This is a nice park. There are paved level sites that easily accomodate our 40 foot rig with plenty of room for the toad. The hookups are conveniently located, are modern, and work well. The park is extremely well maintained. Others have mentioned the airport noise, but we did not find it loud enough to be objectionable. This is a good park to stay in, but there does not seem to be many residents out during the weekday --- probably working, so there is not much chance to visit with others --- not a problem, but not much chance to socialize. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a decent park and we stay here for several months each year for work. We love the staff and the location. They are adding new spots which look nice but maybe smaller. The only thing we don't like is large amount of permanent dwellers but then we are here four months each year so I guess we are part of the group. Definitely would stay here again. Nightly rate reflects monthly rate we paid. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very clean park that only has two disadvantages. First, it is underneath the departure path of an international airport. Second, the sites are too close together. On the other hand, Portland is a great place to spend a few days. Go to Voo Doo Doughnuts and get a devilish treat. Take a bike ride along the Columbia River right from the campground. Drive about 20 miles east on I-5 for some of the best waterfalls in the U.S. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice staff, paved roads and pads, cable, small bit of grass. Bathrooms are ok, dog area is across the street in a house's yard. Very odd. NO bikes allowed in the park, no pool. The airport is VERY close and all large jets fly overhead repeatedly. Nice, but only for short stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.

While this is a very clean park with well maintained grounds and facilities the sites are narrow, there are no shade trees and it has no personality. Many of the guests are full timers here for a while and are not very tolerant of those just passing through. Now for the noise, one plane was so low it shook the rv and there were more then a dozen flights between 6 and 7am, the first one at precisely 6am woke me up. We will not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Long walk to showers, laundry. WiFi service questionable for reliability, noisy due to PDX air traffic, nothing to do. Not a place for kids, vacation, just a place to sleep. Next time we just drive on through Portland. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a nice park and well maintained, but we had some issues with it. First, the bathrooms and laundry are located near the entrance, so are not convenient and centrally located. And there is only 1 bathroom for the whole park. There are grass between the sites, but the sites are still fairly close and there are no picnic tables. Our site had a small fence protecting a wet area right at the entrance to our site. We had quite the time pulling the 40' motorhome into the site since on the other side was the tall pipe for the utilities. It took us several tries to get the right angle. The other problem was with the slides out, we couldn't park the car in the spot provided and had to wedge that in as best we could. There are many long-term residents, but they do keep up their areas. This place was OK for a few days , but I wouldn't want to stay much longer than that. Rate reflects Good Sam/AAA rate. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Kind of an unusual park for a few reasons. There are zero amenities in the park. It is really just a place to hook up the RV. Even though the Columbia River is across the street from the park, there is no way to easily get to it. The only access point is a yacht club across the street and it's gated. The dog walk area is also across the street from the park. It is a large tree, but is appears to be next to a private residence. You are directed to it when you check in at the office. On the positive side, the grass at the park is green and neatly trimmed. Good for an access point to see Portland, but not much else. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The park is well maintained and orderly. The sites are concrete pads that are perfectly level. We were a late check-in and the available sites were clearly posted. We had to telephone the emergency number on the office for the rest room codes. Wi-Fi is not available to late check-ins. Other than that the park is pleasant and the long term guests friendly. It was far enough from the airport that the departing planes were fun to watch. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I'll split the difference between the last review and the ones previous. The park is well maintained, well landscaped and clean. Site is level (158 )with adequate room between sites, although not a lot of free space. Sites were easily accessible. I'd have rated it higher, except for the intermittent Wi-Fi that kept quitting, required a log in each time it quit and restarted, and had a lack of speed monitoring. I felt like I was near a race track the way many cars ignored the 10 MPH limit. I in spite of all we would return. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Poor management. We arrived on Sunday: they don't work on Sundays. The water at the site was not turned on. No Wi-Fi, because they were not working. No access to the showers or bathrooms: again, because they do not work on Sundays. The RV park is for long term, rich RV'ers. The park was almost full. The grass was due for a cut, but other than that, the park is clean and well maintained. The sites are close together. No picnic tables. Small trees on some sites. Level, concrete pad for parking the RV and vehicle. RV park is big rig friendly and easy to navigate. Airplane noise is noticeable but did not bother us during the night. It is a short walk to the river. Nightly rate is $32. Good Sam and AAA members: $30. $10 to wash RV at site. $5 to wash car at site. Staff was friendly when they are around, but not helpful, work very limited hours and provide no information unless you are able to call them. We would not stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very neat park with easy access to the Portland area. All pads are concrete. The interior roads are blacktopped. The park is designed so it’s easy to park your rig and one other vehicle. There are many long-term residents, but this did not detract from the park’s overall appearance. Everyone, including the office staff, was very friendly. There was airport and road noise, but this did not bother us. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Really convenient park for Portland visit. Park is 1-1/2 miles from Expo Line which is the light rail line serving all of the area. Excellent parking at Expo Line. The park is 1-1/2 miles west of Salty's restaurant with great seafood and view of the Columbia River. The river is across the street from the park and the park is very close to Columbia River bike-ped path entrances. Nice grass between sites. Wi-Fi worked great. Good restrooms and laundry facilities. We were gone during day and did not notice any air traffic from airport at night. We did not travel with pets but there were many in the park. There are two off leash dog parks a short ride from the RV park that we noticed each day as we left the park. We plan to use this park again as a base. The office staff were very helpful. Would have rated as a 10 but the trees need to grow a bit bigger for more shade. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Many permanents. Fairly large sites. Wi-Fi iffy, at best. Need to walk dogs OUTSIDE of the park. Laundry room does not open until 9 am. No dog pens on grass. Only asset was the resident dog walker, who was a delight. Very close to shopping and Portland attractions. If you have no pets and no kids, you might like this campground. Location is handy to hwys and freeways; located out of town a little. We could hear planes taking off but didn't seem to mind or bother especially during the night. Park was clean, asphalt roads, concrete level pads, grass between and spaced nice. Appeared 'long-term stays' in some areas but all were friendly. Laundry facility and had a separate washer/dryer for pet bedding: which you don't see often and was really a nice feature for us. Wi-Fi and cable TV worked good. Close enough for activities in Portland and would stay here again definitely. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

