We stayed here while I was working in Port Arthur. The staff was cordial but not overly nice. The roads were tight and in horrible condition. The laundry facility was old, dirty, and run down. The deer flies were enough to drive you insane. The "dog walk" was a tall grass field that I was afraid to walk in for fear of snakes. On our last night there, a storm blew over a tree onto our neighbors car. The owner said it was not his problem to fix the car but he would take care of the tree. They were still cutting it up when we left. The park was mainly permanent residents and I believe we were the only temporary campers there. The park is in the "ghetto" and did not feel safe after dark. We would not stay here again as there are too many other parks in the area that are much nicer for the same price.
We stayed here while I was working on the steel mill. The staff was extremely friendly, the people were even nicer, and the staff was more than willing to help with anything. The down side was that you can only stay in one spot for 14 days and then have to move sites for 7 days and move again 7 days later. If it were not for that, I would have given it a 10. the other down side is the gates close at 10 pm. Other than that it was an excellent stay and we will stay there again. The park was kept clean and tidy, the roads were in good shape and the lots were level. Small problem with the 30 amp electric that was fixed the next day by the maintenance. We just had to plug up to the 50 amp for the night.
When we arrived the site they gave us was in the front of the park which was very crowded and full of permanent residents. We chose another site that was near the water and the front desk seemed very annoyed by this and told me they didn't know if we could stay there or not as we had paid for a month and they didn't allow long term stays on the waterfront. I explained that we would only be here for a month and that my dogs would not do well being cramped up in the front around all the noise. They agreed finally and let me pay. They have a clean laundry facility, the grass is cut almost daily, and the grass is watered daily as well. Thanks to "Willy the Groundskeeper", as I named him. The park is clean, the majority of the tenants are friendly and keep to themselves, and there is security on site Friday through Sunday. The 500 ft. fishing pier they advertise is nice but full of bird droppings and needs desperately to be washed. The night fishing is excellent but the other fishermen on the pier are the permanents and can be very rude or pushy if you get in "their spot". We would camp here again if given the opportunity. We would just remember to reserve a "waterfront site" so the front desk would not get so annoyed.
