No discounts, all sites $25. We had a 50 amp gravel / stone pull through FHU with a short cable lineup and Wi-Fi that varied. It was slow and not usable in the afternoon we arrived. We used our Verizon broadband, which was very good. Early the next am the Wi-FI was very good. We did not bother to unhook our toad as there is nothing here in town to see or do. The $25 price is high for the area which lowered our rating. But we were on our way up to Guadalupe Mtns NP and this was the closest place we could find. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very nice owners, they said they have had it one year. Updated the wiring, the laundry room has two washer/dryers. Checked out washrooms, clean. The showers have a stall and separate area to dress. There are about 20 pull-throughs, about half have some shade trees. They have 19 tv channels and wifi. Park has compact gravel and sites are level. The park is several blocks from freeway and just has a faint sound of traffic. The owner are obviously making improvements. We stayed here one night and would come back again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
New owners and newly renovated park. Nicely laid out and easy in and out. Pull-through sites and Big Rig friendly. No amenities except Wi-Fi which was strong and worked well. Verizon 3g/5 bars..ATT Edge/3bars. Good campground, close to town. Some train noise but no traffic. We would stay here again. IMHO, the nicest park in Van Horn but choices are limited. Easy access to I-10 and several truck stops, but no fwy noise. Rating reflects consideration for the nightly pricing. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very clean facility, reasonably priced. Free Wi-Fi and cable. Excellent location for overnight stay. Stayed last month going out and stayed this month on return. Will definitely use this as midpoint stop. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is strictly a place to stay the night while traversing the state. There are no amenities to speak of and the grounds are sparse. The pads are red-gravel, flat and nicely spaced out. The manager was very easy going and told me "just go a pick a site, we're not busy". We camped here in a Motorhome.
It is what it is - a place to stop on the road. The two girls in the office were as pleasant as can be. The site was level and long enough that we didn't have to disconnect. The cable was good, the Wi-Fi was slow. It's a good place to stay while traversing Texas. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a nice RV park. It was clean and well maintained. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They also had two young sons who were very polite. They even had dog treats for our 2 pups. The sites were large and easy to access. There is noise from the interstate and an occasional train, but the park is still worth the stay. We would come back again. We stayed 2 nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Large spaces, sparse landscape (a few trees), very friendly staff. Clean, well maintained, newly appointed restrooms. Refreshing. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Stopped for a quick overnight stay. Very clean bathroom with a great shower. The park manager was very friendly. Not much in Van Horn, but this spot offers quick on off freeway and access to gas stations. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Recently re-opened. Packed rock sites, level and wide. Bathrooms and laundry were beautifully tiled and spotless. Employees very friendly and helpful. Great value. We camped here in a Motorhome.
[Moderator's note: As of September 15, 2012, this park has gone out of business.]
Easy on and off the freeway. Level sites with stable power and good Wi-Fi signal. The "cable TV" is six channels of major networks and CW. Okay place for an overnight. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Clean little park. They gave us a selection of sites to pick from. Owners helpful with info on having a tire replaced. The truck tire shop was a few doors down, and they came right over and changed tire. Sites are close, but since it isn't that busy, not an issue. There is some traffic noise, but being tired from a long drive, we slept through it. Only downfall was the pet area. It is a nice fenced in area, but there is a building attached to it, and someone lives there with big dogs. When we opened the gate, the dogs started barking and scared my smaller dog. Otherwise, great for one night. Our rate reflects a cash price, full hook-up, 50 amp. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here both coming and coming on our trip. The host was extremely cordial and helpful. Sites are level gravel, all hookups worked. The CATV only featured about 8-9 channels, mostly local. There is some noise from both the Highway 10 and a railroad. In the summer when air is used it will muffle the sound. Showers were older but clean and well maintained. We will probably stay here again. Easy access off the freeway. Older park in small town but overall a good experience. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great stop over spot. Easy pull thru and flat, new managers are very friendly. No pool. TV is analog with a variety of stations and wifi. Very good steakhouse next door and we enjoyed our dinner there. The manager was up early to let us out the back entrance and right onto I-10. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Talk about true Texas hospitality...the office attendant was extremely friendly and helpful. As stated previously, the park was located near the interstate, so if you want easy access, then the noise is to be expected. Sites were wide and level with no problems getting in or out. Also, there was a home town grocery store near the park which had necessary supplies and some amazing buys as well. If traveling this way again, we would return here. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park was supposed to be big rig friendly, but that must have been before some of the trees grew. We were able to finally get squeezed into a site, but avoiding the trees and have a path to pull out without backing took some effort. Some sites were only 30 amp, and others were 50. Voltage was the lowest we had experienced on our trip and needed a booster for acceptable levels. Roads and sites were both gravel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Certainly suitable for an overnight stop on a long trip if your rig is not too big. A bit expensive for what you get. We would not stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good Value, easy access from highway, easy access to site, wide & level sites, electric receptacle is up-side down, all other hook ups are convenient picnic table is barely usable, quiet (distance train and hwy sounds), basic TV cable, WiFi is very good. Staff was professional and helpful. I will stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It is good for overnight stay. There is convenient access to Interstate. Always leave park via rear exit! It is noisy due to local gravel trucks and Interstate traffic. If you are looking for a quiet park, go elsewhere. There is a McDonald's. Tasty & reasonable food at Chuy's, within walking distance. We stayed 3 nights. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Intended to stay here for only 1 night, but when we went to leave we had problems with our motorhome, so had to extend for three more nights. Very nice lady in the office gave us a discount on the 3 extra nights. Well maintained park with some long pull-through sites that can accommodate a 45' Motor Home and toad. Will definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
$30 with Sam club card. Nice little clean park with fairly level red gravel sites. Large and long sites with plenty of room for slide outs and any length rig. Very pleasant lady at check in. Earlier review said there was no grocery store, but there is one west a quarter mile (small but nice and clean with good variety). Would stay here again on a drive through the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Easy registration and manager was very pleasant. Pea gravel roads and level sites with small concrete patio and a small picnic table. CG lays between I-10 and railroad tracks but neither were a noise issue. Easy/close utility hook-up with 6 cable channels available. Site was somewhat narrow but herring bone layout gave you privacy. Price reflected Good Sam discount. Great overnight stop over and would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
OK for overnight. Never saw staff. Left payment in envelope, picked a site & left the next morning. Sites open & level, utilities worked well. Wi-Fi poor. Nothing in town, not even a grocery store, so don't expect to get supplies here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Not fancy by any standard. An OK overnight stop. Sites are all gravel, level and hard packed. Small concrete patio at each site with a bistro size table. Trees for shade but some need lower branches trimmed be careful pulling into your site I agree with previous comment that the hook ups are far back on the sites, but I had no problem with 30 foot hose. Wi-Fi was weak and very slow, but it is free. The big negative is the freeway noise as this park is a few hundred feet from the freeway with no noise barrier. I would stop here again. Management was very friendly. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a good place for an overnight stay. Roads, sites are gravel and hard packed soil. Sites are level. Not fancy by far. They do have free Wi-Fi and laundry. We have stayed here before and for an overnight park would do so again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
If you just need a place to stop and get off the road, this place is okay. It is not a place you will enjoy, however. It is dusty, noisy from the freeway, and over priced for what you get. No one was in the office, so self-checkin was necessary. Then it was necessary to check sites to find 50 amp service. Hook-ups are at the far back corner of the sites so, if you are in a big rig with a toad, you will need about 35' of water hose and 30' of sewer hose. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed at this park many times, either starting a trip or near the end. We never have any problems as the previous have stated. Parking for the use of regular hoses has never been a problem for my husband. Sights are level. Wi-Fi very good. Easy off/on the interstate. We always feel we get dollar for dollar value. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Just a few blocks off I-10 which is noisy but convenient for overnight stop. Lots of pull through sites. Free bicycles to use. We got to the park about 5:10p and did self check in. Unable to connect to Wi-Fi. There were plenty of spaces and some have shade trees. We camped here in a Motorhome.
