We stayed in this park for a week and loved it. The sites have a rearward slope, but not too bad. They have a nice fishing pier and boat ramp within walking distance. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. The town of Bastrop is about 6 miles away and has a Walmart and lots of great places to eat. We found it to be a very quiet park on the week days and not too bad on the weekend. The only problem we had was being awakened in the morning by buzzards walking on the roof (LOL). When I opened the door they all flew away. Reserving on-line was quick and easy. They do have an extra fee per day, but give discounts for seniors and military. It's listed on the website. We can't wait to stay there again.
Another great LCRA campground. Although this park is smaller than the South Shore, we found it to suit us just fine. Be aware that all of the sites have a rearward slope to them, but not too bad. We stayed from Sun-Thurs and had the place pretty much to ourselves. This was the week before July 4th. We plan to use this park on a regular basis when we're not out of state.
This park is not too bad if you're not expecting a resort. As others have said, there are a lot of permanent residents, but we found them to be friendly, as were the park staff. I was a little disappointed that the fishing pond has seen better days and decided not to waste my time dropping in a line. The recreation room, store, and pool were also neat, but average. Over all, we will stay here again when visiting the area.
What a great campground. Made the reservations on line because we heard that it fills up fast and we were glad we did. Our spot was close enough to the lake, that it was only a few steps to drop the fishing line in. The space between sites is awesome and you almost feel alone. We stayed during the middle of the week, so don't know how busy it is on the weekend, but we may find out later this fall. Looking forward to that!
The good: friendly staff and the hook-ups are convenient. The bad: roads are narrow and sites are cramped. Road noise is annoying and goes on late into the night. Lots of permanent residents. Wi-Fi didn't work at all for us. Would not stay again, but that's just my opinion! Not much choice in the area.
We have used this campground as an overnight stay in the past and love it. This time we called ahead and were glad we did. There are several construction workers staying here and they have a limited amount of short term sites available. Friendly host met us and directed us to our spot. All hookups were convenient and worked well. We plan to continue using this great campground in the future.
This was a very active campground and a little too loud for us. Kids on bicycles were everywhere and the sights were relatively close together. I didn't see any trees and there were long term residents everywhere. However, it was clean and well kept. Check in was easy and the hookups were convenient.
In our travels we use RV Reviews to determine the best available campground when it's time to stop for the night. After a long day of driving in the rain, we saw a break in the clouds and decided to stop early for the night. Check in was great and the staff showed us to our long, wide spot. Shortly after setting up, the storm caught up with us and the power suddenly went out. The manager was kind enough to come to each RV and personally assure us that power should be restored soon. It took a little over an hour, but the power came back on and the rain stopped. Drainage was awesome and in no time the puddles were gone. We highly recommend this park and give it two thumbs up.
Stayed here for a week and love this place. Everyone was so friendly that we felt like family. Swimming, fishing, boat rentals, clean restrooms. Perfect for a vacation spot in the North Country. Lots of activities for young and old alike. We WILL definitely be staying here again. Maybe a little longer next time!
Stayed for 3 nights while visiting the Big Bend area. We chose this park from the reviews posted by others. The ONLY complaint is the noise from the train whistles. Seemed like they went by every two hours during the night! However, we wanted to be able to see the stars at night and we were very pleased with the subdued lighting of the park. Friendly staff, clean grounds and great location insure that we will stay here again.
Very impressed with this clean and friendly park. We felt safe and secure. There is no freeway or train noise what so ever, so it is quiet very quiet. This is a basic park with nothing for kids to do, which worked for us "old folks." We plan to stay here again when we're in the area. LOVE this park.
Stayed for 2 weeks and enjoyed the peace and quiet at this park. Although it has seen better days, the sites were level and the utilities worked great. The showers, restrooms, laundry and lounge area are some of the cleanest we've ever seen. If you need a fancy place, it may not be for you. But, if you're looking for a friendly, clean and safe park, We give it two thumbs up. We would stay here again.
Stayed here for two night while visiting the area. The sites are very close together and not very long. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Very quiet, but very dark at night. We were satisfied with our stay and would stay here again.
Not fond of this park. It was crowded, dusty, and our site was not level. Lots of trees, so watch where they put you. Road noise was bearable, but noticeable. We had a family with small children and a large fifth wheel right next to our slide out. They were running back and forth until late. Drove our dog nuts. Just saying that the sites are VERY close to each other! Won't be staying here again.
Very impressed with this park over all. When we pulled in, the place was empty, but the owner/manager told us to pick any spot and self register at the office. It's on the honor system and is cash only. The free driving range was a nice touch, since the was no cable or TV reception. Before too long a few other travelers pulled in and it looked more like an RV park. Absolutely no road or train noise what so ever. Will stay here again for sure.
This was our second stay at this park. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I must agree that the RV area needs a lot of attention. The overnight sites are cramped and somewhat out of level. They do however have an excellent restaurant that serves Bison steaks, which was on my "bucket list". This park rates an average even with the PA discount. We will stay here again.
Remarkable recovery after the forest fires last year. Although it will take time for the foliage to come back, the "bones" of the park are still here. Lots of activity with folks swimming, hiking, and biking. Sites are fairly level and all (in our section) were asphalt pull-throughs. The lengths vary, but all are wide with tables, BBQ stands and fire rings. The golf course looks OK, but can use some attention. With all of the state cutbacks, they are relying on volunteers to help with cleanup and maintenance. All in all, we were very happy with our stay and plan to return several times in the future.
Rate reflects Passport America charge. Easy access to I-90. Very friendly and helpful staff. Park had just opened for the season and was very well maintained. The train that passed by during the evening was traveling very slowly and didn't disturb us at all. Also, the noise from the Hwy was minimal. Very good experience. Will be happy to stay here again.
Very nice park with easy access to Hwy 34 and Hwy 85. Lots of shaded spots with concrete patios and tables. Most sites are large, which was nice, but ours needed leveling. No cable, but they have free videos to borrow in the office. Also a large book exchange. The young lady at the desk was not very friendly, but not rude either. We stayed for 5 days and had no problem with noise. We would stay here again.
We used the reviews from this sight to make our decision where we wanted to stay in this area. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The sites are roomy and fairly level. The restrooms VERY clean and the owners are great hosts. We will highly recommend this campground to our friends.
Do not recommend staying in this park. No rest rooms, no showers, no shade, sites are not level. Price reflects Passport America rate.We really have nothing good to say except that the owner was friendly. We will not stay here again!
Campground is opened from May-Sept. Most sites are taken by permanent seasonal residents, but there are several sites for weekly or monthly occupancy. Must make reservations, but so worth the effort. Located on a great fishing lake about 6 miles from town. Walmart, restaurants, museums and more. Owner lives on site and is very helpful and pleasant. Will stay here again when in the area.
