I hate to give this such a low rating because it had a nice family atmosphere. I was very disappointed in the condition of the roads and campsites. Compared to Lake Wateree and Dreher Island State Park it is in desperate need of an overhaul. The amenities are in great shape, but the roads and sites are a mess. The whole place is a dust bowl. The main road is not paved and is in need of a new top layer of gravel. The sites are even worse. We had site 70, which was for a 35 ft rig, it was so unlevel that a six foot person could walk under the front end of our fifth wheel standing straight up. We needed an extra step to get out of the trailer in addition to the 3 stationary ones. I doubt this lack of maintenance is due to the economy, it is obvious the state has focused on other parks during the boom times. It is a shame because it is a nice park that is always full. The least they could do is put some money back into the park to provide adequate site setups for all types of rigs.

We shared a super site with our friends and the rate was much cheaper than getting two separate sites. The hookups on site 135 are in strange locations and should be relocated. I can see some units not being able to reach the water or sewer. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. This is a great family park. If you don't like being around active families using the facilities, than this place is not for you. Pool area needs some updating, but is adequate. Roads are great for bike riding and strollers. The rates are too high to make it more than a once every few years kind of place.

All sites were tight, many set up for awnings to face your neighbor. Had "buddy site",but would not want a buddy site without a buddy. Power was an issue when sections F&G were full. Management knew about the issue, but did not get a licensed electrician in to fix it. Repeat customers say this is a known issue. Pool was small for size of campground. Did not see any security patrol after dark. Probably would not return unless we were guaranteed a larger site and are assured the power has been updated.

The Beach Campground section is close to the ocean. Can be extremely windy. The sites near the entrance have large dunes as a buffer from the wind. The sites are large but there are some low hanging trees to navigate. Dump station is not located in the campground. It can be crowded with very little room to wait in line without being on the main road. We ended up dumping at a Flying J. Overall a nice place, but found other SC state parks on the ocean we like better.

Beautiful Scenic Park loaded with Palm trees. Made us feel like we were on a tropical island. I was not impressed with the set up of the campsites. They are laid out to minimize the amount of trees that would need to be removed. This preserves nature, but does limit the sites that are available to tall fifth wheels and slide outs. The reservation web site has no warnings of low hanging branches and limited room for slides. We would not have cleared the branches on main road to the back loop and barely fit into our site due to a leaning tree. I would recommend the park, but use caution because you may not fit in the site you choose due to the trees. The beach was beautiful. Even though the campground was full, the beach felt deserted. Bug spray is a must! The lower rating due to the site layout and tree clearance.

Great campground for overnight stay along I-95 at exit 77. About 5 miles off of the interstate, but worth the drive. Bathrooms were clean and the owners were very nice. We would stay again if in the area.
