We stayed in March 2011. This FS campground is in a shady Ponderosa Pine forest near several nice hiking trails. Unfortunately this is not a very safe part of Prescott. While we we here, the campground host warned us that two generators had been stolen in the campground during the past 2 weeks. This place sometimes has the feel of a homeless encampment. In fact, one of the local agencies in town provide "free camping vouchers" to the homeless. The campground is within easy walking distance from downtown. A better alternative is Lynx Lake.
This is really the only RV park worth staying at in Prescott. Bathrooms are spotless and the staff friendly. The prices have increased the past few years with no improvements. The roads and campsites are DUSTY and the WiFi only works in the laundry room. There was one change: they finally purchased an electronic credit card reader. Up until last year they used the old sliding credit card imprinter.
This campground has many shade trees and is set away from the highway and is 8 miles away from the hustle and bustle of Moab. The bathrooms are clean and there are a lot of them! The pool was not open. We used the laundry facilities and were very disappointed. The water levels in the machines were set very low. Our clothes came out soapy. Next time we will take our laundry to the new laundromat across from City Market. This is a very busy and crowded campground, popular with extended families.