My wife and I stayed at this park last night for 29.70 cash. When we entered the office we were greeted by a large barking dog and the whole time the dog growled at my wife and I. This made us very uncomfortable. We drove to our site, which we had to find on our own. No directions given. We hooked our camper up and decided to let our small dachshund visit the pet run. The web site showed pictures of the pet run that was grassy but to our surprise there was only one patch of grass and the rest was dirt and stickers. The pictures on this web site for Eagles Nest RV Park show grassy tent areas, pet run, etc. But we could not find much grass anywhere in this park. The trees and bushes looked like they haven't been watered in a while. There were an abundance of dead trees and bushes through out the park. In the bathrooms, there was no soap in the dispensers and they were not clean. We decided to do a load of laundry while we were here. There was mud all over the floor in the laundry room and tree debris inside and outside of the washers. The Wi-Fi would not stay on. I went to the office and was given some hum drum excuse about the Wi-Fi. Nothing was done about it and we had no internet for our stay. I talked to the campers beside us and they were having problems as well. There was only 6 channels for the so called cable TV which were the local stations from El Paso, Texas. We will not be staying here again. It's not worth the money. We could have stayed at the rest area right outside of town and had more than what was offered at this park. No receipt was given and we paid cash. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A basic park and OK for the price. RV rates should probably be lower for what is available. Gravel roads make it very dusty and dust gets into engine compartment (diesel pusher). We stayed here twice, once going east and when returning back west. There is not much choice in this town on RV parks. New owner who says he will be making many improvements in the future. We did use the laundry and found it just OK. Did not check the showers or restrooms. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park. All gravel. Several trees. Gave it a seven because there's no pool so feel the price is a little high. Easy access off highway and would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a basic RV park, not much in the way of amenities. But it is convenient to I-10, and one of only a few parks between Odessa and El Paso. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very clean park, clean restrooms. Check out their website, it says it all. I checked in after hours and plan to leave before the office opens, but their instructions on how to do that are very easy and clear. I would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Staff very nice. Nice Park for the area sites level all pull through, only about 50 miles from the Guadalupe Mountains. We stayed 3 nights. They run a special of pay for 2 night’s stay 3. We will stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here over night going to AZ, park was very clean, sites were level and wide and staff was helpful and polite. I would stay here again We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park has easy on and off access to the I-10. You do get the sounds of trucks going by. The sites are pull-throughs, have a nice width and some have shade trees. The park is hard pack dirt and gravel. Sites are fairly level. Wi-fi works great. There is a laundry, bathrooms and a fenced doggie run. We have stayed here before; great for over night. This is a nicely run, no frills park. I felt the price, even with club discount, was a bit high due highway noise and packed dirt. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Nice park but all dirt and dusty. Nice check-in with friendly staff. Wi-Fi worked OK on site 13. Could not find the light switches so guess the bathroom was clean, sure was dark. Its OK for a one nighter but would not stay more than that. Price seemed a little high for a dirt pile. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The park is just off the freeway with easy access on and off. The host was most courteous and gave us a cable to connect the TV from his own RV. They have a wonderful grassy doggy run area for the pups to be let off the lead. The sites are shaded and level with picnic tables and concrete pads. Easy pull through sites. Great overnight spot to get away from a long days drive. I would and will stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great one nighter on the way somewhere else. It's a small, older park but very well kept with very level spots and pull throughs that are long enough for big rigs with toads. The managers are extremely nice and gave us advice for places to eat further down the road. Van Horn is very small and pretty limited so don't look for lots of restaurants. In late March the trees were just starting to get leaves, but when they do there will be nice shade. The Wi-Fi is slow and iffy but otherwise a very nice place. I gave it a 7 mainly because of the managers, good Texas folks. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A great campground. Only stayed one night and regretted not having more time to stay longer. Would definitely come back. This campground is clean! Not many TV channels, but the main stations, (ABC, NBC, CBS) were of excellent quality. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Level gravel sites that are pull through. It was a stopover for 1 night. Nothing spectacular but convenient to I-10. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice enough RV Park. Some road construction makes getting on the right road from I-10 a little tough. Upon arrival the manager met us at the check-in point (it was dark at 7:00pm), helped us fill out the registration papers and then showed us to our site. Site was long pull through, level gravel, little narrow. Once again utilities are all bunched up too far from where they need to be. By the time I got the rig and the toad into the site (out of the road) I barely had enough cable to reach the shore power. Same way with the water hose. Forget the sewer hose, I was about 20 feet short. Setup was quick and easy. Received my Good Sam discount. Cable TV is available, 6 channels. Wi-Fi is available but unusable. Tried my ATT Air Card, nothing. I was in an area that could not receive data? If I didn’t need the internet, we would probably stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Actually not a bad place for such a remote Texas location. The sites are long and not too close together. Each site has a small concrete pad and small wood table. The park is clean. Laundry: 3 washers, 4 dryers, $1.50 each. The park is located between the interstate, with a high volume of truck traffic, and the railroad, with frequent trains, it is very noisy. The park was offering a special: stay 2 nights and get the 3rd night free.. We would stay here again only for an overnight stop. Free Wi-Fi but very weak and slow. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here one night on our way to New Mexico. This campground is very clean and neat with mostly gravel roads and sites. Our site was level enough that we didn't have to unhook for our one night stay. There are shade trees and scrubs between most sites and plenty of room between sites for our slides and awning. The manager was pleasant and gracious. Our dogs loved the pet playground where they could run off-leash! We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Park seems clean. They say they have cable but we only get 4 channels. The park is on main street and across the street is a train track. We only stayed one nite and the manager greeted us at 9pm when we arrived. He was a nice man. He also said this RV Park is for sale and doesn't know how much longer it will be open. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We pulled in here on a Saturday for a 2 night stay since we were having electrical problems with our motorhome. The owner was very nice and very helpful. He recommended a mechanic who came to our site right away and fixed our problem. The sites are all dirt, but are shaded and level. The owner had assigned us a site, but told us to take another site if we found one that was shadier. The park is nothing fancy, but makes a good overnight stop. It is quiet and easy access. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I've used this park for a number of years for a 1 night stop over when traveling through West Texas. The new owners seem to be trying to keep things up but probably will need to keep an eye on things. The sites are all gravel / sand with easy access pull throughs. Not a place for a long term stay but OK for the over night stop. Next time through I will probably try the KOA in town which seems to have more facilities. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
What a delight this park was! The owners bend over backwards to be sure you have everything you need. Our site was good sized, and the trees and bushes were appropriately trimmed back so they would not scratch the coach. The laundry and restrooms were very clean. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Definitely an overnight park only. The owner was very grumpy – but friendly. Men’s bathroom was awful – women’s OK. Very, very low flow shower heads. Our one main problem – there were only two RV’s on our row. One was ours and the other was right next to us. A person from a row behind us decided that he wanted to go to the bathrooms. So, he walked between our site and the camper next to us. He even had to turn sideways to get between our slide out and a tree. He did this as we were still setting up. Person had no concern for us and our privacy or spot. I guess we were just in his way. By the looks of this person’s RV (A Mexican National and several others all living in one small trailer), it would appear that they were long-term residents. I guess that gives them extra privileges. There were plenty of empty spaces on our other side or on the other side of the camper next to us. I guess us overnighters are just an inconvenience to the permanent people. Because of this, we laid awake all night and left very early as we could not sleep. Sites were level but all dirt. Be very careful leaving park as you will scrap your bottom – we watch several do this. I could only get the Wi-Fi to work at 3:00am. Not much in town and pricy for what they offer. Would NOT stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The rate is with Good Sam discount but the man that checked us in said they would not be a Good Sam park for much longer. The fenced in dog run is full of stickers so watch your pets. The "cable tv" was good but offered only four total channels. The wifi had a terrible signal and we could not get a connection. We stayed only one night so it was not a big deal. Not much within walking distance to this park. It works for a night but we would not want to spend much longer in Van Horn. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Yeah, a good place for a quick overnight at best. A little cramped making the corners tight. Sites were long enough to keep truck hooked to camper. WIFI acted up a little, so I switched to the phone/air card. Place was wedged between the interstate and a railroad, but the price for quick on/off access. CATV, only 4 channels, nothing to brag about. Yeah, only overnight. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This place is good for an overnight stop. For a destination stop don't bother. There is NOTHING in this town. The day we stopped here to wind blew so hard it was like sitting in a dust bowl. The sites are all pull-throughs with little concrete patios with little warped picnic tables but like I said for an overnight stop it's OK. We had no problems at all getting our satellite. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We've stayed here numerous times over the years. New owners took over in April are are certainly making headway in improvements. WiFi was great and password is printed on brochure of park. We would like to mention previous complaints regarding those who drive through this (and any park) without first stopping at the "Stop" sign and checking with the office. As guests in parks we most definitely appreciate the security of stopping all who enter a park. We will be back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great place to over night or for a couple days. Easy access off I-10 and exit 138 in Van Horn, Texas. All pull thrus with FHU’s no need to unhook. Free WIFI just ask for network key when checking in. New owners April 10, 2007. Showers, Laundry very clean. Small activity center with tables, games and stage. Nice area for dog walk. Several eateries in walking distance if you don’t want to cook after a long drive or 9 hole Mountain View Golf Course within a mile of the RV park to stretch your legs. We have stayed here in the past and will return again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Close to the interstate. Had nice size sites. The staff was real nice. Free wifi, ask at the desk for password. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Only stopped for an overnight stay, but would definitely consider CG for longer stay. Owners ere attentive, but based on other reviews definitely concerned about the safety of the people in the campground. It is clear to stop at the office before entering and based on conversation with owner they will jump all over you for not doing so. We will definitely stop here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
"WHAT THE H*LL ARE YOU DOING HERE?" was the greeting we got from the owners of this park. We stopped in Van Horn due to an ice storm. The first exit we came to had a campground so we went to check it out. My husband stopped our 2005 motorhome by the entrance while I drove in the park in our Lexus SUV to check out the park to make sure it was a safe park for us and our 3 children before registering. We drove in and then on the way back out the owner and her daughter jumped out of nowhere wearing black in front of the SUV scaring us to death. After that disturbing greeting (above), the daughter continued to block us (it appeared she was packing a gun in her pocket)while her mother lectured us on driving past the registration office (the office was dark and closed). This is the Bates Motel of RV parks. Do not even slow down near this park. We ended up staying at the KOA. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good overnight stop on Interstate 10. We've stayed there twice. Gravel sites, with shade when the sun gets low. Everything worked fine, and registration people picked a site for us that would be easy to navigate with a 40-foot motorhome with toad. Spaces are long enough that you don't have to unhook the toad, and Chuy's Mexican restaurant is within walking distance. Play area in front had a basketball goal. It's located away from all the sites, so we could shoot guilt-free hoops because the noise wouldn't bother anybody. We camped here in a Motorhome.
On the contrary to some of the other posts, I would like to say how much my wife and I enjoyed this park. First off, there is a big sign saying, "Please check in at the office". It's very hard to miss that. My wife and I are retired and it was nice to stay at a campground that was concerned with our safety. We stayed for three nights and saw them stop one car. They didn't lock the gate or chase them down, it was more of a wave as they were exiting the grounds. Being in an unfamiliar town it was nice to see someone watching out for their customers. Overall the park was very clean, and it was nice to have some shade in Texas. All the workers were very nice and helpful. We got our dog washed by a nice young lady, and much to my wife's objection had a large piece of cake that the owner baked. (Yum!) We camped here in a Motorhome.

