This place is very clean and the sites are lovely. Very peaceful and quiet in the rural area surrounding Marion. The park does have cable TV not sure why it is listed as not having it. The bathrooms are dated, but very clean. We would stay here again. They do not take credit cards. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our first visit to this campground. The owner is friendly and helpful. The owner purchased the property a while ago and has been upgrading the property, but wants to keep it small. There is a stream that most of the sites back up to. the stream has two swimming holes and our kids loved that! There is a golf driving range which is popular. Our son enjoyed that. You can get three different size baskets of balls from the office. Almost all the sites are a good size and are gravel. The bathrooms were not as clean as I like, but they were adequate. Not many sites so it is very peaceful and quiet. There are some permanent campers here and we spoke to one couple who come every summer for 6 weeks at a time and they love it! There isn't much to their store, just ice and drinks. But a Walmart is only 5 minutes away. Our laptop got onto their internet service fine and was a strong signal. We hear the owner puts on a great 4th of July show and even some locals come to watch. We would camp here again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This campground is perfectly adequate and easily accessible if you're having work done at Tom Johnson, but I found the owner rude. When he found out we'd stayed at a competitor's campground nearby, he started bad-mouthing them terribly. The restrooms were OK, but not great. There was poison oak all around our campsite. We spent one night and won't be back; we'll drive a few extra miles up the mountain. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Bathrooms were unclean. No paper towels. Bathrooms were dirty and like something out of the old west. No locks on toilet doors and very old toilets. Daughter refused to go back to bathrooms. The sites were crammed in together, right on top of each other. The stream was nice and the fire pits (rocks in a circle) were nice. We wished we had gone back to Mama Gerties up the road. The wireless internet kept dropping out and we were only 1/2 way up the line of campers. They shouldn't even advertise that they have wireless. No cable. I would not recommend it to anyone. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
What a great find. The sites are along Buck Creek and nicely shaded. There is no swimming pool, but there are two swimming holes in the river and frequently used. The sites are fairly level and about half of them are occupied with permanent weekenders. The grounds are well kept and the permanent sites have their own gardens. The bath houses are outdated but fairly clean. There is new tile in the two shower areas. There is little privacy in the bathrooms though - open access to showers with only plastic shower curtain - but most people relied on their bathrooms in rigs. A very quiet location - except for Buck Creek - yet convenient for travel to nearby areas - Asheville, Cherokee, Smoky Mtn NP about 2 hours south and Boone, Grandfather Mtn, Blowing Rock about 2 hours north. Great park to escape to. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very nice RV park. It was extremely clean and well maintained. I did not try the bathrooms but my husband said they were clean. The only beef I have about this place is that there's not much for kids. They don't even have a playground and then they want them to strictly adhere to park rules. I don't think I would say children are welcomed, just allowed. Other than that it was very nice and we enjoyed our time there. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a beautiful, quiet, small park. The wifi worked great. Notice for dog owners - your dogs are not allowed to use the grass in the park between sites for their business. Unfortunately, there is no other grass except out on the road. Not a problem for us because we didn't bring our dogs on this trip but we talked to some other dog owners who would not have come there if they had known this in advance (it's not on their website). If your dog requires grass, you need to walk them on the road. We probably won't be back if we are traveling with our pets. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A great campground on a wonderful sounding stream. The landscaping is well taken care of and the overall feel of the grounds is of a very well taken care of place. The bathhouse was closed for the winter but that wasn't a concern for me. It is also a quiet place, the only vehicle that I heard was a school bus. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
What a beautiful park! A gem set in the mountains! We stayed on a premium site that backed up to the running stream. The site had its own deck with a picnic table. Each site has a "firebox" that you can have a campfire in. Firewood is available at the campground store. The owners are friendly and take wonderful care of their park. We did have wifi access, but unless you have satellite, you probably won't be watching TV. That is fine with us. We came to enjoy the mountains and the beauty around us. Just a note: No cellphone service in the park. Not a problem for us, but others may need to have access. We hope to be back here next year! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great little campground for getting away from it all. No phones, no TV, just the sound of running water in the beautiful stream to relax you. A good place for getting back to nature and enjoying each other. We love the people and always leave wanting to go back. We have a large 39 ft motor home and have always had plenty of room even with the car or Harley and trailer. For all you bikers there is some great riding in the area and Ron and Becky are good people. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Our family stayed here for a week in early May. We were looking for a place to relax and fish, and Mountain Stream was the perfect place for that. Our site had a deck over the stream, but any of the stream-side sites are just as nice. The campground is well kept and attractive. Azaleas were blooming during our visit. The only negative was the lack of trout. The stream was not yet stocked, so there were only a few very small fish. Our family found nearby places to fish, but it would have been nice to be able to stay and fish. The Wi-Fi was extremely slow, but we were just grateful to have it at all, especially since there is no cell phone reception there. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
