This is the third time we have stayed at Mill Creek, and just as in the first two stays this time was perfect. The grounds are kept manicured, clean, and welcoming at all times. Bath houses are the cleanest we have ever seen in our travels. Some comments of the staff mowing too often, water sprinklers running at night which do all happen, but this is Texas. Grass doesn't grow without being watered, nor does it stop growing at a set height. A few have made comments of highway traffic noise. This was the first time that we actually heard traffic noise from I-20. I think it must really have to do with the current weather conditions. When there was a wind blowing we heard nothing, when the wind was perfectly calm we did hear traffic in the evening hours. The pool, rec center and buildings are all maintained to perfecton. Staff goes above board to make your stay as comfortable as can be. Cable TV does leave some to be desired, however the Wi-Fi ($5 per stay) worked without a flaw. If you're in the area or passing through I would recommend you give it a stay for a night or more.
Beautiful park/resort, well maintained and a pleasure to stay at. WiFi service was great. No noise from the roadway or interstate. Pull through sites have little to no shade. Back in sites very limited shade. Roads in great condition, pads are concrete, water pressure strong. Club house and pool areas are flat out beautiful. Some great local food choices, ask for recommendations at the desk. Limited number of bath house facilities as to number of sites at the park, but well kept and very clean.
First time stay at a Thousand Trails Preserve. The Staff was fantastic, informative, helpful; could not have been any better. The grounds were extremely clean and well maintained. Camp sites are very large, most of which offer gravel pads, a few offer concrete partical pads and padio. No cable service offered at the sites, matter of fact the lower sites don't receive any TV antenna broadcast reception (but then that ain't all bad) WiFi available in the Activity Center which also has a couple of TVs, pool table, ping pong, table activities and great cold A/C. Rest Rooms spotless, pool area well maintaned. Preserve also offers a few different out door court games and putt putt golf. Roads in good condition, some gravel some paved, some a combination of the two. TT Preserve does have a private boat ramp to the river. The preserve is located near town which offers a few great restaurants...great food, big helpings, reasonable prices for those times you don't feel like cooking. A word of advise, in the summer months it is HOT!! But so is the rest of Texas. Price shown is for a Thousand Trails membership offer of $0 plus $3 per night for 50 amp service.
We spent 4 peaceful nights (and days) in this little campground. Now if you are looking for a swimming pool with hot tub and night life: this is not the place for you. If you are looking for great views, slow pace, relaxing time: you should make a visit. Showers and restrooms were spotless. Large community center with limited exercise equipment, pool table, a couple of very large screen TVs, pool table, couches, chairs, large deck with furniture, great views, and the coffee along with snacks were always waiting on the table. One night we were greeted by a fox walking through our site, the next day a couple of white tail deer. Road into and around the park are asphalt with gravel semi level grade sites. All sites had a picnic table, however grass area around the sites is somewhat on the smaller size. Good water pressure, good electric at the sites. The park is outside of Hot Springs, but it is a fast straight 10 miles from one to the other. The driveway into the RV park from the hiway is worth the trip itself, a series of short switchbacks up to the top of the hill. Nothing that would be any problem for a motorhome or tow vehicle. Honestly it was fun to drive in the motorhome and the dinghy. We paid $25 per night which included the Good Sam discount. The clear night skys and bright stars were included at no charge.
Beautiful RV Resort, The staff was out going, helpful, informative and very attentive. Store and gift shop well stocked and reasonably priced. The maintenance of the park is excellent. We stayed in the adult only section, the site was a pull in forward site that gave us a view out the front window of the water filled creek and tree line on the other side. Site was nice and wide, provided partial shade. Well manicured land-scraping. Pool, hot tub, restrooms and showers were spotless. While the name may imply that the park sits on a Lake, don't expect there to be a large lake. Rather a few smaller landscaped/manicured ponds and streams which offer catch and release (no license or permit required). At night the sky was dark black which gave the most fantastic view of the stars glowing above. Park also offers free Wi-Fi and cable at no charge. We stayed 4 nights and used the park as a base for exploring the area. We can't wait to return. The resort also offers on site RV Wash and Wax service as well as LP fill service. We did experience a problem with our RV and needed the help of a RV service Tech...The staff contacted a mobile service provider who was on site within an hour, fixed the problem and was very, very reasonable with his rates. We Recommend the Buckhorn Lake RV Resort highly,
