Very nice state park. Large sites although dirt. Lots of trees and shade. Beautiful large beach raked daily. Great fishing on Otsego lake which is very large. Several bathhouses which were very clean although there were very few campers at the time we were there. Nice playgrounds for the kids down by the beach and a couple of others through the park. Wonderful wheel chair access ramp to the beach area. Camp store was closed so I cannot comment on it. We will camp there again.
There are two sections of this campground. One section on the lake and another across the road. Right across the lake from the dunes with great views. Busy campground with many off road vehicles due to the dunes. Can be noisy at times, sometimes early in the morning. All sites are shaded, some are larger than others. Little or no privacy. No alcohalic beverages are allowed. There is a nice beach at the campground or you can drive to the lighthouse where there is a fantastic beach on Lake Michigan. If you don't have your own off road vehicle you can ride the dunes via Mac Woods Dune Rides ($15) or rent dune buggies at one of the rental sites. Silver Lake is a place with lots to do putt putt golf, go carts, shops or just walking up in the dunes. Nice sunsets. We always have a great time here.
What a wonderful park. The restrooms were cleaned everyday at 10:30am and 3pm. The staff comes within an hour of a camper leaving and makes sure the sites and fire rings are cleaned and raked. Lake Superior has the best sunsets I have ever seen. Swimming can be done at the campground (stairs to the beach) or at the day use area. The site we had (#15) was quite large and across from the bathrooms. Even though we were on the second road we had great views of the lake with no campers obstructing our view. I highly reccomend this park. Our site was not that private but there are many that are but they are smaller.
This is your typical old fashioned campground. Nice but with dirt roads. No dust problem. The whole park is very shaded with lots of trees. Fairly large sites. A small pond for fishing/swimming or paddle boats. You can rent a low rider 3 wheel bike, golf cart and even power wheels for the wee tikes. Has a basketball half court and tetherball. The firepits are slighly dug holes surrounded by rocks. There is a hay ride on saturdays. They have a gameroom with a pool table and a few older video games. Also kareokee. They even set up a TV in the game room and sattelite so the campers could watch the Nascar races and Pistons basketball. Very friendly and family run. We had a great time here even though it really is nothing fancy. Just good old fashioned camping.
