Another great Oregon State Park. Nice sites, nice people, quiet and peaceful. Joseph is a beautiful old western town with much to see and do. Several good restaurants. Many good hiking trails and the cable cars to the top of the mountain are a must. Restaurant on top very casual and decent food. Views spectacular. Everything you need for a fun vacation is here.
Wonderful campground but it is to be expected from the State of Oregon. The site we had was amazing but the thing that is the very best are the views of the ocean - spectacular. Even in the mist this vista is breathtaking. Wonderful walks to and on the beach. Quiet and peaceful. Close proximity to Redwood Forest which is a must see drive through.
We love this campground. No one does campgrounds like the State of Oregon, right from the reservation procedures & info, to your stay. Our only complaint and it is really kind of funny: The volunteers guard the trash area as if if were Fort Knox and everyone entering it was a bumbling idiot. All the carts are clearly marked but they hover over you constantly stating the obvious. "That's were the can's go, etc." when the sign "CANS" practically hits you in the face. Very annoying to be treated like a moron.
The sites were just okay but my issue was with the help. Telephone person very short and difficult when we were trying to get directions on how to get there. We had been driving around in circles which is not a norm for us. It is a confusing situation and Trailer Life Directory wasn't much help and neither was the woman on the phone. We were only there one night, but it isn't the type of RV park we would stay longer.
We enjoyed our stay here. Found the employees to be very nice and friendly. The Saloon was great fun on Karaoke Night. My only warning would be if you make a reservation, do not accept either of the sites that abut the rest rooms. Not much fun sitting right outside the men's or lady's room door. I believe they are sites 45 and 46.
The park personnel are very nice. The overall condition of this park is "shabby." The restrooms are badly in need of remodeling. Shower curtains disgusting and hanging by one hook. No drain cover in the shower. Really weird because the drain hole was large. I've slipped, but never tripped in a shower before. The awful tiles are different hights. Toilets walls are disgusting. Use your imagination. The 3/10 of a mi. walk to the lake, what I like to call "the death march." It was over 100 degrees and the stairway (if you could call it that) down to the lake was dangerous. Seniors not in good condition should not attempt this. THE POOL: water was clean but all around the edges the tiles were grungy. Really disgusting to look at.
Don't be fooled by the word "Resort." This is not like any resort you have ever stayed. It is a parking lot with parking spaces the size of your local grocery. No room for slides. The hookups are on the wrong side. The dump connection was disgusting with someone else's spill over. The parking lot is dirt, gravel and weeds. I wouldn't have used the toilets or showers if I had to. No beach, no nothing. A rusty old dock and large rocks everywhere. The noise into the late hours was awful. Roving, drunk young men yelling shouting. Fireworks into the late hours. No control or security. On a brighter note, the owners/manager were very pleasant and friendly. I would never stay there again, nor would I return to Neah Bay. A sad place indeed.
While there was vegetation between the sites, they were not all private. Noisy partyers at night, no enforcement. Trash/dumpsters not collected frequently enough. Store hours were not set up for campers; opened too late in the morning. Owner not that friendly. I know they were new owners. I challenge the 5 minute walk to the beach. Also, the winds make that trip nearly impossible at times. Would not return.
The hosts/managers were wonderful. Personally escorted to our site and even the campground pooch was there to greet us. We found the fellow campers here to be very friendly and helpful. Would return again. The river view was spectacular, especially when the moon was on the river.
Very quiet park with wonderful hosts. We were personally escorted to our site which was helpful. The river view site we had was beautiful, especially at night with the moon on the water. Easy access to river for fish, swimmming, etc. Power boat tours of river right next door. Nice campers.
