All sites are grassy, and most are along the river. There's no shade, and the no-seeums were very active while we were there. They come in through the window screens so you can't get away from their biting unless you wear DEET all the time. One minute north of the park entrance is a lovely stretch of beach. A few minutes south is a NWR. Groceries are back on the mainland and the bridge was under construction with traffic backed up for 20-30 mins.
This is the most friendly park we have ever been in. Most of the sites are permanent park models that are well maintained. Short term visitors are made to feel very welcome. The streets are wide and paved and have street lights so you can walk in the evenings. The pool is Olympic size and has four dozen loungers and chairs around it and was well visited. There are four computers in the rec hall for public use and Wi-Fi in the rec hall as well. Cable is only available if you are staying long term and pay to have it hooked up. Our only complaint was that the nearby town doesn't have many services and it's a ten mile drive to groceries, shopping, Wal-Mart, etc.
Very tidy looking, nice canals for launching boats, helpful staff, nearby access to groceries and a few restaurants. Inconsistent wi-fi access during the day that we were there. We had a conflict with them that upset us a fair bit. I won't describe it other than to say that they admitted making a mistake and apologized. They weren't in a position to fix the problem until after we had left, but they quickly made restitution even though it was going to cost them some money. We would definitely stay with them again as we appreciate their integrity.
The major thing wrong with this park is the noise. It's right next door to the lighted motocross track. You have to love bikes in order to want to stay here because you'll hear them from noon until night every day. The restrooms were very old and not very clean. Other than that the park looks average and the rate is good for this area if you can tolerate the noise.
We stayed here for a week. The sites are very close together. Our awning touched the RV next to us. WiFi inside the office works great. This is a county park and the office staff do a very good job of looking after the customers. Our neighbor was a young worker living in the park and he and a friend were talking very loud late into the evening one night. I told the staff and they promised I would never be disturbed by him again. They posted a note on his door and we never heard from him again.
The sites are large, but most are side by side hookups so you need a lot of hose in order to get away from your neighbour. The washrooms away from the pool are horrid. The washrooms near the pool are clean, but in very poor shape. We saw many permanent units for sale here. I think the rats are leaving the sinking ship. Our rate was only $40 per night because we needed to be in this area for a week. The nightly rate is closer to $50 with taxes and the $3 per day 'resort' fee. The only thing about this place that warrants the term 'resort' is the pool which no one used the entire week we were here. I wish we had read these reviews before we arrived because all the awful things they've said are true.
