Campground is located just off I70 so there is traffic noise but it's not too bad. The pull-through site we stayed in was just adequate. Good location for visiting Nascar race shops. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Park is old and on a hill overlooking I-77 with access via a country road and a long private driveway. Pavement is need of attention. Our site was a pull-through, reasonably level dirt and mud covered (some grass/weeds) but no pad. High speed internet service is quickly throttled down to unusable. Adjacent to Interstate so some vehicle noise; otherwise quiet. Sewer connection diameter is larger than standard making it impossible to get a seal. Somewhat overpriced at $45 per night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
As noted the 30 amp pull throughs were level side to side but required unhooking to level front to back. The road in and out requires some attention particularly in the dark as you appear to be heading down the entrance ramp to the interstate. OK for an overnight. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We had a 30 amp W/E pull-through gravel site, level side to side but quite a slope toward the front, so even for one night had to unhook. The bathrooms and laundry were clean. The 50 amp FHU sites look nicer, but cost much more. Right next to the interstate so there is a lot of noise. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A big rig can get in this park but it is a bit tight. We had to disconnect our tow. The park itself is well kept and the dog run in the back is great. There are quite a few permanents mixed in with the RV sites. Cabins looked nice. It is difficult to get back to I-77 especially if you are going south. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Only stayed one night; goal was to get off the road and relax. Had 50amp, water, and sewer. Sprint cell phones and air card worked fine. Don't know about activities. Staff was friendly and knowledgable about the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
As all the last reviews stated, this park is good for an overnight stop. Park is well kept. We would of liked to have 50 amp service but they were full when we got here. Utilities all good, including cable TV and Wi-Fi. Biggest fault is the site we were on was not level at all. None of the other vacant sites looked very level either. We would probably stop here again, but call ahead to make sure we could get a 50 amp site. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here for a quick overnight. Pull through was good, but too short. I had to disconnect to stay for the night. The bath houses were clean, but a little dated. The pool was nice, but small. When you have a KOA, shouldn't the pool be bigger? All hookups were good and cable had a lot of channels. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I agree with all the prior evaluations as a very adequate and pleasant overnight or weekend stop. Some of the picnic tables were badly bent and if I managed the campground I'd improve this cosmetic flaw.Other than that it's a well kept property. We'd certainly return. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great park for travelers passing along the I-77 corridor. We needed an over night stop for our trek from the north back to the south. Its a perfect location- easy on and off the Interstate with a nice clean well develped park. We have 2 dogs and they really appreciated the new dog parks and large dog walk areas at this campground. Check in with the staff was great and quick. We were set up on our pull through site(which was very level) in 15 minutes. Fantastic Wi-Fi and cable TV service kept us in touch with the rest of the world. The location and quality of the park made it easy to disconnect quickly the next morning and allowed us hit the road pronto the next morning. We will definitly be back again at this park for north- south transits that use the 1-85, I-77, I-81 corridor. Good value. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We use this as an overnight on our way back north. Convenient on/off I-77. There seem to be a lot of long-term campers and the overnight get an area that does not have sewer hook up. There is a dump station on the way out. Our site was slanted downhill, but we did not have to unhook. A lot of road noise, but did not hear from RV when running AC or fan. It seems to be a popular overnight stop for RVers, as the area filled up as the evening progressed and most of us left in the morning. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed there for one night and found it to be OK. All services worked well such as WiFi, cable, etc. Has some old motor homes and trailers in sites that look like they have been there for years. Needs to get the junk out.Very friendly and helpful staff. A bit expensive for the condition of the place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice campground right off i-77. Place was very clean, staff very friendly. Only two things that I didn't like: no water pressure in shower and there were bees around cabins but they went away towards the evening. Other than that, I really liked it here. Highly recommend. Oh also I did not like the fact you weren't allowed to have ground fires. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.
