After 35 years of RV'ing, we had our very first, really bad experience here. We have stayed here in the past so I suspect a recent ownership change. We were in town for Cruisin' The Coast Car Show and this was the only park with sites available so we made the reservation. Upon arrival we were told we were assigned to the back campground. The site was overgrown with tall grass and the ground was extremely soft. An employee assisted us in pulling into the site where we started to sink into the mud. I was able to back up onto some gravel before getting stuck. Water was standing on the site in the tall grass and the ground was mushy. Son-in-law came for supper in his classic car and parked with about 2 feet of his car on the weeds. Just as we were setting down to eat (inside due to mosquitoes) a man came walking onto the site and immediately began to insult me and my son-in-law about parking on the grass. He then ordered us to leave immediately calling us stupid for not being able to read his rules. He then stated no body would get refunds, "Just get out". He then began to rant about the tire marks from where we had pulled on the site (at the direction of his employee). He then said all we had to do was move the car which we did, and then he left. Several other campers had witnessed this happen and came over and said he had done the same thing to several of them as well. We did leave the following morning and just barely made it out of this mud hole. Avoid this place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a convenient campground for those that want to stay the night or for those that have other things to do. It's not a place for the family to have fun unless the fun is outside of the campground. Although it is across the street from a Love's truck stop, the traffic and noise was not a bother to me. The grounds were well kept. We did not use the laundry or bathhouse. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The graphic artist who designed their rack card is really good. I didn't see anything that looked anything like the pictures shown except for the office building. Garbage was left on our picnic table presumably by the previous night's tenant. It was still there when we left the next day. We asked about the shower house and were told it was locked permanently because people made messes. My husband was instructed to use his own trailer facilities. Most of the sites are permanents and there are only about 6 pull thrus for overnighters. Any longer than that and you would need to have your head examined. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a small campground that is really only suitable as an overnight stop. It is next to a Love's gas station so there is truck noise all night. While the washrooms are clean (family style), they were locked from 8:00pm until 9:00am which we found very frustating. When I asked the lady why she said it was "for my safety". I couldn't figure that one out. The campground advertises cable, but the owner said the cable hasn't worked in many of the sites since the hurricane. There were a lot of FEMA trailers nearby. I believe in giving owners some slack while they recover but open washrooms seems like a simple thing. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The rates were elevated from their published rates during the months following the hurricane while their service was diminished. The restrooms were kept locked and there were no dumpsters, campers were directed to use a neighboring FEMA park's dumpsters, Bayberry got dumpsters for their campers' use when FEMA locked the access to their dumpsters. The owner of the park is a friendly sort but their employee is unbelievably rude. The location leaves quite a bit to be desired as the dumpsters at the neighboring truck stop are emptied at 2:30 am every morning and the truck stop and highway noise can be heard non stop. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice overnight park near the interstate and convenient to Flying J and Love's. A little noisy from the truck traffic but very well ran and clean. The site we had cable TV hookup did not work. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is new , clean, and a nice place to spend some time. Roads are blacktop and sites are cement. Full hookup's cable TV and phone service. Site is next to a Love's truck fuel center and I-10 so you have some road noise. Staff was nice at check in. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Camped for one night on our way home. Just OK. A really old park with unlevel gravel pads and pretty hard to get into some of the back in sites. Bath house was old, and although we didn't use it, seemed ok. Lots of long term older trailers here that look like people leave them all year but only use them on weekends. Manager was VERY nice however. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Close maneuvering, site not really level, we had midnight visitor camper next to us for about an hour for whatever reason. Whether we would stay here again is questionable. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very friendly people, sites are close, very shady with large trees. Some tight turns depending on where people park cars, most sites have long term guests. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Friendly, we stayed three nights. Site was concrete and level with no problems for our Motorhome. No discount for Good Sam Club. Close access to Gulf, shopping and golf. We would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Stayed 2 nights at this park. Everything seemed to be well kept. Has some long-term sites still from the hurricane. Staff were friendly, and only problem we had was finding the dumpster seems they have it back where the caretaker or owner lives. You can't pull back there while hooked up. It does need some TLC as things seem to be well used (sewer caps missing). I would stay again. The photos on the web site need updating but they are not far off. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent CG with friendly owner and other. Had an air problem on diesel and they found me a superb service which quickly fixed our problem. Passport, good sam, etc. Excellent cable and WiFi. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Our RV Group camped here for a rally. The owner was very nice and helpful. The campground was near the interstate so there was some noise which didn't bother us. The sites we had were all pull through with FHU 30/50 amp and included was Wi-Fi and Cable TV. The electricity was good. Both Verizon and AT&T Cell Service good. We would definitely camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed 1 night in this park during a cross country drive. We do not understand the issues that others have posted about the incline/decline. There is a very small slope in and out of each individual site, which was no problem at all for our 35' class A with toad. The advantage of the small slope is that when it rains, water does not pool in the grass around your site! Everything was very clean, and worked great. Did not try the Wi-Fi or cable or amenities. Office staff was great! We came in after hours and she came out immediately when we pulled in to greet us and sign us in. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Basic stop over campground. If you have a tow vehicle, there is a lot of restaurants and shopping nearby. Stable power. Large cable selection. Unfortunately, it is right on the I-10, a lot of traffic noise, as well as plane noise. Would stay again if driving through. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice woman checked us in from her trailer. Suggested a pull-thru site for us and showed it on map. As previously explained, you need to go up a ramp to get to the level concrete site and down a lopsided ramp to get out. We managed with a 44 foot motorhome and toad, but very slowly. Okay place for overnight, but wouldn't stay here longer. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice campgrounds, paved pull-through sites. Good Wi-Fi and cable. Everything you want. Gave it an 8 because of road noise. Its next to the freeway. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We drove in by mistake as we were headed next door to Southern Oaks a PA park. Owner came out and told us where we were, but also said he would give us a discount for being PA and said $21.50 for FHU with cable TV and Wi-Fi. We had a site assigned at Southern Oaks as it was Sunday morning so we headed there, that site had serious tree problems for a MH with slides so we went back to CG of the S. OK for short stays, good hookups and as mentioned just watch the ramp into and out of the site as they are fairly sharp. The Laundry room was very nice and the owner great. We would stop again if passing by. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Difficult to find on 2-lane road off I-10. Street winds back around to beside I-10 with constant traffic noise. Shut the doors and turn on the TV: the noise will be less noticable. Clean park, level concrete pads, be aware you will need to go up ramp to pad and back down again: tricky with toad and 38' rig, but made it slowly. Cable TV was great, Wi-Fi was a little bit of a challenge to access but once on, no problem. CASH ONLY! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed for Cruisin the Coast, and the park was very accommodating for all the car trailers that were here. Park is very clean and well manicured. Pet friendly but did not have a designated walking area. Office help got us parked but we did not need to interact with them the rest of our 10 night stay. We will be back next year. Some I-10 traffic noise but tolerable. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Positive: Clean bathrooms and close to downtown Gulfport. Other than that there isn't much good to say about the park. It rained the weekend we were there and there was standing water everywhere. Just a concrete lot that seems a little seedy. Office isn't open regular hours, but the guy who worked there was very helpful when we could catch him in. Nothing for kids to do there. I probably would not go back there. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

