We have stayed in Chama several times, but never at this RV park, so we decided to try it out. This is a wonderful little park on the outskirts of the town. Everything is close, walking distance, but you wouldn't know it due to the tranquility of the park. Sitting between a beautiful forested area, the fall leave changes give it a true fall feel. It has about 10 sites right on the river, all full hookups. Descent fishing for the kids. Restrooms are a bit outdated, but clean and heated. Showers worked great. Very friendly staff. Don't really get why would anyone give this park less than a nine. Definitely coming back.
This is a quiet little park. Emphasize Quiet. Part of the Chama River runs through it. Very good fishing right on site. 10-16 inch trout are very possible. Playground could use some help, but my kids spend their time riding their bikes. Hiking right on site. We have been here several times and always have had a great time. Good spot for visiting the town of Chama. Definitely would recommend.
This is a great campground very close to the entrance of the park. The staff was friendly and helpful. The sites were wooded, and beautiful. We had nothing but forest behind us with a well placed fire pit area. We stayed here 5 days, and spent most of our days at the park, perfect for this. We would definitely go back.
As far as KOA 's go this one goes is not bad. There are multiple amenities, pool, and breakfast. It is close to Moab and the different parks. The reason for the average score is mainly two things: sites are unusually unlevel which made it somewhat tricky to set up. Second, an employee came by to tell me that the manager had seen our dog tied to a tree next to our camper, and apparently we needed to be outside if the dog was outside. The only problem is I was working with the RV tanks so I WAS OUTSIDE, and the tree seemed to be a very benign, normal place to let our dog hang out without bothering anyone or being in the kennel. I have been to many KOA's; they are easy and convenient on your way to your destination. This trip alone we stayed in 6 of them. This is the only one that has mentioned something of this matter.
I've seen some comments on this park, especially about the price. This is the most beautiful setting we have ever been. The panorama is astonishing. The setting is almost magical. The minute we got there we really could not care less on how much it cost. We realized immediately we were providing our family with an opportunity of a lifetime. I figure if you can afford an RV you can probably afford this place and everything it has to offer. This is one to return to over and over again.
The appeal to this park is the "Jellystone" brand. That is what made us try it. Our kids were exited. This park is in transition to becoming a Jellystone park. I am sure that at some point it will be up to speed, but at this point there was a lot of construction going on, and a lot of rain which did not help.
This one of the worst KOA's we have ever stayed. The spaces were horrible and there is no appeal to the park. The Wi-Fi was not working and nobody seem to want to fix it. Overall a very poor quality stop.
A wonderful State Park. Sites rest at the foot of the San Andres Mountains, with easy access hiking trails. It is only 9 miles to Alamogordo, nice town, and 13 miles to White Sands. If you are in New Mexico is a must visit, you will not be disappointed. Our kids (that includes me) had a blast sledding down the dunes. They rent the saucers at the gift shop. I recommend spring or fall camping.
This was one of the best CG we have ever stayed. Clean, beautiful setting, within a short distance from Yellowstone west entrance. If you want to avoid the crowds of West Yellowstone and yet be close enough, this is the place. Great fishing, boat rentals are reasonable, very friendly people. Cleanest showers and bathrooms i have ever seen. Peaceful. This is one to go back over and over again. There will be Mosquitoes, and plenty of them but for us a little bugs spray and the beauty of the place more than made up for it.
Very kids friendly. We stayed here on our way to Yellowstone. The park has many amenities, including the pool, playground, jumping floor, pool. Good breakfast. Very quaint little town. People were friendly. A little loud being a place where a lot of kids bring their ATV and Motocross bike, but the quiet hours are enforced. This was not an issue at all. We would definitely visit this park again.
Wonderful place to spend some time with the family. They have all the amenities for the kids like mini golf, paddle boats, fishing ponds, ice cream shop, etc. The people running it are very friendly and helpful. The country style dinner was wonderful and very inexpensive. We would certainly be back.
We stayed here for the weekend. This is a wonderful park with many activities available. Facilities were clean. Sites by the water are beautiful. From what we could see most sites are close but do not feel crowded. There is great fishing in the river, especially for the fly fishermen out there. Staff was friendly and helpful. There is a very convenient RV repair shop close by if you need it.
