Very nice campground in which we really enjoyed our stay and plan to stay again. It was quiet, clean, and well-maintained. The bathrooms which are cleaned thoroughly daily were spotless. The campground is very out of the way, several miles from "civilization". Getting there is a nerve-wracking drive across winding, narrow, hilly country roads and single lane bridges. The entire campground is laid out on rolling hills. Don't even consider the lower area down by the river in a large vehicle. It's primarily a tent area, although we saw one pop up. Bring lots of bug spray - the mosquitos were bad. They had a lifeguarded pool and a nice little camp store. The people who worked there were extremely friendly and helpful. One night while we were there was pizza night and a live Bluegrass band which we really enjoyed. The sites are tight. We were in site 64 in the woods and it was so narrow that our slide out touched a tree and we couldn't put up the canopy due to trees in the way. The site was relatively level. Some leveling blocks did the trick.
Stayed here July '05 for one week. Employees very helpful and friendly. The cleanest and nicest bathroom I have ever seen in a campground! The place is neat & well kept. There is a pool here but not much to do other than that. Game room was a disappointment to our 11 yr old - all that's in it is 3 or 4 very old arcade games probably from the 80's. No planned activities that we're aware. Would recommend & would stay here again.
We found this to be a nice campground and we would definitely stay here again. I requested a pull through, wooded, level site and got everything requested. Sites are very tight and very packed together. If you have a big rig you'd have a hard time getting in and out. I would highly suggest requesting a site away from the septic processing facility. It's loud, ugly and smells bad. They had a nice pool, camp store, rec room, indoor basketball court, and mini civil war museum to name a few. They have a family movie in an indoor air conditioned theater once a day. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
We camped here Labor Day weekend 2004. There is a creek along the campground and you can go tubing without leaving the campground. That is about the only thing to do here. It is close to HersheyPark, Swatara State Park and other area attractions, so itís an ok place to stay if you are day tripping somewhere else. We would not stay here with the intent of spending our days at the campground due to lack of activities & amenities here. When we stayed, the campground had a van that takes tubing and canoeing groups, with canoes/tubes available for rent. The campground was very noisy - we suspect (but havenít unconfirmed) is it close to an offroad 4 wheeler/mx park, judging by the noise that went on all day & late into the night. The sites are level, and the campground is clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The camp store had a grill/food bar with the worst odor we have ever smelled in a food service facility due to apparently lack of exhaust. The entire camp store smells terrible and we avoided going in. Your clothes will smell strong of stale grease for a long time after you leave.
