Do not recommend visiting this Resort. There is no security at the Resort and it does not have card/number activated gates. Anyone can ride or walk through the Resort at anytime, day or night. It is located in a very rough area of town, and is right off of Highway 1, a very busy road. A horrible random situation occurred during our stay that could have been avoided had there been some kind of security on site. Highland Woods is a sister Resort to Breezy Hill right next door; yet, Breezy Hill does have security.
We stayed at Sunshine Travel RV Resort for two weeks and enjoyed our stay. Most of the sites are a little too small, but they are angled so that helps. There are many activities to participate in, just be sure you sign up in advance. It's a perfect place to walk and ride bikes. The area is loaded with things to do, most important is there are many great beaches located within a short drive from the Resort. A major downside to the resort is that it is located right beside I-95. The traffic on 95 never stops and certainly doesn't slow down.
This is our second year visiting Sunshine Key RV Resort and we highly recommend it. The staff is so helpful and friendly. They try to accommodate special request and continue to help you until you are satisfied with your location or special request (i.e., close to the restrooms). We arrived just before Valentine's Day and wanted to attend the "sold out" dinner dance. We had several people work towards honoring the request and were offered tickets in time to attend. The Resort is perfectly located -- far enough away to not be in the Key West traffic, but close enough to go everyday if you want to.
