Our first time back to FW since the 80's. Still sets the standard! Sites a little narrow, but plenty of room between them. We were in a full hook-up, pet loop. CG was very full, but quiet. Comfort stations squeaky clean, but very busy in the AM. Staff always cleaning. Laundry facilities fine. The dog park is a great addition, gave us a chance to let the furkids off leash and run for awhile before going to the kennel for the day. I love it that Disney allows the dogs in now, otherwise we wouldn't be able to stay here. We've already booked for next February, fingers crossed the weather is warmer!
Perfect in every way! The renovation is wonderful. Sites are spacious, and plenty of room between you and your neighbor. We were site 6, and have already booked the same site for next year. Rangers very friendly and helpful, as are the camp hosts. Bathrooms sparkling clean, heated, the best I have seen. If they put in Wi-Fi, you couldn't ask for anything else.
We loved this park. Sites a bit on the small side, and no private changing area in the bath house, otherwise would be a 10. Overall, the park was a lot of fun, with so much to do we never left the 3 days we were there, except to go to the grocery store, only a few minutes away. I'm glad to hear our guess was right, that they are making another camping loop, with FH! Myakka was a beautiful area, and lots of wildlife, birds to see. We had a great time hiking and exploring with our dogs. Camp hosts were friendly, and always cleaning around the bath house.
We really liked this campground. What a treat to have full hookups and cable TV at a State Park. We spent 4 days here, on the cool windy side, but had a very pleasant experience. The campground was about three-quarters full Saturday, and by Monday, the last night they were open, there were 5 of us left. The walking trails are well marked and maintained, the playground nice for the children, and seemed as if the fishing was good also. I knocked off one point for the $5/night/pet fee, and although the bathrooms were extremely clean, I didn't understand why they needed to close them for cleaning between 8-9AM? It seemed an odd time to me. It was a very nice place to stay.
The overall facilities are nice. Previous posts are correct, if you are arriving from the north the entrance is poorly marked, with the sign after the driveway entrance. The staff in the store were very nice, and the facilities were clean and inviting. The main bathhouse was fine, the small one near our site not acceptable. The playground, pool area seemed very nice for the children. The reason for my lower rating was that our site, A79, was extremely poor. We have a very large PUP, opens to 28 feet. The site seemed like an afterthought, was way too narrow, so much that we barely got the slide out around trees and still be able to keep the truck off the road, and could not put the awning out on the front side at all. Our first night we had to leave the picnic table behind our camper, otherwise it felt as if we were sitting on top of the people next to us. It was just way too small for a trailer our size. Since we were there only for 2 nights, I didn't bother with moving the second night. But it seemed as if every other trailer site had plenty of room, so I would stay again, just say NO to site 79A. Plenty of shopping areas and restaurants within a short drive.
This is an extremely nice campground. The staff is very nice and polite. We stayed for 2 nights, mainly to go to the RV show in Hershey. It was chilly at night, and our furnace was not working properly, so I used the bathhouse for my showers, and it was the nicest, cleanest facility I have ever seen, outside of Fort Wilderness at Walt Disney World. The campground itself is very quiet,. There is some road noise which is unavoidable being so close to the highway, but nothing that a fan wouldn't drown out though. I will surely stay here again.
