Nice family campground located in Ellsworth. Full hookup 50 AMP, water, sewer, and cable sites that were nicely maintained and level. Park is very treed with a state park feel to it. On site owners that are helpful and friendly. We stayed a few days here while waiting for a new refrigerator for our unit. The park was recommended to us by Ellsworth RV as it was near the shop. They are great to work with. The only negative to this the park was that it was a little off the beaten path if you were in the area to sight see Acadia. There are several seasonal sites, but they were all very neatly maintained. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

New ownership as of August 2012 and improvements are ongoing. New husband/wife owners are "hands-on" managers who are on the property all day every day. Gravel interior roads and parking areas with grassy sites. Each site has a picnic table and fire-ring. Some sites are in shade, some in sun. Far enough off the road to be quiet but conveniently located a mile or so from downtown Ellsworth. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our first visit to Forest Ridge was an accident, quite literally. We had reservations at the KOA on Mt. Desert Island, but cancelled due to a blow out on our way. After a tire change, we found a great RV mechanic in Ellsworth who got us patched together and ordered a couple of parts to repair us fully. So we decided to stick close by. He suggested Forest Ridge, and we can't thank him enough. Host took great care of us. We had full hookup (including cable TV with NESN- a must for us Sox fans) and a nice shady spot. For those of you who prefer the open space for a satellite, they have those too. The Wi-Fi worked fine. It wasn't super fast or super slow, but we had a smoking signal on the Verizon card and LTE on AT&T so we hardly attached to the Wi-Fi. We had a nice picnic table and a fire ring. The sites were not huge, but quite large for the area. Almost, if not all of the sites were full hookup and pull-through. This campground is quiet, especially at night. They are pretty particular about it, and we loved that. We loved everything about this place. We loved it so much, we extended our time to 2 weeks and are already scheming how to come back for our second visit and make it a season. We are resisting the urge to rank this place low so no one finds this gem. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Quiet campground nestled in the trees with very friendly and accommodating staff. Close proximity to shopping and 18 miles from Acadia NP and all it has to offer. Great value for the area and is the perfect home-base for a long-term stay. Would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We had some friends visit this CG and experienced the same as we did two years ago. The dust has turned to "pot holes", the young children still run the office check-in, the owner only available when problems. Our friends did not want to write to this RV Review: just kiss off this place but, their attitude in the way we were treated left such a bad taste in our mouth we had to write on their behalf. If you are looking for CG in that area: go 3 miles further and look in Trenton, Me area. The stress level will be much better than Hospitality. This CG needs to "sell out" and let someone with interest run it! We and our friends will NEVER stay here again !!! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Hospitality Woods: Sounds inviting doesn’t it? Images of kindly retired couples passing out cookies and cocoa to the weary travelers comes to mind. What we found is possibly the crankiest RV Park in the lower 48 states! When we arrived at about 3:00PM the office was closed. There was a chalk board that instructed you to slip cash in the mail slot or write down your credit card number and expiration date and slip it under the door. We came to learn that the office/store is closed most of the time. My wife goes up to the office door to get a camp map and is greeted by a young kid and big ole dog. The dog doesn’t like my wife. The dog starts barking and circling her. I fumble for my pepper spray and grab the dog dootie bags by mistake. I would be useless if this was a bad guy I was confronting. I finally grab the pepper spray, leap (sort of) from the truck, and run (gimp) to my bride’s rescue. The dog left before I got there, trotting happily after his mistress, tail high. What we found is what was a once nice campground, gone to seed. The sites were nice sized, with full hookups, although there was a hand written note that said the cable TV didn’t work in the park. This was no doubt because the park is letting in riff raff such as us, at half price. A posting on the window says: "We offer discounts as a courtesy. We set the rules and you have them in your membership books. If they are not good enough for you, then you can go elsewhere. If you are unable to pay our low rates, here is the number of the welfare office." That was just a small sample. We make our way to a site at the back of the park, with no neighbors to bother us. The site was not mowed and full of weeds, but it was level and we were happy to get stopped for a couple of nights. I set up the satellite dish and we are good to go. After we get set up, I sit down and read the “rule sheet” for Hospitality Woods. Without any exaggeration, there were 30 rules and regulations that filled the page from top to bottom! Examples would be “If you plug into a 50 amp by mistake, even if you have a 30 amp rig YOU WILL BE CHARGED! My favorite was “NO REFUNDS FOR SHORTENED STAYS, PLEASE DON’T ASK” I guess that more than one camper found the campground less than optimum. I find it ironic that a campground hates campers. Oh well, we are here for 2 days and we are out sight seeing for most of the time. This is where Hospitality Woods shows just how inhospitable they really can be. Hoses are hooked up and I pull the valve on the BLACK water tank. Remember, black water is the stuff that goes down the toilet. Things start dumping as normal when all at once, the park’s sewer system plugs up. I’ve now fertilized the weeds in Hospitality Woods. Oh the humanity. This was the most disgusting sewer dumping event in my history. I’m gagging and choking, trying to water down the mess to at least thin it out. For the next 30 minutes I am trying to clean out my hoses and wash up the mess. I finally get things put up and away. I go in the rig and wash up. Yuck I understand the trials and tribulations and expense of running a campground, but if you hate the job or the campers, perhaps a different line of work is in order! This place has potential, but under the current management I wouldn't hold my breath. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