WOW! is the best way to describe this campground for me. I have never given a campground a 10 but this place deserves it. We had reservations and when we arrived they had all of the paperwork ready and check in was a breeze. They explained everything very well and before parking you knew what was and what to expect. We did not see a bad site in the campground; some are just longer than others. The owners have worked hard to make this a nice campground and it shows. They live there full time in their motorhome, yes motorhome. I do not think I have ever seen a campground or bathhouses and clean as this place. It is located on Buck Creek and over half the sites are creekside, which makes sleeping very easy. No noise to speak of at night except the creek and it just soothes you away. Now if you are the part of society today that is looking for lots of amenities, you may not be happy here. You can fish in the creek,or explore it, you can walk around the campground or ride a bike,(it is nice and level) play horseshoes, or basketball. Our favorite activity that they offer is just sitting by the creek and watching it go by. They do not have a playground, game room, or mini golf which was fine. We also liked the fact that you had no cell phone service at all,and no television that you could see very well unless you have satellite. The last thing I will add is that the road getting to Mountain Stream is a little tight and has some curves but nothing bad so do not let that deter you from staying there. We will definitely make Mountain Stream a regular spot for us. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here for Thanksgiving and really enjoyed the campground and the socializing with others guests. This place was so incredibly clean it was amazing! The bathroom and showers are cleaned a couple of times a day and they are heated. They had a potluck Thanksgiving dinner where the owners supplied the turkey and the guests brought all of the side dishes. It was a wonderful time of fellowship, food and fun. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because there were some seedy looking campgrounds leading up to their entrance with lots of permanent (dumpy looking) residents. I wish those people would take care of their grounds like these people do! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This campground is beautiful, peaceful, and pristine. Well worth the extra few miles beyond the RV repair place in Marion. The owners support the local community. They told us about the monthly Saturday Breakfast fund-raiser at Carson's Chapel. Amazing food! We followed the advice on their website and unhitched our towed vehicle in town. After scoping out the twisty route up to the campground, we had no problem with a 31' Class C. If we hadn't scouted it first, we would have been a lot more intimidated. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I did not stay at this park but stopped and talked to the owner, Becky Johnston. Becky and her husband Ron live on site in their motorhome. She cheerfully gave me permission to check out this beautiful park and it is everything that has been described by other reviewers. Free Wi-Fi throughout the park. All sites were level - in fact, the entire park was level which was surprising since the park is in the mountain foothills. Most of the sites are along scenic Buck Creek and command a premium price. The rest are along the road and, since I did not spend the night, I don't know how noisy that would be. The park was very neat and well maintained with pretty landscaping at each site and in the common areas. The spaces were farther apart than what one normally sees in a private campground. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park was very nice and taken care of. If you are in the area this would be a very good stay; was for us. The cover dish is a must do; the food was great. The sites are all graveled with grass between sites. Ron and Becky will go out of there way to please you. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Owners on site at all times, very professional and helpful. Immaculate restrooms, showers and grounds. Trout caught from stream just 15' from site. Great Christian campground with Gospel sing-along and chili cookoff on Saturday nite. Church services on Sunday. Marion is great small town, restaurants, etc and Tom Johnson RV Servive Center. Blue Ridge Mtns and Parkway just minutes away. Recommend to all, will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our first stay at this campground. The previous reviews say it all. This beautiful campground is the cleanest, neatest, most relaxing that I have ever camped at. I am sitting by the creek right now as I use the wireless access to submit this review. The location of this campground is great for visiting the Linville falls and caverns area as well as Mount Mitchell. We participated in the Saturday night covered dish dinner which was great! We will definitely come back to this campground. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We picked this park for our first weekend out in our new motorhome that we just purchased from Tom Johnson's Camping in Marion, NC (Excellent dealer!). It was a great place to start out. Everything was neat and clean. The sites were level gravel. The roads were gravel. Even though it rained heavily the first night there were no problems with drainage. There was a potluck dinner in their pavilion Saturday night followed by very enjoyable live entertainment. The owners are great people who went out of their way to make "first timers" feel welcome. This is a great park for adults, but there were some kids there too. We enjoyed the "Mountain Stream Church" service held Sunday morning. We already have reservation to return and highly recommend this park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Visited this park ten years ago; it was great then and is even better now. Great hosts, bathrooms superb. Quiet. A little off the path but well worth it. All back in sites. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great little mountain RV Park in the Smokie Mountains of North Carolin just a little north of Marion. They have no laundry but it is quiet and clean. The staff is friendly and very cordual host. The stream will tranquilize you if you have a site near it. Great sleeping with the windows open. The road is a little narrow and crooked but my 40 footer made it OK pulling a toad. We will certainly go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice park. Cleanest one we've visited. Owners are especially friendly. They make you feel like old friends from the start. Saturday night community meal is a must do! Great location with lots of close by places to visit. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great little horseshoe shaped campground with a running stream on two sides. We have been there many times and always enjoyed our stays. Bath house is outdated and needs work. They have live music under big shelter on Sat nights with a pot luck covered dish dinner before the show. Fun place. Sunday morning worship is nice also. They have done some remodeling due to weather damage in 2004. A couple of sites are tight to get in but overall a great campground. Will continue to be one of our favorites. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We just spent a fabulous 3 day weekend at Mountain Stream RV Park! The owners, Ron & Becky, have one of, if not the nicest park we have ever been to. Everything is neat and clean, the sites are great and that soothing sound of the stream is worth it's weight in gold! Thanks a bunch and we'll see you again in 2006!! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Lovely place with friendly owners (We don't consider it our business what religion anyone else is, so we don't care whether they're Christians! They seemed just fine to us). Beautiful location though park is small. Center area would be nicer if a part of it were fenced as an off-leash area for dogs, but dogs are made very welcome. The only trouble is--and the reason I won't go back--there is a small zoo of animals right next door guarded by a horribly lonely dog chained to a barrel all alone. I can't look at that night and day every time I walk my dog and enjoy the time I spend there. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is the nicest little campground we have ever stayed in. We were here for 5 nights on a streamside site. The sites are gravel, level, & beautifully landscaped. The bathrooms are spotless. The owners, Becky & Ron, are wonderful - very welcoming & helpful. The location is perfect for exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway & all the attractions of the area. This campground gets our highest recommendation. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We found the park to be very clean and well taken care of. There was fresh gravel laid and the sites were very level. The sound of the stream/river at night is a great way to fall asleeep. The owners have a potluck supper on Saturday nights followed with live entertainement. The owners Ron and Becky were very friendly and helped insure you had a pleasant stay. We will be planning many more trips to Mountain Stream RV park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is an amazing place to bring your family for a quiet vacation. You can camp by a steam on 21 of the sites and 10 it is just right over the hill. The bathrooms are spotless. The grounds are gorgeous. Green grass everywhere and nicely paved and level sites. I felt like I was a member of the family from the time I entered the campground. The owners are amazing people. They are very caring and fun. Live entertainment was fantastic on Saturday night. A fantastic experience with two small children. We will be back every year for sure. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed in a travel trailer on the stream. It was really nice. The common yard area is nice for the kids to play ball or throw a frisbee. There is a basketball court, shuffleboard was broken and horseshoes off limits to the kids. Showers were the cleanest I have ever seen. No phone reception but you can use a phone card at a phone that is available. It also has hookup for a laptop. Relaxing camping.. Will go back. Wish it had laundry facilities. This RV park is pretty as a picture. We stayed only one night and wished our schedule allowed for a longer stay. We were there on a Saturday night and there was entertainment provided free of charge to all. It was a delightful couple that played and sang for about 2 hours, some great tunes that were familiar to all. It was very pleasant and a lot of fun. The owners, David and Kristina Smith are wonderful. They have that very
special way about them that makes you feel welcome and at home the moment you meet them. From check-in to departure they were very gratious and appreciative hosts. Kristina is a marvelous vocalist as evidenced by her CD. Club discounts are extended (FMCA, GS, Escapees, etc). They are located in a rural setting with beautiful trees and a charming mountain stream running along one side of the park. We backed up to the stream during our stay and the sound of the running water gave us a most restful sleep. This is definately one of our all time TOP 10 SPECIAL PLACES. The only reason it isn't rated a 10 is that the pads were not concrete, but they were nice and level. We camped here in a camper.