I stayed in this park for 32 days while working in Portland. I am from Alaska. The park is clean and well kept up. Staff is friendly and helpful. It is not that quiet, though, because the park is near a major highway as well as in the flight line of Portland International Airport. Otherwise, the park is great and very convenient to downtown Portland as well as Swan Island where I was working. I will stay there again should my business bring me to Portland. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Office staff were friendly and helpful. Rate reflects Good Sam discount. The park appears to be mostly long term "residents" rather than short term RVrs. However it doesn't have the feel that many parks like that have. The park was clean and not overly cluttered. I don't understand why one reviewer states the sites are short as we had a pull through that accommodated our 37' motorhome AND our toad vehicle (Jeep Liberty) with room to spare. Each site is also double wide at the front so a 2nd car, boat or utility trailer can be parked in your site if need be. As stated before the "pet area" is a small lot across the street from the park and is not real nice. As long as you are a responsible bet owner and clean up after your pet, walking them inside the park was fine. Wi-Fi was $4.95/24 hours and worked extremely well. Sites are paved, large, level and had grass. Unlike the parks on the Vancouver side of the river, here you can open your awning without hitting your neighbors rig. No large trees=great satellite reception. I would have rated this higher if not for being so close to the airport and because noise from distant trains can be heard throughout the night. We would stay here again while visiting friends and family in Portland. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects weekly rate. Very friendly and helpful staff, I felt welcomed the moment I walked in. Dog friendly park, although no pet area within park (public dog park nearby). They do, however, have a designated "Pet Bedding" washer/dryer in the laundry room which is very rare and appreciated. Large pull through sites with grass and shade trees. Great location for exploring Portland and although the airport is nearby the air traffic was heaviest during the day and didn't bother us at all. We would stay here again. I stayed at this park a week and had no complaints. A few people earlier mentioned the jet noise from the airport ... there are jets to be sure, but to my taste it wasn't excessive. PDX is not O'Hare or Hartsfield, after all, and besides, I'll take an occasional jet overhead to constant freeway traffic noise any day. The park is about 15 minutes from downtown Portland, and situated in a mostly residential area across the street from the Columbia River, but unfortunately there are no river views due to foliage and buildings. The sites are concrete with grassy areas and are plenty wide enough, but a little short, which gave the streets a bit of a claustrophobic feel to me. But everything was clean and well-maintained, and the folks in the office were friendly and helpful. The Wi-Fi is $15/week, which I don't mind paying as long as it works well, which it did. Do be careful pulling out onto the main street from the park. There's a blind curve and people drive much too fast for it, as the layers of tire skid marks on the pavement will attest. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Great stay. Only stayed one night on our way to Olympic NP from the Redwoods. Received a call on our way up from the park to confirm arrival time. Since we were getting there late he took our credit card info and let us know which site to pull into. Park was quiet, clean and the sites very level. Used the shower and laundry facilities which were excellent. The airport is near but not a problem with sleeping. If you have time try Voodoo doughnuts - two locations. Can't miss with the maple bar with bacon on top! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

