We were so excited to see this campground in Topeka with such easy access off of I-70. Finally, there is a nice place to stay en route between Colorado and St. Louis. The park was beautifully maintained and very secure. Sparkling clean pool and huge, fenced dog park. This is more like a park you would see in an upscale tourist destination- but for half the price. As one reviewer said above, there are some long term campers who have spread out at their sites all around the campground. We'd have to agree that it would be better to have them all along one side so you didn't feel like you were in the middle of the neighborhood so much. That said, everyone was friendly and well-mannered. Just fyi, the sites at the far West end get more shade from the huge bowl of trees surrounding the park and the sites at the North end get a little more highway noise. Overall, we loved this place.
This is a beautiful RV park near all the tourist sites in the area. It does have a 10-year rule, but they seemed to bend that a bit as long as your rig was well-maintained. The park is laid out so there really isn't a bad site, but we preferred to be facing East. The permanent sites have lots of upscale landscaping and the short-stay spots are intermixed in the newer area of the park. We used the RV detailing service that did a great job and was reasonable too. The workout room, restrooms and showers were the nicest we've seen. Those desiring a "campy" feel or looking for a kid-friendly atmosphere may not enjoy this park as much as we did.
This was our 3rd stay at Worlds of Fun Village. Everything was immaculate and in good order. This park is easy to get to from the highway and RVers in any category will feel comfortable here. The proximity to the amusement park adds to the value. The pool is clean and well-maintained with life guards present. A covered trash can and clean grill at each campsite are nice too. There is some noise from the street close by and you will hear the roller coaster too, but not to a bothersome degree. This park is great for a short stay or for those wanting a home base in the KC metro area for awhile.
We come here often to bike the Katy Trail and visit Historic St. Charles, and the park's access can't be beat. The restaurant is truly great and the park is well maintained. It does seem a bit over-priced, but it has a corner on the market in the area and is close to many attractions. The owners may want to consider better security at the back of the park by the street as I've seen transients cut through the park several times. Also some questionable folks engaged in questionable transactions late at night in that street too. Overall though, the park itself is secure and enjoyable. Tip- don't get a site on the end near the railroad bridge and lumbar yard- it is a little noisy. You also don't want to be too near the trash dumpster near the restaurant. It can be a bit smelly, but is not unsightly. Weekends are pretty quiet though.
