This is in the quiet Nueces River Canyon and I can't say enough good about it. The only thing lacking is WiFi, but that's not a problem. Drive into Camp Wood(4 miles) and you can hit a spot. The only thing some people won't like is an absence of Wal-Marts and Restaurants for about 35 miles. However, it's quiet, beautiful and the hosts are very accomodating. The sites are easy to get into and level. It is great for families, the kids have plenty of activities (sand volleyball, outdoor basketball, driving range, putting green and plenty of room to run) and if you like fishing, the Nueces is good. Also if you like tubing the river, this is a great spot. We will definitely be back to this one. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Being our first time out on a camping vacation, we didn't know what to expect. Management was very attentive, to say the least. They made us feel like a part of their family. They introduced us to their family, including their pet squirrel. Everything was exceptionally clean, including the restrooms/showers, camp sites etc. The women's restrooms looked like fancy hotel restrooms. Throughout the night we slept comfortably knowing that the Big Oak personnel would ride around the whole camp ground regularly making sure we were all safe. We stayed in a tent, electricity and water were not a problem as they have them available depending on your chosen rate. They have beautiful views anywhere you look. It is very family oriented, great for kids of all ages. We highly recommend it to anyone that want's to have an awsome camping experience. We can't wait to go back this year! We camped here in a Tent.

We have been coming to Big Oaks since 2004 and we have always enjoyed this RV park. It is clean and the staff is very friendly. We come every year in May and the staff always remembers our name even before we check in. I would recommend this campground. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a very clean and maintained 50 acre park on the beautiful crystal clear Nueces River. The managers, were very nice and saved our trip by repairing an air-condition problem. There are plenty of shade trees but not where the padded, full hookup, pull thru sites are. The park has 16 new log cabins with kitchens and baths. This is a great place for kids to ride bikes and plenty of room for groups to play baseball or football. The park has stickers and the river is rocky so besure to wear water or tennis shoes. Take your lawnchair, drinks, sunscreen and hats and enjoy sitting in the cool river. We hope to make a return trip. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