This is a beautiful, clean, well kept site. The owners are wonderful, kind, Christians who geniunely care about your family and your visit. Many of the sites are streamside with some shade. We had one power surge in the 3 days that we stayed, which was quickly corrected. The only complaint that I have is not one that can be corrected - the biting midgets were horrid, a real bother. We went in August, and plan to make a next
trip in the fall or early spring when insects will be at a minimum. We loved the stream. Our children loved the group activities. We plan to return next year. We camped here in a camper.

What a beautiful place. We go there several times a year and have for several years. It just doesn't get any better than this. The place is spotless with manicured gardens, lots of grass and trees. The owners, David & Christina Smith, are great. You meet them once and you become friends forever. It is a real blessing to be camped there when Christina sings some of the songs from her latest CD. An occasional low voltage power problem is our only complaint. We camped here in a camper.

Excellent park only your cel phone will not work - down in valley. Small rippling stream running by almost half of the sites. If you have sat. TV it will only work at most of the sites not all. Try to get lower number sites and out of the trees. Owners/Mgrs. are just great!!! Will definately go back when in the area. We camped here in a camper.

The resort brochure motto is "Prettiest Little Parl this side of Heaven" which holds true as a description. The Park grounds are well manicured and maintain. Restrooms and other facilities are both clean and inviting. Over one-half of the campsites are located on a beautiful mountain stream whose falling waters add to a truly relaxing atmosphere. We found the park owners/managers, David and Christy Smith to be excellent host. They were most accommodating as well as truly concerned with our entire family enjoying their vacation. We did feel the daily additional rate charge for family members to be a bit higher than usual. However we truly loved our visit and will both recommend as well as return ourselves for future visits. If you are looking for a beautiful, well kept, clean campground-go to Mountain Stream! The creek sites with rustling, rushing waters are the perfect place to relax. We appreciated so very much that the owners, David and Christina Smith, are Christians and make it a point to invite you to attend church with them if you are in the Park over a Sunday. A big plus for the campground is that no alcoholic beverages are allowed in public. Activities are planned each week for the entire family. The Park is located close to many area attractions. We highly recommend this wonderful park. We camped here in a camper.

Motto "Prettiest Little Park this side of Heaven" describes it well. Some pet restrictions. About 4 miles off Blue Ridge Parkway. We camped here in a camper.
