We rented a cabin for a week which was very nice. It was a very warm week. The cabins do not have AC, but had fans. Normally, you would not need AC because it was an unusually warm week. During the day we would explore the Schoodic area and even headed north to Eastport and Lubec. This campground is in a perfect area, away from the Bar Harbor traffic. The CG owners told us about a shortcut to get to Bar Harbor which would bypass the Ellsworth traffic. It was a great week and we were pleased to return to a cool cabin due to the cool breeze off of the bay. We slept well. The cabins were very clean and cozy. TV reception was limited, but they did offer Wi-Fi. Do stop at Tracys for some great Lobster, seafood and ice cream. It is a short walk away. We would return to this place. Next time I will bring my RV as the Campground looked inviting and had stunning views of Mt Desert Island.
Our sixth summer visit here, and we are glad to say, this Campground still tops our list of stays along the east coast. We came up for our 6 day stay during a major heatwave. Several surrounding areas hit the 100 degree mark, but not at the campground. There were nice mountain breezes and the evenings were comfortable. As always, we enjoyed hiking the miles of trails, visiting the Lakota Wolf Preserve, and relaxing at our nice shaded site. The view of the pond was beautiful from our site and the sound of the stream was very soothing at night. We slept well. The campground is still neat as a pin, the CG owners are very nice, and always made us feel welcome. This place is truly beautiful. There is plenty to see and do at the campground and surrounding areas. Something worth mentioning. It is more enjoyable traveling around the NJ side of the Delaware Water Gap as traffic is nowhere near as bad as Rt 209 in PA can get. If you want to get out and about, do visit. The Old Mine Rd and Millbrook Village, Space Farms Zoo and Museum, Sunrise Mountain and High Point State Park. The Appalachian Trail can be reached right from Camp Taylor Campground. Take a challenging hike to the top of Mount Tammany for one of the most breathtaking views on the east coast. We will be looking forward to our next stay, hopefully in the fall. We love the fall colors.
This is a great winter camping destination. We enjoyed this place, even when it snowed. There are plenty of trails to hike along the pond. The heated bath house was very clean and well heated. The water was turned off at the sites but was available in certain areas. The campground hosts were very nice. We will return again, often.
We stayed there for a 1 nighter. The CG hosts were very nice. The campground was neat as a pin. A very nice fishing pier and fish pond with a fountain. Our rating is reflected by the high off season rate and the cost for a bundle of firewood. We will camp here again.
We love this place, our 5th time camping here during the off season. The place is always kept very neat and clean. The staff are A+. We enjoyed the beautiful indoor pool, the huge arcade, bingo, along with many planned activities. There was a great turnout for the polar bear plunge. There were several hundred campers there for the New Years. We will return...often.
This place has come a long way. We visited this campground more since they lowered their rates, and are happy to find out they did not have a rate increase for 2010. The campground now offers great meals at the lake side gazebo. One of the greatest advantages to this campground is that it is situated on high ground so you do not get flooded out after a heavy rain. Alot of the other local CG's do. Nice clean and very large sites, a beautiful well stocked store, great fishing, a very clean pool and always having great neighbors will keep us coming.
We stayed here for Thanksgiving and had a nice time. We used to go to the old camp which of course is closed to the bridge construction which is taking forever. No bridge construction this trip due to the holiday. Fishing was fair and there were quite a few boats in the water until Friday, when winds were blowing 30 mph. When they get the bridge done and future campground up and running, this place will be a great summer beach destination. A camp store is in the works for the 2010 season. We will camp here again.
We made a 2 day stop over due to Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel restrictions. We were surprised how many rigs were camping here for January. We picked one of the super sites, an excellent choice. We enjoyed the spacious site. The area was very clean. There were quite a few workers actively cleaning up leaves and performing landscaping work. No problems with jet noise from the few we heard, but it was a very windy day. We will return.
