancy Disney hotels, such as early/late access to theme parks on certain days, and you don't have to pay restaurant prices for every meal when you eat in the camper. We have not camped at Ft. Wilderness in 12 years and this is the first time for us without our children since we were married. I will give you the pros and the cons. Pros – It’s Disney and the whole atmosphere is great. They have more busses now going to everything so there is less of a wait but did notice some of the cabin loops waited for quite awhile. The Hoop De Do is there and that is good. The boat dock and beach are there and the bathrooms are wonderful. We were there Memorial Weekend and the following week and were surprised that the crowds were not big at the parks during the weekend. The campground though was crowded but the loops thinned out after the holiday weekend. They still have the water light parade at 9:45 every night on the Bay and Magic Kingdoms fireworks behind it which is beautiful. Checkin was fast and easy and the staff was great. You don’t even get out of your car or camper to checkin. They now put out a little schedule of all the activities during the day for people staying at the campground – great for kids. They still have the movies at night at the campfire. Staying at the campground you can find a bus to anywhere in Disney World and Downtown Disney. This is the best thing! Also one of the best deals (don’t tell Disney though) is that if you purchased a mug for $12 you can fill it up with soda, water, coffee, tea etc as much as you want during your whole stay at Disney. Every resort does this so you can go with your mug from resort to resort and drink away! Disney tries to control smoking around their resorts but there seems to be a lot more people smoking in Florida then other states, and no one thinks they are littering when they throw their butts on the ground. Cons – The cost keeps going up and it is close to $100 a night for the premium sites. Since I made my reservation a year ago they have raised the price three times and now they charge more if you are there for a weekend then they do for the week so that your rate is not the same the whole time. No Wifi except for three places around the park (for the price you pay they should have wifi). They charge you for the wifi $10 for 24 hours which is over $300 for wifi for a month and that is just for the internet nothing else. Our loop was quiet, but some of the other loops especially during the holiday weekend were noisy, but not during the week. They are planning some big changes here with adding or expanding sites to become pull throughs and more sites for the big, big rigs. I can’t imagine what they are going to charge for these changes. This campground went from not allowing pets to having one loop with pets to – during our bike rides we counted at least 10 loops for campers with pets so they have really changed their policy. Right now during the week the park was only a third filled but on the weekends totally filled – it used to be always filled. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Camped for 8 nights: got the AAA rate. As good as we remember from the 1980's. If you have a golf cart, trailer it. You do not need a tow vehicle. Bicycles are great for getting around. Chose the preferred sites near the Settlement Trading post (loop 400). This was within easy walking distance of the boat and bus stops. Need to get in early to verify that your MH will work on the sites. Some have trees that limit the slides and awnings. Also: Disney does not book the long, paved sites properly. Need to call the "front desk", ask for Fort Wilderness and then they will "relocate" you. If you have guest flying in, the Disney Magic Express will pick them up at the airport. We took down the grandkids and flew in the parents. What a relief not to have to drive to the airport to pick up and drop off. There are several independent blogs you need to read. Remember: Golf Carts rent for $40 - $50. Not cheap. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Campground is huge! Our site was beautifully landscaped on the end of a row in Dogwood Acres. Concrete pad with sand area and grill in the back. Back-in site but quite wide and easily negotiated turns. Immaculate bath house. Very quiet CG. Buses traveled throughout the Disney facility and to all parks so no tow vehicle was needed however, bus travel is slow so patience is required to get anywhere. Very nice pool near the market with plenty of kids' activities. Nice view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the marina but it would be nice to hear the music that accompanies the show. I would rate this a 10 except for the outrageous charge of $10 a day for internet and the lack of cable. Overall however, a pleasant week. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Its Disney so it going to be a well maintained campground. Sites and streets are a little narrow so big rigs and big 5th wheels will have a bit of a hard time maneuvering. Onsite transportation is easy to get to and runs promptly. You could spend a couple of days just with the activities in the campground. Only thing that was not completely up to Disney standards was that they have cut down a lot of the trees that surrounded the sites. Looks a bit rough at the moment but I'm sure they will planting new plants to replace what they removed. At our site the cable and electrical hookups where at the front of the site so extensions for both where needed. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Expensive, but a wonderfull campground. The negatives: The pet loop is quite narrow, and appears to be designed for tent campers of years ago. This makes for a very tight approach to your site. The sites are not easy to back into. Not only are the not angled enough for easy entry, but large trees across from your site will interfere with your backing in. Other than that this is an excellent park at the Disney resort. Nice pools, campground entertainment at night, store with plenty to choose from, playgrounds, restaurant and bar, transportation around the campground and to the theme parks, the list goes on. Another great camping trip at Disney's Fort Wilderness! It was, however, the most crowded in the 19 years we have been going camping at Fort Wilderness. Many, many, many campers from the whole East Coast of the US. Our only disappointment is that it looks like they are not going to rebuild the swamp trail boardwalk that got damaged during the 2004 hurricanes. We always enjoyed walking that trail. They have done a lot of clearing of brush and trees throughout the park. We were told for fire and potato vine control. It does not afford the seclusion between the sites and the loops as before. This was our 7th stay at Fort Wilderness, and it's consistently excellent. Some sites can be tough to get into for a big rig, but we've always managed without much trouble. There's enough foliage and understory that the neighbors don't seem close. A lot of brush/trees have been cleared lately, but we viewed that as a plus. Bathrooms are impeccably clean, even during the busy spring break period. The restaurant has buffets which are very reasonably priced and varied in choices. There is a petting zoo for kids and pony rides. Though the trip was wonderful because we were in the Park everyday, I want to point out specifics on the camping side. The sites are small, but they are very far apart. Asphalt to park on - electric connections are far away - bring an extension. Great showers and rest rooms, laundry rooms on each loop. Several pools, volleyball, shuffleboard, activities for all ages all day and into the night, horse riding, several stores (of course at Disney prices), boat rentals, etc. Stores even have beer, wine, and liquor (mini-bottles and regular sizes). This was our first trip to Disney. Everything about the campground was fantastic. I only give it a 9 because of the area immediately surrounding the campsite which is a bit swamp like, but overall the campground is fabulous. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth. There is so much to do at the campground, it's almost worth taking a day off from the parks to stay at the campground. We camped in the 2000 loop, which was kind of far away from everything, but we were by the Group Camping area that has a short cut bridge to the Meadows Trading Post, which helped. Sand pad for the tent was approx 34 x 20, with an additional 15 x 10 "L" with the charcoal grill. Lots to do, tennis, pool (kind of showing it's age)basketball, pony and trail rides and much more. Leave at least one day to just play around the campground. This campground is HUGE. Bring your bikes. We did get a golf cart the last few days for something new, but they are $50 a day. Internal buses were slow, and external were either very GOOD or very BAD. There seemed to be no middle ground. Everything is very clean and immaculate as only Disney can make it. This was our 5th stay at Fort Wilderness in the past 25 years. Since the hurricanes came through in '04 they have removed a lot of trees, shrubs, etc. It opens up the park and took away some of the privacy there use to be between sites and the buffers to the road. I did see a lot of planting going on so hopefully some buffer to the roads will be there before long. As always we stayed in one of the outer loops - much roomier. We had no problem getting our 38 ft MH into our site except for the fellow across from us who had is big dually sitting out in the road. Otherwise, pretty easy in and out. Overpriced, but it is Disney and the ability to stay on the premises is well worth it. I wish the theme parks were as well taken care of as the RV park - we may not be back because of the lack of cleanliness in the theme parks. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I admit, after reading some of the reviews prior to staying here, I was wondering if I was making the right choice. Yes, spaces were sometimes tight, but if you know what you're doing, you should have no problem. The amenities were first class, the campground was beautiful and the people & staff are VERY friendly. Yes, it's expensive - but it's Disney! I'd stay again. Oh yeah - they're expanding the width and length of most of the site, and trimming back trees and utilities near the loop roads - there is already a LOT more room in some of the loops. Staying at the WDW campground has both its advantages the problems. With today's larger RVs and trucks, the narrow roads in each loop can cause problems and even disaster. Our request for a site close to the 'comfort station' in premium loop 300 was granted. The road (even in this premium loop) was so narrow, to get into our site we had to ask a neighboring camper to move his truck to get the angle to more in (see a previous review for a similar problem). Staying at mom & pop RV parks on our travels to WDW, we had free Wi-Fi. However WDW cannot even offer Tengo internet service at your site like some parks do for $4.95/24 hours (all 24!). Instead for Wi-Fi, you must go to 1 of 3 sites in the campground for dawn to dusk service for $9.95 for 24 hr fee (but you can't use it for 24 hr), but with our Vista program, that even wasn't possible. No wonder many people in the campground who winter there use a server with a local dial-up phone number at a specific location; slow but even better than paying a $125 deposit for modem equipment which is available for use at your site. If you stay for a long period, you will need to do laundry: another WDW rip off for $2/ea for wash or dry ($1.25-$1.50 in other parks). We also checked out golf cart rental: $50/day! No wonder many people who come regularly bring their own cart and that we did not rent one (in a 14 day stay, we could have owned the cart!) If you want to do early MK hours and take the boat across, allow at least 45 minutes to catch the bus (this means be out to stop by 7 a.m.) as we waited 30 minutes, missed the boat and missed the early open. The only advantages we found were the transportation when it worked and we chose to use, the extra magic hours for WDW resort users, not paying for parking at a park when we chose to drive, and the cable TV for use in the evenings. Our rate was during the value season with tax and an extra $5/day for our dog (was that for the waste bags?). As we live on the west coast, it will be many years before we return to WDW. As for it being a favorite park, we ranked Florida State parks for beauty and relaxation much higher than WDW. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is OK. Looks like they are clearing a lot of brush in our loop: 1900, so it is not very attractive. Other loops might be nicer? Tight, tight. Blacktop pads but no room for any furniture, picnic table, etc. Very narrow sites. When stepping out of the rig you step on dirt. Dirt area behind rig for table, maybe. No Wi-Fi, no cable TV in our loop. I've been in better for the price. Charged an outrageous $5.00 per dog per night. I wonder what that money is for? Everyone picked up after their dog so what's with the charge? Not easy to get around in the Disney area unless you use their transportation. To get from the campground to the Magic Kingdom parking lot you need to drive a long way. Overall, it's good if you are going to the Disney attractions, but little else. Very $$$$$. However, you pay for what you get. Clean restrooms/showers, landscaping, sites groomed,1/2 paved, sing alongs, movies, easy access to the park and I mean very easy. Has nice workers, tennis, heated pool, very large grounds, and many activities. We went over Christmas: the sites were decorated very pretty. There were a total of 20 of us in our party on five seperate sites. 2 sites in 300 section 3 sites in 1200-1300 section all sites were great. I had no trouble getting into site 305 with a 30 footer. Every one in our party will go back. However book now if you want to get in. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

What can I say? We stayed in the 1600 "pet loop" from Dec 15-20. The site was raked clean, with all pavement swept before we got there. Our site was large. It looked like Disney had recently cleared some trees trying to "open up" the site a little, and it was fine. The campground is large, and with a 3 boys (4, 3, and 1), the golf cart rental made perfect sense to us. We usually ate breakfast at the Trails End buffet, which was very convenient. The pools were open, heated, and clean. The transportation to the Disney parks was easy and fast. There is so much to do at Ft. Wilderness that we could have spent our entire trip at the campground. There is a petting zoo, pony rides, and the Chip and Dale singalong campfire nightly. We are already planning our next trip down. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We're back for our third trip to Ft Wilderness. I was looking forward to this trip as this was our favorite campground in six months of traveling across the country with our children. This time our experience has not been so good. We have gotten a dog since our last trip here. This means your selection of sites is very limited. If you have reserved preferred they will not let you downgrade to a non-preferred site even if it will accommodate your size better. The sites are extremely tight for a big motorhome unless you are in the 700 loop or just get lucky. We changed sites (which we simply parked in after not being able to get into the original site we were assigned). The trees and the concrete tree stump containing the electrical are so close that we ended up scraping the tail of our motorhome trying to get out (I'm sure adding several thousand dollars to the cost of our vacation.) Mea culpa, I made the mistake of letting the neighbors help direct my husband out of the old site while I parked the car on the new site. We struggled to get into the new site which had seemed large enough judging by the size of the pad. Again it was tight because of the narrow street, the trees and the large concrete utility post. We had to ask the neighbor to move his truck so we could get in. Hopefully no one will be in that site across the street when we get ready to leave or I guess we will be here forever. That or Disney will have to take down a tree. I think Disney is all about cramming people in and they don't really take much time to accommodate you to your site. They also trap you if you have a pet. One of the things I really enjoyed about this campground last time was taking long walks and bike rides. I was looking forward to this, but you cannot take your dog to walk outside the pet trails, which are not all that long. This means no walking on the long main roads. I could understand not going into the non-pet camping loops, but it seems kind of extreme to not be able to walk your dog on the sidewalks of the main streets. I really enjoy Disney and the accessibility of the campground to the parks. But I will probably not come back until they get more of the park up to modern standards - ie 50 amps, full cable, larger pads. I will definitely exaggerate the size of our motorhome when making the next reservation. I think they will squeeze you into the tiniest spot they can justify if you don't. We just completed an 8 night stay here, our second visit, and found it to be an exceptionally nice park. Lots and lots of tall trees make even narrow sites feel private. Paved pads for the RV and crushed shell pads for the picnic area keep the site neat. Some sites are quite difficult to back in to for large rigs. My neighbor had enormous difficulties getting his long 5th wheel in, to the point he pulled a street sign out of the ground in order to have enough maneuvering room. A more experienced driver could have done it without these measures (he was able to leave without removing the sign) but it should serve as a cautionary tale. The proximity to the parks and other amenities far outstrip the savings you might realize by staying off-property. Those savings are also mitigated by the $12/day parking charged at the parks to non-Disney resort guests. Not to mention the benefit of early entry and extended hours offered to Disney resort guests at the parks on certain days of the week. The transportation is also exceptional with buses to take you anywhere on property and a boat launch to ferry guests to the Magic Kingdom. A cart is an unnecessary luxury, though it would be nice to tour the campground itself which is fun this time of year due to the snow-bird's Christmas decorations. We greatly enjoyed the dinner show, the Hoop-Dee-Doo review, and also the buffet at the Trails End restaurant: both of which are at the campground. We shopped both trading posts and found them well stocked with both supplies and souvenirs. If I were to look for things to complain about I'd mention that: the men's room could be a little cleaner; the shower rooms were cramped and needed more hooks; $10 per day for Wi-Fi is way too much; and that charging $2 for ice, which is free every other Disney resort, seems unfair. We left the park wondering if we should come back in the spring or wait until next Christmas. That sounds like a satisfied customer to me! We camped here in a Motorhome.

