The best part was at least there was some grass for the kids to play in and we met some super people also camping there. However, the owner of was more concerned with filling her spots than with our requests. Something I had no problems with anywhere else we camped. I booked the sites in advance and before we got to AK, I got an email saying she moved us. I wasn't crazy about it, but she wasn't about to move us back. Then when we were checking in, she had moved us again and put us up by the road. When I expressed my disappointment (I have two small kids and I was upset of not being notified in advance), she just gave the attitude that she didn't care if we stayed or not. There is no way we were going to find space in another park that time of year (the salmon were just arriving), so I felt I didn't have a choice.
Even though it wasn't full hookup and it's basically just the typical gravel parking lot, it is surrounded by the mountains and the stream ran right behind our MH (much to my son's delight), was really beautiful. The best part, though, is the large thatch-covered area where you can build a fire (they provide the wood), 2 gas grills for anyone's use (they provide the gas), picnic tables and chairs. The showers were clean, but you have to get in early to get the hot water! There is also a nearby trail for a nice family walk: very pretty.
Except for the fact that this is another large gravel parking lot, the people running this place were the friendliest of any RV park we encountered on our month long trip. What facilities we used were clean. We traveled with our kids and at least they had a large grassy area for them to run around on.
Gravel parking lot, no grass. We were traveling with kids and we were parked next to river. Pretty sight, but the river was down at the bottom of a cliff and there were no barriers for the kids. Scary. They also have a huge, loud generator running in the park 24 hours/day. The water for our hookup was nasty, full of iron. So much so that we were warned not to use bleach in the laundry. We were supposed to spend 4 nights here and we left after one.
