Rate is for a waterfront site ($5 more). Great water views, although some are limited by mangrove trees, as indicated on the campground map. Camp fee includes admission to the entire park. The North Beach is the best feature - white sand and clear, warm water, and only a few people on the mid-week days we were there. Sites are level, well-shaded, and somewhat separated from neighboring sites by the heavy vegetation. Sand is plentiful, but you're on the water, so it comes with the territory. A hand vac by the entrance minimized the problem. Restroom/bathouse was clean and also had washer ($1.00) & dryer ($.75). Staff was friendly and efficient. Camp store had the basic necessities and serves ice cream! Bring lots of quarters for the bridge tolls ($.75 & $.50) that you encounter getting to the park. AT&T cell phone service was good. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The campground is absolutely beautiful, many with water views, egrets walking through the campsites, and dolphins swimming by. It is well kept and the sites are very wooded, sometimes you can't even see the rig next door. The heavy growth may make getting into the site a little rough for some less experienced drivers especially those that have to back a large fifth wheel on a curve. If you want to get satellite, it may be all but impossible. I picked a site that I could put my portable dish by the water. The roads do need work as they have a lot of potholes. Some of the sites are narrow, but the length makes up for it. The beach is a bit of a drive, so don't plan on walking or biking to it. Water view sites are a little more expensive than the interior sites. They have a separate pet campground. The pad and sites are gravel/sand and are level. We would have stayed longer but weekends are difficult to get unless you make reservations months in advance. Wish it had sewer. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful campground in a great county park on a group of connected islands at the mouth of Tampa Bay. It is difficult to get reservations but a percentage of sites are kept available for walkups. On a Tuesday morning we were third in line 2 hours before the office opened and had our pick of a couple of "pet" sites. There is seven miles of paved recreational trail suitable for rollerblading, casual cycling, or walking. There is also a great dog park with an adjacent stretch of white sand beach for the canines. We camped here in a Motorhome.