What can you say it is classic Disney it doesn't matter if you are in a tent or 40' motor home they treat everyone special. This was our third time at this resort, we have stayed in all different loops and all are wonderful. They are very clean all the undergrowth around the site have been taken out. Looks great,clean and neat. We brought are own golf cart but with the bus you really don't need one. It is little on the high side for camping but it is still a fraction of what you would pay for room at one of resorts on property. It is the place where all your dreams come true. We camped at Ft. Wilderness over Thanksgiving and had a ball! The campground was beautiful and many people had decorated their sites for Christmas. We rented a golf cart and found it very useful for getting around the campground and we especially enjoyed riding around at night and looking at the sites decorated for Christmas. I live close to the park, and camp here often. The park has shown some real signs of decay. Gang graffitti on trash cans and bus stops, dirty bathing facilities, rude cast members, no mulch or pine needles on sites. Just concrete or dirt. Cable works occasionaly, if there is no storm. I hope you like the sound of diesel buses because they run until 1200 am. I am sorry to say that after my last few visits I really did not feel safe and will probably start looking for a new favorite park. Bye Bye Mickey! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Whether you will like Ft. Wilderness depends a lot on you. If you are a Disney-head and/or are in Orlando primarily to visit the Disney parks, especially with kids, it is clearly very convenient. However, there are some downsides, among which are: The place is overrun with little kids riding around on bikes and golf carts, sometimes without much concern for others. The spaces are very tight--it was designed for an earlier era, not today's big motorhomes and fivers; It is very sandy and lacking in turf, so you invariably track sand and dirt into your rv; The cable TV lineup consists mostly of every Disney channel known to man (including of course ABC and ESPN) and not a whole lot else; WiFi is $10/day (nuf said); It is only moderately pet-friendly, confining pets to only a few loops and not allowing them outside the immediate loop; This one is highly subjective, but it seemed to me that their attitude is do it the Disney way or hit the road. In short, if you're there for Disney this is the place for you, but if you're just looking for a good place to camp you might want to reconsider. Outside of the Disney connection it is not all that special, certainly when compared to the top tier of today's parks. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We drove 16 hours to get here and it was well worth the drive. I have been to Disney a number of times and this is the first time I have stayed in the RV park. We normally stay in the resorts. I thoroughlly enjoyed my week here. There is just too much to do, even if you never make it to the theme parks. Very kid friendly. We used the transportation in the park to get around instead of the golf carts. They can be rented but they are a little pricy for my taste. All in all, a perfect trip. I know, it's Disney, but this is the best campground around. The bathhouses are top of the line with Corian sinks and showers, the lots are big and level and the services are typically Disney. When you go, spend the money and rent a golf cart if you didn't bring your bikes. The cart is great for getting to the movies at night, driving to the lake for boat transportation to the parks or simply driving around the grounds. Nice Campground! There were a lot of golf carts running around. We personally found it useful to walk to most everything in the park. The stores were full and complete of anything you may have forgotten, however they did carry Disney Prices. This is the top of the heap as far as places to go with your kids. There is so much for them to do, you almost wish they had an adults only area that you could run away to while they were busy. The outdoor movies at night and campfires made it such a special treat for them. The only drawback is that this place is almost always booked way far in advance. Especially on the weekends. We have enjoyed this park since 1972. It now appears Disney has lowered it's standards concerning children operating golf carts, campers cutting through sites and those using gasoline powered 4x4 atv machines. One atv began doing "doughnuts" around his site after a heaving rain. Disney approached him but he denied doing it and continued to drive it for 2 more days. Several loops have been cleared making the urge for campers to cut through sites more appealing. Some, too lazy to walk to the loop exits, simply walked past those having meals or simplying enjoying the outside. One child, about 6 years old, was driving his parents gasoline powered golf cart all day, simply ignored by security. Still, the most pleasant, cleanest and most expensive park in the USA. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We loved this campground! When we come back to Disney this is definitely where we will stay again! I pretty much agree with all the positives stated in the previous comments, clean, outstanding customer service, excellent amenities, tons of fun activities. We stayed in the 1700 loop which was perfect! The only frustration we had was waiting for transportation at times. Vehicles do come with free parking to all the theme parks if you would rather use your own car. We chose not to pay the $50 per day fee for a golf cart because we used our bikes. Big piece of advice: plan and book in advance for everything (dinner theaters, entertainment, special amenities for your site, golf cart, etc.). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I had not been here in many years. It is one of the great RV parks in America. I do think it is showing its age. The site we were in (603) was wonderful. Very level paved site and a nice creek to the rear. Not a far walk to the bike barn to rent bikes and golf carts and the pool was nearby too. Had a full hook up site and since my grandson was coming up graded to a premium site. Was very easy to get to all the parks and everyone was very helpful. The only complaint one might have is that the showers are not as plentiful as one might like. I would suggest bring a bike or renting a golf cart. It is at least a mile from one end to the other. Place was Disney clean! I know that the price can get high, but you are well located and there are more things to do than you will have time to do them! Wish they would sell time shares in the sites as part of the Disney Vacation club! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is a great experience. It is well designed and maintained. The golf cart rentals are very convenient and a great way to get around. The transportation system (bus and boat) to the various parks are easy to access. The Trails End restaurant serves a buffet breakfast and dinner which is reasonable and does not require reservations. The only negative to the whole Disney World experience is the need to make reservations at every sit down restaurant in every park. Make sure you do reservations IN ADVANCE of the day you want to eat there. Same day reservation efforts failed every time I tried. I would return to this park without hesitation. This was our first visit. Two areas of concern. One, the camp site itself. We asked for full hookups when making our reservation. Upon arrival to the 1700 loop area we were told that we did not have cable because we did not ask for "A Premium site." ALL other campgrounds we have stayed at, full meant full. I also had asked for no shade so our roof mounted satellite would work, well, we got a shaded site with no cable. When asked to move, they said all were reserved. For unknown reasons, the pads are only HALF paved. The other half is Kokeana shell, the worst for tracking into your unit. The sewer hookup was in a small stainless steal type bowl. The sides were too high so you could not screw it in nor use a donut. Had to use heavy limb to hold it down. Our power never rose above 110 volts. Several times we noticed it stayed around 108 & 109 volts. VERY POOR for Disney. The spaces are very tight and separated by some brush. Yes, rent a $50 a day golf cart or ride your bike. Reservations are suggested on almost anything you may want to do. I was ready for the high prices but not being able to swim at the beautiful white sandy beach was not one of them. The pools were very over crowded and not properly chlorinated. The day after checking in we rode around the entire campground. Saw no less than 28 "premium" campsites available, oh well. After all being said, been there done that and won't be back! We camped here in a Motorhome.

