Very nice place to stay. The first site I had the power box didn't work. I asked to move across the road since I figured it would take a bit to fix. I wouldn't have moved if I had realized that he came out to fix it in 30 minutes all done. Great Hosts and response! Bathroom/shower is a bit aged, but works and water was nice and hot. The shadier spots are on the outside loops of the place.
This is a very nice relaxing place to stay. Nature center is great and just missed the observatory night viewing. Alligators are neat to find. We stayed at space 110, and that area has lots of space. Other are little close. The other person is right, the bathrooms are at the front of the loops so you could be in for a walk. Bathrooms were fine, but my wife thought the showers were very old and need help and wasn't impressed with them. Hence an 8 instead of 10.
This was a one nighter. Overall it seemed like a good place to have fun if we had stayed longer. Wife and daughter really didn't like the shower/bathrooms. Park seems very old, and perhaps that's the best they can do with their resources.
Check in was quick, easy, and got a good site selection, and even on memorial day weekend. Sites are level with decent spacing However, that is about all that was good. We asked for a spot near a bathroom, and got it, which ended up being a near unless benefit. They are supposed to have a/c, not at all(read extra hot and extra smelly). There were only a few stalls for use with a lot of people wanting to use them. Of the two showers, one didn't work, so one shower for all the guys. All day saturday the place wasn't touched to be cleaned. Just use your imagination how much it deteriorated. A simple call got a "we will get to it", 12 hours after the sign says its supposed to cleaned it was getting worse. Overall the place probably makes for a decent place to stay and a launch point to points of interest, but in reading this, you need to realize that my wife grades a place almost entirely on the bathrooms. There are nice places we don't return just because of the bathrooms. (did management take memorial weekend off??!!!)
While pricey, this place is top notch. Escort to the site, even though it was an easy drive. Help backing in, etc. Asked for next to the bathrooms, and I ended up 20 feet from it. Very helpful staff with clean restrooms and endless hot water. We stayed for two nights. I would return, but I would have to factor in the price with other places, depending on the season as my price is "off" season.
Can you say "off season"? Of the 90 spots, I think we were one of 3 people there for the two days we stayed. We saw the train and the bridge. This had some pretty windy roads and some of the them steep. My vehicle is small, but I would get worried for the big vehicles in some places. Saw the host at the very beginning and that was it. There wasn't much else to do there. Was an OK stay, seemed a little pricey, but I would return if I was back that way.
Overall pretty decent, even for the "off" season. The roads are very windy and I had to go around a few times to get to the right spot. All dirt so I don't know what happens in the rain. We liked it and would return.
Good little stop over. Nothing fancy and provides a good view. Owner guided us to the site just up the hill. Its at almost the top of the summit. Bathroom/Showers were clean and water hot. Nice. Not sure if this is a place to stay for very long. I was here for just one night.
We arrived a few days before the "season" started so we got the lower rate, normally 40. We just stayed the night so the rate was OK, but 40 for an overnight seems high. Its high probably because it sits on a popular lake. Everyone was helpful and its obvious they have lots of activities for people who stay for more than a few days. You do have to pay for showers, but they were hot and clean. Since out class B has no bathroom, it was good to get a space right next to them so it was any easy walk. We even ordered in pizza after a long day of driving.
We have a small class B with no bathroom, so it was great to get a spot across from them. We just needed a place for an overnight stay and everything was smooth and nice. We came in late, but it was obvious they had a lot of activities set up for the weekend.
