Nice, clean campground. Not a lot of planned activities for the kids, but our 12 and 13 year olds kept busy bike riding, swimming, and playing basketball. Good band Saturday night and even better karaoke Sunday night. Site was not large, but was roomy enough. Friendly campers and staff. Bathrooms were clean, but no hand soap. Boat rental rates very reasonable. No extra charge for holiday weekend, which makes this a great value. Store was small, but had the necessities. If we went back to the area, we would stay again.
Park was clean, sites were spacious enough. Not a fancy park, but the kids had a great time riding bikes and playing in the field. Free pingpong in the rec hall was great. The owners were on site and always very friendly and ready to help with any problems. The seasonal campers were also friendly. The store was well stocked and items were very reasonably priced. We did not use the pool due to cool weather, nor the bathrooms since we had a sewer site. Some downsides were the highway noise and the unreliability of the WiFi..it was free, but had a hard time staying connected.
Camped here for Memorial Day Weekend. Owner and staff very nice. A lot of seasonal sites - everyone we met was friendly. Kids had fun with all the activities. Bathrooms and showers (pay) were clean, as was the overall campground. Site was a bit on the small side, but adequate. Free, easy to connect to WiFi from site with very good signal. No cable, but got major local channels using antenna. We will return for Labor Day.
Nice family campground. Fun rec hall with snack bar. Pool was big and clean. Mini golf course in good condition. Bathrooms were clean - did not use showers. Wireless was free and I was able to access from site (although they don't guarantee it will work at sites which are far from the rec hall). Lots of seasonal sites - seasonal campers were friendly. We were up in the "G" sites - narrow roads made for tricky maneuvering in our 19 ft trailer - might be very difficult for bigger trailers or novices. Store was small, but supermarket not far away. Management seemed overworked, but very friendly. We would stay here again.
This was a return visit to this park for the 4th of July weekend. Our kids (3 teenage boys and a 7 and 6 year old) always have a great time - we've never had any problem with the staff bothering them for breaking rules or anything like that. There are many pluses at this campground - the WiFi is now free, site escorts, firewood delivery, free pump-out of your tank, on-site owners, continuous garbage pick up at your site. Thought the holiday entertainment was a little weak - a DJ Saturday night - but just an hour long kids show Sunday night and movie Friday. There was a good amount of other activities, although not all started on time. The miniature golf course needs to be re-leveled and it is very buggy. The pool is clean and heated, but was crowded with a lot of unsupervised young children. Was quiet at night - none of the unsavory characters you read about in other reviews. We go to other campgrounds, but continue to list this as our favorite, and will return again later this summer.
This campground has a lot going for it. Every staff member we met was professional, courteous, and friendly. The owner and manager are on site and easy to find if you need them. The manager escorted to us our site, which in another campground, probably would have been made into 2 sites. Nice playground, basketball court, sand volleyball court, soccer field, and ball field. A big perk ... there is also a city park which you can access from the campground that had additional ball fields, which my sons loved. One of the best-equipped game rooms we've seen at a campground. Activities for adults and kids. The grounds are kept very clean, and quiet time rules were enforced. The seasonal campers were all very nice and went out of their way to be helpful. The fishing pond was well-stocked, and my 6 year old caught a nice-sized catfish. Free WiFi at your site. Very affordable rates. On the negative side, they need a pool. There is a very small beach area on the pond, but more geared for little kids. The bathrooms are primitive - outhouses for the most part (but they were clean). However, I would not have been happy if I didn't have a bathroom in my camper. The manager said the owner will start construction on modern bath facilities this summer, and a pool is also in the future plan. Cable is also being installed on some sites. I would be a frequent visitor once these improvements are made.
We loved this campground. The office and campground staff were very friendly. You are escorted to your site upon arrival. Bathrooms and showers were clean (although a few shower handles were broken) and well-lit, as was laundry area. TV in the bathroom tuned to Weather Channel - enjoyed looking at the snowy forecast for back home. Beautiful beach area with a fun trampoline in the water. Enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub. Snack bar breakfast and lunch offerings were good and affordably priced. Good fishing from the bridge. Garbage picked up at your site. Good WiFi ($) signal at site. We did not bring our TV, but they had a very good cable channel selection. I'd give this park a 9.5 - just nitpicky things like site not being raked out (campground itself very clean) and the small sites (but we expected that), and the broken shower handles prevent it from being a 10. We would return in a heartbeat.