This is a rundown KOA. Check in was good, friendly staff. The 30A receptacle wasn't properly grounded, as I always check before plugging in. The maintenance guy had the site across from us and replaced it immediately. Nice guy. The site and park was muddy from the recent rain. There were numerous poorly maintained full time trailers, once again, more like a trailer park than a campground. Water pressure was OK. No cable TV. Picked up some Charlotte stations. No shade, and located close to the Interstate so there was a lot of noise. This really doesn't bother us, though, as we run the AC to drown out the noise. Nice new dog park, a little bit of a walk from the main park. Very disappointing as a KOA. We'll find another campground if we are in the area again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Other than the tricky turn onto the approach road it's a convenient stopover, Use caution or you'll go right back on I-77. I had trouble getting cable reception. The office suggested the problem was in my equipment. It wasn't. WiFi was good. Grounds and facilities were clean and orderly. Some highway noise. No trees or obstructions make it easy to navigate through the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Decided on this park over other ones on our route because 'Trailer Life' reported an enclosed dog run. There are posts and gates but no fence. There is a good grassy pet walking area. No waste bags but they do provide cut down bleach bottles to use as a scoop. Sites are reasonably level and decently spaced. The shower privacy walls are situated over a communal drain trough. Showers/restrooms are okay clean with a few spider webs in the corners. It appears most of the campers are long term. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park is very close to the interstate but it was not noisy. The pull through site we had was plenty long for our 40' coach plus our attached toad. We used the campground as an overnight stop. It was a little pricey for an overnight stay but it was clean, near the highway and had 50 amps electric service. The day we stayed in the campground it was around 100 degrees F. outdoors. The 50 amp service was great to have. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This looks like an old KOA. It's convenient because it is right off the freeway. If you look at the photos on their web site, they have only ONE photo that shows actual campsites. If you look closely I think you can tell the camp sites are mostly dirt, with a little gravel that time has severely ground into the earth. There were a couple of mobile homes that looked to have been there quite a while – including one with a fuel oil tank hooked up at the rear. This was probably the most plain looking, if not the ugliest, KOA we have ever stayed at. Everything was functional, and if it’s convenient to your route and you need a place to stop it would be okay. The pool was closed due to the season, but it looked like it would be nice. The whole campground would look 100% better if the RV's that (I think) stay there year round were forced to clean up their campsites and the older mobile homes were moved out. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This price reflects the average costs for five nights, due to the KOA discount and the promotion of staying on the 14th and getting the 15th free. When I made the reservations, I asked for sites 3, 5 or 7 because of the previous comments. They told me there was no guarantee but they would note in my reservation. We did get site #3 for our big rig. It was fine but I also saw quite a few more sites that were level. All 8 sites in the D section (long pull thrus)looked fine to me. The 4 washers ($1.50 a load) and 2 dryers (.25 for 12 minutes) were rather loud and needed some maintenance but they got the job done. When we checked in, the cable was not working but they told us they would let us know when it got hooked up. We didn't here a word. Fortunately, we didn't need it. Garbage is picked up at your site, which is nice. Our Verizon computer card and phone worked well but the KOA free Wi-Fi worked well also. The grass on our site had not been mowed for a couple of weeks, although they were mowing other parts of the park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We agree with the previous reviewer: this park is ok for an overnight but in order to be on level site, you need to be on site #5 or 7. Most of the other sites are really unlevel. However, I thought there were fewer older rundown units in the park than in previous years. However, you can't beat the location right off the highway. Great for an overnight but as most KOA's, I think it is overpriced for what you get. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed at this campground numerous times since 2003 and this was the worst visit. Previously we have stayed in sites 3, 5, or 7 which have been level and easy access. This time, we had site 32 which was an easy access site. The major problem was that the site was so unlevel that the front tires on both sides were probably 5 inches off the ground and the front tire on the tag axle on the passenger side was off the ground also. We pulled up so far to try and level that the sewer hose did not reach even with an extension. As usual, Wi-Fi, dog walking, and convenience to I77 were great. We will stay here again only if guaranteed to have a single number site. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We only spent one night on our way home to Ohio from Florida. Not a bad place to stay but highway noise is very evident. Bathrooms need updating but they were clean. Some permanent residents have trailers that looked very cluttered. We would stay here again if needed. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here for one night on our way back from Florida. Very convenient off of the highway, it is a nice place to stay to rest up to finish a long ride home. The pool was clean and nice, but could use a bit of updating. The bathrooms were clean but also could use some updating. The gentleman at the desk was polite and did answer questions. There is no closed in pet area but there is a designated pet "bathroom area" but they have to stay on the leash. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
