Tips from campers about Palo, MI

    • rsegler GTNP is awe inspiring. I backpacked around the peaks for 5 days in 1983 and it was fabulous to revisit the experience without the backpack. The viewpoint from Ansel Adams' famous photo is worth visiting. The National Museum of Wildlife Art is amazing. See the Dambo giant troll sculpture in the "R Park" in Wilson. Do the Jenny Lake Shuttle and hike to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point. Do a whitewater or float trip. We did the Dave Hanson Scenic Float Trip which was excellent, but I was slightly disappointed because I thought it would launch at Moose with a more direct view of "the peaks". The dinner theatre at the Jackson Hole Playhouse was entertaining but pricey. Pro tip: We chose the trout but had fun watching the wide-eyed surprise of people who ordered the HUGE lamb shank. Ice cream at Jackson Drugs was good but pricey. Pretty much everything in Jackson is pricey. Expect heavy traffic, crowds, and parking challenges in Jackson. Relax. Take some deep breaths of mountain air. Better yettour Jackson briefly and then explore the NP where, fair warning, there will still be crowds and parking challenges.
    • Pmlaube Horseback riding in the Tetons was amazing with several creek crossings and incredible views. The Cowboy restaurant was very good.
    • Rich Presco Easy walk to everything down town.
