Camp Swatara is a family oriented campground with wonderful amenities such as hiking, boating & fishing, swimming, volleyball and much more. Growing up my family camped there with the adult group from our church. Now I take my family there and it's still a wonderful place to go. The facilities are very well maintained and the camp store is well stocked with reasonable prices. There is so much to do there, one weekend is not long enough to fully enjoy all the amenities. The restrooms/bath houses are all well stocked and kept clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is much to do in the region if all you wish to do at Camp Swatara is sleep. It's near enough to several major tourist attractions to commute under 60 minutes, many only 1/2 hour. The only reason I did not rate Camp Swatara with a 10 is because the pool is shared with the children's day camp so pool hours vary each day and are quite limited to campers. We found it challenging to coordinate our other plans around the availability of the pool which we used during our stay. It is also somewhat of a long walk from the campground. After hiking, we were almost too tired for more walking to refresh ourselves in the pool. With all that said, we will continue to camp there, happily, over and over again. I recommend Camp Swatara to anyone camping with children and even pets. I probably should not neglect to mention it's owned by the Church of the Brethren so therefore has strict rules regarding the use of tobacco, alcohol, and playing radios. It's all forbidden. If you plan to party, book your stay elsewhere! This is a Christian-based, family oriented facility. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