My husband & I wanted to preview this park for future; made the mistake of driving thru with our tow vehicle (without first stopping at the Front Office) & found 2 people blocking our exit; got a stern lecture on trespassing on private property; I had flashbacks of Deliverance but chatted to try to bring down the tension; left with her offer to come back for their "Special" and they're looking for Workampers, too! Sorry, Dear - not even. If we missed out on any other great things about this park, we'll never know because I was scared witless by the welcoming committee! We won't be back with our RV. Stayed with KOA! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stay away from this park. If you want to view the park beforehand I guess you need an invitation because they will stop you at the gate and harass you. There is no wireless internet, The signal is from a hotel next door and of course that is stealing. Limited room to get in and out. All and all a terrible park. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Avoid this park! It is hazardous to your safety, and this has nothing to do with park facilities. We drove in with our car to see if it would be better than the park we were in, and without stopping at any time we turned around to leave. As we passed the office three people jumped IN FRONT OF MY CAR. I stopped and a woman stood in front, touching the front bumper, telling me if I moved she was going to "sue for assault". Another person closed and locked the front gate to further prevent us from getting out of the park. The Sheriff was called at my request. The campground filed an assault charge -- and I countered with "unlawful restraint". We were delayed in Van Horn for a court appearance, and finally told by a Sheriff's Deputy to go ahead and "just leave". Besides the aggravation, the safety issue was that if any of the three who jumped in front of my car had a weapon I would have run over them. That would have been a homicide investigation -- for just looking at a campground. Do not patronize this park! In fact, I will never stop in the county (Culberson) again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice and clean campground, clean restrooms, friendly owners. There is a TRAIN right next to campground, all night long!! Still good for an overnighter. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Beware of this park. We pulled in to this park in our toad to check it out, and were told by the man running the place to never come into his park without stopping by the office. He has nothing to fear, we will never go there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice for an overnight stay. Owner's wife cooks baked goods sold in cg store, and she's a good cook. Family run, and all very friendly. One of their kids escorted us to the site and made sure we could find everything. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have camped here twice (the first in 2002)and we enjoyed our stays, very friendly staff and clean park. If you drive by a large sign stating "Stop" without stopping and/or asking permission, you will suffer the consequences. We feel good that someone is watching traffic to protect us and our property. We will stay here on our future trips west. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Limited cable, but included with fee which is a great bang for the buck. Walking distance to a grocery and homemade desserts at the office. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Cash price cheaper than credit card price. Friendly staff, willing to help after office
hours. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Friendly staff. Rate was a special while we were there. All sites are pull thru. Gravel
sites with concrete patio pads with picnic table. Freeway is very close so a little noisy. Modem is thru a pay phone in laundry which needs $1.00 to connect. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
RV sign can be seen from I-10. Easy access from interstate. All sites are pull-thru and very spacious as are the roads. New owners are very friendly and helpful. Office is open from 8 AM to 8 PM and the owner lives on site and only a phone call away. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Close to freeway, easy in and out. Roads and sites are gravel. Sites are long and not to narrow. Water, power, and cell were good. Not much noise from freeway. Close to shopping, etc. Good for overnight/short stays. We would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This park was right off the I-10 and had a big sign, which is how we found it. A friendly lady in the office, level sites & great showers. Each bath room/shower room was a single room with a toilet, sink & shower & enough hooks. If you needed to sit the commode with the lid down (standard like you have at home) was the seat. Very clean. The cable TV did not work for us. We just stopped for the night and would stop again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a great spot to spend the night. Office people were very friendly. We had a blown fuse, and my husband went up to the office to see if they had any, forgetting to take his money. They offered to give him the fuse, so he wouldn't have to walk back. Of course, he did go back and pay them, but we appreciate the gesture. Wi-fi and cable both worked great. Hook-ups were easy. We will stay again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Great overnight campground. Very easy on/off I-10. Parked in the very back and both train and highway noise were minimal. Very friendly owners. Will stop here again. 50amp worked well. A little dusty but not too bad. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great stopover park on I-10. Easy on and off. Clean and neat. Large pull throughs. Super friendly hosts. We will stay again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very enjoyable campground, even though only overnight. The sites are spacious, long, and level. Easy off/on to I-10, and it's quiet at the site - nice. The campground has new owners who are endeavoring to upgrade the facility. I watched some of their busy industry....Dinner was had the hotel "El Capitan" in Van Horn. Pay attention to the architecture - it's notable. I'm partial to Italian food and the Rigatoni was excellent. Good salad and wine as well. The campground owners will ferry you to the hotel and bring you back - very nice of them. We'll return to this facility as we travel west/east. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Best place to stop in Van Horn, TX. New owners apparently, working hard to improve the facility. Everyone we had contact with was great. We stopped both going to and coming from Arizona. Lots of areas to walk pets, and handy to I-10 without too much highway noise. Only downside is the dirt/dust, but I believe you will find that everywhere near Van Horn. Would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Really nice new owners who are upgrading the park. They just added a row of 50 amp service to very long pull throughs. Only suggestion is don't wash your car or RV as the park is very dusty. Had a small problem, and they were there to fix it at once. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We picked this park because it was near the freeway. Very little freeway noise for being so close. The park is under new management and they are working on improvements and upgrades. We did have some low power issues but it was handled. The owners are very nice and accommodating. They did recommend a restaurant, the Van Horn Cattle Company. It was an excellent place--good food and very reasonable. The park has room for big rigs and is easy to get in and out. We will camp here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Easy in/out right off exit 140. There is a Love's gas station at the exit. Two very friendly women checked us in. The rate was posted at $35/night, and I asked if they belonged to any discount clubs. They said not yet, but they would give me a $5 discount anyway. Nice long level gravel sites. A large pine tree in-between each site provided some shade, but does not obstruct satellite signal. Strong Verizon signal here. Good water pressure. Some road/train noise, but not much. There is a nice view of mountains. We will stay here again when passing through. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice people. They said they just reopened January 2013 with new owners/managers. Gave good Sams discount even though they were not listed in book. Just an overnight stay but would definitely stay again. Laundry area was nice too. 4 washers 2 gas dryers. $1 for each machine. Whole park was very clean. The Texas Visitors Center has them listed in their Van Horn brochure. We camped here in a Motorhome.

All sites are pull throughs, comfortably spaced and very level. We were greeted by a friendly, outgoing lady at the front desk. She was very knowledgeable about the area and had great suggestions for good places to eat and places to see. The laundry and bathrooms even smelled clean, and this is the first RV park we have stayed in that the dryers actually dried the clothes, and for only $1. The Wi-Fi worked well and so did the cable TV. It is only a few blocks to gas/fuel/groceries/restaurants and a very easy on and off of the freeway. The next time we are in this area we will stay here again and recommend it to all. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very sweet lady at the front office, and park is easy to find. We were parked right next to office building and the internet signal was so poor it was unusable. I can see they are working to upgrade the campground but feel they are edging on too costly for what they offer. We would have probably rated higher if the Dec $25 was still in place. We were there Jan 1, 2013 and the rate is now $30 for 30 amp..higher if you need 50 amps. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park basically looks like a gravel parking lot with hookups, although there are trees and the sites are reasonably wide pull-throughs. The office staff was very pleasant, helpful, and friendly. The convenience of location right off the Interstate make it an excellent overnight stop. We didn’t use the on-site laundromat, but it looked very good. Our internet was pretty bad, but they are in the process of improving the park, so that may change. There are lots of places to walk a dog, but the abundant burrs, even on the gravel roads, made that walk unpleasant. Not a place we’d want to stay for any length of time, but we’d have no hesitancy to stop there again for an overnight. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Overnight stay. Easy on and off I-10. Large pull-through site. Friendly staff, older showers/restroom but hot water and laundry. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great, flat pull-through sites with plenty of room to maneuver. The park is pretty basic, but the new owners are really working hard at upgrading and making improvements. The bathrooms are old, but spotless. WiFi is sketchy and apparently only works at sites near the building. There is some road noise, but the easy access to I-20 is worth it for an overnight stop. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy overnight, easy on/off freeway, pull through sites, full hookup, inexpensive, clean, and friendly. New owners since October 2012. Highly recommend this if you're passing through, or visiting Carlsbad Caverns. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This is a very good campground as noted by other posters. Fine points are the cleanliness in a mature campground and the staff. The showers could use a small foot stool or bench to help one dress. Cable TV was marginal but WI-FI was top notch. We were allowed to select any site we wanted, in our 30 Amp price range. The absence of a 2 page Rules and Regulations document was refreshing. Fee is for a 30 Amp site with a $5 discount with some type of travel card. We will stay here again for an overnight visit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great for overnight stay. Clean, easy to maneuver with tow car. New management just there a couple of weeks and they are working hard to improve the facility. Owners very friendly. So friendly they drove us to El Captain Hotel for dinner and back. Who does that? BTW, great place to eat. Will definitely stay there again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is a gem if you are an over - nighter because it has ample room all pull through sites. The new owners are semi-retired and super friendly. The laundry facilities are extra clean and only a dollar per load. Will definitely return on our next time through. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Gravel, well-kept spaces with good dog walking. There are very good showers. We had already started supper, when our neighbor informed us of The Van Horn Cattle Company restaurant, an easy walk from the park, which we will try in the future, as he rated it 41/2 stars!! There are trees and tables at every site. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park is no longer RV'er friendly. A new owner purchased the park in July 2010 and no longer honors any club discounts. Minimum charge for an overnight stay is $30. The park is still advertised in several club directories. The camp host stated that the new owner didn’t care. He doesn’t know anything about RV parks. This is his first one, and he had it written in the purchase contract that he didn’t have to honor any past park commitments. With the isolated location the park gets lots of RV'ers from the club directories. Then in a classic bait and switch, the host must tell you, in the case of Passport America, it is now $20 more to spend the night or you can go another 80 miles on down the road and find someplace else. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This place is a dump. New ownership does not equate to "new facility". Right on the interstate exit, I do mean eastbound exit, one could if they did not know the exit in the park, turn west and head into oncoming interstate traffic. Very dusty. Self check in, but very confusing. Sign says, $30 for 30A and $35 for 50A, none of the sites are posted for what the amperage is. Also on the sign says something about no water, no sewer deduct $12, so we paid $20, as we were in a 50A site and don't like to use the 50A so we used the 20A plug. Short time later the host arrives and says this is a $35 site, I try to tell him that I am plugged into the 20A receptacle and will not be hooking up to sewer or water. He says "the new owner gives no discounts" instead of arguing I pay him $30, that is good. Restrooms are not clean. Good Verizon/motosat. Did not use the Wi-Fi. We will not be staying here again. Avoid at all cost. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Park is under new ownership. They are fixing many items and have worked hard to get the park outdoors in good repair. Showers and restrooms are very dated and need a facelift. We stayed one night, easy on and off freeway. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very difficult campground to review. It appears to be suffering low maintenance, as the sites and facilities not kept up, nor are they particularly attractive. Electrical connections on about half sites seem non-functional. There is no one in the office; one leaves the money in an envelope. On the other hand, there is plenty of room, and since there are few customers, one can have a spacious site. This is a Passport park (although not listed in the book), so the price is pretty good. We did not use the restrooms, so I have no idea what shape they were in. Bottom line: the price was right and this was quieter and more pleasant than a Wal-Mart parking lot. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is strictly an overnight stop in west Texas. You have to look around to find a sight where the electric works. Easy highway access and level large pull throughs, no need to unhitch trailer. Worth the $12.50 for 30amp for us. We stay here every time we pass through this area and need to stop. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
No one in attendance for this self registration park. Facilities were poorly kept and run down. Could find no toilet or shower facilities. Neither cable TV nor Wi-Fi worked, though the park advertised these features. Barely worth the half price fee through Passport America. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park is under new management and they live in site #1. They are always available. You check yourself in when the office is not open. The Office is usually open from 4pm to 7pm, except on Sundays. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

Very comfortable pull-thru sites. Each one has a pine tree and a landscape boulder -- very cool! The mountain scenery is spectacular! We belong to Passport America and the rate is $12.50 for one night. We had everything we needed, including cable. This is our third time to stay here and we are always glad that it's here. We highly recommend it! We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.

