Were told about this hidden gem of a campground by a friend. We liked is so much that we actually joined Thousand Trails because of the campground. Lots of activities to keep busy with if you want to stay in the campground all day. Decent movie selection at the store with recent movie rentals. Lodge's are very nice and well maintained. Site was level and all utilities were close and worked well. We will definitely be back as we belong to a few wineries in the area and this will be our stop to pick up our wine a few times a year.

Stayed over Labor Day weekend with a church group in a group site. This is a big park and has a lot of things to do. Boat rentals are available. Lots of hiking and fishing, although we didn't catch any. They also have an astronomy program once a month. We will definitely be back.

My first experience with the campground was not a happy one. This is a gated campground and the gates are closed at all times so one must enter a code to enter. I arrived at 9:40 on a Saturday morning. This campground does not open until 10:00 on Saturday. I entered after hours code and was told that "We don't open until 10:00 AM". I Had to wait 20 minutes after backing up RV because there is no turn around at the entrance. Once we were allowed to check-in to the park, there was just signing of the receipt. No map, no written rules, the only rule was that our dog "Must" be walked outside of the park. Fortunately, there is a wonderful nature preserve behind the park. The campground seems to be for full timers. It rained most of the time we were there so didn't meet any neighbors. The park is rundown especially for a KOA. All hookups worked as expected but had to use an extension for the waste hose. The location is on a one way divided road with no easy turn around. To get to the park from the north one must drive 1.5 miles further and then make a right to turn around, to make a left turn going the opposite way. (not the fault of the RV Park just bad planning with the county roads.) They are all back-in sites, no tables, pool not kept up, and trash dumpsters are only in one area. The park was close to where we needed to be but we probably will not stay here again.

The park is big with a wonderful dog exercise area divided for both large and small dogs. The staff were very helpful especially since it was a holiday weekend and we had a problem with our motorhome. They were very understanding and even offered to refund our stay if we could not get our RV fixed and had to leave early. The restrooms were clean and well stocked, the pool area was very nice and there are a few child playgrounds in the park for the kids. This seems to be a great park for families with children who all had a good time. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit San Diego.

We stayed in the lower loop: site 90. The sites are very large with lots of grass and trees between sites. It's a short walk to the beach on a nice wooden board walk. The only problem we had was the pet areas in the park are limited and dogs are not allowed on the beach due to nesting birds. There is a very good dog beach a few miles south in Cayucos. For a boon-docking site this was one of the best. Would definitely stay again.
