We enjoy state parks over RV Resorts, and this was our kind of place. Only a few hundred yards to the beach and ocean. Shaded sites that are not right on top of each other. (They are closer than most state parks, but for a major tourist attraction town they are better than I expected.) The bathrooms and showers are not the cleanest I've seen, but I blame that on the campers rather than the parks or host. Staff was very friendly. Make sure you do the scavenger hunt that you can pick-up at the visitors center. Only downside was aircraft taking off from the airport that was nearby that would shatter the silence periodically, but nothing you can't live with.
Good location, close to major stores and attractions. Pretty park. Some campsites were very close together. Park staff was not very friendly, but that appeared to be hit-or-miss. Appeared to be a lot of RV there that could be used for weekend getaways. Overall a nice park, but my key to returning to campground/resort is how welcome we are made to feel. In this park we just didn't feel as if we were welcomed guests.
Very nice campground located next to Rend Lake. Very mature pine trees provide lots of shade. Very family friendly. Nice campground for people who are accustomed to camping in state parks and/or who are not looking for an RV resort.
Beautiful area! Summer weekends get crowded with a party atmosphere. They have canoe and raft rentals for floating. The "beach" area is a great place to hang out at once the floats trips have shoved off for the day, it's an easy walk as it's part of the campgrounds. Bathrooms seem to be keep as clean as possible for all the people that were there the weekend that we stayed. Watch for lower hanging branches if you have a larger RV or motorhome. Sites appeared to be mostly dirt or gravel.
Beautiful setting. Kids had a great time playing at the river and checking out the exhibits at the Visitor's Center. We saw deer roaming the park nearly every day. Fairly well stocked general store, but lots of "stuff". If you have the ability, take your bikes because they have a wonderful bike and walking trail. Make sure you fill your fresh water tanks before you set-up camp, they do not have water at the sites.
Very cramped park. I think the main draw is the Trader's Village next door, which we did have fun at. We were not aware of the flea market until we arrived the evening before, so it was a pleasant surprise. We only stayed two days. I used the shower house twice after they were just cleaned and the first day was OK, but the second day the toilet was still dirty and clogged I believe.
The park is fantastic! The bathrooms were very clean and modern. The pictures don't do it justice, it's a very well groomed park. But, the staff left a bit to be desired. Not the friendliest staff we have encountered, you would think that with such a nice clean park greeting someone when they walk into the office would be a very small common courtesy. My wife walked into the office three times during our week long stay and not once was she greeted, let alone someone taking the time to smile. We also asked about the military discount (I am previous military, and my son is current military) and were told that they couldn't give it to us because we were in the busy season with the Riverwalk Holiday Festivals, but they couldn't tell us that until we had arrived.
Let me start by saying we camped here Memorial Day weekend. Most of the employees were very friendly and helpful. Nice facilities. Short drive to Hot Springs & BathHouse Row. At times, the restrooms could have been cleaner but for Memorial Day probably not too bad. Great pool. Nice shaded sites but spaces were a little snug for our <30' MH and TOAD (but I think it had more to do with our individual site due to a tree). Wouldn't bother bringing fishing pools for the fishing pond. Overall would stay again if in the area.
First time camping in our new (to us) motorhome. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice mature tree shaded sites, plus open sites available for those looking for satellite access. Could not pick up TV signal and no cable, so bring movies for rainy days (they do have small selection of DVDs to rent). Very reasonable prices in their General Store. This is a campground that we could definitely see ourselves coming back to visit.
