We stayed here on our way home just as a place to relax and to check this campground out. This campground is a gem. A regional park that has huge, level, pull through sites. Our site was 90 foot long, great full hookups, 50 amp, and free Wi-Fi that worked well. The sites have a small concrete pad on the door side, a picnic table, and a nice natural wooded buffer between the sites. The place was quiet, except for a couple who ran a couple 2 cycle mini scooters with seats on them that made a lot of noise. I didn’t blame the campground for the noise, but the scooter owners for their lack of consideration for other campers. The main road into the park is paved, but the roads to access the campground and its sites were hard packed sand and looked to have recently been graded. They were relatively smooth, and campers were respectful of the speed limits so there was no dust. This campground is part of a regional/county park and offers a couple of fresh water lakes for fishing and one has a sandy beach for swimming, and there is also a boat ramp on a saltwater river that lead to the ocean. We absolutely enjoyed just relaxing at this campground and taking walks to the lakes and boat launch. This campground was only 50 miles from our home so it will be a place we will return to for those relaxation trips to just get away. The access from RT 95 is very easy. The staff was friendly, registration was quick and with the long pull-throughs, this is also a great place to stop just for a night while traveling to or from Florida. We will definitely return.

The KOA was nice. The sites were fairly level, at least the camper portion. The staff was friendly, and the registration process was quick, and we were escorted to our site by staff – even though it was raining heavily. Our particular pull through was level pulling in and where the camper was, but dropped off a bit to the exit road side. Because of the angle of my truck to the 5th wheel it was a little more difficult to unhitch. The campground area we were in was wooded and mostly pull-thourghs, full hookup, 50 amp sites. The campground was pretty quiet unlike what I heard about many of the ocean front campgrounds in Myrtle Beach. The Wi-Fi was great; best I have had at a campground so far. We were visiting Myrtle Beach to visit relatives, shop, and see a show at the Carolina Orpy, so not being right along the ocean was great for us – much less noise and traffic. Even on a slight angle I had no problem hitching or getting out of our site. The campground had a number of older camp models for rent and cabins (no facilities). We would stay here again.

We stopped at James River for 2 nights on our way to Myrtle Beach. The campground was great, the sites were a good size and with a nice buffer between the sites. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The inner site access roads were paved and wide enough to handle big rigs. We used the campground's shuttle service into Charleston’s Visitors Center which was very convenient and reasonable at $10 per person round trip. The shuttle driver was a campground Work Kamp resident and was very friendly and informative. This is a wonderful Campground to stay at to visit Charleston or just relax. Wi-Fi was good. We stayed in a full hookup, 50 amp, pull-through site. We will return again and stay longer next time.