Please don't bring your pets to this park during this time of the year. There are so many stickers it took us a lot of time to clean the trailer and all our rugs. Weeds galore. No wonder there were only 10 trailers in a 100 trailer unit. No antenna reception. The office was not open at 6pm, no one answers the phone, and the office was not open at 10am friday morning. $25 was to much for this park. There was NO water. Fortunally we had water. This place needs NEW management. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was a decent enough campground for an overnight stop. There is plenty of room to maneuver. I really can't ask for much more from an overnight stop. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Appeared very run down with lots of hookups out of order. While we allegedly had 30 amp service, I don't think that is what we were getting. Next to the freeway. Self serve-no one available when we were there. Was OK for sleeping for the night. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park gets a 2 rating because it has long pull-thrus and tall pine trees. We pulled in because of the wind storm while driving, so decided to stay 2 days and catch up on laundry. The office was closed so I put a check in the envelope and placed it in the slot. After setting up in the first site the electric went out. We used another power outlet on the next site. The electric amps were so low that I could only use the air conditioner. I couldn't use the electric hot water or the refrigerator. So much for doing laundry. I kept going back to the office to see if any body was working so I could get my money back for the second day. No one ever showed up for both days. The park is for sale. Hope someone with big money comes in and helps this place get back on it's feet. We camped here in a Motorhome.
One of the very worst. We had to move over to the KOA in Van Horn to spend two more nights due to severe wind event in the area. The electricity was really funky on our 30 amp connection; I don't know if there are any 50 amp sites in this park. We couldn't find any. Don't plan to use your microwave or convection oven here. This park gives Passport America's already dubious reputation an even more tarnished reputation. I believe I will dump Passport America and join KOA's travel club. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We paid $12.50 with Passport America, otherwise it's $25.00. Yes, there are mountain views. That is why we gave it at least a rating of 2. This park has a For Sale sign in front. No one was in the office from 2pm through the next morning. The ad states rallies welcome with a large rec room. The rec room was filled with junk. It looked like a few garages were cleaned out & put in there. We could see it though a opening in the wall when using the bathrooms. The rec room was not accessible. The ladies room had a toilet broken, no toilet paper, no paper towels, the waste can was spilling out onto the floor, and was filthy. The shower rooms were dirty but at least had toilet paper. Above all, we had a 30A site and couldn't use anything but lights. The voltage was very low. We had to use our inverter to use the microwave. People pulling in were scurrying around trying to find 50Amp sites or at least usable 30Amp. Some sites had an "X" on the electric post but other that didn't had poor power. We don't know if the WiFi worked. We didn't try. One night was more than enough. This park could be a very pleasant place if it were kept up. Even though it's along the frontage road of I-10, the openness of the surroundings made the noise tolerable. We will not return to this park and we will let Passport America know of its condition. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stopped here for an overnight while traveling. The Electric was low and flucuated from below 108 to about 112 volts. We parked way in the back, and were happy for the quiet site. Many Pecan trees in this park. We picked many off the ground. They were tasty. We would stay here again but hope they fix up the power. Had supper at Chewey's restaurant in downtown Van Horn. Great food and pleasant surroundings. Fried Chicken to die for. John Madden's Hall of Fame. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good park for an over night stop. Passport America rate is $13.50 good for one night. Easy on/off from I-10. Sites are long enough to stay hooked-up. Trees between each site. Very large park so lots of space with wide interior roads. Far enough back from the highway to have only minimal noise and train seemed far in the distance. WiFi worked great but cable TV did not work at our site. Only a few 50 amp sites available. Our 30 amp electricity had low voltage. Many sites are closed due to electrical problems. Ground cover between sites contained small stickers so our dog could not walk around. Had to walk him on gravel road to grass along front of park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Easy in and out. We were there on a Sunday and the office was locked so we paid in a drop box. OK for an overnight stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is fine for a one night overnighter. Very large pullthrough sites make entering and exiting a breeze. We checked in at 3:00 p.m. and left at 9:30 a.m. the next day and didn't see anyone in the office or any workkampers whatsoever. The $10 rate is Passport America. If no one is in the office when you check in, be sure to go to the front entrance and use the park layout plan to pick a site...not all are 50 amp, if that's needed, and some sites are Xed off because of faulty electric. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stopped at the KOA and they were nice when we ask for directions to Mt View RV Park. Their rate, by the way, was $28.50 less 5% for Good Sam Members. Mt View RV Park looks just as nice and my PassPort price was $10. Easy pull thru FHU sites, free WI-FI, cable, & 50 amp. I was in hog heaven. Wish this place was everywhere I go. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Checked in and hooked up to electric and then discovered that my electric appliances were not operating at full charge, i.e. my tea kettle would not perk and microwave was not rotating at full speed. I spoke with the person who checked me in and she said there were no other complaints. I didn't know what to do, as in checking other sites those currents appeared low also. The owner then came over and with great hostility confronted me, never asking me for information, accusing me of causing trouble. He grabbed my hand and placed a 'wad' of money in it and told me to leave. He said there electric hookups were fine and asked what kind of 'five and dime' gadget was I using to check their system. I tried to explain to him about my appliances but he continued to not listen and yell at me. I have traveled for over a year in an RV and have never been treated with such abuse. I am a volunteer campground host in a national park and would never treat someone as I was treated. I moved next door to the Van Horn KOA and was treated wonderfully. MY RV electric system is working just fine here! Mtn. View obviously has wiring problems! And a very hostile and rude owner. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Used Passport America for the great price. Park is right off I-10 so expect some noise but the surrounding mountain beauty more than made up for the traffic! Extra large sites allowed my 58 foot rig to park and get in and out with no problems. Extra wide roads, nice small gravel surface and level sites made this a nice camp. Mostly passing through type one night travelers. Would definitely stay again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We stayed here for one night on a trip to New Mexico. This park is very neat and clean with some pretty views of the surrounding mountains. The owner was very nice. We would definitely stay here again. It is a great place to stay for a nights sleep. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed here one night while traveling through. Very large level gravel sites -- large enough to leave our HDT, 38' 5th-wheel, and Jeep all hooked up together. Very wide streets and wide sites. Beautiful desert setting. Very clean and well maintained. Easy to get in any of the entrances (there are at least two), and easy to get into big diagonal sites. Although WiFi is advertised, we were unable to get anything but a very weak signal. I would have liked to stay longer, but we had a deadline to be in Arizona. Will definitely go back there if in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
RV Park has just re-opened with new owner. Free WiFi. Very easy access off I10. Some freeway and train noise. Had a long talk with new owner. Seems he will be doing a lot of upgrades. An interesting feature is that he offers horse corrals for travelers with horses/ Passport & Happy Camper Park. Cost is $10. Electricity was good, but low water pressure. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was an overnight stop for us. As KOA's go I'd say this was better than average. The pool was clean and well maintained. The campground had no hidden surprises. Access and maneuverability is above average. WiFi and cable TV worked well. All in all, a good choice in Van Horn. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was actually our second stay at this park about a week apart on our trip from Tucson to San Antonio and back. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even guided us to our site. Both sites were very level and just the right size for our 36' TT + tow vehicle. The on-site restaurant was quite good as well and even delivered our food to our camp site when we asked for a "to-go" plate. We'll stay here again for sure. Our rate reflects a discount coupon as the normal rate is $38. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
An older stop over campground located adjacent to a I-10 in rural Texas desert. We have stayed here before and the owner makes improvements each time we come back. Limited grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants in the immediate area, campground has store and restaurant on site with beer, wine, milk bread etc. Very friendly and helpful staff that escort you to your site. Owner is on site and very helpful. Older clean well maintained restrooms, swimming pool and laundry room. Well maintained park . Small stocked fishing pond . Pet friendly for friendly pets. Hard packed gravel interior roads. Level gravel sites with some grass and trees between . Average space between sites . Picnic table at each site. Lots of room to maneuver in the park with long pull through sites. Good access to utilities and all worked properly. Good cable selection . Good free Wi-Fi and good Verizon data and cell coverage. Close to I-10 with some traffic noise and train noise. We would return. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A nice, quiet surprise away from the highway. Very friendly, helpful staff. Gave us a discount coupon for an affiliated park (which we were able to use). Everything you expect from a KOA except a high price. This is definitely our go-to park for future transits through the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The bathrooms were old and dated but clean. I like that they had paper towels. Yes, friendly and fast check in. Level campsites, good hookup, easy in and out of sites and campground . Nice long pull-throughs. Very helpful staff. Good strong Wi-Fi. Lots of good channels on cable TV and good reception. Wi-Fi better than a lot of the fancy expensive parks. We will be back when traveling through. We used discount card from another campground, 20% off. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very clean and well layed out RV park. Spacious sites with great view and friendly staff. Easy on/off of freeway. Stayed here one night and found it to be sufficient for what we needed. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice large, flat sites. A bit dusty, but to be expected in this part of Texas. Friendly staff. The only issue is the train that runs through Van Horn every hour on the hour. At least after mid-night, the train stopped blowing their horn. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here overnight on our way to California. There was a mix up at check-in about our reservations, but everything was worked out fairly quickly. All sites are level, gravel and large for the biggest of rigs. There is a fenced dog area as well. They also have a cafe where a very good meal can be enjoyed at a very reasonable price. There were a lot of trains, but it didn't bother us. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This park was nice and clean as you would expect from a KOA. We would not stay here again because of the excessive price and the train noise. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed in the campground from November of 2012 to March of 2013 and loved every minute of it. We paid a monthly rate that averaged out to about $15.00 a day. They have a nice pond where catch and release is allowed. Two fenced in doggie areas where your pet can run and play alone or with others. The spaces are big and some of the smaller ones do have shade. But the thing I like best was their cafe. If you pull in late in the evening, you can go and have dinner in the cafe. The food is good and the prices are fair. In the morning, you can walk from your rig to the cafe and have a great breakfast. The owners are delightful and attend to your needs quickly. I would recommend this KOA to anyone traveling along Highway 10 in Texas. We camped here in a Motorhome.