So the deal here is location, location, location to Portland and Washington. Except for being at the end of the PDX runway. I think I would stay south of Portland the next time. Spent 3 months here through the summer. Rate based on monthly charage of $400. Park is clean and well maintained. Landscapers work daily. Only draw back is airline noise since park is located about 2 miles from the end of a runway. Would rate higher if not for noise and there's not many amenities (no pool or playground for kids). One thing you must remember, this is a city RV park. Sure there are noises (in this case airplane), but like any city, you get used to them. We never felt unsafe (and we walked the dogs around the neighborhood), and the place was very clean. This is another of those parks (seems to be a growing list) that has many working people living there. In this case they were very friendly, offering suggestions where to go and what to see, and kept their places very tidy and clean. We would come back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very tidy place, immaculately kept. Level concrete pads and lush grass strips between sites. Newspaper on site. A pretty good location. The only downsides: The wireless (WiFi) varies in speed from slow DSL (top end) to dial-up speeds. This would not be so bad, but it cost $5 a day! No picnic tables at sites. Airport noise can be distracting (conversations outside suffer from the Portland Pause). We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I've repeatedly stayed here over the last two years. Spent the winter of 08/09 here, which was the worst Portland had seen in 40 years. This is by far the nicest park in the Portland/suburban area with easy access for big rigs. Mine is 70 feet bumper to bumper. Roads are wide and paved. Management is more than helpful and always friendly. Neighbors are friendly and fun. If you don't like noisy jets, this isn't the place for you. It's under the westerly approach and take off of the international airport. Commercial aircraft run most hours and military jets take off and land a few times each day. Occasionally you get to see one stand on its tail and shoot straight up. Easy access to the city. Great access for bicycling; Portland is a friendly biking city. It's across the street from the Columbia River and within a mile from a beach. Great restaurants nearby. Close to the commuter rail service. The place is well groomed and kept that way. There's a dedicated spot for dogs to do their business. A fenced dog park is a mile away and an arboretum is about a 1/2 mile away. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very noisy from planes, trucks, trains and park traffic. Parking next to monthly's will all their junk wasn't to exciting. Nothing to do, dirty rec room and kitchen, minimal exercise room, washing machines not emptied when completed and Wi-Fi that goes on and off. If your looking for comfort, quiet, resort setting, this isn't the place. If your a construction worker, this is the place. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a great campground if you need a home base while touring Portland. Yes, the aircraft are noisy but they quit at night. There are lean restrooms and facilities and very helpful management staff. Rate reflects monthly rate. Stayed here for our second spring. Noise levels are very high. Between the 18 wheelers, Portland airport and National Guard F 16's, it is very noisy. Verizon aircard signal is very weak and dropped frequently. The Wi-Fi offered is a daily charge by a provider. All that being said, this is one of the best parks in the area. Sites are large and there are large grass areas between concrete pads. Few amenities, no pool or activities. Rec room kitchen is dirty with dishes. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for several months when first coming to the Portland area. This park is across the street from the Portland Yacht Club. Spaces are level and fairly large. Room for our 40' motorhome and two vehicles. There wasn't wifi access that we know of but since we were staying for a few months we went ahead and made the easy call to the phone company and the local cable company and had cable internet at our site within 2 days. The staff at this park are very friendly and we will surely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very clean park with fairly wide sites. There was room in the pull through sites for our 42' fifth wheel, dually TV and extra car. There is lots of grass between sites, level sites. We didn't notice much noise after sunset. We didn't find access difficult but don't try to get to 13th street from Gertz St. There's a concrete island that you can't negotiate with a rig of any size. Very clean park, and good access to a great bike route along the river. But being right under the flight path was noisy during the day, though traffic noise from the road was minimal. The Wifi connection was not free, and using our AirCard we had a very slow connection. We stayed here through summer. The sites are large with plenty of grass. Large trucks traveling along road are quite noisy. There is an airport near by and planes taking off overhead are very distracting with National Guard flights being the worst. There is no pool and very few amenities. No free WiFi . No way can you see or hear the river from here. Access is very difficult, off a residential street. Half the residents are permanent with yard decor exceptions made for them. Change for laundry not is provided anywhere on site and no one has suggestions where to find change except to canvass neighbors! No convenience store nearby. Ice was not available. They do let you leave your rental car with them for pickup. No dog walk area provided; must leave the park. Otherwise very clean. Just expect clean showers and park, flat sites and no amenities or helpfulness. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very clean and nicely laid out place to stay. There aren't a lot of trees nor is there a pool. The sites are mostly large and well spaced with lawn in between the concrete pads. Being in busy air traffic corridor to Portland International Airport you can expect to hear lots of aircraft noise. The Oregon National Guard makes the ground shake when they take off daily. I spent 3 years in this park while working in Portland. I should add I like the sound of jets and the air traffic is not bad at night. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We used an AAA discount for a 4 day stay. There are wide asphalt streets and wide level concrete pads which are easy to enter and to exit. There are 12 feet of luxurious grass lawn between sites. We are full timers; this is one of the nicest RV parks we have ever been to. The sewer hookups are at the rear edge of the sites; we used 20 feet of hose to connect. Now a few words about the airport; the park is near the landing and takeoff pattern of a very busy airport. On a Sunday afternoon and evening we timed takeoffs at every 2 minutes for 4 hours. On two of our 4 days four fighters took off in mid-morning--they sure make a lovely racket. We did not find the airport noise bothersome during the night. We like airplanes, like to watch them take off and land. We thought the gardener's leaf blower on Monday morning was more annoying than the airplanes; they should give him a rake, broom and hose instead. Maybe that's the price for having such nice lawns. We are giving the park a 10 rating as an RV park; readers should subtract from our rating according to how much they are bothered by airport noise. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We found the park was now under new management that was very friendly and helpful. We know changes can cause glitchs, but none are in this report. The restrooms/showers were very clean. The landscape people were always at work keeping the park very clean. There is airplane noise, but its almost all gone evening to morning. Close travel to Portland or Vancouver. Quiet and peaceful. We stayed here for 16 nights, the park is very clean and well kept. We did read some of the past reviews and found that there were no current problems. The sites are larger with concrete pads and grass to enjoy. There is a lack of area for recreation as far as kids go. The laundry facilities are very large and reasonable. We have family across the river, but visited all the other campgrounds in the area and found this one to be the best. Very close to everything. The airplanes do make some noise at times, especially when the fighters take off, but none of this is heard during the nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Park is very clean. The park is located near the Portland Airport and airplane noise is a problem at times. The Laundry Room is clean and fairly modern, but a little small for a park this size and is very busy on nights and weekends since the park is mainly working people (not recreational). I read the review re: thefts & asked the office about it - the mgr says there was one incident some time back where multiple campers had stuff stolen the same night, it wasn't many separate occasions. I want to warn others that consider staying at the Columbia River RV Park to be aware that this park has had a large number of thefts over the last few years. There is no gate to protect those staying at the park from anyone entering the park at anytime. They have no form of security on at anytime. The thefts have continued to increase over time. My wife had her APRO electric scooter (valued at $700.00) stolen from our site. The scooter was chained to our motor home with a 3/8 inch chain and locked. When I reported it to the Portland police they informed me that this was the sixth theft report from campers at the park. Everyone staying here needs to understand that the management has no concern for protecting the resident from this kind of activity. The management at this park has stated that he will not accept responsibility for any thing stolen from the resident. So be prepared for the worst or stay somewhere else until the management accepts the fact that he has a responsibility to provide security for the campers at his park. We camped here in a Motorhome.