Campgrounds don't get any better than this one. The sites were level and the grounds were immaculate. We stayed here for about 2 weeks while we had our rig repaired. The service was fantastic, happy employees , Wi-Fi available in the lounge area, and the restaurant is great with two charming happy cooks, great breakfast and lunch. The entire visit was a pleasure. If you're anywhere east of Asheville, NC on I-40 this is certainly a nice stop, especially if you've got repairs to make on your RV. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We loved our stay at Tom Johnson's. The campground is located right along a river, and we had views of Mount Mitchell right out our front window. There is a very nice clubhouse with comfy couches, 60" TV, free coffee all day, and a great cafe that servers excellent food for reasonable prices. Everyone is very friendly that works there. If you need to get service done on your RV, they'll work with your schedule to do the work during the day and move your rig back to your spot at night for you to stay in. Asheville is only 30 minutes away; Marion is about 5 minutes away. Very dog friendly. Our dogs never even had to be on a leash. We love it here, and will stay whenever we are in this part of NC. Were able to park our trailer in a separate lot for free within walking distance. Cost is usually $30/night, or $600/mo. One of the nicest RV parks we've stayed in. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice alternative to high priced, older campgrounds in Asheville yet it is a quick 30 minutes from here to the Biltmore and other attractions. The park is also a good place if you plan to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mount Mitchell. Plenty of places to explore and take day trips. All sites are paved with ample concrete pads and patios. If you choose a site along the river, beware that the trees may obstruct satellite reception. Also, we found that you will only get 3 digital TV channels because the local stations cannot get signal through the mountains. If you have a satellite, no worries (except the river sites). The grounds are immaculate. Staff are friendly and you are treated like family. The cafe is wonderful and serves a hearty breakfast and lunches. The cafe is open Mon - Sat (summer hours). The facility has a spacious sitting area, fireplace, large screen TV, spotless restroom/showers and 2 washers/dryers. If you are coming for service, this is the best place to stay if you want to come a day or so before your appointment, relax, and take some day trips while they are servicing your rig. If you want a nice, spacious, inexpensive, friendly place to stay while visiting Western North Carolina, you'll want to stay here! We are staying here as our base for 6 weeks and will definitely return here again! (Also, there is a rally park next door for small or large groups). We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is next to the brand new service center. The camp is spotless and well cared for. Excellent hookups with good quality 50 amp power, water, and sewer hookups. Wireless internet was not available at my site but works well up at the service center lounge area. The lounge is open during normal business hours and also has a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. Food was reasonable and pretty good. The bathrooms and showers were spotless. Brand new coin operated washers and dryers are also available. If you plan on arriving after 6pm, call ahead because the gates close and you will need an access code to open them for after hours arrivals. Campsites are level and well spaced. Easy access with plenty of room to maneuver for big rigs. Sites near the river have trees to provide shade; other sites are in the open. Campground is surrounded by tree covered hills which provides a nice view. The $27 rate reflects a 10% Good Sam discount. Strong signal for both my Verizon cell phone and internet air card. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here 1 night because we were having service done on our RV. It's in a quiet area far from the interstate. The sites are flat, large concrete pads with grass in between. The free wi-fi is available in and around the customer service area. The bathhouses were spotless, with large, strong showers. There wasn't much TV available off the air. The customer service area has a large-screen TV, comfortable leather furniture and rocking chairs, and a cafe. The price was with the Good Sam discount. There's a rally park across the street. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Fantastic Campground. This was our first time but definitely not the last. Super friendly staff does everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. Lots of fun for the kids. They loved the water slide and all the activities. Shaded sites in the B section are great sites...some sites in that section are full sun though. Only negative I could find is that it is a bit dusty.... minor inconvenience though for the great time we had. We will be going back in October. I would definitely recommend this park to anyone wanting a great family atmosphere with lots of fun for the kids (ours are age 3 and 9). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We just returned from a 10 day trip here. We absolutely loved this campground! The Garcia family who own it are just lovely people and made us feel very welcome. The CG itself was safe feeling enough to let the kids (ages 7 and 4) roam around, ride their bikes ans play mini golf all by themselves. Of course it helped that we had a good view of the mini golf course and the ranger station from our campsite. We were able to visit attractions such as Chimney Rock and Grandfather Mountain but they did require just about an hour drive. The bathhouses were kept clean, though there were a few piggy campers who would mess the showers overnight. I never understand why people do that type of thing, but they were promptly cleaned in the morning. WI-FI is available at the ranger's station and those with satellite dishes were unable to get a signal at their sites nor could we get a signal for our cell phones within the CG (but as soon as we left the CG we had a signal), plus we were unable to find a decent newspaper, so we felt isolated from the world for 10 days (not really a bad thing, though!!!). The park has a fishing lake, paddle boat and canoe rentals, and arcade, mini golf, a really fun water slide a pool and kiddie pool and a hiking trail that led to a creek. All those amenities were included with a 7 day stay. They have free family games and activities everyday and most nights and offer arts and crafts daily (for a fee). Plus there were plenty of appearances by Yogi Bear himself!!! My main complaint is that there was only 1 main bathhouse for all the campers with only 2 toilets and 2 showers. This was never really a problem until the weekends when the park filled up. Then there was a line to the showers and the hot water would run out. There was a bathroom and shower up by the ranger station and the pool, but they weren't open 24 hours (at least that's what the sign said, I never tried them after hours.) We liked this park so much, we are planning on going back there next year! :) We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
My family and I visited this park for Pirates week! We had an amazing time. The park was very well kept and the beautiful lake was full of huge fish! We stayed in a cabin that was very clean and well furnished; we were able to see our kids participating in activities from our porch. The service was truly 5 star in the great outdoors. The staff was so friendly and called us by name. If you are looking for the perfect family vacation where everyone will be entertained all day this is the place to go! My kids had the most fun here! I almost forgot the waterside is super fast and fun! My whole family and I enjoyed it all weekend! We will be back soon. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.
Pretty park and well placed between several nice destinations in NC including the Biltmore estate and Chimney Rock. The service was unreal, that being said they knew my family's names from time of check-in to check out. While it is pricey for overnight stay, the activities and theming was something that no other park has been able to deliver. My kids had so much fun, and that in itself was worth every penny. Aesthetically, the park has some opportunities within the lake, however my site was well kept and my hook-ups were well placed. We've already made reservations for 2009. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The Park is very pretty. Lake is nasty and the sites are not level. Golf carts and four wheelers go well above the speed limit, which is not enforced. The site was dirty because they don't prep the sites before new campers come. Price is higher than at the beach. Golf, Pool and Slide a run down and old. Expensive considering nothing is free with your stay. Grass wasn't mowed and the fire rings have weeds growing taller than the ring (Not trimmed or maintained well). Roads are nothing but mud, very little gravel no pavement. Motor home had to turn around because hill was to steep and there was no traction to get into spot. Permanent campers made me feel at home and were very helpful. Power keeps going out, you have to keep checking your fridge to make sure its on. The creek has weeds growing all over it, lake is full of algae and the fishing wasn't very good. Half of the lake is only 2 feet deep, needs dredging. Just not worth the money, groceries are ridiculous. They buy them from food lion or Ingles and then jack the price up, you even have to pay for doughnuts. Hay ride has no hay, they use the same trailer for the Hayride and trash pick up. The owner has high hopes for the campground but doesn't realize that the people in the area don't have that kind of money. New trailers that look like cabins, very high and they don't have underpinning on them so they look terrible. Two campers near bath house are old and run down. It needs a lot of work. I won't be back until things are improved. Unhappy camper. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The intersection off the expressway to get to this campground is a nightmare for big rigs. The 2 lane roads intersect at an angle, so the turn we had to make was basically a 45 degree turn which isn't an easy feat in a 40' dp with tow. Thankfully there was no oncoming traffic from the road we were turning onto. The roads to get to the campground were all narrow two laners, but clearly marked with signs leading to the campground entrance. The entry road is very steep and twists a bit. We had a reservation to stay at this campground for a week, but we left early. We were on the premium site, which was nice - right on the pond complete with a nice covered patio. The pond was a little nasty, as well as the area surrounding it - fishing line and hooks and garbage. The campground dog was very nice, but a bit of pain for our own dogs. He kept trying to mate with them. We found it quite weird that the owners would keep an unleashed dog within the campground, especially when the rules say to keep your dogs on a leash at all times. The pool was nice, not very clean and obviously in need of work. There were a lot of soft spots on the pool floor, which worried me a bit. This campground also allows the public to access their amenities for a fee, so the pool and slide can be very busy at times. The campsite itself was actually not that bad (not too level, but you're in the mountains), and the owners and staff were excellent. Overall this campground just seemed run down. We will more than likely not return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
