Not a great place to stay although easy on and off I-40. Bad Wi-Fi, water hookups are a foot underground in a 12 inch pipe and you must be a contortionist to connect, dog poop everywhere, cable not working. Noticed othr campers were using the main cable manifold so I hooked up to that and reception was no better and still fuzzy. There are only 6 pull-throughs and all were booked so had to disconnect toad. (could have continued on but was very weary of continuing to fight the extreme wind any longer). Intake clerk was very nice. Did not use restrooms or showers. It was quiet.
Very enjoyable setting, friendly/ helpful owner, and river access with free canoes and kayaks. Decent Wi-Fi and very quiet. If you are looking for a relaxing soothing place to kick back and swim, fish, boat, or take in the local scenery you have found it. Don’t get me wrong this place is rustic and if you’re looking for fancy don’t come. We happened on this site by accident. A campground down the road was full. So we gave this a bit out of the way spot a chance and are glad we did.
Wi-Fi had a strong signal. Our site overlooking the Bay allowed us to observe the large tide changes and take in the beautiful sunsets. Very close to Campobello Island and West Quoddy Light. Very level grassy sites. This was one of the best campground experiences we have ever had. The location was great, the host was great, and our fellow campers were great.
Made reservations 8 months in advance and was told that camp sites had full hook-ups including sewer. After arrival we assessed the sites and noticed that there were no sewer hook-ups at any of the sites. When speaking to the owner we were informed that he shut down the sewer hook-ups because "campers" were making a mess, and he had no intention of re-opening the hook-ups. We then asked if there were shower facilities available and again the answer was no. Since we had five people in our RV, with no sewer and no shower facilities, we chose not to stay. The location was perfect for us, but unfortunately we did not find the owner friendly or accommodating, so we had to find another campground in the area. We would not recommend this campground to those who really need full hook-ups.
We enjoyed our stay there, very good location for doing, Gold coast, Manhattan, Montauk Light, Hamptons, and to go for a nice walk on the beach. I can not imagine being hear during the summer. It has to be chaotic; there are 500 Beach cabanas right next door and lots of beach clubs in the immediate area.
This is a wonderful inexpensive alternative to some other facility in the area. We truly enjoyed it there. We drove our Jeep on the beach, that was great experience. WARNING: there are some kind of yellow flowers and small spiny cacti that will stick to everything including your dog, and they hurt. The last day of operation was on 10/10/10, and we had to leave this little bit of paradise even though it was 83 degrees, and the campground had a lot of individuals there. (US government I guess.)
Lake is actually a large (swimming pool look alike) lots of seasonal folks. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I was surprised the campground was full, and we did have to move or leave to keep full hookups (we left).
We have been to this campground before it was KOA. It is old and sites are difficult to pull into with toad attached. It is way over priced. The RV dealer on site was more than helpful and honest diagnosing a battery problem I was experiencing.
Staff appeared very confused and unfriendly. While walking my dog I observed lots of no dog sections. Very noisy, from I-95 and small airplanes overhead. Sites very close together. Really loved the Richmond area which was the only reason we spent 4 days there.