They have put in stakes so you can tell where the end of the site is - makes pulling in so much easier. Still overpriced, but is clean, safe, nice little cafe for breakfast, beats the other places nearby. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here as a one nighter on our way to and from our destination. It had big level sites. The staff was very friendly. It worked for us as a one nighter. Easy to get to. Rate reflects KOA member. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This convenient KOA makes the most of what it can offer. Not much shade - there are few trees in this desolate part of Texas. But there is some grass and the place is immaculately maintained. There is a cute little pond and there are 2 small fenced dog runs. There is a small cafe on site that serves breakfast and dinner (limited menu). Very easy interstate access. Fine for an overnight stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here one weekday night the second week of October. Only 25 or so sites were occupied and some of those were extended stay customers. None appeared to be permanent residents. We had a FHU, pull-through site that was satellite friendly, with 40+ channel cable TV, WI-FI that worked OK for us. Most sites in the park fit that description. About 50 sites are 30/50 AMP and the rest are just 30 AMP. The sites are decent size but longer units may have to unhook. There are also 8 tent sites plus a group site and a couple cabins. There is a small, but deep, in ground pool (already empty for the season) that does not appear good for little kids (shallow end is 4'). There is also a playground, pet run, and fishing pond. There is a KOA cafe that serves breakfast and dinner. The park is a quarter mile south of the I-10 exit and about half a mile from the center of town just north of the exit. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice, clean park. Great place for a short stay, with some great views. The owner was great. We had a tire problem and he went out of his way to help and it was on a Sunday. Sites are good sized and level. Park is easy in and out and close to Hwy. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Considering the reviews, we weren't sure what to expect. We found a quaint little park in this dust bowl of a town. The bathrooms were old and dated but clean. The best part of this park was the on-site cafe. Considering there is not much to pick from in Van Horn, this seems like the best. In a similar situation, we would stay here again. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
This is a great campground after a long day of driving. Friendly and fast check in. Clean restrooms and showers. Level campsites, good hookup, easy in and out of sites and campground. Will stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Not much to chose from in this part of Texas but this place is okay. Only fly in the ointment would be the price. A little pricey but that is KOA. Sites are level and utilities are excellent. Nice long pull throughs. We have stayed here before and will be back when traveling through. It has a great little diner on premise We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Driving east on I-10 in West Texas there aren't a lot of options once you leave El Paso, and we found those unappealing. We had enough daylight left to push on to Van Horn, and were surprised and pleased with what we found at the Van Horn KOA. Hosts were pleasant and accommodating. They serve a decent dinner on site with beer and a local wine (St. Genevieve) on offer. WI-FI signal was consistently strong (and free, as was the cable TV). Restrooms were dated but clean. Fenced pet area was a welcome addition. We wound up spending an extra night to wait out some severe weather that passed through towards the east. In all, we were not disappointed with this KOA. and would stay here again as an overnight option for the I-10 drive. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A little expensive, however, nice and quiet. Easy access to sites. We were passing through so this was a stop over after a long day of driving. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice, accessable place for an overnight. Lots of room to exercise a dog in the back. Little restaurant associated with the place, didn't eat there but it seemed to be popular for dinner. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I stayed here for 1 night in a pull through site. Campground elevation is 4,300 feet. Maneuvering my 40 footer towing a dinghy was no issue. Roads and sites are gravel. The patios are grass & gravel, and edged with landscaping timber. Sites are large, very level, and spacing is good. My site offered 30/50 amp service & full hookups. WI-FI and cable were included in daily rate. Their WI-FI is very slow. I was able to receive AT&T Wireless G2 Internet & Cellular service. I received Dish Network 110/119 Satellite TV from dish on roof of motorhome. Campground is pet friendly. Walmart is 90 miles away and a grocery is 2 miles away. They have a restaurant open in the mornings and evenings. I did not eat there. I am unable to comment on other amenities due to not using them. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy on and off the highway. Close to downtown Van Horn. Friendly staff. Two hours East of El Paso, seven hours West of San Antonio. We camped here in a Motorhome.
It has friendly staff, and level spots. There was plenty of room for the truck hooked to the 40' fifth wheel in the nice pull though spot. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We very rarely stay in a KOA due the high price and few amenities that very few adults use. This was no exception. There are limited options in west Texas off I-10 so this was one of the better parks in the area. Easy well marked access off I-10 in a rural setting. The park is close to the Hwy but quiet. Adequate size sites with hard pack gravel with grass between sites. All utilities were accessible and worked properly. Staff was friendly, for a KOA. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Well-kept and clean, everything worked, friendly reception. Relatively good price for a KOA. Very easy big rig access, all sites are pull throughs and are pretty level. Surface is hard-packed clay/dirt. Fairly near the interstate but noise was not a problem. Wi-Fi is free but speed was so poor it was nearly useless (even late at night). The area is remote with not much to do so good for an easy overnight stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Visited as an overnight stop off I-10. Convenient to freeway but far enough away that road noise was not a problem. Sites at the rear of the campground are spacious and are easy in and out for a big rig towing a vehicle. Bathrooms and showers were clean but very dated and in need of a remodel. Roads and sites gravel and dirt. Decent overnight stop. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Last visited 2 years ago, major improvements since then. Dog run and landscape timbers add to a much nicer overall appearance. The cafe is a nice difference to get dinner or breakfast without driving into town. Wi-Fi still weak at night when busy, but for the surrounding area do not think this can be beat. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It seems like KOA's are the most expensive of all campgrounds, and this was no exception. The camp hosts were very friendly at check-in and the pull through site was more than adequate. It was very level and all utilities were readily accessible. The basic landscaping was a gravel lot, but more than adequate for a single night's stay. That is the longest we would ever plan to stay in Van Horn, Texas. We would return if necessary. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This KOA was an overnight-only stop for us. It's an older KOA that the management is upgrading. Parts are still quite old and need service. However, they are very friendly and offer large pull-through sites for the biggest rigs. We're a 45' quad-slide motorhome towing a Jeep. The sites and roads are gravel and dirt and you'll get a little dusty: but this is Texas and expected. There is a nice pond developed to the rear of the park and two dog walks. If you need to stop down in this part of Texas this park is an acceptable waypoint. They have a small cafe in the office area and a cook up a mean breakfast and dinner for guests who wish to dine on-site, or take-out back to their RV. This was a plus for us us because we were exhausted when we pulled in. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We have stayed at this KOA before and always had the same site but this time they wanted to put us in a site that our tow vehicle would have a hard time fitting. Of course the office was closed, as usual from around 10 - 2 pm. We were lucky the owner was around: he parked us where we usual park. He could not understand why they would have assigned us the site they did, but in the end he is responsible for his staff, so their actions reflect his KOA. The cafe was closed for dinner, this did not make sense either. You have weary travelers who are hungry but no: No eating here! Rate includes KOA discount and taxes. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This could be a destination facility if you want to go to Carlsbad Caverns or Guadalupe Mountains National Park. We stayed one night and had NO complaints. The park is clean, very well maintained, nicely landscaped and convenient to the expressway. There is actually some grass in this arid climate, though the grounds consist of small rock gravel. There are rabbits everywhere so watch your dog. The sites are level and the Wi-Fi is good. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Rate reflects premium for 4 adults and discount for KOA card. I agree with recent reviews. We stayed overnight and found clean washrooms and showers. We registered after hours with no problems. Someone came by to make sure we were okay. Large sites - easy for us to drive through even with our 41ft Titanium. I was unable to gain access to the wi-fi - but maybe that's my issue? Easy off and on the highway. Only minus for us was we heard roosters early in the morning, and dogs barking most of the night - the chickens are local but the dogs belong to other campers - the camp can't help that. We would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Nice park with friendly management. Had a nice cafe but we did not eat there. This is a West Texas park with all gravel, very little grass or trees. Large pull throughs and made it nice for us not to have to unhook. Stayed one night. Dog run could use a little cleaning up. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice park and well maintained. Friendly staff and a cafe with great food. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

A very nice facility with pleasant staff. We've stayed here numerous times in passing East & West. We've always been pleased with our site (level) and the affordability of an evening meal or breakfast prepared at the on site restaurant- there was no need to unhook and travel elsewhere. The restrooms/showers were always clean and well kept. Surrounding grounds were nicely maintained. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Smallish Pet Walk area, but everything else was top notch. Reception, guide to site, cook in the small eatery on site, all were great. Prices in Diner great as is the food. Friendly and helpful staff. Love this campground. Great place to stop when travelling through Texas. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Great place to spend a night when driving across Texas. Clean wide spaces. Our satellite and Verizon broadband worked fine but the cable TV didn't work well. The enclosed dog run was small and one side was full of waste. We did like the Kafe and was served a good dinner by the friendly staff. The park is very easy to get to off the I-10. There is a good access gas station for motorhomes with a tow in town. We would not hesitate to stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice, level, gravel lot with adequate space. Clean shower with low water pressure. Their KOA Kafe served an excellent catfish dinner for a reasonable price. We camped here in a Truck Camper.
