A great place to enjoy the great outdoors. The park is 14 miles from the nearest town and is in the middle of nowhere. No city lights, no drone of a nearby interstate, no airplanes constantly flying overhead. The sites were very large (don't believe their limit of 26' campers, we saw plenty of 5th wheels that fit in the sites just fine.) The sites were also well separated. Most of the sites were well shaded with mature trees. There is a beautiful lake that has a spectacular mountain backdrop. The park is in the Cherokee National Forest which is also beautiful. Most sites were not within reach of a water spigot so plan accordingly. The bathrooms were clean but as most federal parks there was no soap at the sinks. Why can't they ever put hand soap out? Surprisingly, we received 8 TV channels with our digital tuner. No cell phone signal, and there is no public phone at the park either. In the event of an emergency, the campground host has a radio they use to contact the Ranger's station. There is also a camp store with a business phone. The camp store was very well stocked with a very nice variety of products considering the remote location of the park. I would really like to go back to this campground; it's a very relaxing and picturesque place to spend some time. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
A beautiful place to camp. We have camped here multiple times and love it. However, there are a few issues that one should be aware of: it is very remote. The bathhouses are clean but the showers are "push button" and that can be annoying. We camped here in a Tent Trailer.
We really enjoyed this campground. Sites were private and very well maintained. We even were able to use our direct TV. No cell service though. We will revisit this park again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
Beautiful campground right on the Cherohala Parkway. All campsites recently upgraded to full electricity and Loop D has 50 amp service. (All others have 30 amp service.) It's unusual to find a campground this remotely located having electricity. Not a bad site in the campground and the staff were extremely friendly on the weekend of my visit. Most sites shaded so getting satellite signal could be challenging. I was also to get it though due to most leaves being off trees during my visit. Would highly recommend. Very clean and pretty place. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent National Forest Campground located on the scenic Cherohala Skyway between Tellico Plains TN and Robbinsville NC. Electric hookups at all sites and water sources are available to share between many sites. Bring a long water hose and plan to use your DC pump for water in your camper. Great dammed 93 acre lake for your non motor boat or canoe. 15 miles from the nearest town. Absolutely beautiful views. My family will make this an annual trip. Restrooms/showers are very clean, but no heat or air. Water in showers is luke warm at best, but great for a national forest campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Another overpriced KOA. It is a beautiful area, but this KOA is just average at best, Check out the Indian Boundary Campground instead of this one if you can get in. The grass needed mowed and the people in the office were average and tried to do well. I always thought that one of the KOA "selling points" was that they always show you to your site ... that did not happen here. Since this KOA is average at best I thought a "5" would suffice. We have stayed at the KOA over in Sweetwater and it is much nicer. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The husband & I drove to this one to check it out because we live in Knoxville & wanted a weekend get-away place. Due to the decent reviews on this website, we were hopeful that this would be it. However, this looked like a parking lot!!! I believe Wal-Mart has free overnight RV parking that is comparable to what you will pay for here. The pool is the size of a really large shot glass and the water slide that has gotten reviews appears to be nothing more than a RV tarp that someone dragged behind them trying to escape and they decided to toss it on a little bank and let the kids slide down it since they have nothing else to do. Needless to say, we didn't stay here. The lady in the office was very friendly, and to that I grant the 2 stars. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Everything from the check in to the Sausage and pancake breakfast was great. Sites are huge, mountains around you with apple trees for you to pick. Cherohola skyway at your back door with beautiful sites. Trout fishing just a few miles away. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Excellent campground. Camped with family and children here. Very nice employees. Stayed 3 nights and stayed busy at the CG all 3 days. Nice pool (though not too warm yet), had a kiddie pool, river for tubing (on the lazy side-not a lot of heavy currents). Hillside water slide which the kids really enjoyed. Had an ice cream social (cost 1.00 for 3 scoops which we thought was cheap). Did a hay ride one night and roasted marshmallows another-all sponsored by the KOA workers. Rode the Cherohala Skyway by motorcycle--bikers dream getaway. Really nice playground area. The CG is well maintained and they enforce rules-which we had no problem with. Very quiet for the number of kids running around also. Highly recommend and we will definitely be going back.Sites are graveled, but almost level. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a terrific CG. Very friendly staff who go out of their way to make sure you have a great visit. Lots of activities at the campground and plenty of things to do in the local area. Very quiet and safe. Large sites, lots of space. I can't wait to visit again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great park located at the start of the Cherohala Skyway. Park is clean and well maintained. Everyone in office very helpful and friendly. Not much shade now but in a few years the nice trees they have planted at each site will offer shade. If you like motorcycle riding, this is a great riding area. Will return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Beautiful and clean park with a very friendly staff. If you are into motorcycling, trailer your scooter and have the ride of your life in this extremely scenic area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This place needs some shade! Don't get a waterfront site...you won't be hearing a babbling brook or river sounds here. You'll pay more for it and all you will get is access to a wide s-l-o-w moving river. I cannot really see why anyone should pay more for one of these sites. Very quiet at night. Get there early...the shower has an access code to get in. If you don't know the code you'll have to ask someone. I hated walking up to someone else's campsite at 10PM asking for a code. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
This cg is right on river with some excellent trout fishing nearby. Sites are gravel and pretty level. The cg is fairly new so not alot of shade yet. Bathrooms were very clean and nice pool/playground. Very close to Cherohal parkway which has beautiful mountain views. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park. New, and needs time for the trees to get larger for more shade. The place was very clean and the staff very helpful. We camped here in a Campground Cabins.
