This is a nice quiet park. It's a few miles off the interstate so no issues with traffic but we did hear the occasional train although that does not bother us. The park is clean and well maintained and the staff are friendly. Our only complaint about this park would be the speed bump by the entrance. It is really bad! I doubt that many RV'ers are driving their rigs fast enough that the park had to go to that extreme to try to slow them down.
We have stayed at this KOA many times on our way south in the Fall and north in the Spring. It is a really convenient location. The sites are really close together and I don't think we would enjoy it much if we were staying for any length of time but for a night or two, it is fine. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They offer a nice breakfast each morning for a nominal fee. The interstate runs by the park but we barely notice the traffic noise. We will stay here again.
This is a beautiful park. We only stayed one night but it would have been nice to have had more time to stay longer. The sites are roomy and the Wi-Fi worked great. There is a dog walk area as well as a nature trail at the back of the park. As we pulled into our site, we realized that we had a flat tire on our 5th wheel and the lady in the office was great to help us out by phoning around to find a local business that could repair or replace it for us. Someone showed up before 8am the next morning & our trip was only slightly delayed. We would definitely stay at this park again.
The sites are a generous size and there is lots of room between each of them. It was a nice modern park and the Wi-Fi worked well while we were there. There are several things about it that we were not impressed with however. It costs $2.00 for washers & dryers if you need to do laundry which is more than we have ever paid at an RV park. There is no propane on site. Pack enough food to last for your entire trip! I needed some bread part way through and had to pay $5.20 for a loaf at the general store. Diesel fuel was $4.26/gallon. It was very hot during the day and the pool was freezing so we were unable to use it. If you go there, make sure you stop at the little pizza restaurant just outside Terlingua. I can't remember the name but it is on the left hand side as you leave Terlingua, headed for Lajitas. Don't eat at the Lajitas Resort!! The food isn't all that great and it's over priced. If you're a golfer, be prepared to pay $129.00 green fees to play 18 holes. The Big Bend area is quite spectacular and worth the trip but Lajitas Maverick RV Park could be better.
Fee paid represents a Good Sam discount. We only stayed here one night and our only complaint would be the Wi-Fi which was very unreliable & kept cutting out. The office staff were very friendly and helpful and the manager escorted us to our site, which we like so we know exactly where we're going. The lady at the front desk recommended a great BBQ place, a 2 block walk from the park for supper. The park is clean and well looked after and it was quiet with no road noise so we had a good sleep. We would stay here again.
The park itself is clean and well cared for, but the area surrounding it is terrible and we did not feel safe. We heard that several people from the campground had their vehicles broken into at the local WalMart while we were there. There are some permanent homes in the park and they are all well taken care of and there seems to be a lot of return visitors who winter in the park every year. There was a monthly calendar of events, posted in the laundry room and it seems like they have some activities in the park but not nearly as many as we have seen in other parks. A lot of the permanent sites are very close together. The Wi-Fi was okay but not great.
This is a great little park. It is far enough off hwy 10, that road noise is not a problem. The park looks fairly new & is laid out really well. The manager was very friendly & offered us good advice about our driving route for the next day. There is a nice pet walk area. Wifi works really well. We would definitely stay here again if driving through this area.
We have stayed here several times. The park is well maintained and the staff are friendly. I wouldn't want to be here during peak times when the park was full as the sites are very narrow and close together. They have garbage pick-up each day at the site. The WiFi worked well and they have a good selection of tv channels. We will stay here again.
Nightly rate reflects off season rates. We were in a full service site but the water had been shut off for the season and we used their restrooms & showers which were clean. The owner was extremely friendly & helpful. We make this an annual stop on our way to our winter destination. We will definitely stay here again.
Rate reflects KOA discount. Nice park, owners are very friendly. They have an on site cafe which serves meals from 9am until 5pm daily. The park is close to I-57 so there is road noise and we could hear trains. Neither of those bother us but it might bother some people. We will stay here again.
We have stayed at this park several times, on our way south in the Fall and back north in the Spring. The park is beautiful and the owners are friendly & helpful. The water had been shut off for the season and the owner asked us if we'd like him to add some water to our tank. We will definately stay here again.
We stayed here in the Fall of 2012 and loved the park but something seems to have changed since our last visit. The park doesn't seem to be as well maintained as it was then. The Wifi was terrible.........the connection was hard to get and kept disconnecting. Our site was considered a luxury site but for $71.00 a night, it was very over priced for what we got. It was a narrow site with big rigs on both sides of us and the site itself was not in good condition. The offer garbage pick-up at the site every morning before 10am which was nice. The staff were friendly. We would probably stay here again but not for a long stay and we definitely wouldn't pay for a luxury site again.