One of the worse campgrounds we have ever stayed at. Campground is a very, very old campground with lipstick updates. Several new pull through sites adjacent to old trailers with dumpy trailers on them and owners with old noisy pick up trucks. Best quality of this campground is that is is easy to I-40. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The office, laundry and camp store appeared clean and organized. We had a quick check in, but were disappointed with the sites and common areas. The gravel pad was not level, nor was it clean. There was trash from previous campers and there are some permanent renters at the park who don't keep things tidy. There is a large area to walk dogs. It just seems to need some TLC. Our site was very muddy as it had rained and we had to walk through puddles all around our bus. We thought it was overpriced and would probably not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park is conveniently located off the north/south interstate (I-77&I-40) at Statesville. For us it was strictly an overnighter. The washrooms were clean and the staff helpful but wi-fi was disappointingly spotty. Do they shut it down at night? Sites are small but adequate but the grounds looked a little tired and could use some spruce up. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We used this park as an overnight stop. The park was clean, and the site was fairly level. We were greeted when signing into the park, after hours, by a host who escorted us to our 50 amp pull through site. The park was pretty full however, very quiet. We would stay here again for an overnight stop however we were not at the park long enough to comment on the park during the day time hours. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Convenient to Statesville, right off freeway so a little noisy, but tolerable. Clean convenient laundry and store, helpful staff. Sites gravel with grass strip, not very level, and could use some maintenance on pull trhoughs, but certainly adequate. GREAT park for dogs, large doggy walk areas with trash cans and bags. WiFi worked well for us out at end of park far from office. Thought price was quite high priced for what it was. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Friendly office staff. Pet friendly with lots of dag walking space. Most sites are not very level but the ones up top are not too bad. We stayed for 3 months and our rate was 500/month. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Our site (H46] was level and adequate in width and length. The staff was friendly and helpful. Wi-Fi connection was good. The pet walk was nice with a trash can provided to dispose of waste. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A nice place to stop for a night or two. Not a lot to do at the campground for children. Playground had two swings and a metal structure to climb on. The pool was closed but appeared nice. The campground is right next to I-77 so there is traffic noise 24 hrs, not overwhelming but there. Multiple pet walks and lots of woods on two sides. Easy access to I-77 and sites were close together and level. A nice 1 or 2 night stopping point. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
OK park. Good for overnight stops - right off the interstate. Note: it is a good location per NASCAR fans but that is about it. Many permanents in older RVs. Sites are not level - some not too bad but some are way off. Staff nice. Good dog walking areas. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This KOA is great to use for an overnight stay while traveling I-77. The sites are narrow, grass to gravel, but level. They offer free Wi-Fi, but connectivity was somewhat intermittent. There is a nice area for dog walking, but waste scooping is not enforced, so you must be careful while walking your pet. The higher rating for this park is mainly for convenience to the interstate and the easy fuel up at exit 42. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Clean and quiet. Near the interstate but didn't hear the traffic. It is tricky getting into the campground since you have to go down the interstate entrance ramp a short distance then turn into the frontage road. The other interesting item is there is a large billboard over the frontage road that looks like it will take the top off your trailer, but the road drops down enough to give clearance. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Stayed one night after picking up newly purchased vintage travel trailer in Charlotte. Campground is close to Camping World. KOA hosts were friendly and welcoming. As requested, they assigned us a good easy to access site as new RVer's. The site and location suited our needs as a one night stopover on the way back to Northern Illinois. Very clean restrooms and showers. Would stay in again as an overnight stopover. Easy access to and from the the interstate. We didn't notice the road noise that much. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a campground to stop at on your way to or from a destination. It is not like your typical KOA as its a very basic campground. You are camped on the highway so road noise is continuous. The game room was shut when we stayed there as was the pool. There is a basketball court and the office provides the balls. There are no scheduled activities and the sites are not level at all. We camped on a site that had we put our awning out it would have shaded the neighbors sewer hose, so we opted not to put it out. When it rains it becomes a muddy mess. There is no cable and we couldn't pick up the local channels with our antennae. The staff is friendly and the store is stocked minimally but does have your basics. It is a clean park with the staff working daily to keep it that way even picking up cig butts which are left behind. I rated it as a 9 as it is what it is. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed for a week here. They do charge 2.00 extra per night on top of the 32.00 for the use of a/c. Staff was very friendly but the campground is old and needs lots of upgrades. Advertised 4 TV stations but only was able to receive 1. If you don't have satellite you're out of luck. We had an air card for our laptop, T Mobile, and had excellent reception. If you have the KOA Value card you will get 10% off. Directly off I 77 and close to I 40, lovely area if your up here for a reason. We camped here in a Motorhome.