It was the worst welcome we ever had, and we have traveled throughout the 48 continental states and 9 out of 10 Canadian provinces. Nobody is at the office. We wait and a lady was coming from her 5th wheel trailer. We had made a reservation the day before with a gentleman and had said we were to had a pull through. Well, the lady said there was none, just a back up and it was very just barely long enough for our motor home. After insisting a lot, she finally gave us a pull through. I asked her if I can access Internet Wi-Fi at the site and she said yes. I tried it once we were there, and I it asked me for a member name and password. Why didn't she tell me? I go to her RV and a gentleman is sat on the porch. He says: "What do you want", on a very impolite tone. I explain I was needing member name & password for internet access. He goes inside and after waiting a very long time, he comes out with the instructions on a paper. I had my internet at last. An other thing: she accepted cash only and never agree to give me any receipt. I had rented for 2 days. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Mostly full-time people living there. Sites are long. Office is rarely open. Stray cats will welcome you. Bathrooms and showers were pretty clean. Right along Interstate. Grass overgrown in some areas. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Cash or check only - no credit cards. Fairly well maintained park with many long term. Pull thru sites are extra long, and can handle 45' without problem. Corners are a bit snug with poorly placed sign poles that intrude when turning some corners. In view of I-10 traffic and it is constant noise. Was able to shut it out somewhat with closing windows but it still intruded on the sleep. Flying J is only about 5 miles west. Will definitely consider as a future stopover. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Good place for an overnight. Very accessible from I-10 and large shopping mall close. Traffic noise may bother some. Grounds well kept and pull-throughs concrete. WiFi and cable TV worked well. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Since Hurricane Katrina most RV parks in the area that survived the hurricane were overcrowded and messy due to FEMA trailers. However, this RV Park is maintaining order and cleanliness. Kudos to the management for operating successfully under difficult situations. The sites are a little close together but satisfactory. I would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

It's true that campers come in all shapes, sizes, and preferences, but I have to say I'm not sure why anyone would give this place a "9." There are a few anemic trees that by no stretch of the imagination could be called "shade." There is a small patch of grass between sites, but not a picnic table to be had. The bathrooms and showers are ok, but I didn't plan on spending much time there, so that didn't make up for the lack of facilities. There is constant noise from the highway at night, and from the airport during the day. And it's one of the very few campgrounds I have been to that does not take credit cards. If a campground with trees, landscaping, trash pickup, swimming pool, playground, propane, picnic tables, grills, etc. is a "9", then I would say giving this one a "5" is very generous. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Spent over two months on site and rate it high for service and feeling welcome. Camp Hosts very helpful and always available. Close to shopping center, and down town area. Only down side would be occasional low flying jet traffic. Surveyed the other campgrounds in the area and found this to be the best and most secure of them all. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Excellent new park, very good access and friendly helpful owners. Within short walk to shopping and restaurants. Would definitely stay again. We camped here in a camper.

This is a great park about a mile off I-10 and about the same distance from all the shopping and restaurants you can possibly want. The streets are paved, the sites are all concrete, the place is clean, tidy and well looked after. You can hear the highway noise in the background but it wasn't a factor for us. The only problem we encountered was with the Wi-Fi. It's free but it's a challenge to get it to work. When you sign in you get a password and seven pages of instructions. After numerous phone calls to the office for new passwords and two late evening visits to our RV by the manager, we finally got it to work. The $20 was the Passport America rate We camped here in a Motorhome.

