Stayed 1 nite on way to destination. Convenient location, easy to find off I-78. Office is only open in morning and had left reservation/site info for us. Sites are fairly level, but could be muddy if it had rained. Internet wi-fi spotty. Quiet, but it was mid-week off season and only a few long-term campers who seemed to go off to work in morning. Biggest issue was the smell from the cow barn/chicken coops across the road. Having lived next to both at one time, I don't like this particular country smell. I certainly wouldn't want to spend more than 1 night at this location. Staff on phone was friendly but never saw anyone other than other campers.
Friendly staff at check in. Clean facilities. Sites not terribly level where we were although some more expensive sites had concrete pads, etc. No one let us to campsite and finding it was a bit confusing. We were there mid-week and off-season but I suspect this park can be FULL and crowded and noisy. It was OK and served our needs, but would not camp here again - would find someplace else if in area.
We stayed her 2 different times while visiting the area. First 2 nights we were in a pull-through site in an open field (no trees/shade) and a long walk to shower/bathhouse. Park staff patrolled regularly and made sure everything was safe/secure. They were helpful and pleasant. Facilities were clean, and sites were level, although a bit close. Our 2nd stay was on the way back after the trip, and we asked to be closer to showers. Nice back-in site near a stream. Ducks were a bit noisy and made our little dogs crazy, but it was a lovely spot. Would definitely camp here again. One of the nicest KOAs we've been to.
This was an emergency stop for us - we had broken down and after repairs it was getting late and dark so we needed a place to stay and get off the road and get plugged in for A/C. There was some big fair/carnival in the town that weekend and the RV park was packed with "carnies" and regulars. Office staff was nice to accommodate us BUT -- park was over crowded, sites were close and not all that clean, very noisy with partying til late at night. Appreciate the plug-in, but would not stay there again.
Somewhat typical of KOA - the sites were narrow and, if park had been full would have been close together. They were nice at check-in --waited for us to get there because we called late when we realized we weren't going to make our original destination. Stayed just 1 night -- would probably opt for someplace else, but of course this one is close to the major historic attractions.
This campground is poorly maintained. Campsites are level but very close together. All roads and campsites are dirt (no gravel) and were so dusty we could hardly see to pull into facility and everything (including our clean RV) was covered in dust. Must be a sea of mud when it rains! Biting bugs were awful. Bathroom was old and dirty. Entire facility not up to KOA standards. People in office were nice at check-in but we could hardly wait to leave the next morning.
