This is one of our very favorite campgrounds. We've always given it a 9 or 10 rating; unfortunately, this time we can not. The place is as nice & secluded & quiet as ever, even more so this time, as there were few campers. But the strangest things had to do with the volunteers, there seemed to be very little volunteer activity or presence; in fact, when the weekend campers left on Sunday morning, so did the volunteers, leaving their RV's in place. This gave me the impression that the locals were using the volunteer sites as a free summer long camp sites. There was certainly enough work to be done, as the place had the appearance of not being ready to open. A few problems; 1. No one on the gate, or even came around to see if you were registered. 2. The potable water fill had obviously been frozen & the valve was split, leaking badly, but I wouldn't put that water in my tank any ways as it more resembled chocolate milk. It apparently hadn't been flushed after the winter. 3. One of the 3 shower bldgs. had no hot water, another had NO water on the men's side, (hot or cold). 4. The bathrooms in the picnic & beach areas weren't even unlocked. The hikes around the area were as great as ever, & the pond & lake were beautiful as always. We will be back, but hope they get things taken care of. We camped here in a Motorhome.

This was our 2nd trip to this national forest campground; it certainly will not be our last. Our site was pretty level & wide. We love this fully wooded, quiet & peaceful place. It is truly unfortunate that Trout Pond itself is drained, but Rock Cliff Lake is as beautiful as ever. As said previously, if you're looking for somewhere with a lot to do, (other than nature) this may not be the place for you. The roads into the area are narrow, hilly, & winding, but completely do-able with a little common sense. The bathrooms & showers are clean & functional. While there is not an actual pool, there is a very nice sandy swimming area at the lake. There is a nice picnic area & playground. We camped here in a Motorhome.

I have camped here since I was little. I have always enjoyed coming over here as everyone is very nice and friendly. Bathrooms are clean! Sites are well spaced and in private area. Very secluded place. Great place to swim in pond. Very clean beach area with grassy area to sit away from sand. Tent area has small gravel, great for tent camping. Great play area for kids with a volley ball net to play. Lights out is strickly enforced along with gate closing after hours. Someone always available to help you if needed. Very cheap rates, a great value! We camped here in a Tent.