This park is okay for a short stay if you are visiting the Memphis area but we would not stay here for any length of time. The sites are very close together. The Wifi worked well, and the staff are friendly, but it's close to Hwy 55, and there is quite a bit of noise from the traffic. We have stayed in nicer KOA's than this one.
This was the second time we have stayed in this park. If you want a "fancy-dancy" park with all the extras, then pass this one by, but if you are looking for a nice, safe, quiet, little park, this is a gem. We love the park, and it will be a regular stop for us on our migration south in the fall and north in the spring. There seems to be a few permanent residents in the park, but they are friendly, and their sites are nice. The Wifi worked well, and the laundry rooms are clean. There is a nice trail for walking dogs, and the park managers are very friendly & helpful. We will definitely stay here again.
This park is not very big so it would be wise to make a reservation. The park is very quiet and the people are friendly and helpful. There is a nice walking trail for dogs and the Wi-Fi worked well. Our site was nice, level, and we enjoyed our stay here and would come back again. We would recommend the park.
The rate we paid was a discounted rate. This is a nice park with full hook-ups and all sites are pull throughs. There is a free shuttle from the RV park to the casino and back. The Wi-Fi worked well. I would not call this a family campground. It is more suitable for adults. There is no playground and it seemed to us that most people who were there, were there for the gambling. We would stay here again if we are in the area but only for a night or two.
We stayed here one night while traveling the Natchez Trace Parkway. This is a nice quiet park. This owners are very friendly and helpful. This is a nice basic, park. There are not a lot of frills like Wi-Fi and cable TV but we really liked the peace & quiet and we both slept like babies. We would recommend the park and stay here again if we were in the area.
This is by far, the nicest KOA we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in lots of them. The staff are very helpful and friendly. We stayed for 6 nights and were there for Thanksgiving and the park hosted a free, turkey supper for all the campers in the park. Nice touch! The park is clean and well maintained and the lots are quite large. There was daily garbage pick-up at each site and the Wi-Fi was good. The park is centrally located to all the attractions. You can take a GrayLine Tour from the park, downtown to see the Grand Ole Opry and the other attractions. We would definitely recommend this park and we will come here again.
This is a very clean and well maintained park. The sites are designed the way a park should be. Other park owners could take a lesson from this park. There is plenty of room between the sites and each site is nicely landscaped. The dog walk area is the best we have seen. The park staff are friendly and helpful. A couple of other people wrote comments about noise from trains keeping them awake. They must be very light sleepers! I had a little trouble getting connected to the WiFi but once I did, it worked well. We will definitely stay in this park again.
We have stayed here twice, both times in November, enroute to our "winter home". The owners are friendly and helpful. I-75 runs near the park and we could hear the traffic only when we were outside walking our dogs. Wi-Fi was excellent. We will definitely stay here again.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed in this park. We hadn't been here since 2010 and there have been lots of upgrades which make it even nicer. There is a newly paved road into the park and several new, large campsites. The park is clean and well maintained. The owners and staff are friendly. The park is very quiet and the Wi-Fi is excellent. We will definitely make this one of our regular stops on route to and from our winter destination.
Nice clean park. Friendly staff. WiFi was terrible. Surrounding neighbourhood does not look very safe. Close to downtown San Antonio. City bus goes past every half hour. Dog walk area was closed due to construction behind the park.
This park is very nice. It's close to the highway but far enough from it that there was no road noise. They have the best off-leash dog area we have seen. Staff are very friendly. WiFi worked well. We will stay here again.
This is a nice park. The owners and staff were very friendly. We liked the warm cookies that were delivered to our site shortly after we checked in. Clean shower rooms. We had a very good steak dinner at their Krossroads Cafe. They also offer breakfast. WiFi works great. Close to the highway but not a lot of road noise. We would stay here again.
Staff are very friendly & helpful. They offer Chuck Wagon supper & a breakfast menu daily which we really enjoyed. Wi-Fi works great. No cable tv. Park will arrange for local tour bus to pick up & drop off into Memphis attractions so we didn't need to unhook. Close to Memphis if you want to travel in yourself. A bit of road noise but nothing too serious. The sites are close together.
Park is difficult to get in and out of right now due to the road construction in the area. We didn't find a lot of things to do in the area. Our site was long enough for our 5th wheel and truck. Wi-Fi works well. Some sites are fairly close together; ours was fine. Seems to be a lot of year round people here. Nice trail for walking our dog. The RV Art Gallery was nice and had a good selection.
Staff were very friendly and gave us directions to local points of interest. Sites are larger than most campgrounds we have stayed in. Wi-Fi was excellent. No cable TV. Would have been nice if the pool was heated. Good area to walk the dog. Not much to do in the area unless you drive into Dallas. Far enough off the highway so road noise is not an issue. We would stay here again.