When I checked into the park I had to pay $35 for a credit check even though I was paying cash in advance for the month. I was stupid to agree but my wife was tired and we didn’t want to drive to Vancouver where they have a nice RV park that is well run. About two months later I was the victim of an identity theft crime. I thought it was suspicious but what could I prove. Recently I met another motorhome owner who had exactly the same experience after allowing these people access to their credit report. Do not stay at this park. To top it off I found out when your credit is checked your credit rating goes down. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an extremely wellkept RV park. The restrooms were immaculate (cleaned twice a day). The lady in the office was cheerful and quite helpful. The meeting room contains a listing and directions for nearby supermarkets, Walmarts, etc. It is located approx. 10 minutes from downtown Portland. We are already planning to return for another week next month. One of the cleanest parks we've ever stayed in. Even though it is close to Portland International Airport the noise from the planes was minimal. I would recommend this park for anyone wanting to spend some time in Portland. Customer service at this park is non-existant. I spent 6 months at this park while on a job assignment in the area. First you are required to pay an electric deposit and fill out a form so that a credit/criminal check could be run. Fine, nothing wrong so far. However, when I went to leave, any record of my deposit suddenly disappeared. This organization charges for everything and there is no way something like a deposit would get by them. So I'm SOL there. Next I asked for the return of my credit report (the company expects to keep them for a period of 2 years) or at least for someone to shred it as I would not be returning. I was told that this was "none of my business." In this day and age of identity theft I found this to be wholly irresponsible especially considering that the manager shares with her staff the contents of said reports (the juicier the better) and leaves them in an unlocked drawer. Their only concern here is to get your money & write new rules. If you like customer service...don't stay here, because the customer is never right. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very noisy park with little to no privacy. Being so close to Portland Airport there are commercial planes flying over from 6 am to midnight, including fighter jets that will knock you out of your seat. Plus there are new homes going up at the south end of park. There is only a chain link fence separating the park from the new development where construction workers can watch you enjoy your BBQ. We actually stayed here for 5 months while working in the area, and have a different perspective than someone staying the weekend. The campground is nice for an overnighter. Here are some issues to consider: there is no refund, no way, no how, even in medical emergencies. If you overpaid for anything, you won't be told. And you will be nickel and dimed for everything. There is no working phone booth (you will be told to walk 1/2 mile to the corner store), no store, the restrooms were frequently dirty and there are no accommodations for children. Plus, the hours for the rec room and laundry room seem to change weekly and the single modem hookup is in the rec/workout room. During a recent ice storm, the management did NOTHING to help clear sites, clear walkways, or thaw park pipes. Campers were slipping and falling all over the park. It was a disgrace. We will never come back here and suggest if you do stay, make it a short stay in good weather. We camped here in a Motorhome.

If you're looking for a long term stay RV Park, Island Cove is one of the few you'll find for under $500 a month in the Portland area that have monthly rates available (Multnomah County actually has a law not allowing extended stays at RV Parks). The closer together front side-sites are 30 amp and $350 a month, the back, more spaced out sites with the concrete pads and 50 amp service, "Premium" as the previous reviewer called them, are $400 a month. The park does have Wi-Fi, however, the speed can be hit and miss as its satellite based (No wired High Speed is available past the County Line). We camped here in a Truck Camper.

We did not stay here. We didn't have reservations, called and spoke to on-site manager who was very helpful and had a couple of open sites. We pulled in and were somewhat put off. Appears mostly long term residents, some sites were junky and on lawn area. The premium sites were cleaner with newer units on concrete pads but none available when we needed to stay. We didn't actually stay here, but drove up to see if it is a possibility next time we come to Sauvie Island. Its a nice clean campground. The RV sites were close together, but adequate. It also has tents and yurts to rent. Its across from the Yacht Club on a small inlet and about 2 miles from the public beach. Spaces were not as far apart as at Reeder's, but less permanent residents. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park is not as it claims. They are on the river, but the only spots by the river are permanent spots. It is noisy! Planes, trains, boats, cars etc. These old women are in the pool making a ton of noise rain or shine, no matter the temperature. This is not country living in the city, this is city living! It is not safe at all. Crazy drivers out on the road passing by, one crashed into a transformer, homeless people frequently wander through here it is scary. Park was nicely maintained and clean, restroom were stocked, and clean. We had interaction with 2 staff members, one was very friendly, the other acted as tho we were bothering her. As others have stated the park is very load due to being located on the Portland Airport flightpath. The majority of people in the park were long-term residents who acted as tho you were in their way. The one next to us stayed up late, partied, drank, slammed car doors until 2 am. I encountered one young couple showering together in the male showers, they acted as tho I was at fault for bothering them. Wi-Fi was very spotty. For an urban park, the location is great for exploring everything from downtown to Multnomah Falls. About 2/3 of the park is filled with permanent residents. Paved roads and paved, level sites are a plus, although the sites are a bit on the narrow side. Water, sewer, and electric hookups are well placed. Wi-Fi was pretty good. We have stayed here before and have had good experiences, BUT this time was different. We got there and asked for one of the several sites we had stayed in before and was told they weren't available and she put us in one next to them. Well,no-one showed in them for two days. The site she gave us had a tight entrance between a concrete power box on one side and a tree and pole on the other. I checked the tree and watched the box to make sure the toad cleared it,which it did barely, but missed the three inch limb stub on the tree and got the mirror, oops. Got in and hooked up and the power box took several attempts to get 50 amp power and I finally turned on ALL the circuit breakers and Voila, I had power. Tried the internet and that was a no-go uh-uh, no-way anytime. The neighbors all said the same thing and that it's been that way for AT LEAST three months. The office said that they'd check the box, but that didn't work.. Oh and guess who was parked RIGHT UNDER the wi-fi box. Told the office about the tree and there wasn't really any response, except they'd look into it. The guy in the next site said that one trailer had caught it already, two months ago and there had been two MHs that had taken their mirrors off too. The limb is very hard to see as it blends in with the tree. I do like the place, but the management was not very forthcoming and I may stay here again, but in a different site. We were here during fall colors. It is a large-capacity park, but the trees make it beautiful and not seem so crowded. Staff was helpful. We were in Site 958 near the back of the park so the Wi-Fi was marginal. Verizon service was good. Bathrooms were 6 of 10. We were certainly disappointed to have our bikes (which were new, we'd ridden them twice) stolen from our site on the second of our two night stay. Guess we will lock the bikes as we do our generators. The staff was apologetic and a woman from the park "walk patrol" came around to interview us. Sad that there is still so much more work to do to raise some people to a higher level of living with their fellow humans. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Beware that their weekly rate can be had for staying a week, but their monthly rate (even if just staying a single month) requires that you fill out an eight page application that includes providing them with previous years tax returns, etc. We signed up for a month, but ended up paying the weekly rate because we were not willing to provide the kind of info they required. Would have been fine it it listed it on their web site and spelled out their requirements, we just wanted to stay for 30 days and made a reservation based on that rate and their comments on the phone about getting that rate. We ended up having to pay the weekly rate for four weeks, which is much more expensive. It's a fine park...lots of noise from trains, plains, etc, but it is convenient to town and nicely laid out. The local guy who will offer to wash your rig for $35 does an amazing job. Just don't try to stay for 30 days for the rate they quote you. We paid $23/night when they quoted us $12.50/night. We only stayed here one night but we were impressed with the facilities, maintenance and cleanliness. Staff were friendly and helpful. Only downside was Wi-fFi was intermittent during the evening. Yes, there is some noise. You do hear the odd airplane, train or boat whistle, but it is in the heart of the city. We were able to cycle on nice, well-signed bike paths from the RV Park to the Max (light rail line) and travel quickly into the downtown where there are numerous bike friendly streets and a nice waterfront route. You can buy an all day transit ticket for $5 and the trains have bike hangers on board. We camped here in a Motorhome.

