I stayed with a rally group so we had a special rate. The staff were very friendly and had welcome packets for us. The park is lovely, and I had orange trees beside my site. The pool was large with two hot tubs. We had use of the White House which was our meeting room complete with everything we needed to cook and eat. The only reason I gave it a nine was the wi-fi wasn't always very good, and I had difficulty getting online a lot. Otherwise I wasn't ready to leave.
I stayed overnight on my way to the valley, and it was fine. Concrete slab, no grass. There are dunes between the campground and the water, so you couldn't see it at all. Basic county park. I would stay again if I had children who enjoyed the beach. The staff was professional, but the office closes for a short period in the afternoon to change staff, and they didn't mention that on their website.
Stayed here for two nights while visiting in Dallas. Friendly staff and helpful with directions. Wi-Fi connection four hours at a time starting when you log in. I thought I could log out and use the remaining time later but you have to use it all at once. Had trouble with burrs in the dogs fur. Did not use the pool or any other facilities but the park is fine if you need an overnight place to stay. They do have a little store in the office.
It was a wonderful place to stay. One night we did hear train whistles but nothing to bother me. There is a large meeting room that was available to us, the staff were helpful, and the location is excellent for San Antonio, Gruene, and New Brunfels - all of which we visited. There was no problem with Wi-Fi. I have a satellite dish so I can't comment on the cable reception. There are two pools - one for adults and one for family. Large dog parks. I would definitely stay here again.
People were very friendly. My GPS took me to a totally wrong location so I had called to get directions, and the lady met me out front to guide me in. I only stayed overnight. Location is excellent heading east to Houston. Right off highway 90. Very good wi-fi reception.
Stayed here for a rally and the hosts were very nice. For $7 you can reserve the location for washing your rig. The park is handy for Ft. Davis and Alpine. The pool was closed for the season. There is a small sitting area just for night sky viewing. The laundry was clean. The main room was available to us but I did not see a kitchen. The Wi-Fi worked well but there was a set of rules for using it so if you are needing to be on line for several hours that could present a problem.
Very nice owners. They only have 15 pull-throughs but I had a pull in that faced the marina so I was very pleased. The roads are gravel but the sites are concrete with little side patios and picnic tables. Campers are not allowed to walk on the marina docks. There are two meeting rooms, a pool (unheated) and they were painting the bocce ball court. There is also a playground. If you rent a $22 site you will need to pay extra for cable. The Wi-Fi was satisfactory and I was able to Skype. From what I could see this is the nicest RV park in town. I plan to make a return visit. It might cost a little more but was worth it.
I stayed for an RV rally. Some of our group was in one area and some in another so I wish we could have all been together. Most rally hosts do put guests in the same area and I had reserved months ahead of time. The WiFi reception worked one night and couldn't connect the remaining 3 days. Park was very well kept, nice views, good clean meeting room with a separate TV room with computer. There was a pool and spa but because of all the rain I wasn't able to use either.
I have stayed here often and already have dates set for three more stays before the end of the year. It is the best RV park on Galveston Island. Full hook up's, cable TV, WiFi, hot tub, pool, and the friendliest staff you will find anywhere. They will go out of their way to help you and make your stay comfortable. The beach is a comfortable walk and I've taken my grandson across the road many times with no problem. The beach at that area is very quiet and there are no crowds like you find further towards the city. Its a lovely, perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself.
The manager's wife is in a cancer battle so his manner may change with the day she is having. I never had any problem with him and we discussed having a loved one battle this disease. I was camping with a rally and some found him brusque but once his situation was explained they understood. The Wi-Fi reception was excellent. The meeting room was made available to us at any time and was clean and had a TV. The camp is about 10 miles from Amarillo with many things to see. We were also about 9 miles from the entrance to the canyon. We took park in the Elkin Ranch breakfast and the steak dinner and play "Texas" in the canyon. The laundry room was clean, plenty of washers and dryers and a TV and table and chairs. I would return.
I spent one night. The park was lovely with the Salado Creek running by our site. We asked for a site with trees and were given one. The pool has areas at both ends for small children with plenty of room for adults to swim. There is even an 'adult only' hot tub although some teens did use it. The KOA store was well stocked. It appeared there were things for all ages within the park. It was close to I-I0 so I didn't have to go through a lot of traffic. There is a bus stop right outside the park that takes you to downtown San Antonio. Very nice park and friendly managers.
We stayed one night at this KOA. The managers were very friendly and led us to our site and helped with the hook ups. WiFi reception was excellent. We did not use the cable TV. The camp was clean and the swimming pool was refreshing for the hot weather. We would stay here again.
The park hostess was very nice and drove us to our site. The park wasn't full, so we were able to select the best site in the house which had a wonderful view. We were not able to pick up any WiFi. I would recommend this park for people touring the area or overnighting. We stayed one night.