This campsite has easy access to and from the I-20, but without the noise of the traffic. Wide and very long pull through sites, friendly and helpful staff, and a cafe on site offering dinner and breakfast at very reasonable prices. This is an awesome over nighter, and I would definitely stay here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park was right off I-10, it was easy to navigate into the site, gravel. It was pet friendly, very clean bathroom & showers. Cafe on site, open for dinner and breakfast. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
It is a good park for short term stay with nice, helpful staff. The sites are gravel and pretty level, with good length. It appears to have had recent work on utilities, and they worked well. The showers need work-water dribbled out,and temperature fluctuated greatly (mens); temp fluctuated, and the valves were reversed (womens). It has a great little cafe-good food and reasonably priced. We would stop again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
After a long days drive this place was a pleasant surprise. Office very helpful and friendly. This is a southwest CG. All pull-thrus. All utilities worked great. We were there on a very cold night so we disconnected the water. They have a nice little diner right on the premise. Not much in this part of Texas, but this is an oasis in the desert We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
KOA should take lessons from this campground. The staff was excellent, the restaurant food was good, plus the people made you feel right at home. Sites were large and wide. Plus it was easy on easy off the highway. Note: Woodalls lists items the restaurant does not serve anymore. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Far enough off the Interstate so no noise. Wide, level, long pull through sites. The WiFi works good. Food at the small cafe is down home. We stop here if in the area. All the water was frozen but what do you expect when it's 4 degrees? We will stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Easy off/on I-10, but quiet at night. Sites: large, gravel, level, pull through, FHU/50amp, Cable TV, and Wi-Fi. All utilities worked well, plus good Verizon air card and cell service. Friendly staff, clean, well maintained buildings and grounds. Took advantage of free golf at local course. Reasonable rate with KOA card. Would be a 10, with concrete pads and paved roads. Will stay again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
What a nice place to stay! This campground is run by wonderful, friendly people who we enjoyed meeting. Our kids were thrilled with the playground and mini golf, which were a nice treat for them after spending 8 1/2 hours on the road. The sites are roomy and level with picnic tables. The view of the mountains all around is beautiful. They even have a Kafe that serves dinner and breakfast, and they will deliver it right to your site. I was surprised that the price was so reasonable compared to some other KOA's we have stayed in. This KOA doesn't charge extra for kids under the age of 12. It definitely goes on our favorites list and we will stay here again! We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a very nice (older) KOA. The park is clean and everyone is very friendly. They have a diner in the park serving breakfast and dinner, good food at a very good price. We stopped here overnight, but will return on our return trip. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Boy! I thought the Tall Pines KOA outside of Dayton, OH, was my favorite KOA, but I was wrong! In Texas, there's no place like the Van Horn KOA on I-10! Friendly, well-trained staff that obviously likes what they do, make any length of stay worthwhile, I'd think: but a one-nighter will leave you wanting to spend more time there. We didn't only because it was too windy to take advantage of their offer to play golf on them at a course nearby. The food was five star, if the menu was short (but not limited at all. They had fish, chicken pork, and beef to offer, along with your favorite beverage: and a great opportunity to kick back with fellow travelers and tell lies and swap experiences RVing. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here, and won't miss the next opportunity to repeat it. We camped here in a Motorhome.
If I could, I would rate this camp ground 6 1/2 stars. It's a great place to stop for the night if you're looking to stop somewhere between El Paso and San Antonio. It's essentially a dirt lot with full hookups, including cable TV and Wi-fi. The dead grass had sharp thorns in it that bothered both the kids and the dogs. The putt-putt golf has seen better days. That said, the hosts/staff were friendly and helpful. They allowed us to pull in and set up prior to checking in so I didn't have to set up in the dark. The sites themselves were level and everything, including the Wi-fi worked great. The diner which others have reviewed so well was pretty disappointing. They only had about 6 items on the menu and the price is steep for what you get. There were some permanent residents spread throughout the park, but all the RVs were in good condition, and we never saw any of the residents. Overall, it’s a good stop for the night. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Although this is a bit scruffy around the edges, we liked this park. It was quiet, level gravel, and had a nice cafe open for dinner with real food, not just burgers and fries. The people were very friendly. The spaces were large. Although we are only 30 ft long, there were 60 ft long RVs that had enough room. Pretty scenery. Has mini-golf and a clean pool. WiFi was slow. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Friendly staff. Very level and long sites. Good Wi-Fi and cable. Would have given a higher rating if it had not been for the roadways which are not gravel. There are just dirt and extremely dusty. Some of the permanent resident construction workers who live here, seem to think the speed limits don't pertain to them and cause vast dust clouds that blow all over and through everyone else's RV. Would probably not stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is another average KOA. It is nothing fancy but a good overnight stop. BUT, the Kafe was a different story. They have an onsite Kafe for dinner and breakfast. We had jumbo butterfly shrimp for dinner and it was the best ever. This place is worth the stop if nothing else but the Kafe. Also the mats in the showers are a nice touch. I wish more parks would use these. I hate stepping out of a shower onto a wet floor. We would stop here again if for nothing else but the KOA Kafe. Verizon wireless worked okay here. We camped here in a Motorhome.
You have to remember when you leave NM there is not a lot of options until you get to San Antonio on I-10 going east. It is an adequate place to stay. We have stopped through many times and this time the cafe was open (2nd time out of 8 stops). They do dinner and breakfast. They installed a 'booster' or something so the wifi is MUCH better than the last time we were here (July 2010). Cable is OK, water pressure awesome. Spaces OK, just grass but not piled on top of each other like a lot of parks. I just wish KOA would reduce their prices as they are the most expensive of all parks. I guess the free Wi-Fi and cable contributes to that. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
There is friendly staff. The park was empty and quiet. It has gravel roads and sites. The sites were level. There are easy to get in and out of pull through sites and park in general. We stopped one night and left early the next morning. We camped here in a Motorhome.