As other have said there is airport noise, railroad noise and road noise. For the most part at night we did not have any problems with noise but it was there during the day. Pull through spots are very narrow but long I had to move the picnic table to the very edge of the spot to walk past my trailer with comfort. What really bothered me about this park was security or lack of it. There is no fence around the park, and in addition, it shares roads with a mobile home park. Anyone can walk off the street to the RVs on the entire perimeter of the park. Some of the spots back onto the street making it about 10 steps from the sidewalk to anything left out. I noticed locals rummaging through the dumpsters and recycle bins for recyclables to cash in. This was a park where I was glad to have a locking chock, hitch lock, and lock on my surge guard. This seems to be a great park if you want to back into your pad, not so much for the limited number of pull throughs. The pull through pads particularly in the center of the pull through section, are very narrow especially if you have slides on both sides of your coach. Plus, the hook ups are in the far back end of the pad, so you may need an extension for your sewer if your coach has a hook up in the middle or front of the coach. There is also a section of back-ins in the front of the park, where you are rear bumper to bumper with the guy in back of you. I would look at the map of the park before you book a spot. The airplane and train noise is going to be here because you’re near the airport and tracks, but based on the high occupancy of RVers that seem to be here for an extended period of time, most people seem to learn to live with it. Plus the airplane noise seems to be a function of the weather. During cloud cover you’re going to get more noise. This park is clean, well maintained, and very nicely landscaped. The park has free cable TV and Wi-Fi which work well. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

