This was our first stay at Gulf Breeze and we enjoyed it very much. We were 6 / 8 minutes to the Gulf Shores Beach. For the most part, the park appeared to be totally full, but I think several sites were “weekend” occupied. Their year round storage area is fenced and is huge. We walked our dogs around it several times and might consider taking advantage of it next year. The Internet and cable were good. The grill at our site was gone, but our friends that we camped with had one…. Their outdoor pool is bigger than most parks, which is a plus. The weather was perfect, so we did not have to utilize the indoor pool. The staff does make everyone abide by the rules. My 14 year old was asked to get out of the hot tub (must be 18) and got busted for riding a bike after dark, but I totally understand enforcement of rules. The speed bumps are a bit crazy, but again….I can see the need. We will definitely plan to camp here again.
This is a wonderful state park on the TN River with a few sites overlooking the river. The campground was full over the weekend, but cleared out a good bit during the week. The camp host were wonderful and stopped by and talked to everyone at each site daily. There is day area with a beach, the golf course, and the restaurant and Marina at the Lodge. Our campers did enjoy a day playing golf. We went and looked at an antique boat show at the Marina. There are tons of deer to see while traveling through the park and on the golf course. Unfortunately, our dogs managed to find a skunk and get sprayed, and that was a challenge, but this is a wonderful campground and we hope to go again soon.
We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. It took us about an hour to get from I-59 to the park, but it was well worth it. We did not have a site on the river, but were a short walk from it. We had a wonderful wooden deck on our site and complete shade. This park offers a small beach, tons of opportunity for fishing/boating…etc. The roads are paved throughout the park, so there were kids riding bikes, scooters, skateboards… Each site has a grill and a fire ring. There were 35 sites and the bathhouse we used only had 2 showers for men/women. There were a few times when my husband / 3 boys had to wait in line or go at a later time to get a shower. As far as the women’s showers, I went really early or late at night and did not have to wait. We were not able to get cell phone service, internet service, or cable which was not a problem for my husband and I, but the kids complained some. We did have X-Box and lots of movies… I hope to get to use this park again!!
We camped here over a four day weekend during fall break for our boys. Since it was off season, the rates were very reasonable and the weather was awesome! I believe our site was the only one without a concrete pad, we had a site right as you enter the CG, but could see the ocean and we were right across from the bath house which was a double plus for us. The CG is thin where you enter, view from the beach, but opens up to a wider park on the inter-coastal waterway with views of Ono Island. We spent most of our time at the beach. But if we do get to return, I would like to use the grills, listen to the music they provide on the weekend, and maybe do some fishing. The bath houses were immaculate!!! There was a bouquet of yellow roses in the women’s during our stay. And I can testify that it was cleaned every morning as we were right across from it. This CG does have designated areas to carry your pet to potty and has pet tools to help with your waste disposal. I would love to camp here again!!!
We visited this CG for a one night stay during their Halloween activities. My boys rented paddle boats and easy rider bikes which kept them busy for hours. This seems to be such a great place for kids. I have friends in the B’ham area that camp here often and would love to return during the summer months to be able to enjoy the summer activities.
We had a pull through site and I think these were bigger than most. We camped here over Thanksgiving and experienced rain and COLD temperatures. My younger son said after a couple hours of being at the park that he wanted to come back during the summer. The park had a basketball court, game-room, horseshoes, and many grassy areas. (The boys and my husband kicked around the soccer ball one evening!) The roads are gravel and we had a nice concrete pad. Cable was good and the internet was better than most CG's. Being there on a holiday, the traffic was awful, but would be no matter where you stayed. There was a Christmas program at the park on Saturday night, but we did not attend since the Alabama vs. Auburn game was on ESPN. This CG does have designated areas to carry your pet to potty, with bags, and you are asked to only let your pet use this area and not other areas of the CG. I would enjoy camping here again.
We used this CG during a soccer tournament to try to cut costs. This CG does not have bath houses, concrete pads, paved roads, cable, internet... We did not have a site with full hook up, but it does have a dump station. The flies were bad and pets were not cleaned up properly. The CG is huge and is close to many activities in Memphis and is very cheap. I recommend this CG if you are going to Memphis to park; leave your RV; and really just need a place to sleep. If you are looking to camp and hang out, this CG is not for you. The second time my son had a soccer tournament in Memphis, we elected to pay for a motel room.
This was our very first trip with our new travel trailer, so we were a bit nervous when we arrived. We camped in a pull through site. Our site had a small tree, so we could not put our awning out the entire way because the branches were in the way. The campground appeared to be at full capacity the entire time we were here. The area that we stayed in had all RV’s, but the campground did offer tent camping and it appeared to be full. We saw several groups of boy scouts! Our boys loved the go carts and raced several times. We did not have time to do the cave tour. Our campsite was gravel with a small concrete slab. Gravel roads. The pool was small and we did use it one afternoon. For the most part, it stayed covered up. We spent one afternoon at Rock City (the drive was so close!) We were very close to downtown, so we did drive in one day to see a movie and eat pizza at the Mellow Mushroom.
We camped here over a busy holiday weekend and the park was full. We did not see any empty spots on Saturday or Sunday. The Gulf Shores area experienced a massive thunderstorm (lots of lightning) on Friday night which brought the WiFi down for the weekend. The cable was good. We camped w/ 3 young teen boys, so we did not use the pool, but it seemed to be nice as we drove by. The paved roads were nice and we saw many kids on bikes. We enjoyed the Fort Morgan beaches! We will camp here again!!!
