I didn't know BLM could have such a nice CG. Large, level, paved sites with electric and water at each site. No trees to give shade but some sites have sheltered tables. The views of the lake are spectacular. There is a boat ramp that gets a lot of use but the lake has very few boats on it. Verizon is on extended network but works well with our amp. The dump station has a $5 fee even for campers. We stayed for 5 days and enjoyed every one of them. The small town of Mackay has a very old rundown laundry, a small grocery, and a couple of bars and restaurants. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a BLM campground located on the McKay Reservoir near McKay, Idaho. The place appears recently renovated or redesigned. Quiet, away from any major towns; the nearest was tiny McKay a few miles south. Plenty of stars at night. A beautiful reservoir for swimming, fishing, boating, etc. On Highway 93 in the plateau of southern Idaho. Craters of the Moon is less than an hour away. Beautiful peaks to the east. Pit toilets and no showers, but electricity and water are available, as well as a dump station. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