We came down for the weekend as our daughter will be attending college in Portland. It has good freeway access, and plenty of stores and shopping in the area. The office staff was very friendly and helpful, and check in was a breeze. The grounds are very well kept, as are the pool facilities and restrooms (according to my wife; I didn't actually use them). The sites are relatively spacious, and there's plenty of grass and room to move around outside our trailer. I almost passed on this park because of previous reviews. I am so glad that I didn't. The location is good. A short drive to Portland Downtown and the "interesting things" to see. It is true that arriving in Portland during rush hour is a problem, and rush hour begins at 2:30. All traffic is eventually routed onto a limited number of bridges, which will cause delays. However, prior to 4:00, the delay isn't long. Jensen's is a pleasing park. Lots of grass, three pools, a reasonable gym, and nice people to welcome you. Very nice place for dog walking. I do not notice a noise problem. I was there for two nights, Friday and Saturday. Train whistles can be heard, starting about 9:30PM. The last was at 11:30 PM on Friday and there were very few prior to that. I didn't notice any road noise at all during my entire stay. There are long term RVers. However, there are none of the problems we associate with that description. This park is well managed, well maintained, and a great place to stay, long term or just overnight. My motorhome is 42'. I tow a car, and had no problem maneuvering within the park. I would have rated this park a 10, but for the poor Wi-Fi. I will definitely make a reservation at this park for my next trip to Portland. While the campground was clean, although we did not use any of the facilities, the noise at night was unbearable. So glad we were only staying one night. When we booked we were told they had plenty of spots and we would have a pull-through. Not only did we not get a pull through, the park appeared fairly full. We stayed here as our favorite RV park in the area is now closed. I was kind of worried about traffic as we wanted to go to L&C college area and the Terwilliger area, but it really turned out ok. Just don't try to get in and out of town during rush hour, but we did find a couple of alternates. The park is very nice and easy to get to and around in. The Good: The sites across from the office are level and grassy, access is easy and quick, right off of I-5. Easy access to Vancouver and Portland. Staff was friendly enough when I went in to pay. The not so good: If you arrive after business hours there is no self check in. The office is only open from 9 to 5 so if you arrive late and leave early, I guess you don't pay, more of an issue for the park than the RVer I guess. Sign on the desk in the office says they don't accept cash (I thought that was against federal law as paper money says "for all debts public and private" on it, but I digress. If you don't use checks or carry a credit card I guess you are out of luck. However, the noise has to be the worst issue and is out of the park's control. The airport gets very few flights after 11pm, and we heard no trains, but as the park is right on a street with lots of traffic and shares a driveway with a trailer park where they must issue one of those raspy, loud, obnoxious mufflers to every resident on move in, it is hard to get a quiet night's sleep. We stayed at another RV park which is within a stones throw from the end of the runway at Portland airport and it was much quieter. If you need a place to stay for a night, it will do, but if you don't need hookups, stay across the street in the mall parking lot for free and be on your way early. Price reflected a 10% Good Sam discount. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nicely, manicured sites with bushes, grass, and picnic table. Wi-fi signal was good at times and slow at others. We were in the back of the lot (pull through sites), and there were lots of full timers. They were nice, but they smoke and walk their dogs often. Sites and roads are asphalt. Most sites were level and large enough to accommodate slides and awnings. Showers were hot and mostly clean. Laundry facility was priced well and was clean. Staff was nice. Great location, easy to get to, and very close to the outdoor mall. This park allows you to wash your vehicle on site. Trains can be heard in the distance, but we did not find them bothersome. Planes can be heard also, but they did not bother us at night. The only very loud planes are the military planes, and they didn't fly all that frequently during our 5 day stay. However, they can be extremely loud and did rattle the RV on the 2 occasions, during the day time of our stay. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We stayed here from Thanksgiving night to Sunday. Wife wanted quick/close launch off for Portland Black Friday sales. 2nd time here, don't know why people complain about noise from trains and planes. It is impossible to sleep here. The trains blow their horns ALL night long about hourly, and you are in a flight pattern right under the jets. We tried to get refunded for the 2nd night after we explained the problem, and there was NO sympathy. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a good park to stay at if your frame of mind is to get out during the day and sightsee which there is plenty to do of in Portland. Small sites, decent bathrooms, but not quiet because of the nearby Portland airport, also trains. Did not bother us. Shopping right across the street. Very convenient to either drive into downtown Portland or take the train system nearby. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy access park adjacent to mfg home lot. Place is clean, with two pools. Grass and picnic tables at each site. Good satellite reception. Poor to fair (free) WiFi. Positives: Clean, well maintained park. Clean laundry room. Walk to major department store. 2 pools. Close to walking areas(got info from maintenance man). About 5 miles from train into city. Negatives: Rude office staff - don't ask for suggestions or help about anything. Park located under airport flight path, trains and river boats run all night. Noisy all the time. This campground is near the city...it is very noisy but you become accustomed and it is not the campground's fault. Planes (F-15s occasionally), trains, and cars and boats/ships. Quite a lot to see...nice walking path along the river near the mobile home park. Biggest complaint is poor Internet service, goes out when people log on in eves, etc. The staff are not warm and fuzzy but you only have to deal with them once(at check in) then they don't bother you. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is by far the absolute worst place we have been. The staff couldn't have cared less, to say they were unfriendly is itself a gross understatement. We had planned to stay for a month and because of that, we were put in their long term area which was terribly run down and less than desirable. We paid for two nights, stayed only one and moved on. It's a great location, but a horrible park with people that really just don't care. Need I say, we will never return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is not a bad value for the money. It is very handy to City Center Portland and has a good public transportation system. The park is noisy from the sounds of boats, trains and planes. Bring some ear plugs for nightime sleeping and you will be fine. It is hard to find a good place to walk the dog, but we found an industrial area down the main road, past the park. We found everything clean and well maintained and would camp here again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

This was our first time here in about 10 years - it was not nearly as built up back then (no mall across the street). In-spite of some of the poor reviews given this park earlier in the year, we decided to stay here for the weekend since the main complaint (urban noise - trains, planes, and automobiles) does not bother us. The park has good facilities (FHU, 2 pools, limited cable, Wi-Fi, and adequate sites). Our main problem was that we had requested a roof satellite friendly site at the time we made our reservation and reiterated this request when we checked in. Our site was between two 30" trees and we could not get reception. We asked for another site (a number of more "open to the SW sky" sites were in our row). We were told the sites were booked. By the time we left on Sunday morning, at least 2 of these "open" had been vacant all weekend. It appeared that we were lied to and the staff was too lazy to do what little work it would have been to let us switch sites. Not good customer service. As big as this place is, there are not that many sites for over nighters in season. Most sites appear to be seasonal or extended stay (that's not counting the large "trailer" park next to the RV park). We camped here in a Motorhome.

Nice campground. It is part of a larger manufactured home park, but they are very nice and very well kept. The RV Park is separate from the rest of the mobile home park. The rate is per night for a week. We paid $169 for the week. I would certainly stay here again. The only negative is the air traffic. This park is relatively close to the airport. You do hear the airplanes taking off and landing, but I would not let that stop me from staying again. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects weekly rate. We have enjoyed staying at this park for 10 of the past 12 years during the Portland Rose Festival in May and June. It is located on Hayden Island in the Columbia River. The grounds are attractive and well cared for. There is aircraft noise during the day and railroad noise some nights. A short walk across the street is Jantzen Beach Super Center with some 30 stores currently open. Safeway is a short drive away on the island. A paved river front trail in the adjoining Mobile Home Park gives spectacular views of Mount Hood, Mount Saint Helens and Columbia River shipping traffic. Downtown Portland is an 8 mile, rarely more than 15 minute drive, even in rush hour traffic on I-5. It is this ease of access to Portland and Vancouver locations which set this RV Park apart from other RV Parks. Yes, I-5 traffic is occassionally stopped by Columbia River Bridge lifts for barge traffic, but delays are short and part of normal life in Portland. There are perhaps 5 to 7 major restaurants on the island and for a special dining experience one can try the quaint floating Island Cafe on the eastern end of the island. All in all, it is a delightful location. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Jantzen Beach RV Park could be a great place to stay. The park is very well-maintained, neat, and easy to navigate, and though the staff isn't exceptionally friendly, they weren't particularly rude. They have a very reasonable weekly rate which we paid right away. We quickly regretted that decision for these reasons. The first is the incredible amount of noise here. You are nestled right between the train tracks and an air force base, so you get train horns all night and fighter jets flying over in the afternoon, impossible to ignore. Second, this park is on an island, and the only way to get there is on I-5, which is also the only way to get across the river to Washington. If you travel during rush hour, you will be trapped with all the commuters; no way to avoid it. At one point I was in park for 15 minutes 1 mile before the exit. Third, there is no beach at Jantzen Beach, not anymore. It is a huge mall space with Best Buy, Michaels, etc. Many of the sites (including ours) back up to the road behind the mall, with no fence separating the two. This led to a feeling of insecurity and additional noise from car traffic. If you plan to stay here and get a good night's sleep, make sure to pick up some earplugs. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