This resort is really nice. It is the nicest campground that we have ever stayed in by far, but it also costs the most. All sites are paved and clean, and the bath houses are immaculate. Even though it costs more than the average campground, it is still the cheapest way to stay on Disney Property. We go several times a year, but I recommend Christmas. Our family loves the Campfire Program, and it is actually free of charge. There is also tight security, so not just anyone can roll through the campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our first time at Fort Wilderness and I can't say enough positive things about this campground. The sites are tight but separated with trees. A park employee helped us park and then went across the street and helped someone else. Very Nice. We were in the 800 loop which I recommend for being close to pool, marina and food. Plan ahead and rent a golf cart - there is a charge, we paid about $300 for our entire trip, but it's well worth it and part of the fun. The bathrooms are very clean and nice. One bathhouse per loop with ice machine, phone and laundry facilities. Laundry had 4 washers and 8 dryers. Well stocked store for campers needs as far as food goes, but it's a resort so you will pay higher prices. Lots of rabbits, ducks, armadillos. Horses riding on site for a fee. This is a great campground even if you aren't doing the Disney parks. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

There is so much to do in the campground that you could easily stay a week and not visit the theme parks. They are very kid friendly and other campgrounds should take lessons from Disney. Excellent camp ground. All services and attractions (many for a fee) are better than any other camp grounds visited. Place is huge but is completely level--great for bicyle riding. Liked the meandering roads and sidewalks as an added camping experience. Disney transportation to the theme parks is flawless and very convenient. Each loop is pretty much self sufficient for immediate camper services. My site looks as if it has not been mowed in more than a few weeks. Also had to have a fellow camper move their vehicle so I can back in my 33 ft travel trailer into my site. Nothing wrong with the resort style camp ground but considering paying almost $100.00 a night, had expected the "WOW" factor to make it worth the high price. Really this camp ground is not much better looking than the fancy resort style places. I was expecting a little more for the money. Next time will look else where to see if there is a comparable camp ground for a lower price, otherwise will come back again due to the convenience of Disney transportation to the theme parks. Price included two adults, four children and a pet at a preferred site. Decided to give the high rating because all camp ground service was flawless, deducted only due to being pricey. These comments are for Fort Wilderness as a campground. My family's been going to WDW and Disneyland several times a year for many years. In our opinion, staying on-site turns the Disney experience from a nice place to go into a wonderful resort vacation. At WDW, the availability of the dining plan makes the on-site stay even more pleasant. To get this option, one must stay on-site. Fort Wilderness is a terrific campground. We camped in a B+ (small motorhome), so the tight turns and (sometimes) smaller sites are not an issue. This campground is perhaps the most "B-friendly" one around. They give you what you ask for without bias based upon the size of your rig. The bathrooms and showers are modern and clean. The sites are cleaned thoroughly after the previous camper departs. The few minor things that go wrong are attended to quickly and competently. Here are a few things I'd like to see Walt fix: stop charging for Wifi ($10 a day is outrageous); add more bathrooms; alter the automated sink mechanisms to allow me to adjust the temperature of the water. The high daily fee simply reflects the location. We think it is well worth it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. Great place to stay for families. Our kids enjoy the campground more than any hotel room. Excellent transportation in the park and to all Disney attractions. After you make reservations, call the "Bike Barn" and reserve the golf cart. There is parking at your site and up at the front office and that is about it. We stayed 5 nights before memorial day weekend, spent 2 days at Disney parks and the rest in the campground and had a blast. I would hope in the future they would add WiFi service, but then again it is Disney and you are supposed to be on vacation. Only negative on this trip was the initial check-in. Sites were supposed to be available by 1 p.m. We arrived early (11 a.m.), but were unable to get a site until 2 p.m. Not very Disney like. We'll return again as soon as we get a chance. If you're visiting Disney,then this should be your number one choice. I know the nightly charge sounds high, but if you factor in the daily RV parking charge you would have to pay (free parking is available if you stay here) then the charge drops considerably. This wonderful park includes just about everything, and everthing is clean and well maintained. Take advantage of the 10 day package for Disney, because it is only about $40 more for the entire 10 day park pass over a 5 day. An absolutely excellent park. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

Great park, but since it is older it is not set up very well for bigger rigs. The road to our site was very narrow making it difficult to get backed in. The site was so narrow that when we opened the slides, there was very little room to walk to the rear of the coach where the picnic table was. As far as the park in general it was superb. A golf cart or bikes are definitely needed, the place is big. We really enjoyed the "Hoop To Do Review" and having transportation to the other Disney Parks was great. The only draw back is some sites have the hookups too close to the pad causing issues with slide outs and in the winter it is very hard to get a site as they book up quickly. This should be the benchmark to which all campgrounds are measured. The disney experience is worth every cent. Upon check in you are greeted by cast members dressed in era attire. The theme is old west with modern conveniences. All roads are paved and most sites have cement pads. Hook-ups are all easily accessable and should you encounter a problem a service technician is promptly at your site. Some of the disney touches are complimentary transportation to the other disney resorts and theme parks, kennel services for your pet, incredible beach and pool areas, remarkable restrooms and showers. Most hotels would be envious of the calibre of these facilities. Another cute feature is the disney music playing through outdoor speakers as you get close to the waterfront. They also have a bus service that runs continuously through the park all day that is also complimentary. If you wish to stay at the campground they also have bike and boat rentals along with the usual outdoor activities. My only complaint is I'm not returning soon enough. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our first stay at Fort Wilderness. We stayed in the 500 loop and found it to have easy access to the Settlement Depot and most occasions we walked back and forth. It also has a bus stop right at the entrance to the loop, which was convenient. However, there is no bus schedule and we found the buses came erratically. Sometimes they seem to come every ten minutes, but we waited more than 20 minutes on one occasion. At one point two buses heading to the Settlement Depot passed us before one heading to the Outpost Depot. The 500 loop was very narrow, the equivalent of traveling up someone's driveway. All of the sites are back-in only, but we did not have any trouble maneuvering. However, be aware it isn't for the faint of heart or the novice driver. Be especially watchful for children on bikes, as they are everywhere. The campground is huge and at first glance we wished we had towed our car, but then we realized there is NO parking except at the campsite and the Outpost Depot. Many people brought their own golf carts or rented carts on-site. Reservations are needed for the golf carts and the are extremely expensive, almost $300 for seven days. Our campsite was in a great location and we managed well using our bikes. The campground is exceptionally maintained, as with all Disney resorts. The pool area does seem to be outdated and in need of an upgrade, but it was clean. There are two stores, one at the Meadows and one at the Settlement Depot. While they are both fully stocked with Disney paraphernalia, they are seriously lacking in food and camping supplies. Ensure you bring everything you will need for your trip because little is available and as to be expected the prices are exorbitant. We were required to pay $5 extra per night for our two dogs, but I don't understand why. Pets are not allowed outside of the "Pet Loop." Our cost per night including the pet fee and taxes came to just a little more than $100, which is excessive for a campsite given that we spent very little time at the actual campsite. I was disappointed with the petting zoo. They had pony rides, but there were height and weight restrictions, so my tall 7-year old daughter was not able to ride. But she was too young for the 9-year old requirement for the alternative horseback riding option offered. In addition, I was disappointed with the staff. I did not find them to be as helpful and friendly as what I have come to expect from Disney Resorts. The Friday before Easter there was apparently a night-time light parade followed by fireworks, but we did not receive any information regarding the event nor was it posted on the campground cable channel. I called the office to see if it would be repeated on Saturday and the "Cast Member" stated that she didn't know and I would have to call the Meadow Trading Post. The number listed for the Meadows Trading Post was no longer a valid telephone number. We enjoyed the sing-a-long and campfire, but didn't stay for the movie. Bring your own marshmallows and sticks! I highly recommend the Hoop-De-Doo review. reservations are required. We had a fabulous time! While it is over priced, Fort Wilderness more than compensates with its convenient location and available Disney transportation. We will most definitely return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Oh my goodness this campground could never be praised enough it is so immaculate. The restrooms are as clean as your own home. The pool is warm enough to swim on the chillier nights in Disney. The stores are well equipped with the extra little things you forgot to buy in the parks. The transportation to the parks is wonderful. My sister has several disabilities that puts her in a wheel chair and she has dietary issues where she can not eat any gluten products. I must say the staff here are the best in the world they all were understanding and it made for our vacation to be less stressful and more enjoyable. Great place to stay to visit the Magic Kingdom. The ferry boat takes campers directly to the Magic Kingdom from the campground. The sites were difficult to enter and exit due to narrow roads and site entrances. The staff did work with us to get into a site that worked for us. However once in the site, they are large and semi-private since the foliage partially barricades your site from the next one. The wifi charges of $9.95/ day were high considering we were already paying $82/night plus $5/night for the dog. That's why this campground only rated a 7. We were in the 700 loop this year and the 500 loop last time and both are close to the ferry dock. You also get free parking at the theme parks if you stay at Disney and for a motorhome that saves about $12/day per park if you skip the Disney transportation and drive to the theme parks. We will stay here again the next time we visit Disney World. We stayed in a 30 foot Class A motorhome We camped here in a Motorhome.

We camp here several times a year and always have a great time. Beware that if quiet is important, the sites close to the bus stops are noisy until late at night. We always request to be far away from them. Birds and bunnies aplenty. The restrooms are spotless. Our 3 year old likes the pony rides and playgrounds. We used bikes and found no need for electric cart. We were here in December and again in January. Our sites were both back-in. 1400 loop was tight in terms of trees and length but very convenient to campfire and movie location. Our site in 500 loop was very nice, close to clean laundry facilities. (They have the best laundry I have seen.) We could not get satellite either place. At registration, because of the large size of the campground, they really do not want to give you much input into your site selection. We have camped many times over a 20 year span in Fort Wilderness. Yes, it is a nice campground. Sites are very small, especially for a large motorhome towing a car hauler. As a staffer recently told us, they were designed for 26-28 foot camping trailers. Roads are tight, difficult to back into sites. Pets are charged $5 per night -- what does this money cover? Since we religiously clean up after our Mini Schnauzer, she isn't costing the campground anything. We last stayed in the 1900 loop. Every time we took her for a walk it took us 20 minutes to clean the droppings from the cypress trees out of her long hair. That being said, it truly is a magical place and we will happily continue to camp in FW. We just would like to see Disney expand the campground with a "big rig friendly" area. Just returned from a 5 night stay Halloween week. Without question this is the nicest RV park we have ever been too. The cleanliness is immaculate. The activities are enormous. For example - just being able to see all the Disney horses and watch a Percheron being shoed by the farrier was a wonderful experience for our children. The campfire program is priceless. The pools are large, clean and well managed. The bathhouses and showers are without question the nicest I have ever seen. It just doesn't get any better. Yes, I agree the sites are a little small and the roads tight - you have to remember this campground was built when pop-ups were the norm and not 45' coaches with 4 slides. I have a 40' DP with 3 slides and 2 awnings. The office helped me locate a site that was manageable. It is a wonderful place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A person can use the inter-campground busses to get from location to another, but we have found bicycles work best for us. Because of it's size, the campground rents golf carts. We had a great time at Disney. We stayed here 7 days and had a 7 day park hopper pass so we were at the theme parks all day, every day. The one complaint I have regarding Fort Wilderness is that the drive ways in the camping loops are narrow. I had a hard time backing into our site on the 500 loop. Basically, we only used the campground for a place to stay. They have a marina on site with a boat running every 10 minutes or so to take you to the Magic Kingdom, the boat ride itself is also about 10 minutes. They also have buses running throughout the campground to take you anywhere you want to go at Disney. Buses to Epcot, MGM, the waterparks, anywhere you want to go. When I unhooked the camper and turned the truck off, the next time I started the truck was to hook the camper back up to leave. We didn’t go for the campground, we went for Disney and it was the most affordable way to do it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Had a great time! Stayed here for 