We spent our 2nd Christmas and New Years here and had a great time. The outside temps were not as warm as last year but stayed above freezing until the day we left. As far as we are concerned, this is the ONLY place to camp the OBX during winter, especially with kids. Once again, the indoor pool, hot tub, lounge and game room were great, especially during the couple of rainy days we had. I would like to mention the Liberty convenience store just north of the CG. They have just about anything you would need. The local pizza place and Hot Tuna's were open for the occasional break from cooking. Being steps from the beach, the sound of the waves and fantastic sunsets without the crowds makes this place a must do winter camping destination. Some folks may not realize that there are additional winter bath house (heated) and laundry facilities by the pool. Management is A+ at this place. We will camp here again.
We travel up and down the East coast and always look forward to making this place one of our destinations. Four years in a row. Why? This place is beautiful, the owners and staff are great people, and the place is very clean. This place is truly a great camping experience. Alot of wildlife in the area and the NJ Skylands area and Delaware Water Gap are spectacular. Hiking is a must do. There is so much to see right in the campground. It is also great to see the wolves at the preserve. We hope to become seasonals there. This is one place we can stay at for a long time and never get bored. Thanks again and we hope to be there soon.
We made reservations only a couple of weeks in advance, so were lucky to get in. The site was large, but sewer hookup was on one side and power hookup on the other. A longer hose fixed that problem. They have a great store with RV supplies, so if you forgot something, odds are they will have it. The staff are A+. The placed was packed, had great activities, and great live entertainment on Saturday night. This is one place you could spend an entire week at and never leave the CG.If you bring your kids, they will have a great time regardless of age. We will return.
We had a great time spending Christmas and New Years here. The indoor pool, hot tub and arcade were a big plus on those chilly days. This is the only campground with this option which is a big plus for the kids. Of course, the time of year makes this place quiet, but still very clean. The bath house was spotless and well heated. The staff was very helpfull and pleasant. The sunrise over the ocean and sunset over the sound were breathtaking, and you never have to leave the campground to enjoy both. We will camp here again, SOON
We are going to make this place an annual vacation spot. This is our second summer trip to this place and as last year, was fantastic. The owners of this CG are very nice and very helpful. We have stated to the owners not to change a thing. The lake is beautiful and clean. It is a hikers paradise with all the trails and the wolf preserve. The surrounding area is great with plenty to do. We stayed for 8 days and could have stayed for 20 more. We will be back...
Checked out their web site and found a rate increase for the 2007 year. For a family of 4 water front is $ 75.00. Note not all water front sites have access to the water. Swimming pool is not open the full camping season. This place is just too expensive.
Very nice, and quiet campground. The sites are huge and big rig friendly. We camped here several times this year and although this place is quite expensive, it is well managed and owners do not tolerate people that can not follow simple rules. The fishing is fantastic ( catch and release ) Just make sure if you bring a pet, that you have proof of vaccinations. This place is ideal for quality family time, the way camping is supposed to be. If you are looking for a place that has arcades etc for the kids than this place is not for you. Close to Assateague and Ocean City.
We camped during a Noreaster which made it quite exciting. The waves were huge but fishing was out of the question. Great beach combing though during high tide. This place is great for self contained units as rest room and shower facilities are primitive. Especially if you have kids. A bike riders paradise and great trails to hike. A great place for viewing wildlife also. Did not see many ponies due to the weather , but a lot of deer. Open year round. If you want to camp on one of the best beaches on the east coast , than tis place is for you.
AAA++ in our book. A very nice and quiet campground. The cg and surrounding area are beautiful. Delaware Water Gap is close by with awesome views. Plenty to do at cg, They have a nice clean swimming lake, beautiful streams, and excellent hiking trails. They charge .25 for showers, but they are spotless and you get instant hot water. Nice game room and mini golf. They have wildlife pens with deer and the Lakota wolf preserve located right on the cg. Well worth the $ for guided tours. Sites are large and staff are excellent. This is what real camping is all about. We will go back again.
We have been camping here for 4 years and enjoy it every time. We started in a pop up camper and like this place because it is open year round and has a heated bath house that is open year round. It is a quiet campground with owners that work hard to make your stay enjoyable. A great view of the Pokomoke sound and far away enough from the crazy summer traffic. Check out their web site. It is very helpful.