There are minimal shade trees present in this facility. The swimming area is fairly nice. The deck facilities are minimal (no tables, no umbrellas, except for the life guards). They also have no ice vending machine available. The office staff seem to show a lack of concern for any of the requests/needs of their RV customers. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

The campground brochure did not mention anything nor did the map reveal anything regarding the proximity of the near by trains, airplanes, boat and highway noise that besets this other than that, seemly nicely maintained park. I was however alarmed by the approach late one evening, after 11:00PM, in our site by a disheveled and seeming drunk or high individual who identified himself only as Cowboy and asked for money and cigarettes or our Coach. I hoped he thought a joke. I do not know if there is any or if there is adequate security patrols or cameras provided by the park for their clients safety. In my web search for an RV Park nearest to Portland's City Center there were not many available and this one seemed to be the nicest and closest. There is a near by public bus service which will take you to the nearest Max Station which has a park and ride and a shopping mall is quite near by. We camped here in a Truck Camper.

Management at front desk was volunteerism at best. Firstly, they were uncooperative over which space to use, when many were empty. All the best ones from the website photos had been given to long termers. No effort was made to ease my parking. Spaces are paved but there is no where to walk on the space when it rains except on the grass. Spaces are tight 90 degree turns, pads are narrow. My 36' fifth wheel left no where to park my tow vehicle as spaces are short. No pet area, which means everywhere is a pet area, even my space. The trash dumpster was located at the end of my pad, ugh, when it could have been positioned at a clear paved spot 35ft away. 90% of park is leased by long termers or mobile homes. There are no extra parking spots in the park without a permit. Lack of instructions on internet access codes, plus registration of personal information, and low metered limitations. By the way, the internet access code expires without warning. My two office visits were mildly disagreeable, positioning me as the problem. Hey, I'm just a guest trying to get service or answers! My conclusion was that RV'ers, who weren't long-termers, weren't worth the trouble. It is very noisy, all day Portland District airport takeoffs overhead, boat horns north and south directions, nearby trains, and adjacent divided roadway traffic. Now for the better, there is lots of grass and a good number of trees, all spaces 50 amp. There are two swimming pools. It is next door to a mall and restaurants, and convenient to Portland and Vancouver. We paid and stayed for a week. We do not intend to stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great RV resort. We were visiting family in Vancouver, Wa & this park was convenient. The grounds were very well kept. The bathroom & restrooms were clean. The laundry room was being redone & understandably a little messy but they had nice washer & dryers. We liked staying at this park & plan on staying the next time we are in the area. There is also a large mall next door & lots of restaurants within walking distance. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Huge park with flat, asphalt sites, bordered by small patches of lush green grass. Extra water spigot came in handy for watering dog bowls. We stayed there 5 days. Great proximity to Portland across the bridge, via I-5., though northbound rush hour traffic can be a bear. Laundry room clean and well lit all in working order. Staff very knowledgeable about local places of interest including printed material and advice. Didn't find the plane noise to be a problem as in previous posts. It decreased significantly at night. Earplugs worked for me. We will stay here again on our next visit to Portland. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Fairly roomy sites for a in city park. Nicely grassed areas, many trees, lots of shade. This is a plus and minus, depending on whether you use a satellite dish. Many sites block access, and the park cable system is only the basic networks, so keep that in mind when reserving. Excellent Monthly and weekly rates too. We have camped here the last 2 summers, and love this park. Nice pools, friendly staff (though once parked, they don't like to move you to another site). Exceptionally clean and well run. Many very large sites for big rigs. Other pluses are shopping center across the street, EZ I-5 access, close to downtown Vancouver, WA and Portland, OR. Only minuses are plane and train noise, and when there is an event at the auto racing track nearby, it can be noisy. If you are here on the 4th of July, it is an awesome place to view the fireworks. We camped here in a Motorhome.

