Good central location for Aztec Ruins National Monument, Chaco Canyon, Durango and the San Juan River. Cell phone service here is good but WiFi was very "iffy" - network was up and down constantly. The Animas River borders the property and is a nice area to walk our dog. The owners of the park were friendly and escort you to your site. They do not have the spacious sites you might find in other parks but that is reflected in the price. Overall this was a very comfortable place to stay while fishing the San Juan River.
Wonderful park. Wide paved streets and level concrete parking. Spacious sites. Staff escorts you to your space, gets you properly parked and makes sure you are comfortable with hookups. Continental breakfast each morning was good and very busy. Newly remodeled dog run was excellent. Entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
We stayed here from June 27 through September 27. We had intended to stay one month but a short time after we arrived, we decided we would like to stay longer. This park is usually booked well in advance but luckily someone canceled for the months of August and September. Beautiful setting with spacious, well cared for sites. Friendly campers make you feel like you are old friends. Cell phone service here is weak to nonexistent. Wi-Fi is provided but bandwidth is limited.
We stayed in this park the month of June while in Lubbock on family business. We found the park clean and reasonably quiet - some noise from the Loop but not really that noticeable. WiFi service was excellent while we were here. The staff was very friendly and worked hard to maintain the grounds. A word of caution if you are in a motor home - if you are low on propane, have it filled before you get here. Pinnacle Propane is listed in the park brochure as being in the park on Tuesday and Thursday. We called Pinnacle 3 times and were promised they would be there - never happened.
What can I say? Beautiful park in the mountains with deer and hummingbirds. The sites are level, well maintained and most are well shaded. Sites 10, 20 and 30 are the ones I got the best look at and they were very nice. The owners are great people. In the summer and through Labor Day, make reservations early. The owners told me that September and October are their best months for weather but most people are gone after Labor Day. We just missed the Elk in the campground in early June but they should be back in the fall.