My family and I stayed here Labor Day weekend - I am glad that I didn't give much credence to the "drive-through" review posted above. The last campground we stayed at was much more "resort-y" - Hidden Acres is a smaller, family, back-to-basics campground. The pool was small, and too cold for my kids to enjoy. There were not many chairs around the pool. However, it was very clean. The store was also small - had the basics, and was not overpriced, but we did have to run out to SuperWalmart (about a 10 minute drive) for toilet paper. There was no cable, and you got very few television stations with your antenna - and those you got, came in awful. Those are my negative comments. I did not get the feeling I was in the 50s or 60s - this campground is not at all run-down, and the park is clean. We had a great site (35), from which we had a nice view of the river. The kids loved swimming in the river, and my husband was able to get some fly-fishing in. There were activities for kids and adults all day long - the kids especially enjoyed the dodgeball and kickball games. There was even a free bingo just for the kids where they won a candy bar or slushie - they loved it. The young lady who ran the children's activities did a great job. The staff was always very courteous and helpful. The hayrides, twice daily, were a lot of fun. Bathrooms and showers were clean. The petting zoo in the campground was not run-down at all, and had the cleanest goats I've ever seen. It was nice because they weren't pellet-fed - the kids were able to feed them leaves. One really cool thing was the peacock families living on the grounds, which just walk freely around all day. On-site garbage pickup - no lugging bags to a dumpster. This campground seemed to have a high percentage of seasonal sites, but we only saw one or two that looked run-down. We were not once treated like outsiders by the seasonal campers. We did not see any delinquent children at the campground. The snack bar (Peggy's) had reasonably priced food, although I can only vouch for the ice cream, which was good. My kids are already asking when we can go there again. We would definitely camp there again, and even consider a seasonal.
This is a very clean, well-run campground. Great pool and kiddie-pool with waterslides. The lake is beautiful, and the beaches sandy and clean. Continuous patrolling by security in golf carts - while they were vigilant about making sure the kids on bikes (including one of mine) obeyed the traffic signs, they were also friendly. One offered my dog water while we were taking a walk; another saw my son's bike chain had broken, and took the bike to the maintenance shop, repaired it, and returned it to our site free of charge. The campground is large and hilly, so you will get your exercise walking around. A few minor annoyances (to me) make this a 9 rather than a 10. I sent my son to get a bundle of firewood, and he returned with what amounted to 7 large sticks - I thought he was joking (3.50). There is a little store right past the campground turnoff where you can get a much better deal. The showers in the area we stayed in were cleaned at 9:30 in the morning - the time when many people are looking to take a shower! The store closed at 9pm on the weekends, so make sure you have everything you need before then. The cable system was so-so; however, the free wireless internet at our site was terrific (you can tell we "rough it"). My kids are used to a campground with more activities, so they got kind of bored, especially my 5 and 6 year olds. But all in all, it was a nice experience, and I was reluctant to leave. We would return.
This is our seventh season of camping, and this is still the only campground we have returned to more than once. It is located right off the Northway, and is midway between Lake George and Lake Placid. The owners are on-site and are very hands-on, doing their best to ensure everyone is happy. Upon arriving, campers are escorted to their site, and a staff member will assist you as you park your camper (if needed). Firewood is delivered to your site. There is a river on the campground property, which is tame enough for kids to wade and swim and tube. The pool is clean, the store is well-stocked (maybe a tad pricey), the staff is friendly. There are activities for all ages. We camped 4th of July weekend with other family members, and 7 children ranging in age from 2 to 16, and they all had a great time. The campground was busy, but the bathrooms were reasonably clean and there are plenty of free showers in modern bath houses. Of course, the kids always love BooBoo and Yogi! Another plus was the WiFi (5.00 a day, 20.00 for a week) - we were able to use it at our site (in the "Pines" area). We were sad to leave, and will definitely return.