It is ok for an over night stop. The cable was ok. There are long level, grassy sites. It is pet friendly and quiet. A typical KOA, old and overpriced. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is an older KOA. It is a good over-night stop. The lots are long and level. The owners are great. They were in the process of redoing the office. They said they were going to redo the restrooms also. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Our site was level, dirt with some grass and long enough to pull through without disconnecting our toad. It rained all night making it very muddy the next morning. We did not use any facilities for the one night we stayed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would consider staying here again when in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The only good thing I can say about this campground is that it offers full 50 amp hookups, including cable and Wi-Fi. Beyond that it is old and nothing to look forward to. It is simply a large field covered in gravel with hookups. If there are shaded sites, I didn't see them. Like most KOA campgrounds, they think there is something special about their park and they can charge more. I think $35 for this location is outrageous. Problem is, if you find yourself here and need to spend the night there just aren't many better choices. I will plan future trips to bypass this location. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a nice KOA for an overnight stay or longer. There is not too much highway noise since it is not right next to the highway. It features grass, trees and level sites. The toilets and restrooms are older but clean. We would stay here again when passing through. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a good RV park for an overnight stay when traveling east or west on I-10 in West Texas. While there are several other options in Van Horn, this appears to be one of the better ones and there are few other choices other than the Van Horn area in this region. The check in was friendly and efficient. The grounds are in good condition. There was a very strong wind when we arrived and it lasted all night, but that certainly not be blamed on the RV park. We had breakfast at the on-site cafe. That was very handy and the food was good. We would return if travel arrangements required another stay in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The sites are the usual KOA set up. They are all gravel, but level. Mostly over nighters on their way east or west on I-10. Not as noisy as other near the Interstate KOAs, even though the railroad is nearby. I think the trains are going by so fast that you don't get much rumble. The big plus, is the staff and the cafe. Really nice people and the food is great even if at twice the price. Would stay again when driving the long trip between San Antonio area and El Paso. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park with friendly staff. Has very level sites, good showers, good Wi-Fi and located in a quiet area. Good for an overnight stay. The pool was not open. There is a cafe on site, which we did not use. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here over-night for the KOA card rate. Level, gravel sites. 1/2 mile off the freeway sure made it nice and quiet at night. Showers and restrooms were old but clean, all worked well in the laundry room. Good Wi-Fi and cable TV. Friendly office staff, restaurant on-site for dinner and breakfast. Miniature golf and pool for the kids. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
The staff was very nice, and the services were good, but this is still just a plain, unadorned KOA. It met our needs very well, but I can’t give it many points for appearance. It wasn’t trashy—just not very attractive. We understand this is West Texas, but a little desert landscaping would improve it quite a bit. (It looked much prettier in its website photos when the trees and grass were green.) The roads and sites are gravel. There is a table, but no grill. The utilities were fine; the cable was good with lots of channels; the Wi-Fi was strong. We were only here for an overnight so there were some amenities that we did not see or use. The price seemed a little high, but we would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here on our way to Arizona, we didn't even unhook from the truck. From our short visit we can say that their cable and Wi-Fi were very good. Sites were easy to get in & out of and ample long. Our rig, including the truck, is just under 60'. We had no power issues, seemed to get the correct amount of power from the pole. We filled our propane bottles here and their rates were pretty reasonable: $24 for 30lb bottle. I honestly felt $35 for just an overnight stay was a bit high but you don't get many options out in the middle of now where. Not many more choices past Van Horn until you get to El Paso. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
It has very nice staff but this place is definitely not worth the price. It is all sand and gravel and very plain. The cable channels were very limited but the Wi-Fi worked well. For the same price I have been staying in lovely parks with very nice amenities. This may be my last stay in an over-priced KOA. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
The first time we stopped overnight, it had snowed the day before and had melted and their roads and sites were a mess of red clay and mud. It was obvious they had a drainage issue. Management was very friendly and apologized for the mess. On our return trip, weather was much better and water was no longer an issue. Clean and quiet, on the opposite side of town from the railroad tracks. Would return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Dust bowl park. They have horses so the flies are bad. The people were friendly and the sites are small. My biggest complaint was they filled my propane tank up as we left, and did not close the overflow. When I sent them two e-mails about it, they would not respond. Due to that, I would not go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Typical KOA: costs too much, good signage, lots of plastic stuff around. There is a big pebble/dirt parking area with plenty of room. It has a basic cafe and very basic store. Friendly staff. It is not worth the price, but apparently better than the other choices in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Whoever owns/operates this campground cares about customer service. Everyone was friendly from the desk, to the escort to the site, and the little cafe. All the facilities were clean, the wifi worked well, and there were plenty of cable channels. There was no traffic noise. Van Horn isn't much of a destination but if you are in the area this is an excellent park to stay at. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Large sites big enough to comfortably get into with a 40 foot 5th wheel and truck and not have to disconnect. Nice distance between neighbors. Owner and staff very friendly. They even had a free Thanksgiving dinner buffet for campers. They have a pet walk but no fenced in area for pets like the neighboring RV park in the area advertised. There is an on site cafe where you can have breakfast and dinner. We would camp here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a nice, clean, friendly park. The roads and sites were gravel. They had a cafe where the food was just OK. The restrooms/showers were old but clean. There was no road noise. They have free popcorn at check-in. The best park in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The Best KOA that you can spend the night at, no frills but the KOA people are extremely helpful and nice. This is a must stay place if you are on I-10. I would have given the place a 10 but the restaurant was closed in the evening and that is one of the reasons I stop here. Great place to overnight. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed here one night traveling from Dallas to Arizona. It is a nice park for a short stay. The managers are very nice and helpful. The sites are pretty much sand with some grass in between. Large pull through sites with all hookups including cable TV. The Wifi worked very well. I normally would not stay at a KOA because they are usually not very nice and overpriced, but this is an exception. Would stay here again for a one night stop. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great place for an overnight. Stayed here while en-route from San Antonio to San Diego. Neat, clean faculty. Gravel drives and gravel pull-throughs. Modern, neat, clean hookups. Close enough to the freeway to be convenient: far enough to avoid noise. Other reviewers have mentioned the cafe: apparently the owner's wife is the only cook and they were out of town when I stopped. Call ahead to confirm if you want dinner! All in all, a good overnight stop in West Texas. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A decent older KOA type facility. Nice easy pull through sites. A good choice for an overnight when going through this part of West Texas. Friendly hosts who helped when I had a question on cable reception. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Stayed here one night enroute to NM. Cabin was very adequate except for mattresses which had to be double stacked for comfort. Dog slept on floor, no problems. Small cafe on-site that serves excellent breakfast. Bath house was older, but clean and functional. Campground was far enough from Interstate so that noise was not a problem. Campsites appeared well maintained. Will use this site in future trips to NM with new 5th wheel. We camped here in a Campground Cabin.
This is a nice overnight park. It is close enough to the interstate for quick access, but far enough away so that you don't hear the traffic noise. Staff was very friendly, and it seemed like a nice atmosphere (kids playing, folks talking, etc.). Showers were a little cramped, but overall I would give this park a thumbs up. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We stayed overnight on our way to El Paso with friends. We had a very quiet night rest. There was lots of room to walk our pets. The staff was very friendly and helpful. My friend had problems retracting his levelers. One of the staff worked with him for an hour to diagnose the problem and retract the levelers. They have a nice cafe on site and miniature golf and pool for the kids. Although this is an older park it has been well maintained. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A quiet park on the southeast side of Van Horn. Sites are flat with grass and a shade tree; ours also had an ocotillo in bloom. The wi-fi was slow, but the cable worked fine. The bathrooms are older but clean. The showers were strong. Chickens roam around and there's an emu next door. The cafe appeared to be popular with other campers. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed overnight enroute from Arizona. Overall, the campground is a good overnight stop. Our disappointment was the WiFi Internet access. During the evening, the signal was strong but access was impossible. It would appear that there is not enough bandwidth to accommodate the number of campers. The park looked like it was perhaps 30% full. We finally got through at 5:00AM to send one email. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
We were very pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a park in Van Horn. The staff was exceptional and offered to guide you to your site if needed. The sites were very level gravel and we noticed that the staff was placing people in every other site so as not to be right next to one another. Which was very nice when they were not completely full. The cable TV and wireless internet worked very well, and we also discovered a very nice small restaurant right on the premises. We had a very good dinner from that restaurant for our overnight stay, and it was very good! We were very pleased with this park and would highly recommend it to all. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We over nighted here on our way to San Antonio. The park was more than adequate as a stop over. This is probably not a destination site for most people. The staff was friendly and the sites had easy access. We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
A little bit close to the interstate for noise but very convenient for stopping overnight. Adequate space for larger rigs. Simple and clean; no surprises. Not upscale, but they don't pretend to be; what you see is what you get. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great overnight spot, but checked some of the other parks and was a little more impressed. Average for this part of the country as far as little grass, lots of gravel, however, fairly large spots. Van Horn has beautiful mountain views. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice over night stop. Typical KOA.. Friendly staff, good free wifi. Nice gravel pull thrus. Great little cafe. Open for Breakfast and Dinner. Would definitely stop here again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This is a great spot for an overnight stop. Wi-Fi works pretty well. Verizon card works okay here. They offer dinners and breakfasts at good prices. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice for a KOA. Off the highway so it was quiet. Operators were so nice, helpful and friendly. There is zero shade, so for us, we would not want to be here in the hot weather. As always, compared to so many other parks, KOA is expensive from our point of view. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A very nice typical KOA with very friendly staff. The breakfast cafe (Kamper Kafe) was a nice touch, and a great way to start out the day. Very nice for a one-night stay. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Sites were level. We were able to stay hooked up to our fifth wheel. But, we weren't able to walk outside without walking on stickers. Very difficult for our dog to go outside. Had to pick her up and carry her to a safe patch of grass. Not sure if we would stay there again. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We got in late but had no trouble getting to a site. The sites are level and spacious; the restrooms and showers clean and secure. The cafe offered a really good breakfast for a reasonable price. This was our first night on our first trip in our motorhome and a great way to start the trip. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This campground is only a one night stopover for us. We always stop here when in Van Horn. The management is super. They have a small cafe at the campground with excellent meals. They will even deliver to your rv site. Reasonably priced as well. The office has gifts, food items and rv items to purchase. There is a computer with high speed and/or wifi, and they will let you check your email or surf the web, as long as you don't abuse the use. We really enjoy our stay at this KOA. Peaceful and quiet. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Very nice KOA, used it as an overnight stop. The small cafe is nice for a great quick dinner after being on the road. Great view of the mountains and check out the ostrich in the fence at the back right of the park. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park, clean and neat, wide sites and nice road to sites. On site Eatery for Dinner and Breakfast, great food at fantastic prices. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Good park with great management ready to assist you in any way. The 50 amp service showed a little low in voltage on our gauge but still adequate. Everything else is real nice for being in a real dismal place on a real dismal super windy day. We waited out the wind event for two nights. Chuey's Restaurant is a real good one in town; check it out. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great overnight park when traveling I-10. Easy in from the freeway. Great free Wi-Fi. This will be my stopping place from now own. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This one seems to be under renovations or expansion. Good level sites with grass. Good restaurants in town. Quiet, clean place. Friendly staff. Easy on and off freeway. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This campground is very nice for an overnight stay. Sites are level and plenty of space between sites. The management provides a printed "Welcome" sheet which states that they are on the edge of the desert and sometimes the cable TV works and sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes the Wi-Fi works and sometimes it does not. Well true to their statement, the cable system provided poor reception on some channels and good reception on others. The Wi-Fi came in and then was lost. I guess that is ok because we are warned in advance? I find it an odd way to do business. After all: are they not paying for a service that they are not receiving, and then passing that cost along to their customers? If you are interested in cable TV or Wi-Fi, this is probably not the place to choose for your stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camped here overnight. The sites and view were great as were the hookups. The WIFI worked very well...We would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Stayed here for a quick one night stop during cross-country trip. site was gravel surrounded by grass and was quite level, and long enough to stay hitched with 28' TT. Had an end pull-through which had a wonderful mountain view to the east. Far enough off I-10 that there was no road noise. Facilities at this exit to gas up, etc. Very small pool which we did not use, and mini-golf holes and playground. Office/store is open in morning, closed mid-day and re-opens from 3-7 pm. Check-in was friendly and efficient. would not hesitate to stay again if in the area. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This is a good overnight park. The staff was friendly and the facilities clean. The sites are large, level, gravel, some grass and a few shade trees. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
We just stopped for the night. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were dated, but OK. One (of 3) shower stalls was out of service in the men's room. The view of the mountains at sunset was a nice treat. Furthermore, the location was about a mile off the interstate, which kept the noise to a minimum. Our only problem was an encounter with a fire ants soon after we set up. Having dealt with these little monsters when I lived in the South, I immediately un-hooked and requested another site. The management was most helpful and we relocated to a bug-free site. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This is a good overnight stop while driving through Texas on I-10. 50 amp, WIFI, and pull throughs make it a good stop for a big rig. There is a pool and a playground, but this is also in a very dry climate where dust blows frequently. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there is a little cafe on the premises with good basic food, such as hamburgers and chicken fingers. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We stayed overnight on our way to Missouri. Although I had called several days earlier to get a reservation, no one returned my call. On the up side when I showed up there were plenty of spots open and the staff was very friendly. The rate reflects my KOA Value card. Sites were wide enough for our 39' with slides and although there wasn't much in the line of vegetation it made a perfectly good spot for an over night stay. I would stay here again anytime we are in the area. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
A typical dry West Texas Campground with limited vegetation but it does have very long, level pull through sites, good ingress and egress, and strong free wi-fi. Better than the average KOA and well worth the money. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great site. Everything available for everyone. People were very helpful and friendly. Spaces are very well marked with lots of room for big rigs. We camped here in a Motorhome.
