From the moment we arrived, everyone was very friendly and welcoming. Many of the residents come back every year, but were still friendly. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There were plenty of activities available as well as the birding center in the park. The laundry was a little small for the size of the park. The bathroom and showers were clean. The clubhouse and lounge were very nice, too. The only complaint was that the lots for the "transients" were very tight. It was fine for the first week but then someone else moved in beside us and they were right on top of us. I would definitely stay here again but stay in a larger (more expensive) lot.
This was a very nice park next to the San Marcos River. It was relatively empty except for regulars. The site was level. The bathroom was clean. It was very quiet and pretty. The girl in the office wasn't overly friendly, but she wasn't rude. I would stay here again.
We stayed here overnight while passing through. It was a nice, clean park with level pull-through sites in gravel. The restrooms were extremely clean and well-decorated. The free Wi-Fi and cable was an added bonus. My only complaint is that, while the "transient" area was relatively empty, another rig was parked right next to us and the manager could have skipped a site or two so that another rig isn't on top of you. Their outside door light shown in our bedroom window all night long. I would stay here again.
We used this park as a starting point for exploring the area and it was a good choice for that, rather than dragging a camper all across the park to go to the Village Park after reading the reviews. Since it was too cold to sit outside and watch the stars, it didn't really matter. The days were pleasant but the nights were cold. The spots were level, the wi-fi was slow, but I had my own Verizon wi-fi card which was also slow. Cable was good, water pressure was fine and the office personnel were friendly, letting me choose our spot. A large ice machine was available which was a plus. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
We only stayed one night but would stay here again for longer stays. The office staff was friendly although she forgot to tell me I needed a coupler for the cable. I had to walk back up to get one at a cost of $2. I could keep it or return it on my way out and get my $2 back. Spots were level, cable and wi-fi. Had a great looking indoor pool and hot tub although I did not use them. Dogs are restricted from one area but they had 2 fenced-in dog run areas. Would stay here again, although it is a little pricey.
There wasn't much to this park but was a good stopping off point after leaving Big Bend National Park headed to Brownsville. Directions from our GPS took us to a not desirable area, but a friendly fellow gave us directions. It is very basic with no amenities and seems to have many permanent residents. W/D available in office as well as a book-trade section. No one was in the office when we arrived but I called on the phone and she came down. I don't know that I would stay here long term but it served its purpose. It was clean and level.
This park was fine for an overnight stay. It seemed as though everyone decided to stop at the same time because there were 5 or so RVs lined up to check in when we finished, but there was only one person checking in. She was thorough and did not get in a rush with anyone, or get flustered. The park was clean, and the showers were hot and clean. Our only concern was a large tree that grew over the pad and scraped the top of our camper. The management needs to be more aware of this type of hazard. Couldn't tell them because she stayed busy and they were not open when we left the next morning. This place also catches high winds and we are on the leading edge, so we were the block for the other campers. Watch for this when camping. We would stay here again.
We stayed here in Feb '10 when coming through so decided to stay again. The park is clean and the spots are level. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We asked to move because we had a difficulty reaching the utilities without the truck being in the road. The staff member rode down to work with us to get us where we needed to be and it all worked out in the end. We would stay here again.
For our needs, this park was fine. Overnight stay on the way from TN to AZ. Site was a pull-thru with no problems getting in or out but could see how it could be a problem for bigger rigs the way some people park. No cable, but we survived. People in the office were nice. Had a dog park area, which was an nice option. We would stay here again.
We stayed here 3 nights in a 35-foot motorhome. We had to back in and then park our car in front. It was a tight squeeze for both, so I doubt that anything much bigger could fit. The park is old and small and with mostly permanent residents. It is clean and well maintained and the pool area was attractive. There is a charge to use the bathrooms and showers and the laundry area was kept locked, too. The owner was friendly to me but I don't think I would want to cross her. It is close to the expressway so there was a lot of noise, but that makes it convenient to most things. This would be a good location if you were planning long term because it is "homey".