10 nights in the 700 loop. Backing in to the site was tight, but we managed. The only problem we experienced was that when it rained, water accumulated under our steps and soaked the outdoor rug we normally use. Not a huge problem though, we simply put the rug away when it dried and swept the water away after each rain. Other than that the campground was immacculate and we were never bored. The transportation to and from the parks was excellent and the drivers were always friendly and informative. The cast members working at the campground were great too! Everything was just wonderful, we will definitely be going back! A little tight backing in our 37 foot motorhome, but we figured it out. Arrived well before check-in, 9am I believe, and was sent right to our site. Paid an extra $10/night to have a ‘preferred’ site, which means we had cable and were within walking distance to the restaurant, petting zoo, beach and boat to Magic Kingdom, etc. If you have your own golf cart it really isn’t necessary, but if you don't and have small children, it does make it easier. We towed a car but used the bus service for all the other parks as we found it really wasn’t worth the hassle of navigating traffic and parking lots when the busses are right here for you. The only reason I did not give them a 10 is the fact that they have no wifi for the campground sites. They have them in the cabins, but not the sites. I'm surprised that Disney has not setup wifi yet for this campground. Even Texas has free wifi in rest areas, so you'd think Disney would have it by now. As most other posts have indicated, this campground is done in true "Disney" fashion - the setting is beautiful, stores are reasonably well stocked (I really didn't find the prices that high, considering it's in a prime tourist area), washrooms were beautiful, laundry rooms had everything you'd need to get your laundry done. Although it is a large campground, we didn't get the feeling that we were in a huge park. Check in was a bit slow, but we arrived the same time as 5 others. Although we arrived before normal check-in time we were given a site right away and were able to head off to the theme parks. We were situated in the 800 section and had no problems getting around on foot (or bike). When we used the bus we just drove our truck up to the front bus pick-up and left the truck in the parking lot. One thing I would recommend that is not directly connected to the campground is the "Magic Your Way Dining Plan". We purchased this plan because we knew we wouldn't want to head back to the trailer to eat. It was well worth it - it cost about $700 for our family of 4, however, the actual cost of the snacks and meals we got through the plan was about $900. You could literally go to the park with just your Magic Your Way card and still be able to get drinks, ice cream, meals, etc. We ended up getting food for the road on our last day because we hadn't used up all of our snack and meal coupons. We had never stayed on Disney property before, but we'll return to Fort Wilderness Campground the next time we go to Disney. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Being "on-property" at Walt Disney World is worth a lot. Ft. Wilderness is so convenient to all of Disney's theme parks; and, Magic Kingdom is just a short boat ride away from the Settlement. The campground is as old as WDW, 35 years. And, there has not been much improvement for RV's, as they continue to get bigger, with more slide-outs. However, we manage to get our 45' motor home, with some tight maneuvering, into some very nice sites. We return at least twice a year; not just for the campground, but for WDW itself. The staff, or cast members, at Ft. Wilderness have been just super in helping us to get 'just the right' site. Mickey has had us hooked since Walt's Sunday night TV show. We'll continue to go back, since we're just 'kids at heart. Forget the hassles at check-in, Ft. Wilderness is just part of the wonderful Disney experience. And, if you haven't been to SOARIN' at Epcot, you haven't been to WDW. Why a 8, and not a 10? We keep waiting for Disney's Global Management to realize that they really MUST improve Ft. Wilderness. The Loop roads really are much too narrow, and there are too many obstacles very close to the sites. Pets are restricted to a certain few loops, and an additional fee per day is charged per pet. Okay this is Disney folks, and this is the best campground I've ever been to. The sites aren't too large, but there are rabbits, etc. all over the place even with over 1000 camp sites there. They have every amenity and the shower/bathhouse is like a luxury hotel. It is a big place, and some people rent golf carts for their stay, but bikes will do just as well. It's really beautiful with a ton of landscaping and of course, just a boat or bus ride to any of the Disney parks. We are coming back this spring break, and although it was pretty crowded, the people are friendly and helpful and the food at the restaurant is great! Can't wait to go back soon. We heard nothing but great things about this campground. After arriving we found it VERY overrated and VERY VERY over priced. We stayed in the 'pet loop'. The sites are set up rather odd. Typically you have an area on the curb side of your rv for a picnic table etc, but our site had that area BEHIND our motor home. Our site was small, we could not open our awning, was not very private and shrubs separating the sites where thin or missing. There where no shrubs directly behind our site - just a direct view of the main road behind us. The road in the 'pet loop' is VERY narrow with tree limbs over hanging the road that rubbed the roof of our motor home. Backing in a 38 foot motor home is difficult. The in ground trash can made it VERY difficult to back into our site. You won't get treated better anywhere else, after all it is 'Disney'. But with that being said we have been to much nicer campgrounds. Now I can say 'Been there - done that'. We see no need to return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds our family has ever camped at but I feel that what makes the campground so beautiful is the attention to detail from the people who work there. Everyone was very, very helpful and friendly and seemed to take a great deal of pride in their work. One park employee gave us a lift in his golf cart so we would not miss our breakfast reservations when the bus was late to pick us up. The Trails End Restaurant is one of the best in Disney and it is also a good value for a Disney restaurant. Do not miss the nightly parade on the water at 9:45 p.m. or the fireworks show that follows the parade. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Most of the above reviews were very accurate. Some of the loops were very tight and hard to get a large unit into and out of. A 5th wheel in front of us broke out a window on a tree branch trying to drive down their loop. We have a 34ft travel trailer and we could not open both our slides and our awning. The camp ground was not full, so they gave us several different sites to check out and after our 3rd site, we found a great site. For whatever reason, the 1600/1700/1800/1900 loops pads are not level to the ground. The four of us all tripped at least once during our 7 day stay. Over all, Disneys camp ground was a great place. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice campground. We stayed in the 500 loop and it was very quiet. Our site (532) was very hard to back into since it was at a 90 degree angle from the loop. Sites were very clean. Staff was more than helpful. Many activities to do at the campground. Great trails to bike on. Trails End is a great buffet to eat at. Poor circulation in the creeks and lakes made the water green. Used the high speed internet at the campsite for $9.95 a day and it worked fine. We camped here in a Motorhome.

