  Abiding After you unhitch, (beware of low bridges and parkways when you're pulling your rig,) there's lots of fun things to do within a 30 min drive. Nearby parks:Riverfront Green, Peekskill-Also on the Hudson River with plenty of green space for walking and huge playground for the kids! Town of Cortlandt park, Verplank. Green space for walking and a new playground for the kids!Croton Gorge, Croton-Beautiful waterfall and green space. There's a small playground, but last I saw, it was a bit rundown compared to the other parksKensico Dam, Valhalla. Bear Mountain State Park. Lots of hiking trails. Walk around the lake. Take a drive up Perkins Drive for spectacular views! There's a local zoo that's free admission, once you pay for parking to the park. From the back part of the zoo, you can walk across the Bear Mountain bridge, which shouldn't be missed! In the summer, there's a big pool (admission fee) There's a fun carousel. In the winter they've got a small ski/sledding area and an outdoor ice skating rink. West Point Military Academy is an amazing place to visit. (Check with them ahead of time) For history buffs, the Hudson Valley has a HUGE Revolutionary War presence. For indoors: Spins Hudson arcadePalisades Center Mall-besides shopping, to whole top floor has restaurants, a bowling alley, an ice rink (year round) Dave and Busters (restaurant and arcade) a movie theater and a comedy club. Nearby restaurants:Nonnas Pizza, Montrose- Amazing pizza, subs, rolls, and dinners. Mostly takeout but they also have table seating in their Peekskill locationGerard's Pizza- Montrose (my second favorite )Table 9, Cortlandt-a good American style restaurantAll your regular chains like Chilis, Applebees, Chipolte, and fast food places are available within 15-30 min.

  wg123howard Hwy 9A has some marked low clearance overpasses but it only applies to the right lane. Use the left lane if your rig is tall. The Train to NYC, It costs $12 to park at the lot. We walked from campground each day. There are express trains and locals. Take the express. The only way to know the difference the is amount of time to get to GCT. There is a peak rate and off peak and the senior rate is only good on off peak times. Once at GCT, the 5, 6, 7, 8 are only subway trains out of GCT and go to most of the major tourist sites. Trains 5 and 6 are express trains. There are very helpful transit people at GCT. You can pay by credit card at the turnstile. Enjoy the city!