I have stayed here two or three times a year since 2001. The owner is retired military from FT Bliss. I have watched him work this place over for 5 years. I have always loved the area and plan on staying at this park for a couple of months next year after I get straight with the VA. The place is always clean. The owner is always doing something. He was so proud when the wireless was put in. The cable sometimes is bad. But, that's life in the desert. No good grounds equal no good TV. Nice little camp store and the cafe serves some pretty good food. I love it when they bring dinner to your trailer. All in all, I cannot recommend this place any higher. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
One of the nicest KOA's we've stayed at. Really friendly and accommodating staff, great view of the mountains and a nice little restaurant to boot. If you're driving through Texas, this is a great place to stop for a night or two. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. They offer an on site cafe that has a dinner menu and breakfast menu. Sites are large spacious and level. Propane is available. Very nice and well kept park. Easy off of I10 and park is quiet. Would certainly stop here again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
Very friendly staff. Easy to get to. Fine for overnight. Grass and gravel sites are a little messy as you get grass in the coach. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Good for an overnight stay. Staff went out of their way to be helpful to everyone when an ice storm closed I-10 for part of the day. We elected to stay over even after highway opened. Small cafe is a bonus. Would use again when traveling in the area. We camped here in a Motorhome.
This was a "lifesaver" park, we had just left San Antonio and had to go to Tucson, but that was not feasible in one day. Van Horn was a pleasant spot to stop for one night. The Staff was really pleasant and helpful in getting us situated. The sites are easily accessible and adequate spacing. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Fairly quiet, off the main road. An older park but pretty well kept actually. Nice staff. Over priced like almost all KOA's, but we liked it there and would return. We camped here in a Motorhome.
We camp at this park twice a year in June and August on our way to and from California. The owner is so helpful and friendly and the park is maintained to perfection. We esp. like the clean pool and watching the many rabbits which explore the area. The Wi-Fi works perfectly too. We were sorry the KOA kitchen was closed for the end of the summer as the meals in the past have been delicious. Looking forward to our stops next summer. We camped here in a Motorhome.
The park appeared to be clean and well laid-out, but we never got to explore it as it was infested with blood-hungry mosquitos. We got one jack down before our skin lit on fire and we dove for the repellent. We managed to get power and water hooked up (forget about sewer) and then dove into the trailer, where we spent the rest of the night taking care of indoor duties and swatting vampires. We dearly wanted to shower off the repellent, but didn't dare. It was a very itchy and uncomfortable night, and the morning departure was only slightly less uncomfortable. If the owner would spray his campground my rating would surely have been a lot higher. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
This was our very first camping experience and we had a great time - thanks to the owner. He went above & beyond - even to the point of getting his computer guy from town to help me get my PC internet settings straightened out. If we have the chance, we'll be by again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

I gave this park a 10, because everything advertised WORKED and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Owner is considering putting in a hot tub, as the pool was clean and cool. The wifi was excellent considering I was put in a corner supersite that had a fire ring and nice picnic table. There is little noise that you can hear outside, but inside the RV, we didn't hear anything. I would definitely stay here again. An oasis in the desert. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
This park was ok. It was definitely away from the road and railroad tracks, so the noise was down. However, it was really close to the city dump or sewage plant. Maybe the wind was just blowing in the wrong direction, but my wife and I couldn't sit outside the night we stayed. I might stay again...but would have to bring a nose plug. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Convenient to I-10, but very little road or train noise. Helpful, friendly staff at check-in. Long, level, wide pull-throughs, and wide interior roads; can stay hooked-up for an easy morning exit. Good voltage, and water pressure; and FREE, fast WIFI. Good stopping point between middle Texas and points West. A little more expensive than other campgrounds in town, however, to us, a much better choice and value. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Quiet and Convenient. In the "middle of nowhere," but a good stop for overnight. Nice long pull-thrus. Quiet, yet close to HWY I-10. Free Wi-Fi with good access from all sites. On-site cafe was not open the evening we were there (a Monday) but was available for breakfast. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Visited park in 40' motorhome. Found park to be a typical KOA. Sites and roads were gravel. Grass in between sites. Sites were large enough for any number of slides. Utilities were modern and well placed. Each site had a table. Found park to be big rig & satellite friendly. Park was fine for an overnight stay. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great overnight stop, restrooms immaculate, great little restaurant, salisbury steak and shrimp were great and the cucumber salad is homemade and yummy. Try the wine made in Ft. Stockton, TX., great/cheap. Great campground. Level sites. Owners very nice and helpful. We camped here in a Motorhome.

Very nice park for an overnight stay. Can't say much for the town. Chuy's restaurant comes recommended by John Madden and the food is actually OK. WiFi is very user friendly and has a strong signal. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
What a great overnight stop, near I-10 and no road noise. Had breakfast in the cafe...a real treat. Wi-fi worked great and every site is a pull through. Would stay here again. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Very clean, staff was really friendly! They have a small cafe and served us wonderful Country Fried Steak right in our Coach! Road into campground is not paved, just crushed shell. Once you are there it is a really nice and safe campground. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Great park with easy 1-10 access. Owners are very helpful, friendly, and seem to really care about their park. They have set up free wi-fi and also have modem in office. Sites are large, some shaded, and most have mountain views. Park is clean and well cared for. Owners also have a small restaurant. We did not eat there but the menu looked great. We camped here in a Motorhome.
Nice park for a short stay. We used it for an overnighter between Dallas and Tucson. Park is easy to locate about 3/4 mile from I-10 but no traffic noise was noticable. Usual KOA gravel drive thru sites made for easy set up and exit the next day. Several truck stops nearby to tank up for you next leg. Not much to do in this area but I recommend it for en route overnighters. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
I came mainly for the free WiFi internet, which did function flawlessly. After responding during registration that I didn't have a KOA value card, the owner volunteered that they also accept other discounts such as Good Sam. I felt the owners were as interested in my satisfaction as they were in collecting my fee -- a trait rarely seen in my 14-plus years of full-timing. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We were pleasantly surprised at the accommodations at this campground. We chose it because it was midway between two other stops and they had free WiFi. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though they are a KOA park they still honored the Good Sam discount. It happened to be my wife’s birthday so the catfish and shrimp dinners were a unexpected treat. The WiFi worked fine as long as I went outside the rig to get an unobstructed view of their antenna. I could not get a signal from inside the rig, but what the heck, it was free. We highly recommend this park. We camped here in a Fifth Wheel.
Pulled in for an overnight stop from West Coast to Houston. Very nice cafe on-site with great fried shrimp dinner and all the trimmings delivered to our coach. After a long drive from Yuma in one day the delicious food was a wonderful surprise!! Quiet park, about 1/4 mile south of I-10, enough to dull the freeway noise. It was the dead of winter, so the trees had no leaves, but appear to be fairly large. Spaces are level prepared gravel, nicely spaced, and the one we had was long enough to accommodate 38'coach and vehicle. Roads adequate to manuever rig. Definitely would stay here again on east / west trip! We camped here in a Motorhome.
Excellent campground in the middle of nowhere. We decided to stop while traveling from
Houston to El Paso and we are glad we did. Real friendly folks, free wireless internet covers the park. The site we were in was over 120 feet long. The swimming pool was closed for the winter. They served dinner and breakfast. Thumbs up! We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

You know, this place is way out in the middle of nowhere! If you need an overnight stop
in West Texas, it's pretty good, though. Very friendly staff. Lots of room in this park for "Big Rigs." Lots of room! Gravel sites and roads. Trees not a problem. Opted not to take Hwy 54 up to Carlsbad. Couldn't get good info on road so called fire dept. Contruction and mud from rains, so backtracked to Pecos (90 mi.) to take 285 north to Carlsbad (great road!). I'll give it a solid "8". Not a bad park. Stayed here in Oct. '04 with 42' motor home with toad. We camped here in a Motorhome.