[ 8 / 10 ]
Excellent campground, easy on and off highway. Close to junction of I-40 and I-77. Visited twice in the past two months and look forward to visiting again soon. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I stayed here for a NASCAR race. It was not real loud. Most sites were nice, but the one we had was next to a tree and we could not put the awning out. Clean place, but nothing special. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Convienient and easy to find location on I-77, Six miles south of I-40. Folks at counter were efficient and friendly. Sites were for big rigs to tent camping. A few cabins for rent at $38 a night. Has a couple of permanent trailers but no issue. They allow motorcycle camping. Nice pool and swings for kids. Campground was very nice at one time but is getting a lttle tired. But not too bad. We stayed two nights in September and everything was fine. It has a lot of one nighters. Good place to stay if you are not looking to be entertained at the site, just a place to spend the night.
We camped here in a Motorhome.
My kids love it here and we return for a few days each summer. The pool is large and clean, there is a jumping pillow, playground and Saturday activities planned. The "lake" is really a small pond and the sites that are considered lake front might be hard for a large motorhome but no problem for our 31 ft travel trailer. Owners are friendly and helpful, some permanent site need a lot of TLC but others are fine. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park is very steep. Sites are on tiers. Maneuverability could be very difficult due to trees. Interior roads are poorly graveled & steep. Not satellite friendly. Lake is more a holding pond. Fire ring on most sites. Our Patio site had wooden deck with wood bench table on it & were both unclean. Office staff /owner has poor attitude to paying customers, who have been long time KOA members. We were here one night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Pricing reflects KOA discount. We only stayed here overnight and didn’t get to check out all of the cool stuff this campground has to offer. They had hayrides in full swing when we arrived around 8pm, but the owners took the time to show us to our site. The site was large, level, and long enough for our motorhome plus toad. Our site also had a stone patio with a fire ring, patio table and chairs as well as bench. The patio was perfect for unwinding after a long day on the road. The restrooms and showers were large and clean and required a code to enter. By Quiet Time the hayrides were over, and a staff member was patrolling in a golf cart. We would definitely go back when we had more time to enjoy ourselves. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We came here for the annual Statesville hot air balloon festival. It was pretty cool if you have never been to one. It was our first. We were going to camp at the I-77 KOA, but the reviews were pretty bad. This one was all right, but had some things that could have been better. Our site was a pull through, but on the way out we had to turn very sharp and the drivers side trailer tires had to go in a ditch. No damage but could have been better. I walked through the park and some of the campers looked abandoned in place. They didn't look dangerous, just unsightly. I walked through the bathhouse just to look, not very clean. Our site was 11. Some sites had a patio but not much space between sites. It was OK for 2 days. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We spent 4 days here over a weekend and loved it. They had some activities for the kids on Sat and the jumping pillow and pool was a big hit. The pool was well kept and clean. We didn't use the bath house but it has been newly updated and looked very nice. My only complaint, the pond needs a good clean up. The fishing was possible but your lines kept getting tangled from all the debris. A few of the sites could use a little TLC, but the one we were on was just fine. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We spent Memorial Weekend 2011 here and loved it. They had activities each day, the owners/staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The grounds were well kept, sites clean and level. We had a wonderful stay here. We will be back. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I can't give this any better rating as the sites are not level and the pull-thru site that we had, we had to unhitch as it was so unlevel. The laundry was supposed to have 2 washers and 2 dryers, one was not working and was sitting outside and the one dryer had an out of order sign on it and then all of a sudden that disappears, but I was afraid to use it. The laundry was filthy, to say the least. We will not return there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very quiet, very clean. Friendly staff. The restrooms were locked and we were given a code to enter the bathroom/shower room. Appeared that the restrooms were not open to the public while we were there. Would stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park in a whole was nice. I do, however, have some complaints. Everything they sold in the store was out of date. The chips, milk, eggs, everything had expired. I could understand if it was winter, but this is the middle of June,. Get fresh products to sell. Also, my son went to play on the jumping pillow, and it was deflated by 8pm when it's suppose to be open until 10pm. He went back the next morning and at 11am; it still wasn't open. Owners do not adhere to posted schedules. Also, this KOA lets the public use the pool, which is fine but they also give public access to the shower rooms. There was a specific group of people who were there most of the time we were from the general public, not camping, and they trashed the shower rooms, where you couldn't even go in there. The shower rooms should be reserved for registered camping guests only, not the general public. You could compare them to a normal city Walmart restrooms. Very nasty. Also they have putt-putt there, but it costs extra to play. Most places include this with your camping fee so you don't have to pay extra to play. If you're there a few days, I recommend seeing the North Carolina State Zoo. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Site a pull thru gravel and not level. Wi-Fi worked fine. Large pool with game room and some other kids playground equipment. Private fishing lake. Great staff who sure helped me out with a mechanical problem. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here in our 40' motorhome, sites were fairly level and it was nice for a site near the interstate. The park was clean, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The park is far enough off the interstate that there is no road noise and it was easy to find. We were able to get verizon aircard signal and direct TV as well. We stayed during the week, so there were no children around, but it appeared to be a very kid friendly park. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We had a wonderful site down by the Lake, we camped for 5 nights. Went fishing (no luck!) and swimming. The Pool is very clean and Olympic size. They also have a great playground and jump pillow for the kids along with miniature golf. The staff was great, very helpful. They are improving this campground everyday to KOA Standards. Getting rid of the 'older model' monthly's and only allowing 'new models' to become monthly's. We will stay there again if we are in the area. I am only rating it a 9 because of being charged extra for electric and having no cable. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We made reservations to camp here. When we had to call and cancel, the man at the front desk of the campground was very rude. He argued with me about why I was cancelling, and after five minutes of this told me he was not in front of a computer he would have to call me back. I just could not believe how unprofessional he was, and we are very glad we chose not to stay there. We camped here in a Tent.
Management staff was very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were very clean!!! Some improvements such as the installation of grills are needed. Management did notify me that the campground is currently being renovated to meet KOA standards and that the addition of grills at each campsite was on the list. We'll camp here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We came in after hours, and the night registration instructions said to park under the light pole. This was a powerful arc light that turns everything underneath (like our RV) into daylight. Mud covered gravel was everywhere. We were unable to receive satellite in that location with automatic dish. There was no septic or cable TV in that spot; only 30 amp, too. This place is now a KOA. How did that happen? We will not come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The name of the campground is also "Statesville East/Winston Salem KOA". The monthly rate does not include electric which is metered. The owners overcharged us six cents per kilowatt hour over the power company rate and we could only get a partial refund from them when we found this out from other campers. The interior roads are dirt which are deeply rutted, the facilities are in poor condition, the sites are small and not level, and the bathrooms are dirty. There's no cable in the park. We stayed 3-1/2 months in 2007/2008 and 3 months in 2008/2009 and will will definitely not return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Friendly and accommodating owners. Our site was at the lower half of the campground near the lake. Nice pool and jumping pillow. Arcade and shower facilities could use some TLC. A few of the "seasonal" need to be cleaned up. Two issues you should know about - (1) the flies are unbelievable (made it impossible to enjoy a meal outside), and (2) we had a pretty intense rain storm that created a mudslide down the hill directly behind us. Our RV moved slightly which was a little unsettling. Owners did repair the roads the day after the storm. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here as a stopover night on the way to our destination. The staff was very friendly. We were in a pull-thru site which was not very level and almost impossible to level the MH. Low hanging trees and lots of shade, so TV reception was poor. Campground was okay for a stopover with easy off/easy on the Interstate, but too pricey for a lengthy stay. We didn't use any of the amenities and only stayed one night. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Not at all what I'd call a "Resort". O.K. for an overnight stop. Overpriced for the setting and facilities. Even though the web site and brochure promise 12% to 20% discounts during the off -season, we were charged full summer rates for an overnight stop on a snowy mid-February night. Wife says I'm being charitable. The only comment in her logbook is "awful". We camped here in a Motorhome.