First let me say this park has one major plus..the attitude of the front desk manager - Alex. What an awesome kid. Extremely nice and friendly. For people coming here with motorhomes over 36 ft. it probably is going to be a very tight fit for you. ( Hint, for MH owners disconnect your toad before leaving and hook it up at Love's truck stop at I 40 ). The driveway coming in and out is one of the steepest grades I have ever seen in such a short distance. Also be careful of the back roads coming here, they are not very wide and mail boxes are right next to the roads. The CG itself has a lot of trash around on the sites. The fire pits are not cleaned out and peoples trash is typically left behind for you to deal with. They have no site prep program here at all and, after paying $ 50 I had to clean my own site once we hooked up. If you plan on swimming in the lake / pond, think again. It is a muddy algae mess littered with fish lures, fish hooks, trash, etc. The bath house trash can was running over onto the ground for two days. The sites are unlevel but the utilities placement is very well thought out. With the gas costs soaring and average Americans suffering, it would help if CG owners would help out their customers. Instead, this CG increased their mini golf prices from $ 3 to 5 this season. Their water slide costs are also high as are other incidental costs. It's a shame as this is a nice family who owns this CG and it has a gorgeous setting. But there seems to be a lack of dedication to the camp sites. Full fire pits, trash laying around each site, old fishing hooks and lures in the grass, etc. is not my idea of $ 50 dollars worth of camping facility. I am hoping that they focus more attention on keeping the campground and camp site clean. As for ourselves, we wont be back at these rates. It is way over priced. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is an impossible park to get to. The road in is small and poorly marked. The road down into the park is approximately 50%. Once you get here you had better be a billy goat. Our site was somewhat flat but don't know how we can get out of it tomorrow. All the attractions were closed. For the price it is not worth the hassel. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This was our first visit to this campground. The campground is a good home base location for visiting the Asheville, Mt Mitchell, Linville-Boone-Blowing Rock, Chimney Rock, and Lake Lure areas. It also would be considered by most to be a destination. The park has a pool, mini golf, water slide, volleyball, basketball, and many planned activities for the kiddies and adults. The park is easy to get to but out in the country. They have a park store that has necessities but the closest Grocery store is about four miles away. It also has several nice restaurants nearby. The restrooms and showers were kept clean and smelling fresh. The lake sites were nice. The other RV sites were on a fairly steep hill that required a good walk to get to the activities. Cell phone service was pretty non existant until you were about a mile out of the park. While the sites were nice some of them had severe drops off the edge that I would consider dangerous for small children. Most needed at least a new load of gravel. The roads in the park are not paved which could cause it to be dusty in dry weather. The reason for our score was the cost per night and the extras. $6 per day for the waterslide, $3 per game of mini golf. We just thought that was a bit much for what is was. One thing that we were very happy about was the guy that led you to your site. He knew exactly where the rig need to be to get the most space usage from the site. He told you where to pull to and where to back to on the site. That really helps with the setup process. We will stay here again in the future. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very nice park. We were in a pull-thru in the B section and it was huge. It was up on top of the hill so it was quite a hike to the main activity area but a nice quiet area non the less. Management was very nice and they had tons of kids activities. My main complaint was the fact that they open the pool and waterslide ($6.00 per person even if you camp there) to the public from 10-3. The place was mobbed with groups having parties/gatherings to the point my 4 year old was scared to get near the waterslide. The pool was closed due to some type of state inspections they were waiting on so it made the slide even more crowded. With a small one that is not a good swimmer I don't know if we would come back on a weekend if it is like that all summer. Otherwise a great campground! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is our second visit to this mark in two months. We love it! The grounds and bathrooms are spotless. The owners are very nice and make sure that everyone abides by the rules. The pool is big, clean and well supervised. There were a lot of fun activities for the children. The setting of the campground is beautiful with the lake and the mountains. We will camp here as often as we can. We had friends camp here in a tent and they loved it as well. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very nice park. It is now called Jellystone not Hidden Valley. For children this is a paradise. Huge pool with a water slide next to it. There are charges for using the slide but it was very nice. Also lots of activities could not keep up with them but there is a lot to do. As for the campground the site I had was a pull through not much front patio area and it was next to the road. If I am to go again I would choose a site on the pond or up the huge hill. Nice size patio areas for those spots. The only complaint I had was the main roads were not paved and a lot of dust every due to passing vehicles. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed there for a week and really enjoyed ourselves. Everything was clean and very quite at night. The owners went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. I would rate the campground a 9 or a 10 if they installed 50 amp power and cable tv. We will stay there again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here for two nights with some friends of ours. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The restrooms were spotless. The site was fairly level for being on a mountain side. The access road into the park was pretty narrow and steep but not too bad. There were tons of activities going on the entire weekend. This park is definitely family friendly, they have nightly movies and other activities for kids. The only drawback we had was that we were in the B section which is located on a pretty steep hill with no shade. This section was a long way from the pool and other activities and the hill was so steep that we couldn't ride our bikes easily. Other than that, this is an extremely nice campground. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We spent a wonderful week at this campground. Bathrooms were sparkling and there was plenty of hot water. Plenty of activities planned for all age groups -- our family especially enjoyed BINGO and a new game called "Left-Center-Right." Our daughter met plenty of new friends to play with and had a ball in the pool and on the water slide. (I counted 5 lifeguards on duty.) The owners and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and escorted us to our site. This is a beautiful "hidden valley" campground and one we plan to visit often. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
This is a wonderful park with beautiful scenery and tons of things to do. There were so many activities that our family could not do them all. We stayed over Father's Day weekend and the kids were able to paint a special t-shirt for their dad for $1.00 each! Everyone was very friendly and the campground was very clean. The campground has gravel roads and sites which were very, very dusty. The dust began to bother us after a while. It would help greatly if the roads and perhaps the sites were paved. However, we would camp here again. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We camped here in a fifth wheel in the B section.B13 to be exact. These were not wooded sites but were level and very spacious. The owners were very helpful as they took us to our site. Great place for kids. There were a ton of kids around and there were many activities that kept them busy. Between the Jr Olympic pool, waterslide and the playground this kept all of us busy. The lake is nice although it had not been stocked this year we still had fun never the less. Another thing worth noting was how quiet the park was.I believe quit hours started at 11pm and it was just that. A very relaxing time. We took our small dog and the doggy walk was spotless. The park was very well manicured and clean. This is a very family friendly campground and we will definitely make plans for a future trip. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our first visit to this campground but it is now one of our favorites! In fact, we registered for two more weekends while we were there. It is one of the prettiest places we have been, with friendly staff and lots for kids to do. Unfortunately, we waited until the last minute to make reservations for a holiday weekend and were told that there were only two spots left. When we arrived, I wasn't entirely thrilled with the site (D-5) because it was not shaded63. We ended up being very pleased because we could keep an eye on our daughter at the playground without leaving our site. We were also right next to the Big Pavilion and many of the weekend activities were just a few steps from our camper. (Bingo, Music, Horseshoes, Volleyball, S'Mores Campfire, Sunday Services, etc.) The Big Pavilion also has restrooms, but no showers. There wasn't much foot traffic near our site otherwise, so it was also one of the most quiet at night. We found out that we were in the "overflow" section and they only open the D section up when the campground is full and there are no corporate events scheduled at the Big Pavilion. We would be happy to stay in that section again. The most attractive feature of this campground is the waterslide -- there was an additional cost of $6 for a 1-day pass; $9 for a 2-day pass, and $12 for a 4-7 day pass. Well worth the money as that was all our daughter wanted to do each day. We also rented a paddle boat for $3.50. They offered free use of volleyballs and horseshoes. There was a full schedule of events and activities were geared to both kids and adults. The campground is very clean and well-maintained. Friendly staff and beautiful scenery make it one of the best around. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We visited this campground in Oct. 2003. Nice campground, but our site was not very desirable. We were parked beside a mud bank with no trees at all. Have some sites on small pond that looked nice. Restrooms were clean. They have putt-putt and a pool with water slide. Would be a good summertime cg. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