A nice quiet park. We had a pull thru which was fairly level. Not perfect, but not bad. We also thought the water pressure was so-so. The WiFi for me worked great. The potholes in the entrance/exit road were horrible. When we were here, the owner was only around part-time, very difficult to contact. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Owners still need to take care of the potholes. Water pressure was so-so. But electric was great. Nice quiet place. Free Wi-Fi could get at the trailer. Easy in and easy out. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

The good news: campground is quiet as it is well off US 1. It is located very close to Ellsworth, and fairly close to Mt. Desert Island, and Bar Harbor. Voltage & water pressure were good. Most sites are long and wide. The family running the campground is friendly. Compared to other campgrounds in the area, it is a good value. The bad news: sites are not very level, with many sites having a distinct slope at the front. Dumpsters are allowed to overflow for days at a time. Interior roads are full of potholes. WiFi, while free, is very slow, with many outages. No cable, and satellite reception is iffy. We would return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is our 4th visit to this peaceful campground. The things that keep us coming back are it's large campsites, proximity to Ellsworth's shopping and dining, and minimal highway noise. For some unfathomable reason, it's never crowded, a huge bonus point. Acadia is just a quick half-hour ride, and Schoodic just a tad further. We took advantage of a rainy morning yesterday in order to do laundry. Clean well-lit modern machines, even an iron and board were available. The wireless never failed... using it now to write this. And on the negative side; my pet peeve. Off level RV parking. This site was a 2 board site.. This was offset by the spacious, grassy area. ...we'll be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a good park for those of us who like quiet rural settings, with large open or shaded sites, no obvious seasonal campers, no planned activities, no highly manicured grounds, and a state park type setting. Our German Shepherd Dog is welcome, and there is plenty of room to take her for walks. For those of us who have too large an RV for many state park settings, but still like that type of camping, this is a great alternative. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The campground itself is very good. All sites are pull through and are all full hookup sites. There are back in sites, but those are seasonal sites. The campground has problems though. The grounds needed better upkeep, as the sites were not mowed,nor cleaned after check out. Conditions that should be corrected. The campground could also use some additional lighting within the site area. After dark the only lighting is the outside light at the restrooms. The restroom/shower area was in need of clothes hooks. Have to agree with a previous posting as to the attitudes of the owners towards the RVing public. We were there at the same time the repairs were being made to the campground. It was not pleasant. We also had problems with reservations that were made for or by some friends, this occurred not once but twice during our stay. Their motto, "Where everyone is treated like family", is a misnomer, but then they may treat their family the same. The bad attitudes are going to cost them in lost sales. We had used this campground three years in a row for our yearly vacation to the State of Maine, but for 2005 we chose to spend our money elsewhere. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The RV Park was under repair from recent rains, no cable as advertised), and very dusty/dirt interior roads. We were assigned a spot under trees and could not get our SAT Dish to work and asked for a higher site. This was approved but, after hook-up we found the "septic" was full and backed up...after reporting to the owner, (The Mrs) suggested we were too demanding and go to the local "Wal-Mart". Almost did but they had our money so we stayed and avoided further contact. "Dusty dirt roads" and the "under construction" could have been supported, but the "attitude" of the owner was unreal! Suggest this CG be avoided and seek other's in the Ellsworth area (we went to Timberland Acres RV Park, Trenton, Me...only 3 miles away), nice and enjoyable. Maine is beautiful, to bad the Hospitality Woods RV Park made our trip unforgetable for that area. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a wonderful little campground where the couple who own it and their three sons toil day and night to make it outstanding. It doesn't have the glitz and glamour of Bar Harbor, but has very level sites, well-stoned, and is near all the attractions. You will like it. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park is new and part of it is still under construction. Interior roads were very dusty. Sites were great - long, wide and level. Looks like some sites will have instant phones. Good office modem location. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here in a 40' motorhome for $13 a night for two nights in site #60 with a very nice view of the water directly across from Mount Desert Island where Bar Harbor and Acadia NP are located. Be aware the sites are not level and most are surrounded by dense trees Sites 1, 2 & 3 are nice open sites big enough for large rigs. Note: there is no electric here and no dump station. There are water spigots some of which are accessible from your site to fill your water tank. This is the only alternative for larger rigs to stay in the Bar Harbor unless you want to spend an "arm and a leg" to stay in an "RV park" for from about $40 to more than $100 a night. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A great Maine State Park ( no electricity ). It is on Frenchman’s Bay and some of the sites have water views but there are hiking trails all along the edge of the Bay. Where else can you have lobsters delivered by a local fisherman delivered to your site for $6. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is one of my favorite Maine State Parks. The campsites (62) are wooded and some in an open area. There are hot showers but no utilities. It is on Frenchman's Bay across from Mt. Desert Island. The views are beautiful and some sites look out to the Bay and all are in walking distance. Some of the sites slope down hill, so one needs to check out the sites but most are fine. Most sites are backins. There are hiking trails around the park, a boating and dock section, picnic area and a swimming beach just down the road. The sunsets are beautiful here. If you go down to the docks in the early evening you might be able to buy clams and lobsters right from the fishermen just coming in from their day's catch. This park is in a busy area in the summer between Ellsworth (ten minutes away) and Bar Harbor (20 minutes away) and Acadia National Park (20 minutes). Yet, if you stay here it is peaceful, beautiful and very relaxing. It is also close to the other Acadia (Schoodic P). It is only open between the end of May and about October 15. You can make reservations for 2 or more nights on weekends and 1 or more nights from Sunday through Thursday. There is a playground in the picnic area. Nice campground! FIRST THE GOOD: Quiet at night in the upper level, a bit noiser in the lower level where there is a nice playground for the kids and lots of seasonals. Sites, at least in the upper level where we stayed, were roomy and pretty level. The "pond" which is really a lake, is beautiful, clear and warm enough for swimming. The sound of the loons at night is wonderful. Free showers. The shower rooms are cubicles that lock and are clean. Cable is OK. NOW THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Signage could be better; it's easy to miss from the highway and it's hard to find a place to turn around. Then you drive down a heavily wash boarded gravel road about a half mile that's guaranteed to shake your fillings loose. You're charged a $3 "resort fee" - why? This isn't a resort. "Resorts" have a pool - there isn't a pool. "Rec Room" is locked a lot during posted open hours. Office has short hours during the week. Not much in the store and personnel aren't particularly helpful. The pull through sites aren't very long and there are large boulders you have to be careful of when pulling in and out. The laundry room is small and hot and two of the five washers were out of order the entire time we were there: machines are expensive for their quality. Nothing is near - you have to go into Ellsworth to get anything, about eight miles. Poor water pressure. Wi-fi doesn't reach far from the office. We would probably try one of the resorts nearer Bar Harbor if we come back again. I don't think we'd stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a well-kept park with comfortable sites. We arrived after-hours and were escorted to the site by the resident manager. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Laundry room was clean and well kept. We did not use bath/shower-rooms. We weathered Hurricane Irene here with minimum inconvenience. We spent 3 weeks and would stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Except it is "Patten" Pond. Wide open sites to wooded depending on what you want. We camped up top in an open site with room for slide outs and awnings. It can be noisy on weekends but during the week is quiet. Tries to do it all and reminds me of a KOA run campground: kids areas, tent areas, seasonal area, big RV area and even has cabins. I would stay here again if I ever get back this way. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We were during off season so was very quiet. The rate cited is for Coast to Coast members. Sites are tight for larger rigs. Huge boulders marking sites and some large trees make it difficult to back in and make swing on way out. We found the bathrooms to be reasonably clean but not spotless. Showers need some attention but were very usable, good hot water and water pressure. It seems that at the end of the season all places neglect showers a bit. There are many seasonals but the place appears to be well kept. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped here for the last 5 years and enjoyed our stay. CG is around 40 minutes to Acadia NP, but was worth the commute, NOT ANYMORE!!! We had booked our site in April and asked for a specific site, they said it was booked and we moved on, but while there the site we requested was never full. When we arrived, pouring rain on Sunday afternoon, we were never told about a "Boil Water Order" that was in place. Went to use the restroom after waiting an hour for the rain to slow, noticed the order, went to the office which was closed (only open 8-5) and got the attention of the woman still in the office. After finally getting her to open the door, was greeted rudely with "I have been using it all week and my dog has been drinking it, everything is FINE!" We actually spoke to someone who had called earlier in the day to inquire about a site and they were never told about the notice as well. They checked in after 5pm and had a sheet of paper notifying them about the notice, but no verbal notice when calling that day. We decided we would still give it a chance until I decided to take a shower at the CG facilities and it wasn't terrible until the hot water ran out after approx 4 minutes of a shower. Had to finish in ice cold water. As stated earlier, we camped here the last five years and really enjoyed it but we will not be going back. Over this last off season it was bought out by a Corporation and is not worth the time. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are generally tight. We stayed on site 435 (a pull-thru) and not enough room to put our awning down. Campground is 9 miles West of Ellsworth and about 30 minutes+ from Bar Harborn. Very quiet. Beach is rocky. They have boats for rent and dockage. All gravel roads- many trees- small sites with grass. Cable TV is free. WiFi cost $4.95 a day. Would stay here again, but would need a larger site??? We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