From the attitude of the person taking us to our site to the actual site itself this was not a good campground. The rear of my trailer was over 24" off the ground, while the front was only 9" off the ground. Trees prevented us from putting out the awning, and from pulling through the site, since we would have hit the rear of the trailer making the turn out of the site. Had to back out of the site downhill. Glad I had 4WD. Won't come back here. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We camped here for one night on our way to our final destination. Park attendant acted as if we were bothering him and then proceeded to take us to our site - and I use the word "site" loosely. Basically we were just off the road near the lake, we seemed to be a source of entertainment for the locals - as we settled in - including the park attendant who stayed around and drank beer and smoked cigs with his pals - the permanent residents. We were barely off the road and felt very uncomfortable and unsafe all night. Morning revealed a very dirty, stinky lake. Other people's kids everywhere except at their sites. Very bad experience and was ready to pull out ASAP the next morning. Do not recommend to anyone! Why would Good Sam's lend their name to such a place? We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Where do we start ? This campground was quite expensive considering we even received a "teacher's weekend" discount. There are many activities for kids: game room, huge pool, (which is also the "community" pool), jumping pillow, etc. Bingo night was fun. On the other hand, it was not very well maintained. We arrived to a fire pit full of trash. We went to sit on the sun deck only to have my daughter trip over one of the pieces of wood that was sticking up. She ended up with a bleeding knee! There were several spots on the deck that were loose or sticking up! The trash cans around the pool stayed full (and overflowing) until Sunday morning, (all weekend basically). Smoking is permitted everywhere: pool, game room (with kids), pavilion (during bingo), etc. Most sites are mostly dirt with a mix of gravel: very messy. There are many "permanent" residents that make the campground look rundown. This place could be really nice if more care was taken in keeping it up. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
My husband, daughter and I stayed at Midway for a few days before the 4th of July. We have 3 poodles that camp with us also. This CG is in very good condition. The staff was great and very courteous. We actually stayed here twice. One of our stays was lake front and our site had a deck and we had no problems leveling our travel trailer. The pool is one of the nicest ones I have ever seen in a CG. The mini golf is a bit run down, not sure how well it plays, we didn't do any of the activities, except swimming. If you are located at the bottom of the hill, do watch out for snakes. We saw snakes on each of trips there. Be sure to walk around the road and not cut up the hill. All in all we would stay there again! We had a great time! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Bathrooms were very bad, the roads are very bad, there are a lot of seasonal campers with lots of junk on their sites. The exit road is a steep climb with a very tight corner. I had problems with my 28ft trailer to get out. It is for sure over rated in the big Good Sam's book. The "permanent" campers were weird looking and my wife didn't felt safe.. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here during the winter for 4 months, but also for one night on the return trip south. Some spaces are tight, but it's a good spot on I40 because it feels safe even for long term. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed there twice during August 2006. Both times we had a nice lake site. The first time with patio overlooking the lake. The second time just overlooking the lake. Wi-fi was very good and free with the site. The only negative was that it rained really hard the second time we were there and the site was muddy due to drainage from the hill above. Not a big deal. We will stay here again. They were very nice. Had a nice play area for the children, good pool. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