We would have rated this park a 10, but the interstate noise was just horrible, and it was constant. Because our space had at one time been for a trailer (or mobile home), it was extremely wide. The concrete pad was very narrow, but that was not a problem. The man who led us to our sight was very nice and so willing to help make our stay pleasant. The office person was ditzy. As the owner eliminates the old trailers and converts the spots to RV sites, this will be a very nice park. It was very clean and the people living there were quiet. It is not too far to drive anywhere we wanted to go including the casinos. Only the road noise was really bad. In spite of that we would probably stay here again in the future. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was such a great place to stay, we decided to extend our stay for an entire week ($120 plus one free night). The manager and his staff work hard to make sure that you are happy. We will definitely stay here when we are in the Gulfport area again. They are working on a new laundry area but as someone said, the one directly across the street is clean, convenient, and does the job quite well. Everything you want is close by. We had an electrical problem one night; the manager hooked us up with a local to help us who lives in the park and the next day we were able to drive to an RV repair shop and get a repair to the inverter (total cost $150). This park is close to the interstate but in no way are you bothered by noise, etc. Airport is also close by but again, no bother to us. Clean, nice roads, nice sites...very nice place to stay for overnight or longer!! The manager is the best! We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate is daily rate for FHU 50 amp pull thru site with PA discount. Roads and pads were paved, but as mentioned in other reviews, watch out for the speed bumps. Grass areas between wide open sites. Good satellite and Verizon cell and 3G reception. Away from the Interstate so it is quiet, yet there is an abundance of great shopping nearby making it a great place to either do a little R&R, or get your shopping fix. Yes there are mobile homes in the park which is slowly being converted into an RV park, but all are in good condition, with the area around each clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park is in a great location, just off the interstate, although there was no problem with noise. It is a mobile home park being converted to an RV park. Very clean, well kept park. We had a very long pull through site and there was no need to disconnect our toad. The manager of the park is retired Navy and gives a discount to military, park is also PA. Friendliest manager we have seen in a long time, and is very concerned that you are happy with the park. We had a little trouble with the Wi-Fi, but when we could connect the speed was fine. We would stay here if in this area again. Very close to about any store or restaurant you could want. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As another poster commented: don't turn too soon into the "other" RV park. You probably won't like it. We originally checked in for two nights but extended one day because of weather. The park is family owned and managed and the owner is a former Navy SeaBee Chief and runs a tight organization. John Q and company are really nice people and we enjoyed our stay. They appear to be doing a lot of updating and our site was a long, pull-through, concrete pad and was easy in and easy out. This is a Passport America park and the $20 rate was perfect. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a mobile home community with RV sites. As the mobile homes move out, those sites are being converted into RV sites. The RV sites are nice and big, level concrete pull throughs and back ins. They are all full hook-up sites with cable. There are bathroom facilities available now behind the office, but it is too far to walk to. The owner is currently planning to build a restroom building and laundromat. Laundromat is just across the street from this complex for now. Shopping, restaurants, and movie theater are very close. Best diesel price is at Sam's Club, which is very close, also. The owner is ex-military and very friendly. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I struggled with the score on this one. For this price for a one or two night stop for self-contained units, Southern Oaks is easily a 10, but to legitimately compare it as an RV park, I’m in line with others who have rated it a 7. Although this is a large mobile home park, the RV sites are clean, level, long, concrete pull-throughs with perfectly-functioning utilities. The gentleman who escorted us to our site waited to be sure everything was in order and offered to help hook up, although I declined. The charming on-site manager is retired military and runs a tight operation. Some of the mobile homes have seen better days, but we both felt safe here, even walking the dog at night. They are adding more RV sites as older mobile homes are phased out. Great Verizon reception. Relatively easy on and off I-10 and easy maneuvering within the park. There is a mall at that exit and plenty of restaurants and fuel stops, although diesel was significantly less expensive a mile or so south of the interstate. Only complaint: double speed bumps near the entrance that are spaced perfectly to jar everything in the MH, even at a crawl, then bounce the toad a couple more times. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very clean. Don't mistake it for the park you come to first on 3 Rivers Rd that is also called Southern something, It is not a good place but Southern Oaks is very nice: huge lots, friendly people. There is a laundry right across the street. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Excellent site- concrete slab, level, 70 ft long, pull thru-- easily handled motorhome and toad. Set up was a breeze. Staff very friendly and provided site escort. Down side, this is a working person's mobile home park and reflected in the various sites. Great for a stop over, but wouldn't stay longer. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The RV park does have a lot of permanent residents and just a few temporary RVers. We stayed 1 night just passing through. The description in Passport America stated that bathrooms were available: however they are not mainly for our use. The bathrooms had to be unlocked for us and were not that clean. The staff stated that Gulfport requires all RVs to be self-contained so they don't have to offer bathrooms. The site we stayed on was paved and really nice. The price is PA rate. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is a mobile home park that has converted many sites into RV sites. All sites are paved and the pull thrus can accommodate big rigs. There is no laundry or other amenities at this time. Free Wi-Fi was excellent at our site. Most RV sites are in one area and not mixed with the mobile homes. Our rate was $20 based on Passport America rate. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