All in all a great campground and the other reviews sum up the good pretty well. But here's my gripe. Disney makes a fortune on this campground and they do a good job with it. However, the loop roads are very narrow and the have many trashcans, site markers, elec. boxes, etc. along the sides of the roads making access to many sites very difficult. During our stay we saw several other folks having a terrible time trying to get into their sites. Disney should spend a few of their millions and make site access easier. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is top notch! Clean, shady campsites with concrete pads as well as a sandy area if you are a tent camper. Restrooms were immaculate! They have a great campfire program with Chip and Dale and a Disney movie each night. Game room, pools and beach activities. There is too much to mention! I would definitely put this park on your place to stay! We will definitely be back and are planning a trip this year. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

Spent a week on a family vacation to hit the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Downtown Disney. Good experience all around and saw everthing from tents to 40' Class A rigs. We were in the 1700 loop (pet loop) and had no problems getting around on the bus, boats, or by truck. We thought about a golf cart, but decided against spending $50 a day for it. Noticed a couple campers showed up and had issues with the utilities layout at some sites. Make sure you have an extra drinking water hose, extra sewer hose, and an electrical hookup extension. Two folks had to move their rigs off the concrete pad just to get the electric connected. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I'm giving this campground a 9 because of the site we were in. Our site seemed to be one of the very few that when you stepped off the concrete slab, there was about a 5-6 inch drop. The sites around us looked as if the slab was even with the ground. This is my only complaint..we had a great time camping here. All cast members were nice & helpful with the exception of 2 bus drivers. I do know next time not to buy tickets for so many days @ the parks because there is alot going on at the campground that we didn't get to on this trip. I highly recommend the HOOP DE DOO REVUE, it was an excellent dinner show. This was everything I expected from Disney and a tad more!! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Of course, a very nice park - all the amenities - sewer, paved pads, 2 pools, nice camp stores, inside-the-park transportation, modern well-maintained bathhouses. I was a little disappointed that the landscaping was not better maintained (nice had it been a state park, but not what I was expecting from Disney). No big deal, this is still the place to camp if you're doing Disney. Take the free boat to and from the Majic Kingdom. We had a great experience. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As noted earlier anyone can find anything wrong with anyplace. I was born in South Florida and lived here for all 37 years, I have stayed at Fort Wilderness 100+ times, however our last few experiences have changed our minds as to where we will be staying. We arrived @ 9pm with no one at the gate to register us, or tell us we needed to come inside, all signs stated pull forward, we were met by security at the first gate who failed to tell us to go inside. 15 minutes of sitting they finally came out and asked us if we wanted to set the camper up in the drive thru! We registered and were supposed to be in the same loop as 5 other campers, guaranteed with an additioal cost to us, didn't happen. We were told to set up our Pop-Up and move in the morning which was unacceptable. They finally decided to give us a cabin which was nice but everything was packed in the Pop-Up. While waiting for this we moved out of the drive thru and watched a man pull his 5th Wheel thru the drive thru. We were standing there with 2 Disney employees as the man drove into a hanging sign putting a hole in the roof of his camper and almost removing his A/C unit. Neither Disney employee said a word, we the guests had to stop him. While there we went to the Trading Post and were followed as though we were common criminals, we confronted the clerk and she acknowledged our complaint. They were tailing my 3 year old daughter. Other than that we had fun! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

We loved it. It is everything you would expect from Disney, extremely clean, extremely friendly, and extremely fun! It is what all campgrounds should aspire to, large, private lots, fabulous service, great entertainment and lots to do! Will definitely go back, it is worth the extra money you pay to stay in Disney! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice stay. Had to leave early due to Hurricane Jeanne. Refund was easy to get. Park was very quiet. Most areas were not open due to damage from 2 other hurricanes. We rented a pontoon boat and they let us keep it for an extra 20 min because it was the end of the day. Just wish they would add a theme pool like the other resorts. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in loop 100 for 10 nights. This is an excellent location nearest to the most of the campground amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed the Hoop-dee-doo Musical Review dinner show and also ate at the Trails End buffet a couple of times (they provided a special Christmas Day meal that was nice). My biggest complaint is the site size and the difficulty in getting in and out of the sites. Also, we paid for cable in a preferred site and did not like the limited channel selection. I would pay for a preferred site again simply for location but would bring my satellite. The Trading Posts (camp stores) were well stocked with Disney stuff and supplies. We noticed that the Disney stuff was more expensive here than in the parks. The pools were nice but not as nice as some of the pools we saw at the other resorts. The comfort stations were well kept. We would definitely stay here again if we were planning on visiting the parks. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our second time to be at Disneyworld, the first time we stayed in an All Star hotel. The campground was awesome and even though you have the cooking and cleaning that comes with camping, we would definitely stay here again as opposed to a hotel. The sites were spacious and wooded. There were 2 stores and a restaurant. There was an outdoor movie theatre, showing disney movies every night. You could ride your bikes to the beach and watch fireworks every night and ferry to and from The Magic Kingdom. There were peacocks that roamed through the campground. There was so much to do that you didn't have time to do it all! We're looking forward to going there again someday. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I've been spoiled! When we arrived we were sent to the new Orleans Resort as the cleanup
from Hurricane Charles was still going on. After 2 days in 2 rooms we were allowed into Ft Wilderness. It was spotless, and remained that way until we left. Everyone was polite, and helped make our stay perfect. Transportation to the MK was excellent, after all that's why we were there. We spent a day at the camp grounds and realized that we could have spent many more, with the bicycling, swimming, beaches, fireworks, water parade, sing-along nightly move we were fully entertained. As I mentioned earlier, the place was spotless, no mosquitoes and we felt totally secure, secure enough not to worry that our grandkids were cycling arouind the loop.Disney, you have just raised the bar in our camping experience, thanks Mickey! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I cannot really say anything that has not already been said. Check in was extremely slow.
Almost 45 minutes and we were only the 3rd rv in line. Our site was a little tricky to get backed into with a 26 foot fifth wheel. If using the Disney transportation, give yourself A LOT of time to travel. Everything was clean and all employees were very friendly. Before you go, find out if Disney is hosting any activities in the campground. They held a Half Triathalon while we were there. Getting around was terrible and they catered to the atheletes' more than the other guests. And yes, I voiced my concern about that to one of the campground supervisors. Wherether it mattered or not. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Disney does campgrounds, what more can you say. This is a perfect way to get the Disney
perks without spending 300 a night for a room. The off season rates are as low as $40 for what is arguably the best campground on the planet. The site we had was room with plenty of room for slides and awning while still having privacy from our neighbor. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Although this is a beautiful campground and offers easy and free transportation to any and
all Disney parks, it was terribly overpriced and didn't really offer any "added value" for the extra high rates. If you like large buses running right thru your campground all day and into the night, no activities (unless you go to any of the Disney parks where they'll hit you up again and again for more money), stale and smelly water, tight narrow campsites (when there's plenty of room to make them easier to navigate), no campfires, and fees for everything including $21 p/day bike rental (we bought one at the local Wal-Mart for $25), $60 p/day golf cart rental (no thanks, we'll walk), and $3 pony rides (at the free petting zoo where I believe we were able to pet one goat), this place is for you. However, if you'd like to enjoy the parks, and actually have a little cash left to spend at the parks, stay down the street and drive your car there. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I guess if you are picky enough, you'll find something wrong with even the best of campgrounds. My stay at Disney's Fort Wilderness has always been excellent. In my opinion, they are THE ONE that others should pattern themselves after! On the 1 to 10 scale, they should have a 15. Camp sites vary in size depending on what you tell them at registration. During Holidays, the campground is themed for your entertainment. Petting zoo and horse back riding for the kids, home of the Whoop-dee-doo revue, a must see. There is a cafeteria style restaurant that serves breakfast lunch and dinner, and all the servers are great and in Disney's spirit of entertainment. Of course there are stores for merchandise and food stuffs, bicycle rentals, carts too, canoeing in the lazy river, pools, camp fires, movies, oh my. At the comfort stations, the showers and pottys are always immaculate as are the laundry areas and they are air conditioned. You can also rent the little boats to play on the lake. Transportation to ANYWHERE DISNEY is available by boat or bus. The buses travel on the main roads, not in the loops so you hardly know they are around. We missed the last bus one evening trying to get back to the camper from The Frontier Lodge. Disney sent a whole bus to pick us up and take us back to Fort Wilderness. Who ever said you can't park a car must have parked their camper in the space wrong. There is ample space in front of a motor home or bus conversions. When asked the largest coach they can handle, they will tell you up to 60'. Used to be 2 steam trains that would take you to the Magic Kingdom, but is now gone. The trail still exists and can be walked on. You can see the railroad ties never removed in some places. Having your own transportation is a big advantage for you but Disney's FREE transportation to EVERYWHERE is ample. Depending on how much you like to be near water at the campsite may influence the time of year you go, rains bring in the wetlands, actually accentuates the look of the CG. And I have NEVER had a problem with mosquitoes here. Campers are always decorating their camper and/or sites, and you should see it around CHRISTMAS. I always bring my two Greyhounds and stay in the PET LOOP. There is a great kennel available at Fort Wilderness and at each of the theme parks if you need (slight charge) and there is a huge dog walk area as well as being able to walk them around the pet loops. They ask you clean up after your pet, and FURNISH the bags to use to pick-up with. Very clean and they recycle everything. Watch for the value seasons and get a deal and call reservations and ask if there are any discounts available besides the new
Disney Visa (10%) on some items. Fort Wilderness is just the start of a great stay when you start going out to the rest of Disney World. I come here as often as I can, what a great place to vacation or just spend some quiet time. Like I said on a scale 1 to 10 Fort Wilderness Resort gets a 15 in my book. Enjoy!! Excellent campground. I am sure there are some better ones out there but this is one
NICE place. All sites paved, well maintained, security controlled, sidewalks , plenty of interior roads to ride golf carts or scooters, jogging trail, pools, 2 stores ( but pricey) , very woodsy. If you tell them in advance that you have a slide-0ut , awning etc, they have a site dimensions map which assists them in making sure that you will fit. For some reason, they don't cut down cetain trees close to the sites which can make it harder to back in or open an awning. We usually ask which sites
are availabale in our favorite loop and than go shopping for a site. As soon as we select it, I just call them and let them know. This has worked well for us although we tend to go in the of season. We were there a couple of years ago when a hurricane came through. They made us evac the campground but let us stay at Port Orleans Resort for the same price as if we were still at the campground !! We just parked our whole rig in the hotel lot. We are annual pass holders and go down twice a year for about a month each time. Bus transportation is regular through the grounds but it can take a while to get to some places ( Animal Kingdom and Downtown Disney were the longest). As a Disney guest , we are entitled to free parking at any theme park or hotel. So we ended up driving our van to a lot of places on property.