This park is located close to the interstate, so it is easy to get to. The sites are wide with large pull-throughs. However, the road was dirt and full of holes. Cable was available, but we could not get very many channels. We were here for one night stopping over, but I would stay here for a longer time during decent weather. There are shaded sites with paved patio pads and 2 Kabins. There is a dog park and the staff is friendly. There is a small store where you can find many basics.
We stopped here overnight. I found it on the Internet and knew which exit, but had to call to get directions because there were no signs. It is convenient to the interstate. It is a small park with mostly regulars. We had a pull-through and we had a 35 foot motorhome with a tow dolly, but it would probably be hard for a bigger rig to maneuver. The sites were close together. The roads and sites are dirt. Cable was available but there weren't many channels available. The staff was friendly and this spot is OK for passing through but I don't think it would be a good long term spot.
This is a bare-bones park, but it seemed to be popular. There were no amenities, but the sites were large, pull-through and wide so that you were not on top of each other. Cable was available, but we couldn't pick up very many channels. Camping World was within walking distance and there was a great view of the mountains. Good for passing through, but if you are looking for excitement, this isn't it. It's clean, but it reminded me of a drive-in movie.
We stayed here two nights as a break on a 1500-mile trip. We were on the outer edge so we had a great view of the mountains. The park was clean and was dog friendly. The exercise room was a nice break. Although 10 miles from Tucson, it was a nice drive to go to dinner. We had no problems and enjoyed the stay. The train wasn't very far and we heard it several times during the night. The staff was friendly.
It was easy to access and large pull-throughs were available. The staff was extremely friendly and the entire park was clean. There was a neat pet active area, but it was rainy and cold, so couldn't use it. We purchased a coax cable ($8) in the store to access the cable, but had problems and couldn't access but about 8 channels. I had problems using the Wi-Fi, but luckily had my Verizon card, so eventually gave up on Wi-Fi. We would stay here again.
This park is now my favorite place to go. You are out in the country, but minutes from the beach and more minutes to a large town with all the conveniences. Everything was clean--the staff was continuously paroling the property and picking things up or checking on things or removing trees, branches, etc. The tram available to go to the beach was an excellent touch, but I usually walked the 0.7 mile down there. The beach was clean and the water was the turquoise blue that I love about the area. The 5 mile nature trail was not very well marked after a certain point and I ended up going to the lake when I didn't want to, so it was a longer hike. We traded sites after one week so that we could have one with sun and the staff was accommodating, although we still had to contact Reserve America for our friend to extend his cabin stay a week--it could not be handled in the office. The volunteers we encountered were all friendly and the Saturday programs provided by knowledgeable staff were interesting. We were reprimanded for having a fire on the ground, but we learned a lesson and will buy a fire pit for the next time. I would definitely return to the area.
The sites were too close together. We could hear our neighbors at their dinner table when we sat outside. The park was clean and the staff was friendly (they lent us a coax cable), but I guess mostly you are paying for the proximity to the beach which was not a very nice beach. It was clean, but not a "swimming" beach. The area is good for walking and/or riding bikes.
This was a great park with walking trails and a dog park. The sites were large and private with lots of trees. We had poor drainage in the site we were in after it rained. We were trying to pull out and the entire back end was standing in 6 inches of water which made it difficult to unhook. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would like to go later in the year because volunteers were putting up Christmas lights throughout to turn it into a drive-through display, which will be beautiful. I would definitely return to this park.
The park is small but the sites are big with concrete pads and huge trees for shade. It was located next to the Interstate which was convenient for traveling to the tourist areas nearby, but the highway noise was not obnoxious. There was no convenient place for walking and the laundry was a little hard to get to, but the staff was friendly and accommodating. They also provided tickets to attractions that were cheaper than purchasing them at the attraction. A nice clean, quiet and convenient park (so I guess that's why there is a higher price than one would expect with no amenities.)
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The view of the bay was excellent. We didn't participate in the activities but they had things going on frequently such as card games, potlucks and casino boat rides. The sites were a little close together but we enjoyed the visit.