If you are looking for a place to stay that is on a commercial island surrounded by boats, trains and autos that sound their horns all night long then this is the place for you. If you want to be in the flight path of the airport then stay here. If you want to be camped in a parking lot next to a busy road and a shopping mall then go right ahead and book. If you want be parked in a spot that is not big enough for your trailer and auto even though you stressed the sizes of the vehicles and then get put back to back with another camper then this is where you want to stay. We were supposed to stay five nights but stuck it out for just one. We ended up parked in the drive of our friends home - much quieter. Oh, and if you want to be a part of a mobile home park then you've got it...this is the place to stay. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Some of the previous visitors commented on "some urban noise." That is like saying the Titanic took on "some water." There are airliners taking off constantly overhead. There are trains. There are train bridge horns blowing all the time. The place could wake the dead. By the way, they have a "no refund" policy to keep complainers from leaving after the second or third 747 swoops overhead. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is an urban setting, across the street from a shopping mall, with a mobile home park on the other side. If you have the expectation that this is not camping at the beach or in a forest, then this is a very nice place to stay. This site makes a good home base for exploration in the Portland area. As it is urban, there are nighttime noises and nearby traffic. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here twice. They have three pools, but we're not sure why they don't make one of them adults only. Nice sites and near everything. There is a huge mega mall across the street, downtown Vancouver, Washington is a short walk across the bridge, bus routes to Portland at the mall and a bike path all the way into Portland or Vancouver. The only reason this place doesn't get a 10 is the constant noise from everything: constant boat horns, long lasting and blaring train whistles day and night, airport and military jets right overhead. As soon as there is a moment of quiet, the lawn mower crew comes through (early in the morning). They mow constantly here. The maintenance shed is right by the pool and many of the sites, a lot noise coming from inside too. The sprinklers come on in the middle of the night and shower the outside of the RV and spray up into the trees. If you want peace and quiet, not a good bet. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This park's primary asset is the location -- on the Washington/Oregon border with easy access to both Portland,OR and Vancouver,WA. As noted by other reviewers, there are a lot of long-term RVers here, however we found the park to be clean and well maintained and experienced no problems with any of the other "residents". We were, however, frustrated with management. We inadvertently parked in the wrong spot (we should have been just next door), but didn't notice or realize it until we were ready for bed. When we notified the office staff the next morning, we were told we'd have to move as the park was scheduled to be full that night. We did so, only to have the spot we had accidentally occupied remain vacant the rest of our stay. The park never exceeded 50% occupancy. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This campground shares a neighborhood with a trailer park and had lots of long termers. The bathrooms were not as clean or nice as advertised and we had to carry a pass to use the pool - which was inconvenient. We had a spot over a sewer lid and could smell the evidence each morning. We also had the dumpster on our site, so we had vagrants rummaging through the dumpster for cans, etc. while we ate dinner with our three small kids. My husband was also approached for money by another man while walking in the area. We never did see any security that was advertised - only a phone number to call. The so-called hiking trail was not convenient or easy to find and the office help was cool at best and rude at worst. I wouldn't stay there again if it was offered to me free! We camped here in a Tent Trailer.

The campground is located in the city-there is a mall across the street with restaurants available. The park staff was friendly & helpful. There were a lot of permanent & long term residents. Park appeared cluttered as some sites were packed with vehicles & trailers. The voltage only measured 105/106 volts-far short of the 120 volts. An automatic sprinkler came on at 2:00 am and sprayed against the coach for ten minutes-I slept through being in the flight pattern & sirens, but not that sprinkler! All roads & sites were blacktop. Sites were adequate in size to accommodated any
number of slides and any size motorhome. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very unusual campground, it is a working ranch/farm with chickens and geese near front entry, very quaint. Has small general store on-site, which is convenient. They do not take credit cards, bring cash! Fire rings available at river edge but somewhat too close to other sites. We stayed in site #20 which had hook ups on wrong side so we pulled through and faced next door neighbors, who ended up being delightful. Appears high percentage of sites are occupied by seasonal or long-term residents. Park is overall very quiet and didn't see many residents coming and going. Reservations are hard to get but worth it. We were river side and got to watch the big ships go by. They do go by throughout the night which was not an issue for us. Restrooms were very old but still serviceable, they were somewhat clean. No gas on Sauvie Island so keep the tank full. Lots of veggie/fruit stands on the island, bring cash! When departing the campground and island, be very sure of directions to exit island as we took wrong turn and did not find turn around for about 10 miles and it was very tight (did a least a 10 point turn to turn around). We stayed here to tour Portland and surrounding area, stayed in the park one day just to enjoy waterfront and peaceful surroundings. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

This park is hard to rate, on the plus side, there is a lot for the grandkids to do. Its still a working farm with plenty of animals to see, feed, and play with. The staff are extremely friendly and the park is quiet. Lots to do on the island, since a majority is wildlife reserve. The park is rustic, with lots of permanent or what look like permanent residents. Lots of stuff stored on the sites, metal sheds, etc. Definitely not your typical RV "resort". But we enjoyed it and the grandkids are already asking when are we going back. Berry picking in the area, petting farms, beaches, including a clothing optional one, so lots of entertainment. River fishing at the park. Lots of small lake fishing on the island. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

We did not stay here, but visited while hiking on the island to update the single prior review from 2002. According to the very friendly and helpful woman staffing the small store, a new website is now available (which I have included above) that gives further information. The prior review described Reeder Beach accurately: rustic, older RV park that seems friendly and comfortable. We drive a 40' motorhome and felt that many of the sites, and the access roads, would be suitable. We camped here in a Motorhome.

The rating above is just an estimate between what we think and what others used to plush accommodations would rate it. Reeder's Beach is very rustic and the facilities are ancient but clean. Lots of shade on the interior lots with sites overlooking the Columbia River. Half of the island is a wildlife preserve, with the remainder primarily large acreage farms. Due to Oregon's open space preservation laws the land cannot be developed. The island is perfect for beaching (sand beaches all along the Columbia frontage), biking, hiking, bird watching, or picking marion berries growing wild everywhere. Fifteen minutes from the Sauvie Island Bridge is downtown Portland for day adventures (plan a full-day at Powell's Bookstore or
nighttime adventures (start with drinks at the Benson, then hit the Jazz bars). We have been spending a couple of weeks a year on Sauvie for the last several years and love it for its tranquility and its location near a large city with a livable atmosphere. There is a more modern campground on the island with concrete pads, etc. further down the road and nearer the beaches. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