I was here with a rally group and the managers and owners were so friendly and helpful with information and hook ups. We had a rally rate and found the site just what we need for a rally again next May. The Big Fisherman restaurant was close by with delicious food at reasonable prices. If you want take the fishing tour, you need to book early but there is information on local interests in the large meeting room which has a 52" TV with cable, kitchen, pool table. All this site lacks is a pool.
I was with a group for a weekend rally. The staff was terrific. My heat would not come on in my rig so I called the office asking if they had someone to help me figure it out. Within half a hour I had help and it was fixed. Since it was getting cold I couldn't have been happier. We were allowed full use of the meeting room which was very clean. The bathrooms were decorated in a very cute fashion: more than any other camp restroom I've seen. The Wi-Fi was good and strong as was the cable TV. I would definitely stay here again.
Brand new site. It is listed as Choctaw Casino - Durant. It is NOT at the casino and is NOT in Durant. I arrived late at night and there was no signage at all to let me know where the camp was. I pulled into the casino thinking it was there after stopping in Durant and not finding it. Called the site and with much 'turn here, turn there' in the dark finally found the camp. The person on the desk was very nice and apologized for the fact there were no signs. The grounds and building are lovely and this will be a good spot but you have to have directions on how to get there and the KOA book was less than helpful.
Also camped there for a convention and enjoyed it. The hot tub was working and a good temperature, the staff was very helpful. My site was a back in and not shaded. Wi-Fi and cable worked fine. Not many cable stations but all I needed was the news. There is a small restaurant within walking distance that served fair hamburgers. Road noise was not noticeable and I was closer to the highway than many of the rigs.
The manager was were very helpful and lead me to my site. Wi-Fi connection was strong enough to do my work. The only thing that might disturb some people was the train coming by during the night but to me it was kind of pleasing. I would definitely stay here again. Very clean park. The dog run was the best I've ever seen with little agility runs for the 'guests'.
I arrived at night so picked my own spot which was level. Looked like most of the RVs were permanents. Area well kept where we were parked but around the office there was a lot of trash and old rigs stuffed with junk. Otherwise agree with the previous reviews. Unless I was there for fishing I probably wouldn't make the drive to get to it.
Very beautiful camp site with welcoming managers. Many amenities - more than I expected. There is pizza available at the office and you can purchase fudge as well. They offer breakfast at the convention center and shuttle service to shows if you purchase your tickets at their office. They aren't discounted tickets but they get good seats. The site was very clean and your trash is picked up in the mornings. I would definitely return again.
The only drawbacks for this park were the lack of any shade at all and the rocks in the entire area. I was there one night and stayed inside so it was not a problem but if you had children or were there for several days I can see where that would be difficult to manage. The staff was very friendly and I would recommend it for short stays.
I would have rated it higher but the managers were less than friendly. When I called ahead to ask if they had space every question was answered with one word 'yes'. Nothing more. When I arrived it was almost a routine speech and then take us to our site. Not very welcoming. The park itself was fine. Clean and level. I stayed one night.
I know it says there are pull-through sites but I couldn't really see them. Kept thinking I was in the wrong part of the park. There is a sign out front to 'pick a spot'. It a very basic camp but there were hookups for the water, electric, and sewer and it was fine for an overnight stay. The gentleman who ran it was very nice and the price was certainly good. It was just outside of Waldron.
We saw an ad in a Texas magazine for this park so decided to try it. The one problem I had with the site were all the rocks around the parking area. You couldn't walk without stepping on or over them and it was easy to twist your ankle. The staff was very nice and they keep a lot of fishing gear including worms for the fisherman. The only fishing in the immediate area was a small pond with a pier. The place was quiet and had a very nice swimming pool. My husband used the showers and said they were very small but they were clean. The Wi-Fi was fine but there was no cable. The 30 amp service was through a wire outside the metal box.
We were able to get cable at our site. There is a small dog park but not much grass and lots of stickers. The people at the desk were very nice and told us about a moon light program at White Sands. We used the laundry which was very clean. Also had a nice little gift shop.
The directions we were given were very poor so it took us quite awhile to find the site but we enjoyed our stay. The park was clean and had the fanciest dumpster I had ever seen. The only TV available was by antenna and local channels. There was a nice dog walk. No pool.
I stayed one night. There is a pond with catch and release fishing, a very nice pool and a spa. The only cable available was in the game room. The owners young son was managing the desk and explained that the wifi only allowed 30 minute limits and then you would lose your connection. You could restart but this made it very difficult to work on something where you needed uninterrupted wifi time. There were some shaded sites but most were in the open.
The ladies who ran the camp were delightful and guided me to my site. There was a nice dog park along with a fair sized swimming pool. We opted to have the cook fix us dinner the night we stayed and it was delicious. There was a menu to choose from and you could also join an ice cream social. They had a large selection of movies you could borrow as well and a small gift shop. We camped in a motorhome and would definitely stay there again.
