I've got to say I've not been in a more scary park than this in quite a while! There are several full time residents mostly in broken down rigs including one old school bus with boarded up windows and duct tape everywhere. There are satellite dishes nailed to the trees at empty sites that are not functional for one reason or another, they've just been abandoned by their owners. The place is littered with cigs and debris and just gives you a creepy feeling (per wife and son). The road to this place is VERY narrow and windy: we almost dropped the trailer off the edge a couple times when cars/trucks came the other way. The entrance road is STEEP, as soon as you turn off the paved road you drop down into a bowl of sorts where this "campground" is located. Took every bit of torque my Duramax had to get the trailer back up to the paved road when we left. The owner was nice enough and informed me that after this month he's pulling out of Passport America so it'll be $24 a night. I would be afraid to leave my rig to go anywhere, so we left. Unless you've really, really got to have a cheap site, I'd not suggest this one. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice but small campground next to a stream with a view of small falls. The owners are friendly and put money back into the campground yearly. The sites are level and the bathrooms are very clean. A nice place to retreat and relax, esp. in the evening with the sound of the falls on the rocks. Good fishing in the stream also. Just be careful if you decide to get into the water and wear watersocks or shoes because there is a lot of broken glass around. The only other problem we have with the campground is that it is not paved. There are also nice cabins there for rent and yearly camper storage available. This campground is also near Yatesville Lake. It is actually closer to the lake marina than Yatesville Lake State Park is. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a nice and clean campground with wide sites that offer privacy. We did find it not to be real child friendly. There are no activities for children except one playground, which is okay. The problem we have is that with small children we like to be close to the playground and there are NO sites even within sight of it. The bathhouses are clean but the showers are very aggravating. The way they operate is by pushing the knob and the water runs for 2 minutes or so and then goes off and needs pushed again. By the time the water is beginning to get warm it goes off again. I like to froze to death in there. For that, we will never camp there again. We keep our pontoon boat at the marina there and have found it to be closer to stay at The Falls Campground. The state park campground is quite a distance from the marina. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very new campground with paved interior roads. The bathrooms are very big and clean. The sites are big and scenic. They have a big man made lake with fishing and a marina. Tent sites are either boat in or walk in. The RV sites are paved with a gravel patio. A few sites are double sites so they can fit 2 campers on one site. All the campsites back up to the woods. The park owned golf course is amazing. Brand new! In this golf course it takes 45 minutes to drive around it. Basically you are playing golf in the mountains. The price is very good for a professional course. Would come back again! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