We will be going back in Oct 03. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Although many people have raved about this campground, I found it to be only above average. Believe or not, I have stayed at nicer places. For Disney, I would have except a lot more and in fact have received much better service from the staff when I stayed in their hotels. I quess you need to spend $300/night to obtain those services. The sites are clean, but close together. People with large motor homes could not get into some of the sites in the 500 loop (road too narrow to swing). My site was not ready, even though I check in at 1:30 pm (check out 11 am and check in 1 pm). They placed us in parking lot next to the outpost to wait for my site and said someone would come and get me when it was ready. After an hour of waiting and noticing about 30 other units park there, I was wondering how they would fine me. As it turns, I needed to keep checking back until the site was ready and no one was coming to out to get me. When I stayed in their hotels, they stored my bags, brought them to my room etc., and gave me lunch because my room was not ready on time. Once again I quess the $75 dollars/night fee does not rate. You can not drive from one spot to another in the RV park because there is no car parking, but for an additional $40/day you to can be one of the 100's of family on a golf cart. Another nice way of exorting money from you. The only advantages of staying here versus in some of the newer RV parks in Orlando is the bus transportation throughout the Disney complex, that you can make reservations directly for dining etc., and you enter the park of day one hour earlier than the general public. This is our favorite campground anywhere! If you love Disney and camping this puts it altogether. It also allows famlies to get the full Disney experience at a price that you can afford. Spotless bathrooms that are air conditioned. Pleasant staff. Purchases made in the parks can be sent back to the Fort to be picked up later. A Disney boat and bus that haul you where you need to go. No driving your car! Nighttime singalongs, hotdogs, and outdoor Disney movies for kids. Arcades and a huge pool, biking trails and horseback riding, petting zoo. At night the parade on the water comes right by the campground. Wow! We love it. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Were at campsite 417 in the preferred section of the park from April 26 to May 6. Very nice site. It was near all conveniences. Our 33 ft. motorhome fit nicely on the site with plenty of room for our awning. Behind it was a large area that we used for sunbathing etc. Much wildlife, very neat and clean. Many things to do at the campgrounds. MK transportation is by boat only. Other destinations are by bus. We had to take 2 busses (one to the Settlement and one to the destination). Very nice campground. Grocery prices are high. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Just to balance all of the happy Mickey campers - Yeah, the place is nice if you are looking at the bathrooms, store, restaurant, planned activities, etc. However, the actual campsites are built-up and boxed-in squares on top of marsh. Sites are so small that you won't have barely have enough room for a slide on one side and an awning on the other side. We'll be back because it's Disney and nothing beats walking to the dock to catch a boat to the Magic Kindom, but it could be SO much better. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a perfect way to get around Disney at a fair price. We stood in off season and paid only $47/nigh. We last camped at Ft. Wilderness in 1989 and paid $33/night. Only a $14/night increase in 13 years. Not bad! The site we had was a little tight to get into but once in, there was plenty of room. You cannot beat this CG for the convenience. There was a mosquito problem that kept us from sitting out at night. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I rated Fort Wilderness so low because of a lack of Disney security's response to my call
about a pervert watching me shower in the women's comfort station. I wanted to warn others that when you call 911 from the bathhouse phone you will be connected to security - not the sheriff's department - and that they take their time responding. It took the campground security over an hour to respond to my call while I sat outside the comfort station naked, in only a towel, with two women who happened to be walking by and were kind enough to sit with me. These two women saw the man leaving the bathhouse. I asked the Disney manager, when she finally showed up, if they had taken the women's names and info and she said yes. I found out later that they did not, but thankfully I did. We also found out later that Disney did not even make out a report but, thankfully again, we had Orange County come out to make a report. I am very concerned that this man cound have been in there waiting for a child. He was hanging over the top of the shower stall and I saw him when I turned to rinse my hair. I can back up everything I've said. Anyway - their security is a big fat joke. Watch your children carefully. This incident took place at about 3 o'clock on a Sunday afternoon. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed in the pet loop. Staff went out of their way to make you feel like "royalty". We had a problem with our 1 year old 5th wheel's air conditioner. The maintanence staff brought us a ladder, and offered other helpful tools. My husband had his own. While sitting outside reading, a worker driving by stopped and gave me some Disney World bookmarkers. Store is well stocked and lots of activities for kids: bonfire, sing-a-long, etc. Site was large enough to accommodate a slideout on one side and our awning on the other. Disney buses ran throughout the campground's main roads. Packages purchased in the parks are deliverable to the campground. We have stayed here several times, each better than the last. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

(Orlando area) The perfect campground. The sites are designed to make you feel like you are in the middle of the woods all by yourself, but yet everything is close by if you want it. Staying here makes you a guest of Walt Disney World with all the perks, i.e. free transportation, extra time in the park, discounts on admission, etc. Must experience this one for yourself, too much to mention on this site, could write pages of the great things about the campground We camped here in a camper.