After arriving and paying for 5 nights,we were taken to a spot without grass, just dirt, under the trees. It had been raining and the ground was soggy. The site was very unattractive. At night it rained again, resulting in a disaster area of our site. We were standing ankle deep in the mud. We decided to pull out because there was no other site available according to the park attendant. Before leaving I went to the office and informed the attendant of the site situation. His comment was: "We had a lot of rain". Then I mentioned that I had paid for 5 nights, and only stayed for one, because of the condition of the site. His only answer was:"UH-HU". Needless to say, we will never go there again, and we will not recommend this place to anyone. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We had a pull through site which was fairly level and shaded. The hook ups were in a convenient location. The guy that led us to our site was not very helpful and in a bad mood. We had to move our MH from where he originally had us park otherwise our door would open up right into a tree and we would not be able to use our awning. We had enough shade from the trees around our site so we did not use the awning anyway. I'd rate this campground a little above average. It is an older campground that needs some updating. They have a nice fishing lake, horse shoe pits, badmitten nets, basketball court, playground, jumping pillow, game room, and a very old miniature golf course. The pool was not open yet but it looked nice. The bath house needed to be cleaned when I used it. There are a lot of seasonal sites. Since we could not use many of the amenities because of the time of year, I thought they were overpriced. And I despise campgrounds that charge extra if you have an air conditioner. With the exception of a few pop up campers, there are few RV's with out air conditioning. Just build it into the price instead of irritating people with an extra charge. Because of the weather, we did not have to run our's at all but still had to pay an extra $2 a day. And after charging that fee, they have the audacity to have in their rules to be conservative with your air conditioning. We had no problems with noise from people or cows. It was very quiet and peaceful. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Its fairly nice. The COWS down the road were crazy! In the middle of the night you would hear Moo, so loud the sound goes though a hard sided trailer. The bathrooms are old and the gravel roads wash away when it rains. Nice for a short visit. The cool part was the jumping pillow, it was really fun. Bunch of permanent sites though. Might stay again if we are in the area for a short amount of time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
I thought it was a great campground if you have small children and like to fish. The staff was very helpful and kind. The pool was clean and well maintained. The pond they had for fishing was small, but adequate for the size of the campground. It was very quiet and there was very little traffic. They escorted you to your site which I thought was nice, and seemed to make the effort to give you a site large enough for your camper. They have activities every Saturday night during the summer. I guess Bingo is played every Sat night. We were close to the pavilion and I didn't find it disruptive or loud at all. They strictly enforce the 11:00-7 quiet time, so we had a restful 2 nights. I wouldn't recommend this campground if you are looking for a lot of activities, but for a few days of relaxation it is nice. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This is probably a great place if you have kids and stay in the summer. In the dead of winter, however, we felt that it's terribly overpriced. Well maintained, but sites are not level at all, and a bit close together. Lots of permanent trailers parked here, but most are kept up well, and don't look like trailer trash. We didn't know how to get to the only other CG in the area, or would definitely have checked it out for a quick overnight, rather than pay the somewhat exorbitant fee here. We camped here in a Motorhome.

A nice little friendly campground, they don't give the best sites to the "fulltimers" so you get the "pond" sites if available. It rained the two days we were here, but we can't control the rain. We did NOT have a mud problem. Campgrounds are "outdoors." Sure this one might not be great for "big rigs" but if you want a nice quiet place to drown a few worms, take a dip in the pool or sit by a campfire, this is it! We camped here in a Motorhome.

We just camped at Midway a couple of weeks ago, we were very disappointed. We couldn't use our awning, a tree was just feet from our door, the sites were dirt and gravel, it rained the whole time there, so was a issue of tracking mud in our unit and vehicle. The sites were very unlevel We Will probably not go back again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

They rented us a site for our 30 foot motorhome where our door opened onto the campground road. No room for awning or gas grill, unless you wanted to risk getting it hit by a vehicle. Had to walk across this drive to get to our picnic table that everyone seemed to think was a common area. When we complained, we were offered a tight site where we could not open our slide (Take a choice!) We and our little dog had to look both ways when going outside.(Very dangerous) They allow arriving campers to be setting up at midnight. Hammering stakes and all. Loud music and drunks party until 2:30am.(No problem for them) Lots of less than desirable permanent sites. If you are in this area, avoid this place. We camped here in a camper.
